Okay, there are some changes taking place here at These Small Hours. First thing is, it is now Annie Hurley Photography. Although I LOVE my former name because it puts the lyrics of Rob Thomas' "Little Wonders" song in my head which makes me think about how little time we have and how hard it is to hold on to, it seems easier for everyone to remember, search, share, etc. when it is simplified to Annie Hurley Photography. And so that it will be.

So, along with that comes all new branding, new logo, new colors, new watermarks, new packaging...the works! It feels refreshing and cheerful to me, and I'm so happy with it! I hope you all like it too :)!

I've also decided to go ahead and finally purchase my own web domain so that I can have more freedom with things than Blogger has available. So, after a long time of sitting, tweaking, uploading, changing, going back to photoshop and starting all over, and basically feeling like a 2 year old learning how to fix a space rocket, it is finally what I consider "done enough to share." I still have some things I'm planning on changing, old posts to upload, etc., but go ahead and check it out, get comfortable over there, oooo and don't forget about the May special that is going on right now too!

New Places on the North Side! - My Family

After realizing I don't have a ton of great locations in mind on the north side of the Springs, and knowing that I am very frequently meeting up with families from Denver and further north, I thought it's about time I set out to see if I could find some meeting places between here and there. So, the fam and I (including our new spoiled pup) headed out and did exactly that! Out of the five locations we stopped at, three ended up being perfect, and the other two were still a lot of fun as well! Here are some snippets from here and there.

And do note that the sun was scorching down something fierce and aside from everyone looking like a hot mess, you can actually see them progressively getting filthier as the day goes on :).

Lola found a new pet, "Orangie." I know, she may possibly be color blind, but nevertheless, we lost and found that little guy at least 20 times.

Whatever do we do with a field of cattails? It didn't take long to figure it out! Right off the bat Ruby was pretending they were corn dogs...nice!

Well for heaven's sake, it took long enough, but the warm weather is FINALLY here! I know I'm celebrating and since I'm in a MUCH better mood now, I thought I'd give everyone something to celebrate too... $20 off any session booked during the month of May!! Little Miss Evelyn! - Newborn

This is Evelyn and she is one a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. baby girl! But don't be fooled by her sweet, flawless face... she can put up quite a fight if she feels like it :)! And this particular morning, she felt like it. She wanted to be snuggled up with her mom, nursing the day away. And who can argue with that? It's a fair enough request for heaven's sake! But darn it anyways, we forged ahead with pictures all the same. The harder we tried to get her to sleep, the more awake she became. She had us all cracking up as she'd go from long blinks to bright eyes in seconds as if to say "whoa guys, I'm sorry I almost fell asleep but I'm up now and I feel totally energized from that long blink, so I'm good."

Finally, she agreed to all of our bugging and nodded off as I quickly grabbed all the shots I could. Oh Evie, I just loved spending my morning with you and your sweet, patient, and hilarious parents! And I say, keep your spunk... it's totally working for you girl!

Dad was swinging her back and forth hoping to lull her to sleep and I thought it made for a pretty darn cute picture!

I just love her sweetness in this last set up... and her skin is seriously like a porcelain doll!

Her little hands pulling on her perfect little cheeks is just my favorite thing... I couldn't just post one :)!

Harper Grace! - Newborn

Meet sweet Harper Grace! When I saw her in my studio she was just shy of five pounds, and sleepy as all get out... I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! Seriously, she was an absolute angel baby and the perfect combination of her sleepiness and tiny-ness made for one of my all time favorite mornings ever, as a photographer or otherwise! I just feel so lucky to have the privilege of getting in on this sacred time! Her parents are hilarious and so full of personality themselves that I'm sure it won't be long before Miss Harper wakes up and starts cracking jokes herself, and they'll wonder how she was ever so "mellow." I am so happy for everyone who gets to get in on the sweetness and fun of this little blessing and I will be looking forward to seeing her again myself!

Oh those teeny tiny little details! She also has the shiniest, perfect lips.

Her daddy's in the Army so she had to show some Army love!

They've been calling her "Baby Bear" for a long time now, so these next one's were very necessary!

The Other Two! - My Family

It seems like it's been a while since Gracie and Ruby have shown their faces on here, and there's a reason for it... they are SO OVER my camera in their faces. I'm afraid we've reached the point of no return. Will I have pictures of them participating in a school performance, going to prom, graduating from high school, etc.? Who knows. All I'm sure of is that I will continue snapping away whether they're looking at me or running away from me. So, I guess I'll just take whatever I get :).

Over spring break we FINALLY went to check out the Broadmoor. I think the last time I was there, I was their age. It really is amazing over there, but instead of soaking it all in for what it is, the girls left there feeling sorry for themselves that WE weren't staying there like "everyone else." Boo! Well, here's just a few of my big girls, acting just like they always do!

This is how Gracie always sits- all formal and proper, and she actually let me capture it :).

A Very Happy Birthday Boy! - Children

This is Jackson... he just turned one and is pretty pumped about it! From the minute his Mom set him down, he was ready to go go go! He wanted to check everything out and really get down to the nitty gritty of what's fun and what's not. But as busy as he was, he was equally as happy about it! So, of course, I had no complaints! And as if his big open mouthed smile wasn't enough, his dimples were popping too! I'm still trying to figure out if he gets them from Mom or Dad since they both have such cute dimples... I'm pretty sure they're Dad's ;). Well, happy birthday Jackson! I'm very proud of you!

The tie and the nerd glasses? You couldn't have nailed it better buddy!

This shot is ALWAYS my favorite one! Who doesn't love sweet cheeks and beautiful eyelashes?

He wasn't too busy to have some fun with Mom and Dad!

Yeah, he's such a big boy now, but I LOVE how sucking on a bottle (or even a sippy cup at age 4) still makes them look like sweet little babies! Phew!

Little Flower Head! - My Family

Is this headband obnoxiously big, oh you bet, but am I one who happens to think the bigger, the better when it comes to accessories for little girls, most definitely! I found it at Target... I made her try it on on the spot, and realized I would be looking for a dress to match pretty much instantly. Oh, I do love things like this! And Lola, why are you not even listening to me when I keep telling you to stop growing up?

Jamie and Chad! - Couples

So it was just last month, on Valentine's day... despite the fact that Jamie was sick with bronchitis (and therefore not expecting a proposal ;)), Chad popped the question, Jamie said "yes" and it's onward with wedding plans now! These guys are absolutely adorable, and perfect for each other too! They are both so sweet, kind, easy going, fun, and it just seems right! You'll see what I mean in the photos below. I really didn't even do anything but follow them around and let their easy, natural love for each other unfold, and push a few buttons on my camera... THAT'S IT! It really was so much fun, and I feel so lucky to have gotten in on this happy time in their lives. Congrats again guys! I wish you the best!

Zeke 6 Months! - Baby

This little guys just makes me so very happy! He has been the absolute best boy at every session! He is just flawless... perfect skin, perfect lips, big dark eyes, and the happiest personality with the best little open mouthed smiles. I can't ever stop telling his parents how lucky they are every time I see them, and how happy I am for them :).

As mentioned in his previous blog posts, his parents are big story book fans and therefore, have requested a "book shot" at every session. I think it is such a fun idea, and he has nailed every idea we've thrown out at him. Great job Zekie! I'm already looking forward to seeing you in June!

Eli 9 Months! - Baby

Eli is definitely one of the sweetest boys I have ever been around. I love when another three months go by and I get to see his little handsome face again! He was especially happy this particular morning, and I was loving it! His parents are so darn cute and sweet themselves, and the three of them...well, they got a good thing going on for sure!

This bright colored blanket was a gift given to Eli's dad from his Oma...very cool!

Meet Zoe! - Newborn

This is Zoe, and she was one of the best little newborns I've seen in a while! I was SO glad for it (considering the moments before I got there I was pulled over for going 47 in a 25mph SCHOOL ZONE for heaven's sake- yeah, I'll be heading back up to Thornton for a visit to court next month- I'm still feeling sorry for myself over it).

Okay, pity party over, back to this little cupcake! Her parents are just the sweetest and I loved my day of hanging out with them and flopping little Zoe this way and that as she happily obliged. I caught a few shots right when I got there with her eyes bright as can be, and then once she crashed, she stayed that way the rest of the session. I couldn't have loved it more! I'm so happy for them and SO happy for myself that I get to see Miss Zoe every three months! YES!

I love, and I mean LOVE the squishiness of newborns!

Just an angel baby!

I've been so excited to bust out this little hat and leggings combo, and Zoe and her perfectly matched lips helped make it just as I imagined!

She went from busting out this little smile, to the pouty lips below in a second...it was the cutest thing!

We worked really hard for this last one, but her parents collect Chinese antiques, and how cute is she in this little antique tub?

Josh and Kira...Getting So Big! - Baby, Family

I just cannot get over how much these two have grown and changed since I saw them last time. Oh my gosh, it's insane! But one thing that hasn't changed a bit is that they are just as cute as ever, and I just love to be around them! I got to visit them at their home in Larkspur, which is such a beautiful place to be. I also got to meet their other Grandpa, and grab some photos with him in them too!

When I first got there, the babes were enjoying a quick nap, so I decided to grab some sleepy detail shots while I had the chance.

Miss Kira just got her ears pierced the day before, and they add a perfect little sparkle to her already beautiful self!

Power nap was over, and it was time to head outside!

"Ollie" - My Family

Okay, here's the story...when Lola was born 4 years ago, Gracie and Ruby (who were 4 at that time) begged and begged for a puppy. I told them "girls, are you crazy, we have a new baby to play with, sheeesh...maybe when SHE'S 4 we'll get a puppy." Well, they took that to the bank and for the last 4 months (since Lola's been 4), they've been eyeing every furry, four legged animal hoping that we'd say "yes!" So, apparently all the stars aligned at just the right time, because we met up with little Oliver through The Lucky Dog Rescue and the rest is history! Which, by the way, I would highly recommend checking out The Lucky Dog Rescue if you are interested in adopting a pup. They have everything set up to benefit both you and the dog so that you have every advantage when adopting through them (like foster families that help with potty training, crate training, etc. while the pups are waiting to be adopted, free puppy training classes, up to date shots, neutering/spaying, etc., plus a discount for life on their doggie daycare and boarding services). It's AMAZING really!

So, here's little Ollie... He really is such a good boy, and the girls and him are so in love it's seriously just ridiculous!

One of his eyes is half brown, half blue!

He has wirey terrier hair, especially on his paws :).

Happy Birthday Phillip! - Children

This little guy is WAAAAAY too cute! I fell in love with him right off the bat! From his serious face, to his big smile, to his "I love my tongue" face... you really can't go wrong! He just celebrated his 1st birthday about a week ago, and I'm so glad he came to visit me for his 1 year photos! It was so much fun! Happy birthday again Phillip! You did so so great!

Uh yeah, he pulled off the "tie with jeans" look perfectly!

His mom found this little outfit, and it was adorable on him! The striped baby legs were the best (especially on his legs).

Really you just couldn't be cuter!

Then it was cake smashing time. He did smash the cake by accidentally falling on it a time or two, but that's about it!

He liked being fed, or feeding it to someone else... it became a family cake smash and I loved it!

Lana is 1! - Children

I have LOVED taking pictures of this little girl this past year! There is just no one like her! She is so cute, and so funny, and always, always herself! I've tried talking her into some things at certain sessions over the years, and each time have come away realizing... she knows better than I do. I'm just gonna miss her SO much, and her sweet parents too! Happy birthday Lana, I just love you :)!

Introducing Jackson Levi! - Newborn

Well, little Jackson Levi is here, and super duper cute! He was a very good sport, and once he got his tummy full (a couple different times), he was happy to roll with it. I think he grew a half a pound while he was here! Eating and growing is his business, and he is great at it! His big brother Zeke did so good too, and I'm proud of them both! Thanks for sharing your boys with me! I loved it!

Ah yes, the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens... she's mine now! Fun for me, fun for you! I hope everyone likes the little details in life as much as I do, because it's about to get macro loco 'round here! And I've obviously been having a blast with it, but I'm the most excited to have it when capturing the tiniest of details for some babies coming up- sweet!

How cool is an eye, really?

Lola's Polly Pocket friends were having a party... looked like a wedding, but I wasn't sure ;).

This is maybe my favorite thing ever. I LOVE this quote from Mother Teresa's "Final Analysis" and couldn't believe there was someone on Etsy that could actually fit it on a cuff bracelet! It's a perfect way to keep the world in perspective... and has also had the power to make me feel like crap at the end of any given day too, darn it!

This is my other favorite thing right now! It's my new phone case that I made with some of our beach pictures on Shutterfly. I've showed it to everyone I know, and some random people who were just minding their own business as well. Maybe you should make one, then you could be cool like me (shoot, see I've already got something to be disappointing on my tally of keeping it between me and God. I told you, it'll get you in the end).

I love the freckles... Ruby has the most across her face, but Gracie has the BEST one on her top lip!

Another sweet maternity session on a beautiful Colorado afternoon... I am LOVING this! These guys were so fun, and we really did have a great time walking and talking and snapping some photos every now and then too! I am so happy they made the trip down here so I could meet them, and hang out with them for a while! It was a treat for sure! Their little girl will be here before we know it, and I am so excited to see them ALL then!

Sweet Eliana! - Newborn

When Eliana's mom emailed me about doing her pictures, she titled the subject "newborn (sort of)." You see, this perfect little bright-eyed girl with the chubby cheeks who now weighs 8 pounds is already almost 5 months old. She was born at 26 and a half weeks, and is just a living miracle! Her big sister and brothers are simply over the moon for her, which you will see further illustrated below. Well, they all are really and it's easy to see why. What an angel baby! Thanks for sharing her, and the rest of your adorable kiddos with me, I loved it :)!

Lola - My Family

After getting a few new fun things in the mail, I decided it was about time I made my Lola girl model for me again. She obliged for about 30 seconds (and was nervous about the "Little Bill" episode she was missing out on) but it was long enough to get a few. I've also been working on creating some new enhancements in Photoshop, and am super excited about this hazy matte look. I'll definitely be using it more and more, so hope you all like it too :).

I'm pretty sure these guys would agree with me when I say, we had so much fun taking these maternity pictures! I loved watching them interact and joke around with each other. They were cracking me up, and my job of taking their maternity pictures didn't feel like a job at all. They also came more than prepared with lots of fun elements to throw into the creative pot, and it was GREAT! Now, it's pretty obvious that these two are "a tad" bit excited to meet their sweet little girl, Harper Grace! Oh, I just love her name! I myself am so excited for them, and have no doubt in my mind that their little Harper is going to be one lucky baby girl!

I couldn't believe Harper's little shoes matched her mama's shirt perfectly (not that she planned it that way)!

Then, we headed into town :)!

I love his professionally done chalkboard masterpiece!

The sidewalk was decked out with sidewalk chalk flowers... only in Manitou!

Happy 45th Anniversary! - Couples, Family

You might remember little Brody, he is one of my all time favorite little boys ever! Well, his grandparents just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in December, and what a great time to get some pictures of the two of them, and their adorable grandkids too! It's easy to see that there is so much love (and fun) between these guys, and I enjoyed them all so much!

They heard an airplane, and of course, had to find it!

Brody has a "little" love thing going on with Grandpa!

There may have been an accidental blow to the head right before this next one :)!

Gettin' Hitched! - Couples

Meet Shanda and Tyson. They are getting married this summer and are gorgeous, ridiculously gorgeous... as well as funny, happy, sweet, and super fun! And if that's not enough, oh. my. gosh. they brought their little golden retriever pup, Sherman, along too. I was seriously on cuteness overload the entire time to the point where it was almost painful! I don't even need to ruin it with more words, just look at these guys and see for yourself!

Brynlee is 1! - Children

This was so much fun! Yeah, maybe I showed up at the wrong house, and rang the doorbell waiting, until thank God sweet Christy signaled me over to their house, the right house, right across the street. But once we worked that out, we were good to go :)! I just love Brynlee and could hang out with her all day! Her mom was all set with the cutest matching outfit and even balloons to match. Very nicely done! I just couldn't stop snapping away. Brynlee is such a fiery little peanut that is always trying to conquer the next thing and I love it. She's moving all the time, but she's a sweet, happy little love bug too. Happy birthday Brynlee girl!

She started sucking on her toes, and it got real funny real fast!

I always think she looks just like her daddy, but this next one makes me question my own opinion.
