Whether you follow the 'when to wear it' fashion rules or not, white is definitely a hot color right now. Wearing it can be a bit tricky, but incorporating white accessories is an easy way to add the hue into your wardrobe. I have to admit, wearing white makes me feel like a spill magnet, but I still love it.

I never considered myself the decorative camera strap kind of gal, until I came across Bloom Theory, that is. How could you not love something covered in ruffles, sequins and lace?

It's hard to pick just one, but I think the Stardust Silver is my fave. (The Bohemian Belle is a close second!) Check out all the lovely options here.

Hello, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. I have to admit, I really needed the relaxation that came with this weekend. Although it was busy, my batteries are fully charged and I'm ready to tackle my 'to do' list and have a productive week. Here's a little glimpse into our Memorial Day, which was filled with friends, family, food, floating in the pool for hours, a very tired-from-swimming Tucker, and (of course) lots of fun.

And to Mama Fabulous, who worked so hard cooking & baking all the amazing food we enjoyed...THANK YOU!! You are the best! xo

Memorial Day Style

I have to admit, Memorial Day weekend crept up on me this year; May has flown by! For me, this weekend is the official start of summer, which means I want to spend the day by the pool. This year, I'll be grilling out and relaxing poolside with family and friends. I'm really looking forward to recharging my batteries and kicking off the summer season outdoors. What are your plans for the holiday?

Question of the Week // The Armadillo

While recently perusing the new arrivals of one of my go-to favorites, my oohs + ahhs quickly turned to hmms + umms. It was this little cutie, the armadillo handbag, that stopped me in my window shopping tracks.

I think it's adorable, cheeky, whimsical and fun, but I could never in a million years pull it off. So my question of the week is...would you carry it? I can't wait to hear your answers on this one, friends!

Bedside Shelves

I like to switch things up in my decor, and especially love when I can use something I already have to make a change. I recently pulled a small shelving unit out of storage to use as a bedside table. I really like the idea of using shelves instead of a traditional piece of furniture; it's unexpected and adds much needed storage.

After living with my bedside shelves for a few days, I have to say I'm really loving them. It's nice to have plenty of room for books, magazines, and the last minute things I put aside before bed, like earrings and my iPhone. Have you ever considered using shelves in a different way like this?

Color Inspiration // Under the Sea

My parents recently took a vacation to Mexico, and among the vacation photos were underwater pictures my dad took during his reef dive. I was immediately struck by two things: (1) he is as talented of a photographer under the sea as he is on dry land and (2) the colors are stunning! I am so inspired by the blues, lilacs and oranges that sprinkle the underwater world.

Isn't that a lovely palette? I wouldn't normally put those colors together, but it really works. Mother Nature knows best, I guess!

Summer Essentials

Here in Texas, summer has officially arrived. In fact, we've been walking around in maxi dresses, shorts and sandals since March. I've already had a few pools days and am putting my favorite summer essentials to good use.

COLORFUL BAUBLES // Over the weekend, my sister and I were talking about how earrings are her 'thing' and necklaces are mine. For summer, I say the bigger and brighter, the better, like this necklace from Swell Caroline.

BRONZER // During the summer, I skip the foundation and powder and just use bronzer instead. This one from Clinique is my current favorite.

FLAT SANDALS // I live in flat sandals all summer long. They go with everything...shorts, skirts, dresses and jeans. This pair is perfect for brunch with the fam or drinks with the girls on a patio.

SWIMWEAR // I'm a one piece kind of gal, and I love all the adorable retro-inspired options out there. This one from Anthropologie is so cute!

TEMPORARY BRONZER // I'm all about sunless tanning, but hate the commitment when the inevitable streak and icky smell happens. Enter this miracle lotion...it bronzes me for the day, then washes off in the shower. Love.

I'm starting a new feature today, Monday Moodboard, where I'll be sharing what's inspiring me in the coming week. Today, I'm feeling inspired by bright, summery hues; shades of fuschia, yellow, emerald, and orange. I love this combination so much that I decided to incorporate it into my blog design over the weekend (yes, I changed it up again...my blog is the ultimate guinea pig for me to try new things!)

Hello, dears! Thank you so much for your kind comments about my new patio set. I received lots of questions about where I got everything (especially this flamingo pillow) so I thought I'd share the details.

A few of the items don't seem to be available online anymore. (The coffee mugs, leopard and silver metallic pillows were all purchased on sale in the stores and the napkins can be found here.) I got a few questions about the terrarium + succulents; both were purchased and put together from West Elm. I had a hard time finding pillows I loved so I took a quick trip to the fabric store and found exactly what I wanted. Thanks again for your questions and comments; I hope you find this helpful!

Finding Joy

Hello, dears! I thought I'd do a little emotional check in of sorts today. So much of my blog is about pretty things, but really, not every day is pretty, right? I love this quote that I spotted on Seventeenth and Irving (thanks for sharing, Lauren!) It really applies to my life right now.

It's hard not to compare yourself to others, and even harder not to judge them out of jealously. I believe this is especially true in the blog world, where we put only the best versions of ourselves out there. Truth be told, I'm not quite where I want to be in my life. So many things have changed in the past year, yet I feel like I'm still in the same place. I've decided it's time to shake things up to head in a direction of finding joy. It's easy to settle for life as it is, but when you're not 100% happy, what's the point? Why not go for what you need to in order to find that joy? I sometimes find myself being resentful of someone when they don't do something how I want them to do it. It sounds kind of crazy when I type that out, but when I think about it, I realize it's because I'm not happy with something about myself. I'm going to change that. Each day I am going to try to be the best version of my current self. Not perfect. Just as good as I can be. One day at a time, I will eat better. Exercise more. Answer five more emails than I have time for. Set daily goals for work. And focus on me...starting today.
