There are products for every type of ethnic hair - long and loose curls, tight curls, dry hair, brittle hair, natural afros, dreads, relaxed hair, and the list goes on. I began to sketch at the age of four using pencils and then colored pencils and graduated to paints--watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Painting is not something I can handle well right now but am trusting that I will once again take up pigments and tools. Seeing makeup displays whips me into a frenzy, makes my heart pound, and foam at the mouth. I feel so sorry for men, as the poor things don't get to <em>"play"</em> as we do. I would make a terrible man.</p> <p>In first grade, I was using my crayons to draw women. I don't imitate the work of others but merely create what I see in life and in my head. So the ladies I drew in art class at age six were very different from the other children's renderings--they had shadows where their busts would be and weren't stick figures. I recall drawing one woman in a vivid red sweater, bosom and all, and being the object of wrath from our nun. She bellowed, <em>"Gigi Marie Sommers! What is wrong with you? Do you want to go to hell for this sinful work? I thought you were a good girl. Hurry up and try to erase those bumps before the priest comes. And red, of all colors! I have shared with you my technique on the perfect blow dry and what products to use. But, there's one product that you absolutely must have for your hair whether it's curly or straight.</p> <p>It's usually a thick, clear gel that you can use on wet or dry hair. For curly hair, it really helps to form your curls if you use it on your wet hair. If you use it when your hair is dry, it gives your curls a smooth, silky look, and tames the frizz. For straight hair, when you apply it wet it helps with your blow dry to tame the frizz while it dries. Once your hair is dry, you take a drop of it, warm it up in your hands and smooth out the fly-aways. Have you figured it out yet? It's a finishing gel! I especially like the seemingly bizarre items for my health. I am constantly checking out alternative products. I noticed the <a href="http://www.himalayaninstitute.org/Netipot/NetiPotGateway.aspx">Neti Pot</a> in my local Whole Foods and thought, <em>"What is that thing? It looks like a white version of Aladdin's Magic Lamp?" </em> Then I studied closer. <em>"You put it in where?" -- <strong>"SERIOUSLY? NO WAY! PASS!"</strong></em> </p> <p> I didn't take it with me to the check-out counter. When I have cold and allergies, I notice that when I go surfing my sinuses always get cleared. I thought it had something to do with the salt water getting in my nose and washing it out.
