I think the post does actually answer the question, it’s just that the answer requires an understanding of optics and biology.

The answer, if I am reading it correctly, is that on top of the scattering effects on the light wavelengths, you also have to account for the relative sensitivity of the retinal cone pigments to different wavelengths of light and overlaying this is the “perception” of colour. The example used is that we don’t actually detect “yellow” per se, but the response of our brain to the stimulus on our photoreceptors allows us to “perceive” yellow (or so the rough idea goes). Therefore, in the same way, a mixture of violet and blue light, given, scattering, relative intensities from the sun and absorbtion in the atmosphere leads to the perception that the mixture of shorter wavelength light our eyes detects coming from the sky on a bright clear day is “percieved” as being blue.
This is, admittedly a much “messier” picture than physicists are usually happy with, but there is a lot of stuff on the internet from the likes of astronomers etc. who do beautiful work on response to intensity and colour of light which is relevant to the topic above.

I beg your pardon everyone, but the post does in fact answer the question. It clearly states that the sky appears blue because of the way the scattered light triggers cones in our eyes. Due to the scattering, we get exposed to the high energy end of the spectrum the most, but it’s not just blue and violet that enter our eyes. The unique mix of all the other colors that aren’t scattered as much but are still present are interpreted by our brains as pure blue, much in the way that pure red and pure green get interpreted as pure yellow.

i just want to know why the sky is blue not violet.violets wavelength is smaller than blue.so it should be much more scattered than blue.so the sky should be looked violet.not blue.pls help me to understand it..

This is obviously a hoax…. as you can tell all these pics have been altered from other pics taken off the internet. Such as Uma Therman’s pic is from a scene she prob did for Kill Bill, and Hugh Jackman’s pic is from a scene X-men, don’t really see him being picked to play Tygra, the roles are too similar characteristic wise. Also Al Pacino’s pic was definitly used from the Scar Face, he looks way too young there. I really hope that if they were to make a Thundercats movie that they would be way more creative costume wise and i’m sure there would be alot of CG added affects before it’s all done and said!

However with that being said I do believe whoever did make this picture was very clever, very orignal Idea! Great use of Imagination@

I grew up watching Thundercats. I’m a huge fan. When the Fantastic Four, X-men and all the Super Hero movies started coming out, I started wondering when Thunder Cats was coming out? I always said if they ever make the movie Duncan had to play Pantoro….And there he is as pantoro. Loved it. The cast is perfect except the person playing the main character Lionel….He doesn’t fit. He doesn’t look Big enough. You guys need to find a BIG Muscular (Like Duncan’s Built), white guy for this role. Kinda like the guy who played in Thor. (But Bigger) That look. This will make or break this film. It’s gotta be perfect or it will flop. Out of curiosity who’s playing wiley Kit & wiley Kat?

She could just buy Windows 7 for a little over a hundred bucks. (or just steal XP but she doesn’t seen computer savvy enough) I have a dual boot with Ubuntu but I rarely use it except for diagnostics. Way too much drama by everyone
