The Cannes Film Festival began on Wednesday, with Catching Fire a part of it this year. Their presentation was this morning and pictures have been revealed of Catching Fire cast and crew in attendance at the Festival. Attendants include “Producer Jon Kilik, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Patrick Wachsberger, cast Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin, Director Francis Lawrence, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Robert Friedman and Producer Nina Jacobson”.

ABOUT THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has sold over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

In a surprise announcement today, Lionsgate divulged a new commercial partner for The Hunger Games franchise: COVERGIRL cosmetics. The cosmetic line was used exclusively onset of the second film in the series, Catching Fire, and it appears that relationship has grown into a new line of COVERGIRL cosmetics based on the Capitol fashion scene:

This isn’t the first time that Lionsgate has teamed up with the beauty market. Fans will remember last year’s partnership with China Glaze to produce a line of nail polishes based loosely on the twelve districts of Panem.

No news as to what this “footage” they are showing will be. We’ll keep you updated if/when we learn more. The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 15 – 26.
