<snippet>“We’re coming up on a day where all of us can at least celebrate and come together .... And you can at least look back and say, Hey, could have been Kamala Harris.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke with pollster Rich Baris on Thursday, where the two spoke about the upcoming Freedom 250 celebrations, including the spectacle of the UFC 250 event, and how bad this whole thing would be if Kamala Harris were president.

Posobiec opened by pointing to what he described as informal feedback from working- and middle-class Americans.

“I just know from my anecdotal poll, I don't do the big screens of polls like you guys do, but I do know the working class people, the middle class people that I know, the friends, folks home in the Rust Belt, they're all talking about UFC,” he said. “They all think it's really cool. Do they think the Iran war is great? No. Do they want to see more deportations? Yes, but they love the UFC fight.”

He added that mainstream media was missing the cultural signal. “I think a lot of the mainstream media is actually missing out on this. They don't quite understand it, do they?”

Baris agreed, saying public sentiment in recent years had been defined by frustration and fatigue. “No, they don't. And that's kind of a shocker, isn't it? I mean, even leading up until the '24 election, the country was very, very depressed, right?”

He continued by describing what he sees as a national appetite for competitive, emotionally charged cultural moments. “Americans, I was listening to the segment before, and this is a good idea. Americans like a scrap. They like to scrap. You know, they love an underdog story. It's the story of America.”

Baris also tied that sentiment to broader national events and political branding, referencing upcoming America 250 celebrations and past campaign strategy discussions.

"The country just needs to unplug, it needs a bit of a win," he said. “We have to celebrate this Jack. It's a big deal. And despite what you may be, there's always something people can find out there to complain about when you live on social media.”

Baris concluded by framing the political moment as one of national comparison and messaging strategy heading into the anniversary year. “At the end, we're in a couple of weeks here, we're coming up on a day where all of us can at least celebrate and come together. It's a big deal. It's a big anniversary. And you can at least look back and say, Hey, could have been Kamala Harris.”
<snippet>“The Common Travel Area has always been a weakness because we are relying on the Irish to check documents properly when they arrive in Northern Ireland and send them back if they are not in order.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

A Sudanese man charged in connection with the attempted beheading in Belfast is reported to have entered the United Kingdom through what security sources describe as a “backdoor” migration route involving Ireland and the Common Travel Area, according to reporting on cross-border migration patterns. The suspect, 30-year-old Hadi Alodid, is also a former policeman and comes from a well-known family in Sudan.

The case is revealing the flaws of how migrants abuse the system to move between continental Europe, Ireland and the UK without routine border checks within the Common Travel Area (CTA), a long-established arrangement covering the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

“The Common Travel Area has always been a weakness because we are relying on the Irish to check documents properly when they arrive in Northern Ireland and send them back if they are not in order,” said a Border Force insider to the Telegraph.

Alodid in the Belfast case is believed to have travelled from Sudan to Paris, and later from Paris to Dublin, before making his way to Northern Ireland in February 2023, where he claimed asylum shortly after arrival. Police officials have said he was later granted leave to remain in the UK in September 2023. According to the Telegraph, he is part of a prominent family in Sudan and is also a former police officer in the country.

Azheri Omer, a man who said he was friends with Alodid, told the outlet that after the suspect joined the Sudan police force in 2022, he only stayed on the force for a few months.

It is not known exactly how he travelled between France and Ireland, though aviation routes is one possibility discussed in reporting. Authorities have not confirmed whether he held valid documentation or claimed asylum in Ireland prior to entering Northern Ireland.

The CTA allows British and Irish citizens to move freely without visa checks, but migrants can move within the zone once inside it, with enforcement largely dependent on intelligence-led checks or spot inspections.

Albanian gangs have been accused of charging thousands of pounds to move migrants into Britain via Ireland using fraudulent identity documents, including fake EU IDs used to board flights.

“The Common Travel Area has always been a weakness because we are relying on the Irish to check documents properly when they arrive in Northern Ireland and send them back if they are not in order,” a Border Force insider said.

Officials estimate a portion of asylum seekers enter the UK via irregular or less tracked routes, but exact figures remains unclear. Migration researchers have previously shown a small percentage fall outside recorded categories such as visa arrivals or small boat crossings.

Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said: “Because of the CTA, our border control relies on the Republic of Ireland controlling their border. A weakness in the Irish border is therefore also a weakness in the UK border. So more clearly needs to be done to strengthen our common external border and end illegal migration.”

A Home Office spokesman told the Telegraph: “The UK and Ireland are working closely together to improve the security of the Common Travel Area, while ensuring it remains open to legitimate travellers.”
<custom_fields>

A teenage UK girl was groomed and gang raped by four Afghan nationals, including a 16-year-old boy, after she was lured to a home and given vodka.

According to a report by The Sun, the teen girl was Christmas shopping with a friend when they began speaking to a 21-year-old named Mehrab Safir, whom they had not known prior. He asked that the victim add him on Snapchat, then requested nude photographs on November 28.

Days later, Safi allegedly arranged for a taxi to take the victim home from her Somerset home to Bristol. She was dropped off at an area where Safi was waiting with another suspect, before they got into a taxi and took the girl to a house.

The victim was then given cigarettes and vodka before she was allegedly raped by Safi and the three other suspects.

“The prosecution say that they sexually abused a young girl who Mr Safi had met and began grooming only days before the rapes took place,” said prosecutor Ed Hetherington.

“On November 30 last year, Mr Safi and Mr Habibkheil arranged for her to be brought by taxi to meet them in Bristol in the early hours of a Sunday morning,” he said. “Once she arrived, she was taken to a home in St Werburghs and she was very quickly expected to have sex with Mr Safi.”

“She didn’t want to, not yet, but it happened anyway,” he added.

The court found that after she was allegedly raped by Safi, the others “took it in turns to get her alone in a bedroom or in a bed and to have sex with her against her wishes.” She was “plied with alcohol and cigarettes to secure her compliance.”

The alleged attacks reportedly ended when the victim’s mother contacted the police.

The three adult suspects reportedly fled the UK in December just days after the attack, according to the Telegraph. They fled to France, where they were eventually caught.
<snippet>The little girl, who is now nearly eight, is in a wheelchair, is non-verbal, and can only answer yes or no questions through the use of blinking.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

The trial of Riad Bouchaker began on Wednesday in a Dublin court, with the mother of one of the stabbing victims recounting how her young daughter’s life was changed in the November 2023 stabbing attack, for which the Algerian national has been charged.

The five-year-old girl had been stabbed near a daycare, or crèche, in Dublin’s Parnell Square on November 23, 2023, along with two other young children. The jury was told that 52-year-old Bouchaker had intended to kill the three children when he allegedly stabbed them, targeting their heads, necks, upper bodies, and chests.

When asked by the prosecuting counsel how her daughter is now, she said the little girl, who is now nearly eight, is in a wheelchair, is non-verbal, and can only answer yes or no questions through the use of blinking, per RTE. She said her daughter had just turned five at the time of the attacks.

She said she would normally drop her daughter off at daycare in the morning and would pick her up from school on her way home from work in the city center. The daycare workers would drop her off and collect her from school. The mother told the court that she almost didn’t go into work that day, saying that she had been feeling unwell.

She described receiving a phone call from the daycare’s owner at 1:45 pm, saying the owner was crying and told her "oh my god, oh my god," before saying her daughter had been stabbed.

Her daughter was taken to Temple Street hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery on her heart. She suffered blood loss and the mother told the court her daughter had gone without oxygen for 40 minutes, leading to severe brain damage, particularly affecting her motor skills. She said her daughter also suffers from dystonia following the attack.

Prosecuting counsel Karl Finnegan told the jury that Bouchaker was responsible for the attacks, and that he intended to kill the children. Bouchaker has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder of the three children, as well as assaulting and causing serious harm to a daycare worker, assaulting two other children and a passerby who intervened, and possession of a knife.

Leading up to the stabbings, the children were being brought to an after school program by daycare staff, the prosecution said, adding that Bouchaker approached the group and began stabbing. Daycare worker Leanne Flynn intervened and was stabbed.

Bouchaker claimed to gardai that he had been upset over receiving a letter stating his application for social welfare had been refused and that he was not in the right state of mind. He claimed that he had done something bad, but did not mean to kill or harm the children. Finnegan said that Bouchaker has been found fit to stand trial and that there was no suggestion he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time of the attack.

In the wake of the November 2023 attack, the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) released a piece stating that the attack "is the umpteenth warning that disinformation can have appalling consequences in real life. A shameful script that so many times in the past brought tragedy in Europe was played out again in Dublin a few nights ago: a dramatic news story circulates, disinformation and racism jump on it spreading baseless accusations against an entire minority group, hungry mobs take to the streets and the violence begins."

Protests and riots broke out following the attack, and MMA fighter Conor McGregor spoke out against the attack, saying at the time, "there is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place."
<snippet>“We’ll bomb the sh*t out of them tomorrow,” Trump warned.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

President Donald Trump revealed Wednesday that senior Iranian officials directly contacted him seeking an end to ongoing US military strikes, as Washington signaled additional attacks could be imminent if Tehran refuses to finalize a nuclear agreement.

According to Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump disclosed the communication after a new round of US operations targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The president described the latest American strikes as "vicious" and "violent," telling Fox News that the operation involved 49 Tomahawk missiles alongside fighter aircraft targeting radar installations and air defense systems. The strikes reportedly hit locations roughly 40 miles outside Tehran as well as positions along Iran's southwestern coastline on the Persian Gulf.

Despite the outreach from Iranian officials, Trump indicated that military pressure would continue unless Tehran accepts a deal that permanently blocks it from obtaining nuclear weapons. “We'll bomb the sh*t out of them tomorrow,” Trump warned.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Wednesday that American forces struck multiple Iranian military targets, including surveillance systems, communications infrastructure, and air defense capabilities. “U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets fired precision munitions on Iranian targets that posed a threat to U.S. forces and international commercial ships transiting regional waters,” CENTCOM said. The command characterized the attacks as defensive measures responding to what it called Iran's continued aggression. “U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready,” CENTCOM added.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth traveled to MacDill Air Force Base in Florida on Wednesday for meetings with CENTCOM leadership after visiting troops at Guantanamo Bay earlier in the day. During remarks to reporters, Hegseth signaled further military action was expected. "Central Command will be busy tonight because President [Donald J.] Trump said we will be hitting Iran hard, and we will be," Hegseth said. "Iran has a chance to make a good deal, a great deal, to codify what they said they've been willing to do — and they haven't been willing to do it."

Speaking earlier at the White House, Trump argued that negotiations with Tehran have repeatedly stalled despite months of discussions. "I've been working with Iran for a number of months, and they should sign the deal," Trump said. "It's a good deal. It doesn't give them the right to have a nuclear weapon. In fact, it totally prohibits them from ever having a nuclear weapon."

The president also referenced the downing of a US AH-64 Apache helicopter near Oman earlier this week, noting that the crew was safely recovered. He vowed additional retaliation following earlier American strikes. "We hit them hard yesterday, and we're gonna hit them again hard today," Trump said. "We'll see what happens with the deal. We were really close to a deal. But they keep tapping us along. They keep playing us for suckers."

Hegseth credited CENTCOM's ongoing "Operation Epic Fury" with increasing pressure on Iran while maintaining that the administration's preferred outcome remains a negotiated agreement. "Adm. [Brad] Cooper and the team here at Centcom have done a phenomenal job from the beginning on Epic Fury, and through this blockade, ensuring that we have a chance to reach that end state — which is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, which they say they don't want, and so since we're so close to that negotiated deal, if that's the case, they should step up and do it," Hegseth said.

The defense secretary also highlighted "Project Freedom," an operation launched in May to protect commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and deter Iranian interference. "Project Freedom — the idea of running ships through the Strait of Hormuz — it never stopped, it just went underground," Hegseth said. "And so, there's some things the public knows, and some things the public doesn't know, but ultimately, we've been protecting commercial shipping going through the Strait of Hormuz."

According to Hegseth, US protection efforts have enabled roughly 100 million barrels of oil to move safely through the strategic waterway. "The United States of America controls the Strait of Hormuz," Hegseth said. "We're able to bring oil in and out and other things with partners and have done so now for weeks and weeks in ways the Iranians don't want to acknowledge. That's a powerful reality on the ground."

He concluded with a warning that Iran faces a choice between negotiation and further military escalation. "Iran has an opportunity to make a deal," Hegseth said. "That's the point. President Trump is a dealmaker — the best in the world. He's prepared to make that deal. Iran would be wise to take it. Otherwise, they would have to deal with the types of plans that I just had a chance to see inside Central Command."
<snippet>Officers were reinforced following serious disturbances on Tuesday night, which saw multiple areas descend into violence.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

Video broadcast by Sky News showed groups of masked men moving through parts of Belfast late Wednesday as unrest continued for a second straight night across Northern Ireland. The footage comes after the attempted beheading attack in north Belfast, for which a Sudanese national was arrested.

Police used water cannons overnight as they moved to disperse crowds that had gathered again despite a heavy security presence, per the BBC. Officers were reinforced following serious disturbances on Tuesday night, which saw multiple areas descend into violence.

In County Antrim, at least 200 people assembled at a roundabout where a vehicle was set on fire and bricks were thrown towards police. Officers were also targeted in several other locations as groups formed, broke apart, and regrouped throughout the evening.

Transport services were suspended across Northern Ireland and some schools closed early on Wednesday as authorities warned of further disruption. Belfast city centre was quiet by midday, with many businesses shutting earlier than usual amid ongoing safety concerns.

The Sandyknowes roundabout, around eight miles north-west of Belfast, was among the main spots where police deployed water cannons as objects were thrown and aerial footage showed piles of bricks being gathered. In East Belfast, around 200 people gathered under a large police presence in an area already affected by unrest the previous night.

Reports from Ulster University campus in Coleraine, County Londonderry, also came in where more than 100 people assembled before dispersing following exchanges with police. In Londonderry, motorists were advised to avoid the Ardmore Road at the Church Brae junction due to fires. Around 140 people also gathered at the Stormont estate in Belfast before dispersing.

The unrest follows the arrest of Hadi Alodid, a 30-year-old originally from Sudan, who appeared in court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder after a knife attack in north Belfast on Monday. The victim, Stephen Ogilvie, is in his 40s and suffered severe injuries, including the loss of his left eye, damage to his right eye, and injuries to his neck and back.

The attack and subsequent reporting on the suspect’s background triggered protests across Northern Ireland on Tuesday, which escalated into violent disorder in several areas. During that unrest, masked groups were seen setting fire to homes, vehicles and a bus, forcing residents to flee, while petrol bombs were thrown at police in multiple locations.

27 people were made homeless after properties allegedly linked to foreign nationals were targeted. A two-month-old baby was rescued during the disturbances, according to officials. Police also warned that sharing addresses online was putting lives at risk.

Two police officers were injured in Belfast on Tuesday night, and two men have since been charged in connection with riot-related offences. Three arrests were also made after disorder spread to Glasgow. Belfast’s Lord Mayor said she received death threats, while the Stormont Executive held an emergency online meeting.

Translink suspended bus services at 5 pm and train services at 6 pm due to safety concerns, according to the BBC.

The Royal College of Nursing said staff, including internationally educated nurses, were stopped by masked groups while travelling to work, with some describing themselves as “absolutely petrified.”

Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec described the situation as "the new Troubles" and said footage of the attack on Stephen Ogilvie was "one of the most horrific things" he had ever seen. Posobiec argued that public anger over the incident reflected opposition to current immigration policies. "What's happened now in Belfast is Northern Ireland is responding that they are done with the migration policies. They are completely done with everything you're seeing," he said, per the Daily Mail.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon also commented on the unrest during an episode of War Room. "You're going to hit their tripwire. And once you hit their tripwire, these are tough hombres," Bannon said.

"These are working class people, middle class people, and they're not going to sit there and tolerate this continually, pushed by the elites in London and Dublin, who are all globalist, right?" he added.

Bannon further stated, "This is the anti-nationalist just trying to jam this down their people's throat. So this could be pretty intense and hopefully gets channeled into positive nationalism." Bannon slammed leaders' response to the unrest, saying, "But I've got to tell you, you've got to throw down at first because they don't listen until you throw down hard." On UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Bannon said, "Not one comment about the perpetrator and what these migrants are destroying."
<snippet>“This is state terrorism against our people.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec used a recent broadcast to comment on reported violent incidents in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, including the recent near-beheading of a man in Belfast by a Sudanese migrant.

“Folks, what can I say? This is state terrorism against our people. Against homes, villages, towns, communities. We talked yesterday about the near beheading in Belfast.”

“It was two nights ago now. And they defined that the man who was identified as Stephen Ogilvie is alive. He is in critical condition. He has lost one eye since it took place. And that means that his eye was cut out by a migrant there on the street. A Sudanese migrant.”

Posobiec then urged viewers not to dismiss the incidents, escalating his rhetoric about violence in public life. “Stop pretending everything is fine. Stop pretending everything is fine. They're killing white people. They're raping white daughters. They're slaughtering white sons in the street while the police handcuff them and the blood drains from their fingers.”

“There’s another story out of Bristol in the UK right now. The jury is hearing all about it. Three Afghans, they were going around a Christmas mall, shopping at Christmastime. They found a young girl, brought her home, gave her alcohol, gave her drugs, and then they took turns raping her for hours. Hours. Then they fled. This is just today. The story is today, going on in court. Nightmare fuel.”

“Now they fled the country because they knew what they did. They were later picked up in France. But that’s never going to give her her life back, her sanity back, her purity back.”

“Karmelo Anthony got 35 years, but that doesn't give Austin Metcalf's family their son back.”

Turning back to the Belfast incident, Posobiec suggested broader conflict dynamics at play. “And this guy, he just lost an eye. And he wasn't fighting in a war. He's walking down the street. Or perhaps he is fighting in a war. Perhaps there is a war that's being waged. It’s just that our enemies are using different tactics. They're using low-intensity conflict. They're targeting white people for a reason. Because they know by and large, white people do not respond. They don't fight back. Well, maybe that's changed in parts of Northern Ireland.”

He pointed to reported cooperation between historically divided communities. “Because you see in parts of Northern Ireland now, they're joining together Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods. Neighborhoods that a generation ago were firebombing each other's houses. There’s the Hatfields and the McCoys joining up saying, you know what, enough is enough.”

“We can deal with all that later because we have a bigger problem, an external problem. A problem that faces each and every one of us. Because they don't view us as separate. Whether it's different Christian denominations or different European denominations, different backgrounds. No. This is a fight for our society. For Christian society. For the Christian West. Will we continue to be the Christian West or will we let our countries and our lands fall into this barbarism? Will Rome be sacked again? I guess we'll find out.”

<custom_fields>

A Labour government scheme that would see UK firms receive thousands of pounds for hiring foreign workers is set to be unveiled, prompting criticism over its timing amid rising youth unemployment figures.

Announced on Wednesday by Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Business Secretary Peter Kyle, the program would provide subsidies of up to £25,000 for high-growth companies bringing in skilled overseas staff. Individual firms could claim around £5,000 per foreign worker, with an overall annual cap of £25,000 per business, per GB News.

The funding is aimed at supporting recruitment in sectors such as tech, digital industries, life sciences and clean energy. Officials say it is part of a wider effort to help “high-potential international businesses set up in the UK more quickly” and expand operations.

Alongside the subsidy, ministers are also preparing to speed up visa processing for “Expansion Worker” sponsor licences. These visas allow overseas companies to send staff to the UK to establish temporary operations. Processing times are expected to drop to around 10 days, down from several weeks.

Rachel Reeves said: "We are backing the UK's most ambitious firms to start, scale and stay here - with the finance, talent and support they need to succeed."

However, the announcement comes as concern grows over youth unemployment. A recent review linked to Alan Milburn found more than one million 16-to-24-year-olds in Britain are now not in education, employment, or training.

Criticism of the policy has focused on its impact on entry-level opportunities. Migration Watch UK told The Telegraph it "now seems the Government wants to make the backdoor into Britain even cheaper and more accessible". It also said: "This will be a disaster for young British workers who already face the worst jobs market in a generation.

"It comes in addition to the so-called 'Skilled Worker Visa' which is already abused to import supermarket staff and takeaway drivers, amongst others – exactly the sort of entry-level work young Britons used to do."

Callum Price of the Institute of Economic Affairs said: "The Government would be far better off making it easier for businesses to hire people, and making the UK an attractive place for high-skilled workers across the board, than spending taxpayer money on trying to pick limited winners."

Separately, Business Secretary Peter Kyle is expected to introduce a “concierge service” for scaling firms, modelled on systems used in France, Singapore and the US. The service would aim to help businesses navigate government processes more quickly.

Penny Verbe has been appointed as the Government’s new Scale Up Adviser, saying she looked forward to "help ensure that the UK’s most innovative businesses can scale, stay and thrive".

A government spokesperson said the measures are intended to address skills shortages and support domestic workers, adding: "We are helping high-growth UK firms access critical skills where there are clear gaps in the UK workforce, enabling them to scale up, invest and create jobs here in the UK – strengthening, not undermining, opportunities for the domestic workforce.

"We are backing British workers, including graduates, with £2.5bn in youth employment support, more apprenticeships and targeted action to help people into good jobs."

Several Belfast families were displaced after a night of disorder on Tuesday, wherein multiple homes, vehicles, and a Translink Glider city bus were set on fire following protests linked to the attempted beheading in the Northern Ireland city. Some reports have indicated that some of the houses specifically targeted were HMOs (Houses with Multiple Occupants), which typically house migrants and refugees.

Emergency services responded to dozens of incidents across the city, with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirming it attended 62 incidents overnight, most in the Belfast area. Police said public transport was suspended and several streets were closed as fires spread through residential neighbourhoods.

Among those affected was Jamie Corrie, who told the BBC that his east Belfast home was destroyed after a nearby vehicle was ignited. Speaking outside the burnt-out property on Lendrick Street, he said the fire escalated rapidly. “I told them before they were lighting the car, I said ‘this is my property’,” he said. “See standing there watching your house get burnt… that’s a feeling I’ll never get over.”

Corrie said that firefighters arrived after the property was "already engulfed in flames,” adding that personal belongings inside were lost.

A burnt-out city bus was also a victim of the fires, where it remained smouldering after being set alight. Witnesses reported masked groups moving through parts of east Belfast during the evening as fires broke out at multiple locations.

A number of residents were forced to evacuate their homes. Yura, 19, a Ukrainian woman who lives in east Belfast, said her household was impacted when fire spread to neighbouring properties. “My neighbour's house was set on fire. So, my front door caught the fire a bit. It had to be kicked out to stop the fire because it was about to go in the house,” she said. “I was with my dog at the house, so I had to escape through the back door.”

She added that she later stayed with friends overnight after leaving the area.

The disorder followed a knife attack and attempted beheading in north Belfast on Monday night, in which a man, Stephen Ogilvie, was seriously injured. A suspect, Hadi Alodid, 30, originally from Sudan, appeared in court charged with attempted murder. The attack was broken up after a passerby whacked Alodid with his hurley stick.

Police and political leaders have appealed for calm. PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher said officers would remain deployed in greater numbers, warning against online incitement. Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill condemned the violence, stating: “The scenes we all saw last night were nothing short of disgraceful. None of this is about community. It is thuggery.”

Fire damage was also reported at residential properties and commercial premises across Belfast and nearby areas, with some businesses confirming vandalism and structural damage following the unrest.
<custom_fields>

Belfast saw widespread riots on Tuesday after police charged a Sudanese migrant with attempted murder following a knife attack and attempted beheading that left a man with serious injuries, including the loss of his left eye. Vehicles were set ablaze, homes were damaged by fire, and police came under attack as protests spread through the city.

The uproar followed Monday's stabbing in north Belfast, where the victim, identified as Stephen Ogilvie, suffered severe injuries until a passerby broke up the attack by swatting him with his hurley stick. Police announced Tuesday that a man in his 30s had been charged with attempted murder and was due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court. The man was later identified as Hadi Alodid. In a hearing on Wednesday, the court was told that Ogilvie suffered serious injuries to his right eye, lost his left eye, and had deep slash wounds to his head, face, and back, per the New York Post.

Alodid reportedly told authorities that he committed the stabbing, saying, “I have killed someone. I don’t know if they are dead." He also allegedly threatened to kill a radiographer on the same day, reportedly telling them, "I will kill you."

According to Breitbart UK, protesters set fire to multiple vehicles, including a city bus and a police vehicle. In other areas, burning trash cans were pushed into roadways as crowds gathered through the evening. Emergency services were also called to residential properties after fires broke out in east Belfast, forcing some residents to leave their homes. Reports additionally emerged of petrol bombs being thrown at police officers in the Cloughfern area.

Political leaders urged calm as the situation developed. Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill condemned both the original attack and the subsequent disorder. “This has nothing to do with community. This is outright thuggery,” she wrote.

O'Neill added, “The attack in North Belfast was heinous and wrong. But there are dangerous attempts to exploit that to target and attack innocent people who are simply trying to live, work and raise their families here.”

She further criticized attacks on homes and residents, saying, “Groups of masked men burning families out of their homes is nothing less than disgusting cowardice… Racism, intimidation and violence are wrong wherever they occur. There can be no excuse and no justification for these attacks tonight. No one wants to see this on our streets and I again appeal for calm.”

The unrest came almost exactly one year after anti-migrant riots broke out in Northern Ireland following criminal charges against two Roma teenagers in Ballymena. Those disturbances lasted several days and led to reports of arson attacks targeting homes, with some families of Romanian and Bulgarian heritage leaving affected areas.

Ahead of Tuesday night's disorder, Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim Allister urged residents not to respond with violence. While acknowledging public anger over the stabbing and immigration issues, he said that violent protests would distract from political debates and provide opponents an opportunity to shift attention away from concerns raised by demonstrators.

Police remained deployed across Belfast late into the evening as authorities worked to restore order and investigate the incidents.

On Human Events Daily, Jack Posobiec reacted to circulating footage out of Belfast, describing a violent street attack and the response from bystanders who intervened before police arrived.

“Here we have a video of a migrant attempting to behead this Belfast man there in the street, when a group of heroes run up, get him off before police can even respond. A group of heroes run up and save his life. There's an invasion in your own lands.”

“For Ireland, for the UK, for Europe, for the entire West. Understand what time it is. Understand what part of the movie you're in.” Posoiec also slammed criticism of his commentary and targeted the Southern Poverty Law Center.

“I don't care what names you call us. I don't care what labels you write. I don't care what hit pieces you want to put up in any newspaper.”

“You got SPLC. He spoke the truth and he didn't care.”

“I don't care either. I don't care about your labels. I don't care about your narrative. You can shove it.”

Turning to immigration policy, Posobiec called for major policy changes in the UK and broader Western countries.

“They're chopping heads off in the street. They're killing sons. They're raping daughters. It has to stop and enough is enough.”

“We need full on re-migration. Not just mass deportations. Re-migration. And I'm not talking just illegals. I'm talking about all these programs, all these specialists, travelers work at the Haitians, but get them out. Get them all out. We don't want them here. We don't need them here. <snippet>“The mission is a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

The Trump administration launched strikes against Iran on Tuesday in response to an attack that was carried out by the Iranian regime on an US Army Apache helicopter that took place on Monday.

"U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces began launching self-defense strikes against Iran at 5 p.m. ET today at the Commander in Chief’s direction, in response to yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter. The mission is a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression," Central Command said in a post.

After Iran had downed the helicopter on Monday, Trump posted to Truth Social that there would be a response. The pilots on the helicopter were able to get away from the attack uninjured.

"I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz. There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday morning.

The response comes at a precarious time for the White House as there has been a ceasefire in the region as the Trump administration is trying to work out a deal. The post from Trump signaled that the conflict would be ramping back up after he has posted just hours earlier that a deal with Iran may be reached as soon as this week. He said that a deal could be signed in as little as "two or three days."

The conflict with Iran crossed the 100-day mark over the weekend, with the president trying to work out a deal to get the Iranians to give up their nuclear ambitions as well as open up the Strait of Hormuz for free trade.

After the crash of the plane, Iran did not claim responsibility. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, said in a statement to X, “Foreign forces in proximity to our territory are at constant risk on account of their own human errors, plain accidents, or potentially being caught in crossfire. To reduce risk, best solution is for them to leave."

Two men have been jailed for their roles in a Southampton protest that erupted following the brutal murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak. Connor Bishop, 24, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, while Leon O'Leary, 41, received a sentence of three years and one month after both admitted violent disorder per the BBC.

Footage shown in Southampton Crown Court showed O'Leary walking in the crowd when he spotted a smoke grenade, picked it up and threw it toward police, per the BBC. O'Leary also admitted to resisting a police officer and possession of a samurai sword.

For his part, Bishop was seen in footage wearing a black jumper with the words "boys get sad too" written on the back. He was filmed throwing a traffic cone toward police, according to the BBC.

The June 2 disruption left 11 police officers and a police dog injured as demonstrators hurled projectiles at officers. During sentencing, Judge William Mousley KC said police faced "constant assault" from projectiles and threats throughout the disorder according to reporting done by the BBC.

Bishop and O'Leary's legal representation said that the pair were not ringleaders in the disruption.

"They are not the instigators of this disorder, they are inevitable results of other individuals who seek to harness anger," said Thomas Evans, defending the two men.

The protest followed the release of body camera footage that showed Nowak dying in handcuffs after being stabbed by Vickrum Digwa, who was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for murder.

Digwa, 23, killed Nowak by stabbing him with a large knife he claimed to carry because of his Sikh faith. Digwa told police that he was the victim of a racist attack, leading officers to ignore Nowak's requests for medical assistance and arrest him instead. The incident has sparked massive outrage across Britain.

Although the court focused on the actions of those involved in the disorder, the protest itself was driven by widespread public outrage over the treatment of Nowak in his final moments. Questions surrounding the police response continue to draw attention, with the incident prompting calls for greater accountability and transparency from law enforcement.

      <snippet>“It was terrifying. The teacher tried to get the knife off her but ended up being stabbed in the neck.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

A teacher was stabbed in the neck, suffering injuries, and two students were injured after a 14-year-old girl carried out a knife attack inside a Manchester school on Monday morning. The attack happened at Co-op Academy Manchester in the Blackley area of the city.

Police arrested a 14-year-old girl at the scene and said she is being questioned on suspicion of wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Three people were taken to hospital, including the 27 year-old male staff member who suffered a neck injury. A 14-year-old girl received an injury to her shoulder, while a 14-year-old boy was injured on his ear. Authorities said all three were in stable condition and their injuries were not believed to be serious.

Witnesses identified the injured staff member as a science teacher known as Mr Abdullah. Students and parents at the scene said the teacher intervened as the incident unfolded. The student was not identified.

One student told the Daily Mail: "It was terrifying. The teacher tried to get the knife off her but ended up being stabbed in the neck. She tried to get outside the classroom to attack other kids but other teachers held the door closed on her." According to accounts from witnesses, multiple teachers prevented the student from leaving the classroom while staff worked to contain the situation until police arrived. Another student reportedly ran from the room shouting, "I've been stabbed."

Chief Inspector Jon Shilvock of Greater Manchester Police said officers do not believe there is any ongoing danger. "There is believed to be no wider threat at this time, and we thank everyone for their support as emergency services dealt with this," he said.

Police said they are not seeking any additional suspects and officers will remain at the school to provide reassurance to students, staff, and families.

The academy was placed into lockdown shortly after the start of the school day. Headteacher Phill Quirk later informed parents that the school would close for the remainder of the day while students were released with parental permission.

In a statement, Co-op Academies Trust said staff "acted bravely to quickly detain a student before emergency services arrived." The trust said the school will reopen as normal on Tuesday with emotional support available for students and staff.

Co-op Academy Manchester is a mixed secondary school with approximately 1,650 pupils.
<snippet>Pulte, whom Trump already trusts to lead the department temporarily, reflects the current state of affairs in America and in the MAGA movement.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

In the midst of the unfortunate resignation of Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence due to her husband's rare cancer diagnosis, America needs a Trump conservative to lead the department who will be loyal, decisive, and bring the same intensity, energy, and America-First mindset that Gabbard brought to the Administration. Luckily, President Donald J. Trump has already made that designation by naming Mr. Bill Pulte, an American business mogul and Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as the DNI's interim Director.

Pulte is already a Trump appointee who has shown his grit in the executive branch as head of the FHFA, and is a political outsider who wants to serve at the American people's behest. America First principles that prioritize the MAGA movement and who the movement was fit to serve are exactly the transitional move that DNI needs. The head of the DNI must have goals that challenge entrenched D.C. bureaucracy and protect the homeland of the United States of America.

The opposition that is being framed around Pulte thus far is the same set of enemies that produced some of the greatest members of Trump's current cabinet. Be that FBI Director Kash Patel, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, or Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, familiar opposition from Democrats and RINOs like Senator Mitch McConnell is mounting against Pulte because they know he is a change agent, similar to Tulsi Gabbard. With a city like D.C. that is reeking of a vicious mainstream media, deep state perpetrators, and resistance to the Trump agenda from Republicans and Democrats alike, the DNI needs a steadfast leader who has core conservative and America First virtues.

Pulte, whom Trump already trusts to lead the department temporarily, reflects the current state of affairs in America and in the MAGA movement. Whether it be his career in the private sector with PulteGroup and Pulte Capital, his philanthropic mindset towards veterans and the American people, or his unapologetic attitude in going after militant leftists such as New York Attorney General Letitia James, Senator Adam Schiff, or Federal Reserve Board Member Lisa Cook for mortgage fraud, Pulte has never mixed words when it has came to standing up for what is right and calling out what is hurting the men and women of the United States of America.

Institutional consensus has proven to be one of the worst reasons for deciding whether to trust a figure serving in the United States government. If Pulte is good enough for President Trump to stand for his policies, risk-aversions within the DNI, and common sense when it comes to shrinking the department to hyperfocus on the issues that the President sees fit, then he should be good enough for the politicians in the United States Senate who will be left up to confirm him or not.

Many problems in domestic and foreign policy make it necessary for President Trump to appoint a loyalist as the Director of National Intelligence. With an outsider like Pulte, who plans to be an outside force in the department, goals such as FISA abuses, election interference investigations, declassification, accountability, and a cultural overhaul can and will be at the top of the to-do list if Pulte is given permanent status as DNI. Moving the department from a tool for the left that it was pre-second-term Trump to a shield for conservatives is exactly the direction that Pulte will lead it into.

Loyalty is a political virtue that is not talked about or prioritized enough. Trump's selection of Pulte signals trust in the position of Director of National Intelligence. In the era of disloyalty in politics, domestic disruption and division, and a tug-of-war mentality over American political power, our nation has got to have fighters instead of functionaries.

The United States Senate should confirm Bill Pulte as the next Director of National Intelligence to drain the Swamp, promote the Trump agenda, and leave the national intelligence in the arms and at the service of the American people.

      <snippet>The suspect, identified in reports as a Sudanese migrant, was arrested at the scene.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

The man who heroically intervened to stop a knife attack in Belfast that left a victim with massive injuries has been identified as Maitiu Mag Tighearnan, who used a hurling stick to strike the suspect and help bring the assault to an end. Video of the Monday night attack on Kinnaird Avenue showed residents rushing to aid the victim as the suspect attacked him with a knife before being taken into police custody, reports The Telegraph.

Mag Tighearnan, who was visiting his partner on the street where the attack occurred, said on social media that he "just landed there by chance" and acted to "protect a lad." Footage circulating online showed him repeatedly striking the suspect with a hurley, a wooden stick used in the Irish sport of hurling, while other bystanders kicked and punched the man until he was subdued.

Police said the victim suffered significant injuries to his face, neck, and back in what authorities described as a brutal attack. The suspect, identified in reports as a Sudanese migrant, was arrested at the scene.

The victim, a man in his 40s, remains in critical condition in hospital with serious injuries to his face, neck and back. Police have arrested a man in connection with the attack on suspicion of attempted murder, and say enquiries are ongoing. Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson described the incident as “deeply concerning,” adding: “This is a deeply concerning assault, and I have declared this a critical incident. We have commenced an investigation to establish a motive.”

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said in a statement that a man in his 30s had been arrested following what it described as a serious knife assault in the Kinnaird Avenue area of north Belfast on Monday night. “A man in his 30s, believed to be Somalian, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault involving a knife in the Kinnaird Avenue area of north Belfast on Monday night... He remains in police custory. The injured man, aged in his 40s, is in hospital where his condition is described as serious. The attack has left the man with significant injuries to his face, neck and back.” It was later clarified that the man was in fact Sudanese, not Somalian.

Police confirmed the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack. Officers have not publicly confirmed a motive.
<snippet>The graphic shows the attacker sitting on top of the man in the street, holding his victim immobilized, as he uses a knife to attack his neck, sawing back and forth</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

A Sudanese migrant is under arrest in Belfast, Northern Ireland after he was seen attempting to saw a man's head off with a knife. The attack took place in the street as onlookers tried to get the man to stop, the victims face and head covered in his own blood. "He's trying to cut his head off," says a bystander.

The graphic video was shared widely on social media. It shows the attacker sitting on top of the man in the street, holding his victim immobilized, as he uses a knife to attack his neck, sawing back and forth. British nationalist activist Tommy Robinson was among those who shared the footage.

A bystander intervened by attacking the man with a hurling stick. He managed to get the attacker off the victim, who was then taken to Royal Victoria Hospital with critical injuries. Others jumped to his aid to wrestle the attacker to the ground. The attack took place in the north of the city, The Daily Mail reports, outside an apartment building on Kinnaird Avenue about 10:30 pm.

The victim was in his 40s and is in critical condition, with wounds to his face, neck and back. The Sudanese man was arrested for attempted murder. He was heard shouting in a foreign language during the attack. An investigation is apparently underway. "This is a deeply concerning assault," said Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson, "and I have declared this a critical incident. We have commenced an investigation to establish a motive."

The Police Service of Northern Ireland issued a statement, saying "A man in his 30s, believed to be Somalian, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault involving a knife in the Kinnaird Avenue area of north Belfast on Monday night... He remains in police custory. The injured man, aged in his 40s, is in hospital where his condition is described as serious. The attack has left the man with significant injuries to his face, neck and back."

Robinson later criticized "politicians and legacy media" for "trying to downplay the attemped beheading in Northern Ireland last night. The public will be out across the country tonight. You've got ot go Keir Starmer. Policing the Internet as our people are killed and raped!" Starmer has been attempting to crack down on tech companies.

Women's rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen also spoke out about the reporting on the attack, saying "Stabbing?!? A man lay in the floor whilst another tried to saw his head off with a small knife after stabbing him repeatedly in the face. These are not our crimes, We are not the same."

This attack comes just after the conviction and sentencing of Vickrum Digwa, a 23-year-old man who was sentenced to life in prison for the knife murder of Henry Nowak.

That December 2025 attack saw police take the side of the killer, who claimed Nowak had racially abused him, rather than tend to Nowak, who had been stabbed 5 times. Nowak bled to death in the street while handcuffed by police and under arrest.

Activists who oppose mass migration to the UK have called for a protest on Tuesday night at 7 pm local time at Coleraine Town Hall. A Facebook post calls for an "emergency protest." It reads: Emergency call to the Public after last night's vile disgusting act of brutality and violence from this African migrant on what is believed tobe a local 'Teenage Boy' has sparked fury & outrage across the whole of UK & Ireland. Tonight we stand in solidarity of both the Protestant and Catholic people of this tiny island." The victim was reportedly in his 40s, not a teenager, but the term likely references the Nowak killing.

Others have said that businesses in the area where the protest is expected to be staged have plans to shut down starting at 5:30 pm.

Photojournalist Aodhan Roberts shared images of the police presence at the scene of the crime.

British leaders spoke out on social media during what has been a trying time in their nation. First Minister Michelle O'Neill demanded that the attacker "face the full weight of the law" and commended those who intervened to stop the attack.

UK PM Kier Starmer spoke out, saying "The horrific attack in Belfast last night is sickening. I have absolutely no tolerance for abhorrent scenes of violence like this on our streets. My thoughts are first and foremost with the victim, and I thank the first responders, including members of the public who intervened."

"What happened in Belfast last night is horrific. The authorities must reveal the identity and status of the attacker immediately. The public are entitled to the truth," said Nigel Farage.

MP Rupert Lowe, who has been outspoken against mass migration, wrote to Starmer, saying "We have all seen the sickening video from Belfast. Full details of this savage's nationality, immigration status and religion must be made available to the public as a matter of urgency. The British people need to know the full truth. Now."
<snippet>“Today I am calling on the tech companies to introduce device-level controls to prevent children from taking, sharing or viewing nude images. And if they don’t act, we will.”</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on major tech companies to implement device-level controls supposedly aimed at stopping children from creating, sharing, or viewing nude images online, with the call renewing criticism from civil liberties groups and even prompting a flag from X's community notes.

“This government will not stand by while children are put at risk online,” Starmer wrote on X. “Today I am calling on the tech companies to introduce device-level controls to prevent children from taking, sharing or viewing nude images. And if they don’t act, we will.”

The announcement immediately received a community note, bringing up the recent resignation of former safeguarding minister Jess Phillips, who stepped down in May. Phillips’ departure was largely believed to be over these very safety reforms.

Phillips resigned citing frustrations over delays and weak implementation of child protection measures within the Starmer government. In her resignation letter, she wrote that while she believed Starmer was “a good man fundamentally,” she felt the government had made “catastrophic mistakes.”

“The desire not to have an argument means we rarely make an argument, leaving opportunities for progress stalled and delayed,” Phillips wrote. She also pointed to long-running proposals aimed at preventing minors from taking explicit images of themselves, arguing that progress had been slow despite available technical solutions.

She added: “I know you care deeply, but deeds, not words are what matter.”

Phillips also referenced internal policy frustrations, adding that delays to safeguarding reforms were part of a broader pattern of incremental decision-making. “I’m not sure we are grasping this rare opportunity with the gusto that’s needed and I cannot keep waiting around for a crisis to push for faster progress,” she wrote.

Political pressure on the failing Labour government has been building following repeated setbacks and ministerial turnover, with Phillips’ exit adding to party stresses.

On top of criticism from within, digital rights organizations have voiced clear concerns about the direction of UK online safety policy more broadly. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) listed out its concerns in clear terms, saying that age-verification and device-level controls could have sweeping consequences for privacy and security.

“The U.K.'s Online Safety Bill (OSB) is a 250+ page behemoth that attempts to tackle illegal and otherwise harmful content online by placing a duty of care on online platforms to protect their users from such content,” the EFF stated. “Despite being in the works for several years, the OSB remains vague about what it requires of platforms and users alike, and has been derided as a deeply flawed censorship proposal by experts, civil society, and companies.”

The organization also warned that such frameworks could require “privacy-intrusive age verification before a user can access a variety of sites” and argued that proposals in this area risk undermining encrypted communications and broader online security.

Critics of the policy, including Lawrence Fox, say that this is all a guise for Starmer to control the feeds of youth in a plot he says would make Chairman Mao proud. In a post to X, the commentator wrote, "You’re going to ban them from any news source except state approved propaganda until they are sixteen. Then once you have brainwashed them for their entire young life, you are going to give them the vote."

Other concerns come from how this would even be implemented, saying that device-level controls could be difficult to implement in practice without affecting general users, particularly if systems rely on identity or age verification at scale.
<custom_fields>

Lawyer and commentator Viva Frei argued during an appearance on Human Events Daily that evidence presented in the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony undermines claims that the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf was an act of lawful self-defense.

Frei, who noted that he is a former litigator in Quebec but not a criminal lawyer in Texas, discussed the legal issues surrounding the case as prosecutors continue presenting evidence, including the knife allegedly used in the fatal encounter and testimony from witnesses.

"I always qualify this, I'm a former Quebec litigator, never done criminal law in the States, Texas has what's known as imperfect self-defense, so that even if your fear of immediate bodily harm was unwarranted or irrational, it can still be argued as a mitigating factor," Frei said.

Frei also criticized early reporting and online commentary surrounding the case, saying conflicting claims had circulated about the weapon involved and Anthony's reasons for being at the location where the confrontation occurred.

"The bottom line is this, first of all, misinformation, disinformation galore," Frei said. He said that some reports initially claimed Anthony used a cleat-cleaning tool rather than a knife, while others argued it was not unusual for an athlete to possess a blade at a sporting event. Frei said his understanding was that Anthony was not competing at the time and had gone to a different team's tent.

"My understanding, he wasn't even competing, he went over to the other tent, and if we want to steel man this, some people are suggesting he went over to the other tent because his team didn't have a tent, there was a storm coming in, etc, etc, so he was just taking refuge and they told him to leave and he took umbrage with that," Frei said.

Frei argued that the physical evidence described during the trial is inconsistent with a response to a minor physical altercation.

"The idea that this is touch me and I get to stab you through the heart, highlighting that, it's not like he punched somebody and the kid fell back and knocked his head and died that way, that happens as well, and then the argument is, well I obviously didn't mean to kill him at all, but then you unfortunately have to take your victim in the state that they come," he said.

Frei pointed to testimony regarding the severity of the wound sustained by Metcalf. "This is plunging a five-inch blade through his sternum into his heart with such force that it penetrates and breaks off bone from his sternum. This was intended to be lethal force, and for what?" Frei said. "For what could at best be described as battery, if that?"

"Some people sit there, 'oh he assaulted him, he put his hands on--' no, unwanted touching is battery in most places, assault is you need to cause the person or have the intention of causing the person to fear harm," Frei said.

Frei rejected arguments that the incident could establish a precedent for broad self-defense claims following routine physical confrontations.

"And the idea that somehow people want to say this is now legitimate stand your ground defense, so every time there's a shove at a track meet at a high school, you have the precedent where you can stab someone to death if you think that you're defending yourself, it's ex post facto justification, an attempt to, for what is nothing shy of murder."
<snippet>The May jobs report is the latest in a line of strong economic indicators.</snippet>

      <custom_fields>

Turns out, to the dismay and frustration of the media and Democrats they represent, the American economy is doing quite well. And this, despite the Iran war spiking gas prices, which is one of the most visible and constant prices Americans see.

The propagandistic narrative is strong and constantly reinforced by the media, spreading like wildfire on social media, which tends to reward the most negative news. Good news just doesn't sell, at digital newsstands or swipey apps. And everyone gets easily stuck in a narrative even when facts intrude. But reality, as usual, is quite different from what is online.

The May jobs report is the latest in a line of strong economic indicators. The experts set expectations for May at 85,000 new jobs. But the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday that 172,000 new jobs were created, more than twice as many as economists expected.

This is the third straight month of strong job growth, which gets an annoyingly short news cycle and not much virality on social media.

But not only were previous months similarly strong; they were later revised upward. Revisions get exactly zippo attention if they happen in a Republican presidency. So here is that data: The number of new jobs in March were adjusted up by 29,000, from 185,000 to 214,000. In April, those numbers were adjusted up a lot more, from 115,000 to 179,000, or 64,000 more jobs. Only a strong economy can knock out these kinds of numbers.

The result of this new jobs haul is that the unemployment rate remains low while job vacancies have increased to the point that there are more job openings than there are people looking for jobs. The BLS reported that job openings increased to 7.6 million, up 4.6 percent from April. This year, job openings increased by 520,000.

But while there are 7.6 million job openings, there are only 7.2 million people looking for jobs. This suggests a strong jobs market. But you'd never know that by consuming the negative nabobs in the media or the social media amplification.

The only area that needs work is inflation, particularly compared to wage growth, which has averaged about 3.5 percent this year, while inflation has ticked up to 3.8 percent. This is entirely due to energy costs, particularly gas prices.

In Trump's first year of this term, 2025, inflation was 2.6 percent, well below wage growth. So Americans were making up ground from the dark Biden years. But gas prices spiking 28 percent this year has driven the inflation rate up. And that is due to Iran.

Which means enough else is in place that, if Iran can be resolved in some way, it can be resolved. Obviously, easier said than done with a duplicitous, terrorist regime that will slaughter its own people for political gain, inflation will drop again, and the American economy will roar.

Yet remember, the last three months of very strong job growth comes entirely during the Iran war period. The foundations are in place, just as they were in the first Trump term until the wild overreaction to the Covid "pandemic" destroyed the economy just in time for the 2020 election.

If Americans vote on kitchen table issues, and they almost always do, and say those are by far the most important this year, then the way forward to greatly improve chances that Trump can retain a supportive Congress for his agenda is to do whatever needs to be done about the Strait of Hormuz. Basically, stabilize global oil flows.

If gas prices return rapidly to pre-Iran levels, kitchen-table voters will look much more favorably on Republicans. Everything else is in place and cranking.
