I only recently realised I don't own any MAC nude lip products (I know, what the hell!?) so I had been thinking I should just go in and get them to pick the perfect nude for me. While I was still undecided on what I should do Mac released their Look In A Box collections (prefect timing right?), when I saw there was a nude lip set that contained not only a lipstick but a lipglass and pencil I was sold. Now please meet my first MAC nude lip products from the Pretty Natural Lip Kit, swatches included!

All topped off with Feeling Fine Lipglass. This Lipglass has superfine glitter in it.

Gommage Delicate An Unexpectedly Excellent Lip Exfoliator

A quick scrub with Ella Bache's Gommage Delicat has left my lips feeling fresh and silky smooth. I found that my lips didn't feel zapped of moisture afterwards either as Gommage Delicat is so gentle. In fact Gommage Delicat is so gentle on the skin it can even be used over your eyes to lightly exfoliate away those dead skin cells and help move lymph fluid to reduce that puffy, tired eyes look. I would still apply a lip balm after just to super charge your lip treatment. It only took a few seconds to work this product over my lips in the shower and with a quick removal using a face washer my lips felt amazing. I only have a deluxe sample size but this product comes in a full size of 75ml tube. This is a winner for me and quite a surprise.

Now Gommage Delicat is an all over face exfoliant but as I said above it can be used on the eyes and lips. How can it be!? Gommage Delicat contains rose petals which act as a gentle manual exfoliant that is also softening. By delicately rubbing the product over your eyes in slow circular motions you are both exfoliating and draining lymph. This brightens your eyes! When exfoliating your lips there is no vigorous scrubbing required, a light go over while exfoliating the rest of your face is enough. Also within this gorgeous little product hides rosemary which is a great antioxidant to help fight free radicals within the body that can cause premature aging, score! Did I mention it smells devine, just like roses! But a warning for all those with nut allergies out there this beauty has Macadamia nut oil in it so beware.

As the internet saying goes, When I was younger I never expected eyebrows to be so important to me, that definitely rings true with me, how about you? I recently decided I no longer loved my eyebrows and wanted to grow them out. So after two surprisingly painless months, I somehow didn't mind the awkward growing out time, I went to Amy Jean Eye Couture for a brow sculpt.

Brows that were in desperate need of a reshape.

As soon as I walked in the atmosphere just felt so luxe. All black with glass and gold accents and a welcoming black upholstered lounge. With the most current fashion mags elegantly laid out across the glass table trimmed in gold inviting you to sit back and relax while you're offered a glass of water while you wait. Simple yet elegant is obviously the look of Amy Jean and it is just beautiful!

At this salon there are two treatment rooms with a full length mirror each and mirrored drawers. Equipped with an adjustable bed (and as a beauty therapist I can tell you they are a godsend for saving your back), magi-lamp and the best sterilised equipment for brow sculpting. I knew I was in good hands here.

In the brow sculpt you get a tailored brow shape, they are so incredibly attentive and particular, as well as a brow tint and finished with a brow product (in my case powder) and concealer. My brow artist was so lovely and did a really thorough consult with me about what I wanted and what we could achieve from my brows. I have a straight brow so there is little hope for a gorgeous arch here, but she made my brows work for me and I love them so much. I was asked me to look in the mirror to ensure I was happy before moving on with each step. I found the the whole treatment felt so easy and relaxed with very little discomfort or eventuating redness (I turn bright red as soon as anyone goes near my eyebrows). It only takes 15 minutes for a brow sculpt but a lot is achieved in that time. In the end I left with brows I was proud to show off and could easily maintain.

Depending on who you want to do your brows the price varies but I believe it is completely worth it whatever level you choose. It is hard to get an appointment so I would recommend that you call and book at least two weeks in advance.

Amy Jean Eye Couture offer not only eyebrow sculpture, but cosmetic tattooing, lash lift, facial waxing and eyelash extensions. They are one of the leading brow and lash salons after all. The initial eyebrow sculpt, depending on the salon, cost $75 with a senior stylist $80 with the Director. The following appointments after that will cost $70 and $75 respectively. Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream

I picked the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream up just before winter really hit us, be mindful that I do live in Queensland and winter isn't too brutal on us to begin with but all the cold winds, air-con, heaters and the like completely suck the moisture from my skin and lips. I will say I am addicted to my Maybelline Baby Lips and will continue to use them but I felt I needed a real impact product that would more treat and repair then protect. Enter the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream, this little tube of goodness is a cold weather staple for me now and will be coming with me to Tassie in September for sure (It's gonna be cold, arctic winds and all!). To begin here is what AESOP has to say about it.

A non-greasy, vitamin-rich cream to soothe and hydrate lips.
This Vitamin E-rich, lightweight cream – formulated for the delicate and sensitive skin of the lips – replenishes moisture and softens lips. It contains no silicone or paraffin, and is formulated for frequent use.

Having Rosehip Seed, Tocopherol and Ylang Ylang as the main ingredients mentioned on the tube you can expect great things from this lip product. Don't let its small size fool you this 6ml tube packs a whollup.

The best way to apply the Rosehip Seed Lip Cream is with your forefinger and just dab it onto the lips and smooth. I found the cream to absorb super quickly and it didn't leave a residue or any sticky feeling on the lips. I am using the lip cream before bed mainly as skin and lips repair overnight so they benefit greatly from the boost of moisture. You only need about a rice grain amount to completely cover the lips which makes this 6ml tube last ages. With constant application it is easy to achieve soft, hydrated lips that don't suffer from the elements.

The Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream has a floral aroma that is not displeasant or strong and has no flavour so I'm unlikely to lick it all off before it does its intended job. Texture wise it's a very lightweight cream and does not feel heavy on the lips. My lips feel conditioned, softened and hydrated. The tube is really sleek and adheres to the image Aesop has put forward with all its products. Straightforward and to the point, with benefits and ingredients front and center. As it is a squeezy tube you do need to be careful how hard you press or you may end up with too much product. At $15 AUD it really is a good price for a large skincare brand like Aesop and as the product lasts a while it doesn't feel wasteful. Bonus you will feel great supporting an Australian born brand. Woo!

The only thing I do not like about the Rosehip Seed Lip Cream is the applicator, it's small and needs to be applied to the finger tips and not straight to the lips. It also get product all over itself. Fun times. This leaves a mess in the lid but I can live with that.

Overall I am enjoying this little powerhouse and will continue to use it throughout the year, it is so worth the $15 to add this to your beauty bag or handbag for all year round lip comfort.

Tips and Tricks, How To Save Your Makeup Brush Labels

Now I know I hate it when I adore a makeup brush so much that I need to buy another one or need to replace one and when I look at the label it has rubbed off. This is a pain in the ass, honestly. Today I want to share with you my trick of how to save your makeup brush labels. I hope some of you know this pain too so I don't feel like the weirdo who holds her brushes the wrong way. (Not really but maybe.) Let's get to it.

I picked up this trick ages ago and now when I wash my brushes I do this trick to any new additions. Your makeup brushes new best friend is nail polish! Believe it or not (and I know how weird that sounds but bare with me). Feel free to use any top coat it really doesn't matter what brand it is as long as you trust it to last.

Clear nail polish or more specifically top coat is the perfect thing to lock in those easily faded labels. I simply dab the polish onto the label, slowly working my way across the name and number, do not swipe down the label as you would a nail as this can smear your letters together! (learnt that one the hard way, why!?) and allow to dry overnight. From now on you will have preserved, shiny labels on your brushes that won't smear or wash off easily. Of course there is the possibility that constant use may wear down the polish and you may need to reapply. Keep an eye on them!

This shiny layer is the only sign that polish is on your brush. The label is protected.

So there you have it, so incredibly simple yet so effective. I hope you can use this trick to save your makeup brush labels from wearing off.

L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds. Review and Swatches.

I missed out on the L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Nude's collection so when I heard the Pure Red's collection was about to land on our shores I was constantly dropping into Priceline to see if they had arrived yet. (Oh yeah they know me now too) Luckily (and some times not) Priceline is right next door to work!. Funnily enough I found the lipsticks in Target, go figure. So after much in store swatching and pondering which ones I loved the most to start my L'Oreal lipstick collection with I give you Blake, Doutzen and Laetitia. Let's get into this!

The skinny for L'Oreal Paris

The Collection Exclusive Reds, each shade has been chosen to specifically complement every woman's skin tone. Finding the perfect red has never been easier.
Colour Riche lipstick is formulated with the purest and finest colour pigments, along with the unique combination of Omega 3 Oils and Vitamin E for smooth colour and comfortable wear.

How it sized up

Packaging - The packaging is a nice in between of luxe and less. It looks incredible with the sleek black python / panther / burnt wood (I'm really not sure) print with a bold emblazoned band running around its center. The tube has a nice weight to it, is well balanced and doesn't feel cheap.

BLAKE, A gorgeous blue based red that isn't too bright,

Price - The L'Oreal Color Riche lipsticks retail for $21.95 AUD. I managed to snag these during a Target 30% off sale bringing them down to roughly $16 AUD. I feel this is an excellent price point for these fab lippies.

Longevity - I applied my colour for work at 1pm and left it on til 10.30pm. It didn't fade or wear away (and I tend to suck on my lips when I'm concentrating) and applied really smoothly with a brush. It only wore off a little bit in the center when I had dinner which made me need to reapply Blake to my lips. I didn't use a lip liner with this and I had no feathering around the edges of my lips. This would have keep on lasting if I didn't have to take it off. In saying that it removed fairly easily with makeup remover but left a bit of a stain behind.

DOUTZEN, A flaming orange that is so flattering.

Feel / Finish - With a semi matte finish it feels a touch drying on the lips but not uncomfortably so. I didn't feel like I needed to apply a gloss or balm over the top. The semi matte finish is a nice in between and doesn't catch on any dry patches on the lips. Nor does it emphasis cracks in the lips bonus! I talk a lot in my jobs and the colour didn't crack or separate.

Opacity - A applied the colour with a brush which didn't take long to build up full opacity. No sheerness here! Just bold color. I applied two layers for full impact.

LAETITIA, A blue based plum red, pulls more red then purple.

Overall

I really enjoyed this lipstick and got quite a few compliments on it. I kept double taking myself in the mirror as I hardly wear red lipstick. It felt comfortable all day and the color lasted really well. I would absolutely recommend you check out the L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Reds lipsticks and their fantastic range of colours.

How Blake wore after 9 hours with one re application after eating. Only a little feathering around the edges but the colour is still good.

Last I saw the L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds collection is available at Target and I would assume Priceline in Australia. These do not seem to be on the L'Oreal Paris Australian website yet.

How To - Water Droplet Manicure

To achieve this awesome 3D manicure just follow these simple, quick and easy steps. I first cleaned the nail plate with nail polish remover on a cotton pad then applied OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat. Follow this with two coats of OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard from the L.E Spiderman Collection, (or any reflective, multi coloured polish). Let this become touch dry before moving onto the water droplets.

To create the water droplets I made a little puddle of OPI Gel Top Coat onto a wipeable surface and using a slim nail art brush scooped some of the top coat up and dropped it onto the nail in random drop sizes. I cured the droplets under my OPI Gel Lamp for 2 minutes to ensure they are completely set. I chose not to use a top coat as I felt it didn't allow the bubbles to be as big as I wanted them to be. I finished them off by spraying a cotton pad with OPI's NAS and wiped over each nail to remove any sticky residue left by the Gel, and DONE! (Don't forget to wipe the excess Gel top coat for the puddle off your surface with nail polish remover! or you could end up with a sticky mess.)

You can use absolutely any nail polish and Gel polish you have but it has to be a gel that needs to be cured with a light not the lamp-less version you can now get. Let me just say I use OPI because it's a brand I love and trust and chose to get my Gel nail kit from them. I am not in anyway affiliated or sponsored by them nor have I received any products to use / review from them.

I first saw this manicure on @u_nona's Instagram page. She also has a video tutorial but I changed out the Gel base coat for a Gel top coat as I had no luck with creating water droplets with the base polish. I also used a different polish colour as I didn't have anything similar to what she used.

L'Oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings Mascara Review

This is the line that accompanies the L'Oreal Paris False Lash Butterfly Wings Mascara. I have been using this mascara for maybe 2 months now and I do really enjoy it. This product retails for $25.95 AUD from any major retailer, e.g Priceline, Big W, Target, Myer, etc. Out of all the formulas of mascara available I prefer volumising formulas and this one does make it seem like my lashes thicken up. I have the normal non waterproof formula but it is also available in a waterproof version.

Product Benefits - Complete your winged eye look with volumised and fanned out lashes. False Lash Butterfly Wings mascara instantly volumises at the roots and stretches your lashes outwards for a winged eye effect.
Innovation - The 1st mascara with asymmetrical brush. The asymmetrical brush helps lift and stretch your outer lashes to amplify the fanned out lash effect.
Instructions - Fan out your lashes by applying False Lash Butterfly Wings mascara from the roots upwards and outwards to the corners of your eyes.The asymmetrical shape of the mascara brush helps lift and stretch your outer lashes to amplify the fanned out lash effect.

Packaging - L'Oreal have done a good job with this one. A little on the bulky side but really comfortable to hold. Simple reflective silver with lines exploding from the label make this look like a classy mascara and very appealing to a shopper. With a rounded shape, all except one side, which is flat and has the label it looks almost rocket like. The lid has a little locking mechanism when the wand clicks into place which I love because I know it is closed and no more air is going to get in and dry out the product. The wand is unique too, it has an asymmetrical shape and is made of rubber with a flexible joint before the brush. Unlike other mascaras with flexible joints this one you can use pressure with without it bending and preventing the lashes becoming coated.
Longevity - This mascara lasts and lasts! I am impressed. Small amount of under eye smudging but nothing a little cotton bud can't whip away. As this is the regular version if you do get teary eyed this does smudge everywhere easily.
Flakiness - There is minimal flaking from this mascara, a little fallout under the eyes as the day progresses but otherwise minimal.
Pigment - If black is what you want then black is what you will get, the pigment is nice and strong and long lasting.
Ease of Use - This wand is so easy to use, as it is an asymmetrical wand it makes it easier to get into the corners on the eyes and get all the little lashes. This creates a fanned out effect.
Texture / Formula - The mascara has a very workable consistency and isn't runny or thin, it doesn't feel too wet and on the lashes it feels almost rubbery and flexible. Luckily it doesn't feel stiff and dry. The formula does what it says, it volumises and lengthens without creating spider lashes.
Price - I generally don't like to pay more then $12 for a mascara so I would wait for a sale on this one. RRP 25.95 AUD.
Repurchase - In future I would repurchase this mascara but as I do have so many more to try by the time I get there there will probably be another one available.

Overall - I feel this mascara creates more volume and even length. I am pleased with its staying power as long as my eyes don't water and would repurchase this again. I give it a 8/10. Now for some photos! Sorry there are a few, I try to be as comprehensive as possible.

Foundation Finishes, The Key To Your Final Look.

When looking for a foundation not only do you have to colour match but you also need to think about things like:

Your skin type. This is as most foundations now come with some kind of skincare hidden inside.
What coverage you want. This is how much of your natural skin you want to show through the foundation.
What formula you want. Foundation can come in many forms, liquid, powder, cream, mousse, mineral, cake, stick, liquid to powder, etc.
What finish you want. This is what you want your skin to look like once the foundation has settled.

Today I want to touch on foundation finishes. I will be using liquid foundations to demonstrate. A foundations finish is how you want your skin to look not just how much skin you want to show through your foundation. A finish can be altered by using a powder on top, this can set the foundation so it doesn't move and gives it a powder or matte finish. We always talk about what coverage a foundation or base has, its longevity, if it settled into any lines or has creased. But it is seldom that finishes are brought up. Personally for years I was a fan of the matte finish as I have an oily combo skin type, but as I have learned more about my skin and how to care for it oil has become less of a problem. This has opened my foundation experience up exponentially and I've been able to try new and different formulations. I'm still a fan of my liquid to powder foundation that gives a natural finish but I'm up for trying more. So to begin let's go through a few different finishes that are available from your foundation.

Natural. This is best described as what your skin would normally look like just with a more even, natural colour. This is the most common finish that foundation comes in.
Matte. This one is designed for those who despise shine, they tend to look more like a powder once set.
Satin. The satin finish can sometimes be described as a sheen as it's not dewy but its not matte, it's a comfortable in between.
Luminous. Also called dewy this makes your skin appear as though it is glowing from within with a opalescent sheen. Not to be mistaken for shiny. We never want shiny.

Below I've applied a few different liquid foundation finishes I own so you can see the difference and maybe identify the one you prefer to wear. I have only applied foundation to the left side of my face so as you're viewing this you'll be looking at the right side. (Hope that makes sense) All these photos have been taken in natural sunlight with no editing or filters besides the line down the middle. No other makeup or primer has been applied so you can see the true finish. Primers also have the ability to change a foundations finish as does a powder.

My Experience with Sephora Sydney

Sephora on Pitt St Mall in Sydney

For the last 5 days I've been down in Sydney for my "Christmas Holiday" as I worked over the Christmas break. Of course my main thought was "Oh, Sephora's in Sydney!", and magically on my first day there I found my way to Sephora. I walked all the way from our hotel in Darlinghurst to Pitt St Mall by working my way towards the Sydney Tower, the one that has the giant Westfield sign on it. When I saw it I could not wipe the giant grin off my face and my poor boyfriend was like "Oh god, what?" he hates when I drag him into a makeup store. But he let me spend as long as I wanted in there (on his phone on Facebook but that's fine by me :) ) I'm glad to report as how often am I going to fly to Sydney. I went back on my second last day to shop some more! Any way onto the good stuff.

So first off I didn't realise it was two storeys! OMG! Makeup, nails and perfume downstairs, skin and hair care upstairs. Also the registers are upstairs so they make you see the whole shop before you check out. Now I have nothing to compare this experience to as I've never been to an American Sephora but I'll go over general feel of the store. I was surprised to learn that they did not have Urban Decay in the store but maybe this is due to Mecca Maxima jut announcing their bringing Urban Decay to us? who knows? The staff there are super helpful, when you can grab one. No matter what time of day I went in (I went to Sephora maybe 4 or 5 times : s ) it was always packed! But they are more than happy to answer questions, colour match and tell you product benefits and the best way to apply them.

The layout of the store is easy to understand but the only bummer is that so many products are out of stock! They have been open for at least two month by now they should have their stock levels sorted you would hope. Be sure you save time to check out all the small products they have in the line for the check outs. Some really cute and awesome stuff in there!

Overall I had a great experience and am eager to go back again (When I can afford the plane fare) . The vibe within the store is one of excitement but crowded excitement, you just can't move sometimes! I just wish the prices were a bit lower, we get so gouged here is Aus. I hope you can go check out this Sephora soon!

My first attempt using this liner was very uncoordinated. It feel it is very difficult to use. I found that both the tip and the fatter sides of the pen were not able to draw an even line and I ended up with lumps and bumps everywhere. The colour isn't very opaque and takes a few layers to build the colour up to black. I found the liner easily transferred onto my lids even though I had a base shadow down to try and stop this. Do keep in mind I have hooded lid though.

I will continue to try to use this, it may be a matter of getting used to the fatter pen and tip size. I will keep you updated on how this one goes but for now, I am not excited about this product.

Product Fails

There comes a time in all makeup enthusiasts life that you try a product and it just does not work for you, and it is such a let down and really depressing. This is one of those times. Even though I love these brands and their products these few just did happen for me. Just a little word before we begin, these are my own thoughts and feelings on these products. Just because they didn't work for me doesn't mean they won't work for you. I believe having enough information on a product before purchasing is so important, especially here in Australia where makeup cost so much more than anywhere else. So here we go.

Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Brown.
Let me just start by saying I adore Maybelline, it's my favourite drugstore brand, they're makeup is amazing, except this (sigh). I found the Brow Drama to be really awkward to use, I felt like I ended up with more product on my skin then in my brows. This "sculpting brow mascara" dries hard like a mascara and I know I want my brows to stay in place but I don't want them to feel or look crunchy. The wand is really awkward to use and I ended up with more product on my brows then I wanted. I definitely prefer my other brow gels over this one. Sorry Maybelline.

Revlon Photo Ready Primer
I tried to love this guy with its promise of "Perfecting primer". This felt like silicone going onto my skin and I don't believe that it helped with the longevity of my makeup. The bottle, where to begin, even with the cap on the product dries up in the bottle and get stuck in the nozzle causing it to spit out chunks of product when you try to use the pump. So that is a major annoyance for me. I didn't love this primer, there are more better suited primers out there for me.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Lipcolor
I will start by saying I have had these for a while and they may not even be available anymore and hopefully Revlon have changed and improved the formula. These lip colours I suppose are supposed to be like a liquid lipstick but I found that these felt really heavy and super sticky on the lips. They are for sure long wearing but after maybe an hour of wear they began to ball up and roll around on my lips. I of course had to discover this while I was at a job interview for a makeup job, not a good look. Then it just left a really hard to remove stain around the outside line of my lips only (this is where the colour stay comes in). Now I know I've had these for a while but they have been like this since I purchased them. The Colorstay Lipcolor smell and taste bad and are just uncomfortable to wear. Sorry Revlon but I really hope you've improved this one.

Again even though these products didn't work for me does not mean they won't work for you. All makeup lines will have products that just doesn't sit well with everyone. I do love both these companies and will continue to purchase products for them and hope that I do love them (which I usually do) but on the occasion that something doesn't work out then that's just unfortunate.

Please do try these products for yourself in store and make up your own mind on them but do keep in mind that they may have some drawbacks like everything out there.

Spring Favourites!

I feel I don't try enough products or have enough variation in my routine to have a monthly favourites post every month so I've decided to do seasonal favourites. Here in Australia we have just finished our spring season so now I have some products I've been loving within the last 3 months. Here we go!

Maybelline Better Skin
You can see my first impressions / review here.

Australis Contour Kit
This beauty I only new to my collection but has become an amazing staple (I'm considering going out and buying a backup, if I can find one). My favourite shades wold have to be the two in the middle. The yellow powder in the highlighting row to set and brighten my under eye area and the lightest contour shade of the three to contour and shape my face.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Gel in Brunette
This lil' baby is amazing when you're time poor and with our Queensland temps it doesn't easily sweat off! I love being able to just brush this amazing product through my brows and move onto other things.

Dior Extase Mascara in Black (not pictured, sorry!)
I can get easy lash volume with this formula from Dior. It's not cheap at $52 AUD a tube but as a one off purchase I am extremely happy with it. One coat is all it takes for this to give me beautiful, full, flirty lashes.

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer
This primer is a nice lightweight formula so it doesn't feel thick and heavy in our warmer climate. I feel it gives my foundation the perfect base to smooth over and it really does help my makeup last all day. Bonus it smells and feels like moisturiser.

Smart Skin Facial Cleaning Wipes
I adore these facial cleansing wipes available from Woolworths for $2.12 for pack of 25 wipes. I use these everyday to remove the bulk of my makeup before I cleanse my skin so I can get the best results and a deep clean from my cleanser. They come in scented and unscented and are both alcohol and oil free. "Cleanses, tones and removes makeup for soft and refreshed skin". My skin doesn't feel striped after using these wipes which is awesome.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes in Radiant Magenta and Diffused Heat
Hourglass can do no wrong. Especially when it comes to these blushes, they are AMAZING, anyone else agree? I love my two shades that I have as I can choose if I want a brighter or softer blush colour. They are so highly pigmented, easy to apply and blend and are such beautiful spring colours.

Eco Tan Exfoliating Glove (not pictured sorry!)
For the smoothest skin I use this glove. It is made from bamboo fibers and is machine washable! This glove is fantastic at removing old spray or self tan or just for giving your skin a great exfoliation. This is perfect for use before getting a new tan.

Vera Wang Princess EDT Perfume
This is my go to signature fragrance, I adore it. I love the flirty soft smell of this gorgeous heart shaped bottle.
"Oriental-floral fragrance, launched in 2006 as a modern and playful magical elixir. DNKY Be Delicious
This is such an amazing green apple fragrance I love wearing it in spring as a fresh, uplifting scent.
A refreshing scent in an iconic apple-shaped bottle tempts you to take a bite out of life. A sophisticated blend of apples, exotic flowers and woods creates a fresh, juicy scent that can only be called delicious. (From here)

Yuva Gentle Foaming Cleanser
I only have the travel size when it comes to this skincare beauty but it is easily one of my faves. It is a foam that easily spreads on wet skin and gives a deep clean. I love that this product doesn't leave my oily/ combination skin dry or tight. Yuva is not tested on animals and Australian made and owned! The key ingredients in this cleanser are lavender, sage, rosemary, aloe vera, oakbark and yarrow extracts.

Maybelline Color Elixir Glosses.
These beautiful glosses smell amazing for starters and go on so smoothly. The colours are rich and opaque but not sticky or heavy and long wearing. I only have four of these babies but if we ever get the colours that have been released in America I will absolutely get some more. From Maybelline, A new generation lip lacquer that delivers the creamy shine of a lip gloss, saturated colour of a lipstick and cushiony comfort of a lip balm.

I have been loving this liquid lately, I get a short angled eye brush and get the liquid off the applicator and find it so much easier to apply that way, It really is glossy when applied but I set it with a matte black shadow to keep it in place on my oily hooded lids. These gorgeous liners from Chi Chi for there Holiday Collection are some of the best liners I've been able to play with, the colour selection is fantastic an they are a definite need for your Christmas list!

I found these liners to be very pigmented, very hard to smudge once dry and waterproof. The pack comes with 10 colours! These liners apply very smoothly and don't drag on the eyelid. The colour is buildable so you can choose your intensity and the tip doesn't snap off during application. I have quite oily lids and this liner stayed on and didn't transfer onto my lid. I wore the "Dream Lover" eyeliner all day and I decided to clean the house, in a heat wave, so I was sweating (sorry, tmi?) and this liner did not budge or smear or transfer and stayed as colour intense as when I put it on. I highly recommend that you use an oil based eye makeup remover to take this off. I am impressed by these liners and can't wait to incorporate these colourful liners into my looks.

Spring Lipsticks - Lime Crime Geradium

Continuing on from my last Spring Lipsticks post I present to you another fabulous bright and fun lipstick colour!

Lime Crime Geradium with flash

Geradium is a hot pink with a splash of a coral undertone. Its such a playful colour and is fully deserving of being a part of my Spring Lipstick series. Lime Crime lipsticks in general I find are quite opaque and creamy and really go the distance. Not only do they have this amazing colour in there collection but many other fantastic, fun colours to play with! Bonus! Lime Crime lipsticks are vegan and not tested on animals!

How To - Winged Eyeliner for the Absolute Beginner.

OK so winged eyeliner is among one of the most difficult things to master makeup wise. It's right up there with smokey eyes and cream contouring, ya feel me?

So I really wanted to share with you a way to create a winged liner look without being fantastic at free handing a wing onto the outside of your eye. I have found that this works amazingly well for me. I hope you're as thrilled with this as I am.

What you'll need for your wing:
Sticky Tape (just the basic kind you use for gift wrapping)
Matte Black Eye shadow (I'll be using one by Inglot)
Liquid or Gel Eyeliner (I'm using Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Eyeliner)
Concealer
Stiff Angled Eye Brush
Concealer Brush

How To Create Your Winged Liner!
To begin grab a piece of sticky tape about 3-4 cm long. Now you're going to stick this to your face, don't be scared it won't ruin any makeup you already have on (if need be a bit of concealer to clean up after is brilliant). You want to place the sticky tape just under the edge of you lower lashes and stick it on an angle up to the end of you eyebrow. See here.

Now that you have your tape placed give it a good press so there are no air bubbles to ruin you line. Using a stiff angled brush map out how long you want your wing to be along the sticky tape and connect it down to the outer corner of your eye using the matte black eyeshadow. Using the shadow means you can easily fix up the line without it getting incredibly messy.

Now that you have the length that you want close your eye (try to keep the other eye open to see what you're doing) and draw the wing to the width that you want, thick or thin or in between. Generally you want to start about a third of the way down the wing and drag the line to anywhere in between the outer third of your eye to the halfway point of your eye. Go ahead and connect that wing to your upper lash line to create the width of your wing. Once you're happy go ahead and line the rest of your eye. Fill in that wing with the shadow so the liner has something to grab.

Ok when you're completely happy with how your wing is looking, (remember to check against the other eye so that they are even! this is so important!!) You can go over the wing with the liquid or gel liner. (I'm using liquid so for this tutorials sake I'm going to say liquid.) Again starting at the extended line of the wing draw down from the end point to the outer corner of your eye. I find it is easier to get the liquid liner off the wand/brush provided and load it onto your angled brush so you get the same crisp line that you were able to achieve with the shadow. Then you want to draw the width line down to the lash line, generally the middle of you're eye is a good guide if you're going for a fatter wing. Fill in your wing and draw the rest of your line on.

If you're like me and have hooded eyes I like to set my liner with the matte shadow again so it doesn't transfer onto my brow bone. (hooded eye problems). To finish remove your sticky tape from underneath the eye and peel upwards then clean up your wing with some concealer. Just run a little bit under your eye and with a concealer brush slowly go along your wing and sharpen that line. Add your favourite mascara and you're good to go!

It takes a little work but the payoff is awesome. Having the control with the shadow makes it easier to create that perfect wing but still having the ability to clean up without having black smudges everywhere.

I heard about this new long wear foundation that can actually improve your skin a couple of months ago via Instagram. I love Instagram it alerts me to all these amazing new products! The Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Foundation promises "Instant even tone", "Better looking skin in 3 weeks"and "All day wear non-transfer". The Better Skin Foundation is available in 8 shades. It's a lot to live up to!

After trying this foundation for a few days I am pleasantly surprised. It gives me good coverage and feels really comfortable on the skin all day, I tested this out during full days at work to really see what its worth. I have shade 020 Cameo which was a nice change as I normally have to get the lightest colour, and I could have but I wanted to warm up my complexion a little bit. I am so happy with my colour choice. It has a "flawless" dewy finish and does actually lasts all day without oxidizing on me. I found there was no wear off or creasing which was a fantastic bonus. I love that the Better Skin has an SPF of 14 in it as I like having that little extra coverage during the day. It feels a little thick when you apply it but it blends and smooths out nicely. One pump covers my entire face and partly down my neck. I could build it up if I wanted to.

The bottle itself is well presented with a pump top, which I prefer, for easy amount control and hygiene. It's cute with its dark blue pump that matches the colour of the Better Skin label. You get a decent 30ml of product in the little glass bottle and you have a recommended 12 months from opening to use it.

One Brand Makeup - Gorgeous Cosmetics

So I have been seeing a lot of one brand makeups recently and it had me thinking, what do I have enough of to do a full face makeup look? So I went digging through my collection and came up with a consistently favourite brand of mine, Gorgeous Cosmetics! I actually have enough to do more than one full face. Whoops. I love, love, love this brand but it is so hard to get here in Brisbane now the McArthur Central store has closed : ( , the only two in store places to get this awesome brand are Terry White Chemist at Gasworks New Farm and Hub Makeup on Burnett Lane in Brisbane City You should go and check them out! Wearable Everyday Eye Look

Face
To start I applied First Base Foundation Primer all over my face, this feels and smells more like a moisturiser than a primer and doesn't feel silicon like at all which is lovely. This primer barely takes any time to absorb and feels incredibly hydrating. Next I buffed my Sheer Brilliance Liquid Foundation in the shade 1B-SB (I am super pale) all over my face and down my neck. This is a sheer coverage with a dewy finish. I then concealed any blemishes and dark spots with my trusty Camouflage Cover Creme (concealer) in Medium Neutral. I set my t-zone with the Powder Perfect Powder Foundation in 01-PP then comes the contouring. I use Endless Summer Bronzing Powder for this. I contour under my cheekbones, along my temples, under my jaw and down my nose. To add some colour and sparkle to my face I applied my Summer Prism Highlighter over the apples of my cheeks and up my cheek bones. I love blush this is probably where you will find the most colour on my face usually. I adore the Colour Pro blush in Rhubarb, I apply this to the applies of my cheek and up my cheekbones as well . I then layer highlighters first Prism Highlighter in Prism - 01 then Superstar Liquid Shimmer in Gold Dust on top of my cheek bones to finish my face.

Eyes
I start with my brows when it comes to eyes, I first fill in my brows with the Brow Pencil (no colour name) and set them with Brow Fix. I wanted to create an everyday wearable look for you so I chose to use my Everyday Palette. Firstly I applied sticky tape from the corner of my brow to just under my lower lashes to create a sharp cat eye. I start my shadow with So Nice all over my crease and up to my brow bone as a transition shade then I added Gem through my crease, both with deluxe crease brushes, and deepened it with Hedgehog on a pencil brush. I placed Plum all over my mobile lid with a small fluffy brush and blended any harsh edges. To highlight my brow bone I used Eye Shimmer in Suede on a small definer brush. My ILine Liquid Eyeliner Pen and I are not getting on today so my liner isn't perfect and it's running out, but using the stick tape as a guide I created a small wing and drew the line back down to the inner corner. I found my Formula Five Mascara had dried up (whelp!) so for this look I had to use my Dior Diorshow Extase as a substitute. I only applied mascara on my top lashes.

To make my eyes more dramatic I applied Eye Shimmer in Aqua under my lower lashes and highlighted my inner corners with Eye Shimmer in Snow Twinkle.

Lips
Firstly lining my lips with Crystelle lip pencil and filling in my entire lip to create a base for my colour. I then apply Sugar all over my lips straight from the bullet and put Liquid Lips in Lily on top to finish and add shine.

And there you go a full face of Gorgeous Cosmetics. I adore it! It turned out so well, I will absolutely be wearing this out again very soon!

Workday Makeup

Now I don't know about you but I want getting ready for work to be more relaxed and no where near stressful, I like to enjoy my time before I go to work. So when it comes to makeup I like to look pu together but be quick about it.

I have got my makeup application down to under ten minutes! (If I don't wear any eye shadows, generally add 3-5 extra minutes) It took ages to get my rhythm going for this.

Here is what I apply and how I apply my makeup for a speedy morning.

I begin with my ASAP 30+ Moisturising Daily Defence. I adore this moisturiser/sunscreen hybrid. It doesn't smell or feel like sunscreen and I don't breakout from it.
After letting the Daily Moist absorb for a few minutes I apply NYX Photo Loving Primer and let that absorb for a minute. (I'll do my hair or make a cup of tea while I wait)
I follow with L'Oreal Eau De Teint Foundation in 120 Ivory. This is applied with fingers, a drop to each area (forehead, nose, chin, cheeks) and blend out with my hands.
I put on my concealers next. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla for any blemishes and Maybelline Age Rewind in Fair for under the eyes. Again i blend these out with my fingers. So much quicker that way.
If I've had to use a lot of concealer I will apply my FOA Translucent powder next and brush all over the face with a large powder brush. If not I will apply this after I have finished my face products but before I begin my eyes.
Next using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush I contour with The Balm Bahama Mama. I start under my cheekbones, then under the jaw and along the temples.
Bronzer comes next, I am loving The Balm Betty Lou-Manizer currently and sweep it over my cheeks. I use a Manicare Artiste Bronzer Brush for this.
I follow with a blush. I change my blush everyday so I'll wear whatever catches my attention that day. I love the Real Techniques Blush Brush for applying and blending out.
Next I do my eyebrows! I have been using Maybelline Master Shape brow pencil in Light Brown, and quickly feather it through and comb with a spooly. I will finish my brows with a quick sweep of Gorgeous Cosmetics Brow Fix to set them in place.
If I'm not doing eyeshadow I skip straight ahead to my favourite liquid eyeliner Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in Black and do a half to three quarter line on my top lash line.
I only apply one coat of mascara to my top lashes as I don't like a heavy, clumpy look. My go to is generally Revlon Grow-luscious Mascara or Dior Diorshow Extase, both are in black.
I don't generally wear a lip colour as I hate reapplying them throughout the day, but if I do I will often opt for something long lasting like MAC or Lime Crime. (pictured Kelly Osbourne Dodgy Girl and Lime Crime Cosmopop).
Finally I set everything with a few spritzes of the Australis Make-Up Finishing Spritz and I am good to go.

That's it, quick and put together and off to work. Occasionally I will mix up my liner and opt for a coloured liquid liner if I feel like playing a little.

August Favourites

It's that time again folks, it's the end of the month! August has been huge, not only is it the last month of winter here in Aus but I celebrated my 22nd birthday! It's been my busiest month by far and I'm pretty sure I have bought the most makeup this month too! (damn sales). So here are the things I have been loving for the month of August!

Face Of Australia Translucent powder
I use this to set my foundation and concealer (I have been using a lot of concealer lately) and it has been wonderful. Previously I was using my Australis Ready Set Go Translucent Powder (which I still love) but it turns my face white, whereas the FOA powder is tinted and gives me the perfect colour and it's not too heavy.

HP Envy Laptop
My new baby! I got this beauty at the end of July but it has improved my life so much. It has windows 8 but I have found it user friendly, I was so off put by it on a friends computers but I do actually quite like it. I feel my blogging will improve now I have this incredible machine.

Erin Bigg Blush in Honeybell
This gorgeous blush is so highly pigmented I only need to use a small amount to get the perfect flush on my cheeks. This is my go to when I just want a little natural colour. I love all of the Erin Bigg Cosmetics blushes.

Tangle Teezer
This has replaced all my brushes as it has soft pliable bristles so it doesn't snag, break or pull my hair out, It is also fantastic for anyone with extensions. It's a little bit bigger than the size of my palm and I got it on Beauty Bay before it was available in Aus. I adore this and will probably never use anything else.

NYX Photo Loving Primer
I have been using this under every makeup application and I feel it makes big difference. Creating a smooth surface for foundation and keeps my makeup and place all day.

Napoleon Perdis 15b Brush
I love how this brush is shaped it is perfect for carving out cheekbones with its slim head and dense bristles. It creates a great line under the bone and is easy to blend with I would absolutely recommend this if you are after a contouring brush.

Face Of Australia Dark Side Nail Polishes
These polishes were highly anticipate for their intense colours. As the name suggests they are based on darker tones and have villainous names to match. I have polishes in Ursula, Maleficent, Magneto and Mystique (see a pattern here?) at present. These colours go on easily, are creamy and opaque and last quite well. Great polishes for a great low price. Available at Priceline, Big W, Target, etc.

1920' Flapper Smokey Eye Look

1920's inspired smoky eye.

I recently went to a 21st which was a 1920's themed party, I chose to go as a flapper girl which meant makeup fun. Below I have broken down the steps of how I created my smokey 1920's eye look. Simple yet intense.

I did my eyes before the rest of my face as working with black eye shadow usually come with a lot of fallout and can gt messy very quickly.

To begin I placed sticky tape from just under my lower lash line to the end of my brow to create a nice sharp line. I then primed my eyes with Lime Crime Eye Shadow Helper in Waterproof.

I applied Maybelline Color Tattoo in 15 Audacious Asphalt to my lid and up my crease to intensify the black shadow. I then went in with my Inglot matte black eye shadow through my crease first and blended it out, smoking it up my brow bone as much as possible. I also bought the black onto the outer third of my lid. Once I was happy with the amount of smokiness I highlighted my brow bone with Inglot eye shadow in 395 which is a champagne like colour and blended in into the black. I patted the royal purple shade out of the Chi Chi Rich Gems Glamorous Eye Shadow Palette onto the lid and made sure it was intense. After this I went back in and softened any lines between the black and purple with a fluffy blending brush. I highlighted my inner corner with Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in 25 Wild Gold and blended this softly into the purple. I went back in with the black and a small smudge brush and pushed the black into my upper lash line.

To finish the eye look I removed the tape and cleaned up any fallout. This is when I primed my face and applied foundation and concealer. Once my under eyes were concealed I was able to go in under my lower lash line and apply the matte black shadow to the outer third, the purple to the center and the gold around the tear duct and just under the lash line, blending it all together for a smooth transition.

I applied Dior Diorshow Extase mascara to my top and bottom lashes and placed Model Rock Lashes in 747M as close to my natural lashes as possible.

For brows I used my NYX Eyebrow Cake powder in Dark Brown with an eyebrow brush and secured my brows with Gorgeous Cosmetics Brow Fix.

These are all the products used for the completed look.

Here is a look at my completed costume. The flapper dress is from Costume Collection which is an Australian costume company with next day shipping. All jewelry is from Lovisa except my bracelets which are from Mimco and Loyal watch.

Dragonberry Lipsticks. Worth The Hype?

As you may have noticed Dragonberry lipsticks have been sweeping Instagram. These lipsticks are available from the Dragonberry boutique, which is a clothing store in Australia, at a steal price of $10 AUD each (I manged to get them on sale for $5 AUD woo!). There are currently 16 shades available. These are;

When I was out shopping I picked up six shades for myself. Sherbet, Bramble, Queen Of Hearts, Pretty In Pink, Peachy Keen and Velvet Crush.

I find these lipsticks are super creamy and opaque. For their price point it is extremely good value, I know a few people believe the packaging is cheap but at $5 - $10 what were you expecting?. I think these are a great way to add to your lipstick collection without having to spend a lot of money.

After trying these for a few days I feel they are worth the hype. I wore "Queen Of Hearts" for 6 hours and didn't need to reapply the entire time. During these hours I had lunch, drinks, lots of talking and thinking (when I concentrate or think I tend to suck on my lips) and it barely moved. It applied so easily and barely needs any building, it applies opaque and just glides on. It felt really comfortable on the lips and didn't feel drying but actually quite creamy. At the 5-6 hour mark it did start to feel dry and like I should reapply but for a lipstick that kind of life span is awesome, it only really wore off on my inner lips. I would absolutely recommend these lipsticks! I want more!
