I have been quiet these past few weeks figuring out how I am going to build this business of mine and how I can help others to achieve. I had several ideas go through my head, but the one that stuck was to run some sort of live experiment on cash generation on the web. My thinking was simple, learn how to make cash on the web and share that process with you folks.

So this is what I have done. I have set up a new website for a product launched by Matt Benwell. The site is http://www.rapidautomatedincomenow.com and the product is Rapid Automated Income. I am sure most of you will have recieved this in your e-mail boxes by now. In keeping with my idea of running an experiment I decided not to go the e-mail route with this product launch. Instead I have created a mini-website on the product and will see if this generates an income for me.

So what have I done?

Well I created a 6 page website focused on the product and linked it to Matt’s product launch page. Will this work? Will it make me money?

Well you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out.

I will post results here on my blog and we can all learn from my mistakes and I hope from my success.

I launched the site on Sunday July 25th 2010, the actual product lauch date was July 12th 2010! So I have not helped myself at all, since I have missed out on the first week of the launch. Still, it will be interesting to see if this mini site will generate an income for me.

There is one problem I have not been able to solve, and I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me with it.

I need to know how to cloak affiliate links.

Does anybody know anything about this subject?

I had lost sight of the goal and became engrossed in looking for an easier way to make this internet marketing work. And this loss of focus has cost me dear. Instead of doing what I should have been doing, working the plan I was off on all sorts of tangents.

Let this be a valuable lesson. There are no short cuts. To be successful means doing al lthe things Alex Jeffreys has taught all his students to do. Day in day out, just stick to it. Stop thinking for now and just do what he says. It works. Period.

So now that I have come back to my senses and stopped chasing short cuts I will post my efforts each day, good or bad.

Hopefully you my readers will learn from my mistake, and be able to build your own business without falling into the traps that I have fallen in.

Stay tuned, as I use my recent experience to drive me forward in building this business.

My first objective will be to go back to my 90 day plan and see how I can rescue it.

Take your foot off said accelerator and you start to coast and eventually come to a halt.  And this is what has happened to me these past weeks.  I have taken my foot of the accelerator.  I have stopped visiting blogs, stopped posting in forums not written any articles.  I have come to a complete and grinding halt, caught up in my own fear.

My fear is that I do not know enough about internet marketing to be able to produce a product of my own.  I lost sight of the bigger picture, I have been focusing on making a product rather than on providing content which people can make use of.  I have been guilty of chasing the money again.  So I need to get back out there and really find out what people are looking for.  I need to go out and help people, instead of waiting for people to come to me.

Why or how will they come to me? They don’t know me!  So I need to make a name for myself, which is exactly what my mentor Alex Jeffreys has told me to do.  So it’s back to basics, or rather “Forward to Basics” which is the title of Alex’s first coaching module.

I have spent today going over tutorial videos from Alex.  It is so easy to forget what has been covered.  I need to put together a daily “revision plan” to keep fresh in my mind all the material that Alex has covered.

But my motivation this evening has come from Sally’s blog, Sally Neill 2010.  I have drawn up a daily plan, but I have not been executing it, and I have been expecting the results to continue, how daft is that?
I posted my article yesterday and expected some comments today, but guess what, nothing, nada, zilch, zero.  Well if I am not out there promoting myself who will visit my blog? No one

So it’s back to the plan, following the plan produces measurable results.  And it’s back to visiting blogs and forums and posting valued comments.
And as I said to Sally I really need to find my direction.  I have all the tools I need to succeed; Alex has done a great job on that end of things.  So as usual the rest is up to me.

So this is me building my business, warts and all.  As Alex Jeffreys says “Internet marketing is simple, but not easy”, and  I have certainly learnt that these past weeks, but as I have said before , there is a living to be had in this business,  I just have to persevere and not give up, and this blog will remain a testimony to my struggles and eventual triumph.

As these questions flood your mind you are sized with terror and simply give up.  In this short report I will set out a method of article writing which will get you over these hurdles.  Before I present my report I have to be honest and say I attempted to write this report three times before settling on the method I have outlined below.
After posting the decision to write on how to gather information and write an article I was stumped.  I set about working straight away the same day.  I thought I would use my experience of Yahoo Answers to show how to locate hot topics people wanted information on.  So I got stuck in and started taking screen shots, but I soon came to a grinding halt.

The next day I tried a different tack.  I decided to use Google and Amazon to gather information and write another article.  Same thing happened.  I took screen shots, gathered information and came to a grinding halt.  Clearly what I was doing was wrong.  I was now into the weekend and this was family time, so I did not do any more work.  However, my subconscious mind got to work on the problem without my even realising it.

I woke up Monday morning with just a day before my deadline.  I immediately went downstairs and started brainstorming on “Article Marketing”.  Within minutes I had a completed brainstorm and I had an idea of how and what I was going to write about. I spent the rest of the day thinking and organising my thoughts.  I knew it could not be rushed and I knew I would not meet my deadline for Tuesday.  However I now had a plan to follow.

The moral of this story is to have a plan.  Yes of course we all know this, but until you attempt to accomplish a task without one you do not truly understand why you have to have a plan.

Below is how I approached this article on “Article Writing”

As you can see I started with a brainstorm using an A4 sheet of paper and a pen.  Nothing fancy, no technology, just my thoughts on a piece of paper.

The brain storming session took about 7 minutes, I had most things written down within two minutes, and really I should have stopped there.

I entered by brainstorm onto FreeMind, an opensource mind mapping software

This allowed me to add new items and to categorise what I had.

I made a few additions and changes to my mind map the next day, having slept on what I had done

The next step was to organise the order in which the article would be presented.  This simply involved rearranging the mind map into a coherent list as shown below.

I then exported the mind map as an HTML file which created my structure for my article.

I now have a complete outline of the contents for my article.  More than this I know what research I have to undertake in order to actually write the article.  The added bonus is that I can actually write an ebook and offer it as part of my opt-in list.

But truth be told, I am now scared. Everything that Alex has told me to do I have done and it has brought results, his system does work.

Now I am petrified, for the first time I can see myself actually making money online and it scares the hell out of me. Up until now I have been content to spend money and buy eBooks and online courses not expecting to get very far, and such has been the case. Now though, whatever I implement brings results, sometimes with hours, sometimes within a day or two.

I am just plain scared to move on to the next stage. I am sized with indecision, even though I now have results from my survey indicating products I can produce and give away for free.

I sit down in front of my computer everyday paralysed with fear, my mind numbed with indecision. I am facing success but do not know how to deal with it. I have the technical skills to produce my products, I can’t afford to outsource just yet. Or maybe I should just outsource my first product based upon my survey results.

Decisions, decisions.

I just want to wave a magic wand and have this problem taken away, (don’t we all?) but this is not going to happen. I have to deal with this and make my dreams become reality.

My biggest fear has always been the fear of failing, and I have more or less avoided failure by not setting written targets, they have always been in mind, where no one could see them. But with Alex I have actually written them down, and I have actually written down a plan of action to follow through. For once I have followed through with action and I am seeing success.

I know that when I follow through to the next stage of my plan I will see my list explode, how the hell do I deal with that? Failure is so much more comfortable, no one to support, no one to give advice to, no one to be responsible to.

But I am determined to break through this stalemate and realise financial security for my family. I need to step up and take responsibility, I need to take action.

I am therefore going to create a report on how to gather information and turn it into an article based on the initial results of my survey.

Today is Thursday and allowing for family commitments and the weekend, I will make this report available by the end of next Tuesday.

OK, that’s me stepping up, taking responsibility, making a decision and setting a deadline for all the world to see.

I brainstormed yesterday after posting my plan. This is what I have come up with, the raw unrefined starting point of my Daily Tips.

All my readers will be able to follow how I develop my blog and my products and courses from here.

Why have I put this up here? Surely I am giving away how to make money online?  Well yes and no.

There will be people who will look at this and use aspects of it, but will eventually run out of steam and give up.  These people are the ones chasing the money.  They have no staying power and it does not matter if I give the information away for free or if they pay for  it, ultimately they will not act upon what they have been given.

I am therefore not worried about this category of visitors to my site.  They enjoy chasing after the next shiny thing as opposed to providing for their families.  Harsh words indeed.

The other type of visitor will also make use of the information but will come back for more because they recognise that I am genuinely offering help on my blog.  They will leave comments and advice on how to proceed.  These are the givers in society, they give and give because they believe and know that helping others is the right and moral thing to do, and their thinking is akin to mine.

Further, these people are the people I want to get to know and share information with, because together we will help each other provide for our families.

This is the start of my internet marketing plan, from this brainstorming session I will develop a series of tips which I will turn into a series of free giveaways.  I have yet to decide on the format of the giveaways, but I am not worried about that, as the information is published the format for its final distribution will become clear.

It may well be that not all I have brainstormed will become products, it all depends on peoples feedback.  I am developing this to help others, and so the products I create will be driven by the needs of people as opposed to what I think people need.  I will respond to the most pressing needs of my readers.

The first step in all of this will be to find out what people want.  So my next step will be to setup an online survey/voting system to allow people to let me know what they would really like information on.

Business Plan – 90 Day Plan

1   Setup PPP in half a day, done
2   Setup Aweber account and list for easy cash webinar, done

4   Identify additional produce to easy cash webinar to give a way for list building
5   After much intense thought, realised need £5000/month or $7,500, so here is what I have worked out

Each subscriber to easy cash webinar brings in $97.00

$7,500/97 = 78 subscribers
$78 *12 = 936 subscribers

936 represents a conversion rate of 20%
Therefore

936 = 20%
1% = (20/100) * 936 = 187
1% = 186 subscribers

Therefore 100% = 187*100 = 18,700 subscribers

Therefore to achieve an income of £5000/month ($7,500/month) I need to build a list of 18,700, which has a conversion rate of 20%

The higher the conversion rate the greater the income.

Day 15 Revising my Plan

I wanted a realistic plan and the only way I could work out how to get a plan was through numbers and so that is what I did.

Since then I have been in doing and learning mode, posting comments on my blog, finalising my giveaway, posting comments on the forum and other member blogs.

So I have been quite busy, but always at the front of my mind was my plan is not focused enough.  This thought has been gnawing at me everyday this past month and every day I have said to myself I will rewrite the plan, just need to think about it a little bit more.

Well thinking time is over.

Here is my revised plan

Create a new category on my blog called Daily Tips, where I will place what I have learnt for the benefit of all members and the general public.  The daily tips will have to be focused, have a theme so that they make sense and so that I can turn them into a product.  I will be running several themes consecutively.  The end result will be a course with the theme of the daily tips being the chapters of the ebook.

Create a new category on my blog called Driving Traffic and place there all I have done to drive traffic to my blog and website.  I want to turn this into a course or product so I really need to provide value here.

Create a new category call Working the Plan where I will post everything on how I am implementing my plan.

Monitor comments on all categories and identify possible product creation opportunity

All these new categories are just to give structure to my blog so that it does not appear to be a mish mash of ideas and comments.

Use my traffic driving techniques to drive traffic to my easy cash webinar website.

I learnt a very important lesson from Janet Chandler while going through the forum and this is what really started me off on revising my plan.

Daily Business Plan

1. Get a decent photo of me on my blog (people relate more to you if they can see you!)
2. Post to my blog – 1 hour each day
3. Join two social media sites and enter all relevant detail, i.e., don’t just create an account – 1 hour each day
4. Post on 5 blogs each day, thereby building back links – 1 hour each day
5. Read forum and place comments as appropriate and Inquire about joint venture projects  – 1 Hour each day
6. Create an article and submit to article directories and social websites, including squidoo and YouTube 2 hours allowed

Monthly Business Plan

Collate daily tips into an ebook taking into account comments received, and offer as a free download in order to build list.

At the end of my first 90 days I will have launched 3 give away products and have my 1500 subscribers

My target list is still 18,700 subscribers.  My monthly target is to build a list of 500 new subscribers each month and every by using the techniques I have learnt from the course.

I launched my blog on May 11th 2010 with the post “A New Beginning”.

30 Days    June 11th 2010
60 Day        July 11th 2010
90 Days    August 11th 2010

I have 16 days before the end of my first 30 days.  I still have zero subscribers, but my Alexa rating has jumped from 7,500,000 on May11th to 2,006,600 today May 26th 2010

I now have a much more focused plan, and more importantly for me, I have a clear idea of how I am going to create free give away products that I can also turn into actual ebooks and or courses.

Now it is simply a case of working the plan.  With a clear focused daily set of tasks for me to carry out I am more likely to succeed now than ever before.

Alex has provided more than enough information to build a successful business online.

The rest is up to me.

So what’s the answer?

Well it really depends on your personality. Pick the wrong way to make money online and you will give up within a week if not within a day.

A Google search will reveal how you can make money online. The methods thrown up include

5. Information Products
6. Forex Trading
7. Webhosting
8. Webpage design
9. Online training
10. Weight loss programmes

Some methods require more technical skills than others, all methods have elements which can outsourced for a fee.

The answer to your question of how to make money online is actually simple at the end of the day. It is not about how to make money online but how to market online.

You see unless you can market yourself or your product no one will ever visit your website to buy whatever it is you are selling. As my mentor Alex Jefferys says people love to buy, they don’t like to be sold.

So how do you learn to market yourself or your product?

Unfortunately some of you are not going to like the answer to this question, because it involves hard work. You see you can’t just start up a business and make money without the proper training or apprenticeship.

How many of you have walked into a job with no qualification that paid you over $50,000 annually? Hmm I can’t see many hands. There is no such thing as an overnight success without hard work.

So where do you get the training to learn how to make money online? This is a little more straightforward. I mentioned my mentor Alex Jefferys. He is a great teacher of the online marketing method. What he teaches works, period.

So what does Alex Jefferys teach?

Alex teaches you to market yourself. Once you have learnt how to market yourself you can apply what he teaches to all niches and products. Alex has designed a course titled Easy Cash Webinar which takes you step by step through marketing. This is free training which lasts just under an hour. It is enough for you to decide whether his training is worth pursuing or dumping in the bin.

So the question is not how to make money online, but rather how to market online. Think about this for a moment, why are there adverts on TV, the radio, billboards? These are marketing techniques to convince you that you must have the very latest mobile phone, LED TV, Car and so on.

So if you are going to sell on the internet you first need to learn how to market on the internet. Only then will you be able to earn an income from the millions of customer who shop online.

Think about this, Google, essentially an advertising company has made $1.96 Billion in profits for the first quarter of 2010, and they only sell advertising space! They know how to market, isn’t about time that you learnt how to market yourself?
