How to fix missing iCloud folders in Outlook for Mac

If you have created folders in iCloud, but Outlook for Mac isn't showing them -- I have the solution. If you're like me, you added your iCloud account, but only saw one folder called "Notes," which just happens to be a folder you didn't create and doesn't even show in the left sidebar when you log into iCloud.com.

So, without further ado, I give you the solution. The downside is that it's requires a little work, but not anything complicated or too time consuming -- unless you have a lot of folders in iCloud.

The solution is as follows:

In Outlook, right-click in the left sidebar on the account name for your iCloud account
Select "New Folder"
Name each new folder you create (I recommend something slightly different than the ones you have already in iCloud)
Login to iCloud.com (this link opens in a new window)
Select each of your old folders (the ones you couldn't see in Outlook) individually
Select all (cmd/ctrl+a) for all the emails in each folder
Move emails from each of those folders to the new folders you created in Outlook
Deleted each of the older folders
Go back to Outlook for Mac
Right click on account in left column again and "Refresh Folder List"
Right click on each folder and select "Rename Folder"

Voilà! Synced folders that show in Outlook for Mac.

When writing something for the web, don't type it directly in your browser. Use a text editor on your computer first, save it, then copy and paste into the browser/site text editor when finished. You may save yourself many headaches in the future due to what often happens with browsers: getting logged out or having browser crashes.

It's simply amazing to be in this process I'm in of collecting files for my portfolio. It's the first time I've done this digitally. I've had my standard one for interviews forever, but I'm just now getting to my digital version and I have to say I'm simply shocked at how much work I've done over the past 10 years at Catalyst. I've been working on this for days now and I only hope I can finish up tomorrow, but It's not looking very likely. We'll see.

It appears I'm making progress finally on this cms thing. I'm gradually getting an understanding of it all and how it all fits together. I've made more progress using textpattern than any other source I've tested, so I think that's the one I'm gonna stick with for now.

My dennishughett.com was launched two weeks ago and I've been seeking a cms to run the site and blog through. I've had limited time to search, but I'm gradually determining which one is best for me. Tried Wordpress and I'm not sure it's the right solution for me. I'm now taking a closer look at Joomla. We'll see how that progresses. I'll keep you posted.
