Night Market on the Kingston Rondout is a new event with Parisian-style antique market, free tastings, live music, crafts, a photo booth, and even a tarot reading. Night Market takes place on 3rd Fridays of the month. I went for a leisurely stroll towards the end of Broadway. (The festivities are between McEntee and the Waterfront). It was fun meeting Nancy of Kingston Happenings, the folks at Milne At home Antiques, Karmabee, The Green Space, and seeing Savona's and Mole Mole packed with people. I didn't dine out that night though. I just wanted to check out the scene for Hudson Valley Good Stuff. I hope to make a date night out of one of the Night Market nights of 2013 though.

What a delicious night I had covering the 1st Annual Taste of Woodstock for HVGS. I picked up my wristband at the Woodstock Film Festival office, had a few sips of Woodstock Wine, and began eating my way through Woodstock. At each restaurant stop, my ballot was stamped, and at the end of the night I voted for my favorite appetizer, entree, and dessert. All the dishes were yummy, but for me the stand-outs were the offerings from New World Home Cooking, Bread Alone, Red Onion, Cucina, Joshua's, and Little Apple. The pork slider at Landau's Grill was really good too, but by the time I got there I had kind of reach my limit. You really do get a lot of food to eat when you sample food from 15. restaurants! Everything was good though, and yes, I did taste everything!

It was a fun community fundraiser for the Woodstock Film Festival, and while the crowds can't compare to the Taste of Rhinebeck, I think with more promotion, and maybe even more restaurants, the event will draw more crowds in years to come. There were a few dissapointed passerbys who wanted to try out the food, but didn't realize it was part of a fundraiser and tickets were $80 each. New Store alert: Living Eden in Red Hook has Hudson Valley gifts, fair trade items & gluten-free market!

I checked out a brand new store in Red Hook, NY called Living Eden recently. The co-owners Bobbi Jo Forte and Bonnie Schweppe were both there, and their enthusiasm for the fair trade products, and made in the USA items, gourmet goodies they sell is contagious. (Watch out or you may end up buying a lot of cute stuff you didn't plan on buying!).

There are organic cotton shirts with foreign names and their meaning on them, gluten-free play-dough in their small kid's section. Tucked away in a side room is a gluten-free market, with shelves of super healthy gourmet gluten-free items. This beautiful pendant with a local map got a great buzz on the Hudson Valley Good Stuff page. It's a fun store for browsing and gift shopping.
