I was thinking to myself last night that within the next five or ten years - the problems that the State of California are now facing might be the same ones that the US government will face as our elected leaders continue to spend more money than they take in through taxation. For far too long Republicans have blamed the Democrats for overspending while at the same time Democrats have blamed the Republicans for too many tax breaks for the rich.

Rather than continuing the same old blame game that has put us all into a financial mess, it's time for someone from some political party to stand up and tell the truth to the American people. That hard truth is that both the Republicans and Democrats have over promised what is possible for government to deliver and soon a day of reckoning will appear and no one is going to like what the day looks like. For decades, Congress has just "kicked the can" down the road when it comes to acting in a responsible way and just like any regular person, there is always a limit to how much can be spent before totally bankruptcy becomes the only viable option.

While I blame most of today's financial problems on politicians in Washington, we the people are just as much to blame as they are because we keep sending them back to office despite their previous bad behavior. The reason is simple. One mans pork project is another ones government supported job - so no matter how much Americans complain about crazy pork ridden spending by the Congress, at the end of the day if that money is coming back to their community - they don't want it cut. When it comes to government spending, most Americans are hypocritical in how the federal government should spend our tax money.

Right now while the US government is close to going broke, President Obama and Members of Congress continue to increase government spending to record high levels. Of course, just like the politicians of the past - the current ones in Washington can spin a good story about why all this new government spending is necessary and they also falsely claim that all of this new spending will be paid for without the US government going into deeper debt. Sadly, I fear that the United States of America will be forced into it's own type of bankruptcy before any of our elected leaders learn to act responsibly. The US government has been living on a high limit Visa card for a long time now, but our credit limit will soon be suprassed.

Title: US Government Going Broke?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Debbie Rowe Sells Kids?

When it comes to motherhood, people don't get much worse than the mother of two of the late Michael Jackson's kids. Debbie Rowe was quick to decide to fight for custody of her two kids with Michael Jackson after his untimely death late last month, but today there are rumors circulating around the Internet that Debbie Rowe is prepared to not fight for custody of her kids if the Jackson family will pay her four millions dollars. Is it really possible that a mother would sell her own kids for four million dollars? Apparently so.

For months I have written about the worst of the worst when it comes to mothers in a young woman named Casey Anthony. Now, apparently, Debbie Rowe is nothing short of the California version of Casey Anthony if the news stories that have become public this week are correct. Before Michael Jackson's untimely death late last month, it was clear to everyone involved in the raising of two of his three children that Debbie Rowe was not interested in doing the hard work that is necessary to raise young children. However, once Michael Jackson died - then there was a new revenue stream opened up to Debbie Rowe and right now she is milking all of that possible new money for all she can get.

I doubt if many people take Debbie Rowe at her word when she talks about how much she loves her children that she brought into this world with the help of the late Michael Jackson. While it would be easy to just dump Debbie Rowe in with the rest of the money hungry scavengers that are popping up daily in Michael Jackson's former life, for me Debbie Rowe is more evil than most of them because she is using her own children to in a legal way extort more money out of the Michael Jackson estate. In every way that matters, Michael Jackson himself is to blame for all of these money hungry folks being allowed into his inter circle.

Ever since Michael Jackson died late last month, there have been many stories that have shown us all what kind of person he really was and also we now know better how Michael Jackson would use his considerable financial resources to not only control the lives of other people - but he also used that wealth and fame to keep himself supplied for years with drugs to help him go to sleep. In the end, it will probably turn out that Michael Jackson's own hands were involved more than anyone else in his early death. Now that Michael Jackson is dead, the worst thing in the world anyone could or should do is to continue Michael Jackson's dysfunctional lifestyle by putting two of his three kids back in the arms of their no good mother and/or providing a financial settlement to Debbie Rowe just to get her to go away.

Title: Debbie Rowe Sells Kids?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Romo Dumped Jessica Simpson?

It's finally official that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has dumped Jessica Simpson. A few years back, millions of Dallas Cowboys fans blamed Ms. Simpson for Tony Romo's bad play on the football field. I still remember a Saturday night Dallas Cowboys game on cable television when all of the announcers and most of the fans in the stands placed a cut out picture of Jessica Simpson over their face in what turned out to be a national joke for a short while. While Americans love to follow their celebrities, for true blue Dallas Cowboys fans - anything or anyone that effects the play of the starting quarterback will soon go down in flames.

From the beginning, I never really thought that a long term relationship between Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo really stood a chance in the first place. Sure, opposites attract - but there is a world of difference between the personality of Tony Romo and that of Jessica Simpson. Now that Tony Romo has finally broken up offically with Jessica Simpson - maybe both of these young people can get on with their life and more importantly, maybe Tony Romo will get about the business of helping the Dallas Cowboys win more games in the 2009 season. While that is the outcome I would like to see from the Romo/Simpson breakup, in the end it might turn out that Tony Romo was the wrong starting quarterback for the Cowboys at this place and time.

Maybe it's because of his wealth and fame at such an early age, but Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo seems to have a need to hang out with celebrities in Hollywood. In addition to a long term relationship with Carrie Underwood which did not end in a lasting commitment - Tony Romo has also been seen over the past couple of years in the company of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. While many Dallas Cowboys fans blamed Romo's bad play on the football field on Jessica Simpson, in reality if he does not play well this year those same fans will find someone else to blame his poor on field play, on.

Frankly, it's probably easier to win the Power Ball lottery than it is for a young couple like Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson to create a long and lasting relationship. It was pretty easy to see a couple of years ago that a long term relationship between Romo and Simpson was not in the cards. However, just like the rest of us who experienced love at a young age - Romo and Simpson are finding out that what seemed to be a good, stable and strong relationship at the beginning does not have the needed elements necessary to sustain it over the long haul.

Title: Romo Dumped Jessica Simpson?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Will Sotomayor Be Confirmed?

For political hacks, this week is the equivalent of the Superbowl in politics. Today, President Obama's nominated Supreme Court nominee goes before the Senate for confirmation hearings to attempt to become the next associate member of the U.S. Supreme Court. So, the real question here is will Sonia Sotomayor be confirmed and become the newest associate member of the U.S. Supreme Court? Right now, most experts believe that barring any last minute negative revaluations - Sotomayor will be confirmed by the full Senate.

Depending on your point of view, the next few days of Senate confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor will either be the best or worst that this great nation has to offer. For extreme political partisans, there is nothing more important than the confirmation of a new justice to the U.S. Supreme Court. All of this attention toward the nomination process of new Supreme Court members became a full fledged political battlefield after Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in the United States. Before that landmark decision, few people even paid attention to who was selected to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.

People who have extreme political views have their cold beer and peanuts ready to listen to every single minute of this weeks Sonia Sotomayor Senate confirmation testimony and they will cheer on their side (either liberal or conservative) as Republicans throw hardball questions at Judge Sotomayor, while Democrats toss around softballs. As a political moderate, I watch with amazement as this political ritual occurs every time a sitting Supreme Court member decides to retire or dies. In my view, it would be wonderful if all Supreme Court members were moderate - but that would be impossible in our current politically divided nation.

While many of you will be listening to every word that is said in the Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearings this week, I will just keep up with the daily recaps after all the fireworks are over. If Washington conventional wisdom turns out to be correct in the Sonia Sotomayor nomination process - soon we will have a new associate member of the U.S. Supreme Court. When and if that happens, liberals will praise Sotomayor as the best thing since sliced bread - while conservatives will sound more like chicken little as they proclaim that finally it is true that the sky is falling.

Title: Will Sotomayor Be Confirmed?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Who Killed Caylee Anthony?

While no one but the actual killer really knows who killed Caylee Anthony, conventional wisdom has pointed to her mother Casey Anthony now for over one year. I too believe that Casey Anthony killed her two year old daughter Caylee, but I am still willing to keep an open mind about who the real killer of Caylee Anthony was until her moms trial gets underway this fall.

If a selfish Casey Anthony did not exist, a high profile murder trial would have to make up someone as narcissistic and evil just to make the case seem interesting. However, almost from day one - Casey Anthony has been her own worst enemy as she endlessly talked about herself as her two year old child went missing. People that have followed closely the case of missing Caylee Anthony from the beginning base most of their hatred for Casey Anthony on the fact that while Caylee went missing - her mom Casey was having a grand old time going out drinking and having sex with different men almost every single night.

It wasn't until after almost one full month of a missing Caylee Anthony that her grandmother Cindy called police and said that there was a smell of death in her own daughter Casey Anthony's car. However, it was not long until Cindy Anthony seemed to come under some kind of spell and at that time she said that the smell she first experienced in her daughter Casey Anthony's car was probably from spoiled pizza instead of from what allegedly turned out to be a dead body. At that point in time, Cindy Anthony seemed to go from a sympathetic figure in the eyes of the general public to something more monstrous like her daughter Casey.

Modern day murder trials in the U.S. are nothing short of a smoke and mirrors act put on by high priced lawyers that want a jury to see anything but the truth right in front of their face. So, who killed Caylee Anthony? My belief is still on Casey Anthony her mother who has done absolutely nothing to prove that she even cared about her two year old daughter Caylee and she is also a person that from all outward appearances seems to care more about herself than any other living or death human being on this Earth.

Title: Who Killed Caylee Anthony?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

What Killed Michael Jackson?

Just like clock work, some of Michael Jackson's family are looking outward in an attempt to blame someone besides Michael for his own death. While it might be true that when the LA medical examiner comes back with a final cause of death report that it might point toward someone other than Michael that injected drugs into his body, at the end of the day will common sense thinking people really blame anyone except Michael Jackson for his own death?

It is true that we all live in a tabloid society where huge entertainment stars like Michael Jackson become larger than life. However, now that most of the shock has worn off that a great musical and dancing talent has died - more and more people are going to start looking at Michael Jackson himself as the person that caused his own death and they will also begin to stop blaming the people around Michael Jackson who were well paid to look the other way and also encouraged to provide drugs of convenience to Jackson when he demanded them. Put as simply as I can, Michael Jackson was no victim.

Let's for a minute just take Michael Jackson down to the level of any person that is addicted to drugs. Addicts will always lie, cheat and steal to get their next fix and if Michael Jackson was not famous - few people, including myself, would even know that he had died. The difference between Michael Jackson and some other drug addicted person on the street only revolves around money and the attention that is given to the famous in the media today. While it is convenient for the Jackson family to try and find blame outside of Michael Jackson himself, in reality most people are pretty sure what killed Michael Jackson and that is his addiction to drugs.

Now that Michael Jackson is dead, wouldn't it be nice if his family reached out to drug addiction organizations to use their good name to help save someone else that was not as famous as their family member? However, I doubt that will happen - because from all the latest news reports that have been coming out of the Jackson family camp, they are dead set on finding anyone except Michael to blame for his death and that is the biggest shame in this whole tragic story.

Title: What Killed Michael Jackson?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Cheney CIA Congressional Lies?

Right now, it's hard to know whether or not former VP Dick Cheney ordered the CIA to lie to Congress, but if he did GOP Members of Congress are backing a bad sheep that will come back and bite them in the butt at some future date. Let face it, with the exception of hard right conservatives - former VP Dick Cheney is not liked or appreciated by much of the American public. Rightly or wrongly, when most American look at Dick Cheney they have a negative opinion and if it does eventually turn out that he was running a government inside the U.S. government that was ordered to lie or mislead Congress - he will have set back GOP party rebuilding efforts for decades.

Unlike President George W. Bush who left Washington D.C. at the end of his term to start enjoying his retirement, former Vice-President Dick Cheney has been all over the news media criticizing the actions of our new President Barack Obama. It's difficult to know for sure, but Cheney may have been front and center criticizing the Obama administration from day one because he was afraid that his little secret operation that was withheld from Congress might come to light and he wanted to muddy the water before that happened. Remember that Dick Cheney has served in high government office before and when his time was up he gladly went into the private sector and made millions of dollars leading companies like Haliburton.

So why is former VP Dick Cheney so interested in keeping a big public profile now that he and George W. Bush are no long leading the country? If you are a hard right conservative your answer would probably be because of his concern about the safety of the U.S. under a President Barack Obama administration. However, if you are a hard left liberal - you most likely are thinking the worst about Dick Cheney because you never liked or trusted him from day one. Most of the time, the real answer to political questions like this one are found in the political middle and that is probably where the answer to this question will be found as well.

Unlike most hard left liberals, I do not see any horns growing out of the head of former VP Dick Cheney. However, I am just as certainly not ready to elevate his service to this country to something akin to sainthood, like some conservatives do, either. I will just say this, if the GOP is right and this current flap about VP Cheney withholding information about a secret project from Congress is a lie, then I will be more inclined to increase my opinion of Dick Cheney. However, if Dick Cheney was running a government within the government of the United States that was outside of review of the U.S. Congress - then he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Title: Cheney CIA Congressional Lies?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Should Military Ban Smoking?

Sadly, the politically correct crowd has made their way to the brave men and women of the U.S. armed forces and they are intent on banning smoking in the military. While everyone with a brain knows that it is dangers to smoke cigarettes, whatever happen to the time honored position of most Americans to let their friends and neighbors make their own choices even if they are bad for their health? So, should the military ban smoking? I say heck no!

Only a liberal fool would think that it is the right decision to force young men and women that decided to sign up voluntarily to service in the military to try and control their own personal behavior while doing their jobs under the most hazardous of situations. What's next? Will liberal groups start to demand that our brave soldiers shoot to wound the enemy rather than their time honor position to shoot to kill? I certainly hope not, but being politically correct about smoking in the private and stateside government sector is one thing - but demanding a smoke free environment for soldiers is the most crazy thing I have heard in years.

The minority of people that make up the far left extreme of the Democratic Party are just as crazy as their counterparts on the far right that want to control the human behavior of others. I say, if a soldier wants or needs a cigarette after fighting for his or her life for hours - then who are these few political correct liberals to tell them no? Rather than trying to control the personal choices of our brave men and women in the military by imposing a smoking ban on them while in the heat of battle, these liberal nut jobs should be thanking them for putting their lives on the line for their very freedom.

For far too long, the extremes of the left and right have tried to control the personal human choices of other Americans. I don't know why some people cannot just leave other people alone if they are not hurting them, but that kind of mind you own business attitude is not in the DNA makeup of right and left wing extremist. So, should the military ban smoking among the troops? I say no and if you agree, make sure that you opinion is heard through you local Member of Congress.

Title: Should Military Ban Smoking?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Is Gold Recession Proof?

Sometimes, late at night, there are commercials on cable television that always catch my attention. You may have seen these commercials too where a famous TV actor makes the statement that Gold is recession proof? The first few times I heard this claim I kind of let it go in one ear and out the other, but now that the U.S. economy is in recession and the price of Gold has risen to almost $1000 per ounce - maybe those late night television commercials are right.

Most people already know that when the U.S. dollar is low, the price of Gold goes in the opposite direction. However, when the U.S. dollar is strong - the price of Gold can go very low over a short period of time. Without really meaning harm to the United States of America - thousands of Americans, from time to time, bet against the U.S. dollar - at least over the short run. During those times, the price of Gold is indeed recession proof. So right now, while the U.S. economy is in the midst of recession - the international value of the U.S. dollar is extremely low while the price of Gold continues to soar.

So is Gold recession proof? I guess in a way it is if you know when to buy Gold and when to sell it. Timing in the Gold market is critical to earning profits over the long haul. The people right now that are happy with the price of Gold so high are the people that bought Gold in 2007 and 2008 when the price per once of Gold was low and the value of the U.S. dollar was high. However, just like in the wild west days of the 1800's - a Gold rush has gotten underway again in the United States and sadly most people that are just now getting into the Gold market, will lose a bunch of money when this worldwide recession ends and Gold prices drop quickly.

The last time Gold prices were as high as they are today, it was back in the 1970's during another recession. I remember that period of time well because I was in high school and just like the recession of 2009, high gas prices were part of the cause of the 1970's recession as well. Is Gold recession proof? Absolutely, if you have the vision to see when a recession will happen before everyone else does. While it is tough to argue that the Earth is not warming, to automatically assume that mankind and our pollution is solely responsible for the rise in temperatures is part of the reason why so many people believe that global warming is not real.

I believe that most Americans would believe global warming is real except for the actions of former Vice-President Al Gore. What Gore did was turn the whole global warming movement into a political hot potato between liberals and conservatives. In my opinion, science should be left to the scientist and controversial scientific opinions like global warming should not be grabbed onto by Al Gore or anyone else for that matter for political advantage or in an attempt to win a Nobel Peace prize for his work in promoting global warming as real science.

I believe that global warming is real and to a certain extend the dirty ways of mankind are making it worse. However, President Obama will soon learn that Americans will say one thing when asked about global warming in public opinion polls and react entirely different when the changes necessary to correct it start to cost them money. While I believe that global warming is real, I do not believe that it will be the certain cause of destruction of the planet as so many true believers do.

Let's face it, if global warming is real - then we need to clean up our ways so our children have a decent planet to call home. However, if global warming is not real - then what will it really hurt to better clean up after ourselves? I know real global warming deniers would argue about how much it will cost us to solve a problem that does not exist. To that I say, yes it will cost money to clean up the environment - but with so much waste already going into pork projects in Washington that the public will never see benefit from, cleaning up this planet is something both rich and poor alike will appreciate equally.

Title: Is Global Warming Real?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Should Katie Couric Quit?

Should Katie Couric quit her job on the CBS Evening News and move back to morning television, a place where she excelled for years? Of course, the answer to that question is all up to her - but it has become clear now that the millions of TV fans that loved Katie Couric on the "Today Show" do not like her as well delivering hard news for 30 minutes per day. In fact, I will go once step further and not blame any of the poor ratings for the CBS Evening News personally on Katie Couric.

Instead, TV news has changed considerably over the past 20 years - but old timers that have worked for decades at the big three television networks have not changed with them. Sadly, it has become easy for the leaders of the news divisions at CBS, ABC and NBC to bury their heads in the sand and live in a state of denial believing that the good old days will return when broadcast network television evening news programs will once again shine and also be a ratings winner.

In the same way that there are few steel mills still operating in the United States, the big three evening news broadcast are no longer needed or wanted by the American public. Sure, there are many people that blame the person sitting in the anchor chair for all the ratings problems - but if those same people would accept change in the same way their programming tells autoworkers that they should just move on to other careers, they would begin to see the truth of what has happened to broadcast television in the United States.

There is a certain poetic justice at work here when the leaders of the big three broadcast television news divisions have for years used their powerful positions to tell other Americans how they should live and also advise them of how they should just move on to different careers when their current one became obsolete because of a changing global economy. Now, the same powerful leaders that told everyone else just to suck it up when their lifetime careers went away are now learning first hand what everyone else was going through and soon they will be forced to accept their own advice and discovery that it is easier to tell someone else to just move on than it is to accomplish that yourself.

Title: Should Katie Couric Quit?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Will General Motors Survive?

The new General Motors was born yesterday after only six short weeks in bankruptcy. Now, all Americans are wondering if the new General Motors will survive or within the next two years will we see our taxpayer dollars lost because General Motors did not learn valuable lessons from it's previous business missteps. All day yesterday, the new CEO of General Motors was being interviewed via major television networks and from what I saw - I am very concerned that General Motors is more likely to fail today than it was before it sought bankruptcy protection.

While executives at General Motors and the UAW that represents the thousands of workers at the company that build cars, trucks and vans have tightened their belts and agreed to huge pay and benefit cuts, in the end it is not going to matter at all - if the American people are not sold on the quality of the new cars, trucks and vans that are manufactured in the United States. While General Motors claims that their new line of vehicles will be of much better quality, they still will have a long way to go to be trusted as much as Toyota and Honda are by their customers today.

Most American in a public opinion poll that was taken several months ago said that they preferred that the U.S. government just let General Motors go out of business, rather than pumping billions of taxpayer dollars into a company that is likely to fail again even after filing for bankruptcy protection. What is at the root of why it will be so hard for General Motors to survive even after filing for bankruptcy is the loss of customer confidence in the brand names that make up the General Motors line of vehicles.

While all experts agree that the new General Motors will be building higher quality cars, trucks and van - no expert is will to say on or off the record that vehicle quality at the new General Motors will be better than either Honda or Toyota. For General Motors to survive, they must start building American cars that have equal to and/or higher quality ratings than foreign brands like Honda and Toyota. If General Motors cannot accomplish that task, then all the billions of dollars that have flowed to that company over the past six months by taxpayers will be lost for good.

Title: Will General Motors Survive?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Why People Get Fat

The question as to why people get fat has been discussed for generations. While the answer to why people get fat is easy to answer from a scientific standpoint (eating more calories than the body needs to survive), in reality if it were really that easy - there would not be an obesity crisis happening right now around the world. For lack of a better term, I believe that the reason why so many more people are getting fat today than in the past has more to do with stress than any other single cause. We have all heard the term comfort foods and in my opinion comfort foods have about the same effect on the brain as a prescription tranquilizer.

Of course, the big difference between comfort foods and a prescription tranquilizer is that while the pill has no calories, comfort foods are loaded with them. The best way to find out why people are getting fatter today than in the past is easily spotted just be an examination of history books. Not that many years ago, our ancestors worked hard each day just to earn a living. While it was common for only the man to work outside the home a few generations ago, life was certainly no picnic for women either who went to work around the house long before sunup and retired for the day long after the sun went down.

Back in those days, most people were not fat because there was little time to eat because work required twelve to fifteen hours per day. Most of the time, the husband of the family would take a sack lunch with him when he left in the morning and that was all he ate for the next 12 to 13 hours of his day. Back at the house, the wife was busy taking care of many more kids than is common today - so there was little time for her to sit around and eat until the husband returned home after sunset. Now here's the fact that the obesity police in the government and the major news media don't want you to here. Back generations ago when few people were considered fat, the average lifespan was about 50 years. Today, fat folks are living well into their 80's and 90's.

Don't get me wrong, it is not healthy to be too fat - but I don't believe it's the end of the world either. We should all try to add healthier foods to our daily diet and in some ways that will help keep some of extra fat off of us. However, since I believe that stress is that major reason why people are fat in the first place - having the government and judgmental members of the mainstream news media pressuring us continually to lose weight will accomplish little more than to make us even fatter. It's a proven fact that on average really thin people live longer than people who are fat. However, I would just like to ask one simple question. Are those really thin people that live a few years longer than the fat ones really happy in those last couple of years or are they depressed and miserable?

Title: Why People Get Fat
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

More AIG Bonuses Coming

Wouldn't it be great to live like the super rich. It was announced today than in less than a week, there will be even more AIG bonuses passed out to former executives that drove that company down so far that U.S. taxpayers had to bail them out. Now, the same people that were working for AIG this time last year are ready to receive around 2.4 million dollars in additional bonus payments. I know it might be hard for some of you to believe, but where I work - if I messed up as bad as these guys, my company would have fired me with no severance and if I asked for and demanded a big bonus on the way out the door they would have called security to remove me from the building.

The current powers that be at AIG are very concerned that the American people are going to become outraged again when these new bonuses are handed out at the end of July. I wonder what makes them think that? This time, instead of taking the PR fall all by themselves - AIG executive are heading to the federal government and asking them to give their blessing for these new bonuses before they are handed out. The last time AIG paid millions of dollars of bonuses after accepting billions of dollars in public taxpayer assistance, AIG was forced to hire added security personnel to protect their corporate headquarters and employees that work there.

Folks, I believe in capitalism and I want to make as much money as the next guy - but these clowns at AIG and other Wall Street companies that were never forced to take a financial fall in the past when they mess up are still living in some kind of dreamland. It does not help the situation when Members of Congress and the Obama administration say one thing to the American people and then give a wink and a nod to big companies like AIG which finance the reelection campaigns of Members of Congress. There is a deepening boil that is going on inside of the American people and not all of that angry is directed at AIG. Members of Congress and some in the Obama administration are just as much to blame.

I believe the vast majority of the American people were correct when they first said that AIG should be allowed to failed, instead of being propped up by billions of dollars of taxpayers money. Most Americans understand that true capitalism is not politically correct, but instead it is something that more resembles survival of the fittest. Raw capitalism is both good and bad. However, it would be a huge mistake to try and turn capitalist businesses like AIG into some kind of politically correct extension of the U.S. government. The taxpayers have already paid a huge price to keep AIG in business and soon I fear that we will be asked to give up even more of our taxpayer dollars to save a company that should have been allowed to just go out of business.

Title: More AIG Bonuses Coming
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Michael Jackson Cause Of Death

Over the next few weeks, we should all learn exactly what killed Michael Jackson. My guess is still that some kind of drug overdose took the life of the "King Of Pop", but in reality it could eventually turn out that the cause of Michael Jackson's death occur for more than one particular reason. Earlier this week, millions of people around the world stopped what they were doing to watch the Michael Jackson memorial on television and now all eyes are focused on the LA medical examiners office for answers as to why Michael Jackson suffered a sudden death a couple of weeks ago.

Even when the LA corner releases a report on what was the cause of Michael Jackson's death, in the end - much of the reasons why he died at such an early age has to point at Michael himself. While it may be true that doctors enabled Michael Jackson to become a drug abuser, I believe all of us have free will - so Michael Jackson himself played as big of a role in his own death as any medical doctor. All of us must take personal responsibility for our own choices in life or we will end up with no life at all.

I heard on a news report yesterday that Michael Jackson's personal doctor was paid $150,000 per month for his services. Wow, that figure is almost too hard for a country boy like me to comprehend - but it does explain why his current doctor and others before him found it difficult to say no to Michael Jackson when he wanted them to provide him with powerful narcotic drugs. There just seems to be something strange and wrong with Michael Jackson having a medical doctor available to him 24/7.

I am sure many of you reading this will disagree with my assessment that Michael Jackson was the primary cause of his own death. For the past week, the mainstream news media, friends and family of Michael Jackson have tried to portray him as nothing less than a victim of the people around him. While I loved Michael's music, I could tell from a distance that his own personality was one of a self destructive nature. So no matter what the LA medical examiner eventually says killed Michael Jackson, in my gut I will always believe that more than half of the real cause of Michael Jackson's death was of his own making.

Title: Michael Jackson Cause Of Death
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

GM Goes Green Next?

There are strong rumors out today that the next big step that General Motors (GM) will take after it's bankruptcy reorganization will be to turn what use to be a company filled with SUV gas hogs, into a new company where green is considered not only good - but Gold as well. In a way, I am not surprised by GM's decision to change their company image to one that is environmentally green - considering that the current CEO of GM is for all practical purposes President Barack Obama.

While I support President Obama on many things, I believe that if he tries to force GM into an environmentally green company during one of the worst recessions we have witnessed in decades - he could very well make sure that GM goes from bankruptcy to a company that will only be remembered in history books. I know that liberal democrats consider "Climate Change" the most important issue of our time, but for most Americans that I know - they are more concerned with their job and the rising cost of gasoline than some future climate change catastrophe which some of them don't even believe in.

I believe what the American people want from the next GM, is not a greener car company - but simply they expect them to build an automobile with the same or higher quality than what people have already grown to expect from Toyota and Honda. The reason why Honda and Toyota are able to move in an environmentally green way right now is because they have already sold American consumers on their quality, which is something GM has yet to do.

When it comes to whether GM goes green or not, I believe that company leaders in Detroit should focus on winning back consumers with quality first - before they start trying to become a politically correct bankrupt automobile company. I believe with all my heart that if GM tries to sell low quality, but green, automobiles to the American public - our tax money that was used to bail them out from their past failures will soon be as far gone as the previous good GM brand name.

Title: GM Goes Green Next?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Michael Jackson Secret Burial

At least for the time being, the family of Michael Jackson is keeping the location where his body was buried a secret. I think that makes perfect sense because human nature being what it is, there would most certainly be people with less than honorable motives that would show up and try to steal the body of Michael Jackson. After more than a week of memorials and tributes to the late Michael Jackson, the time has come to let his family get about the business of grieving his death and over time getting on with the rest of their lives.

Any time a famous person like Michael Jackson dies, there is always a possibility that grave robbers will try and steal the body. Why on Earth someone would want to steal the body of someone famous like Michael Jackson is something I do not understand, but I believe there are people that would try if they knew where Michael was buried. So, it makes perfect sense to me that the family of Michael Jackson would decided to have a secret burial for his body. It's already turning out that Michael's music is more valuable after his death than just a few weeks ago when he was still alive.

For me and others I believe we have received another wake up call about what is really important in life. At the top of that list is not being rich and famous because just look at the last few years of Michael Jackson life and see the problems all that fame and money had on his happiness and most certainly they also contributed to his early demise. Then, even in death - Michael Jackson's final resting place must be a closely guarded secret because someone/somewhere might actually try to dig him up and steal his body.

Michael Jackson thrived on public attention for most of his life and in the end it was public attention that most likely caused him to abuse drugs and die an early death at the age of 50. It's bad enough that a superstar like Michael Jackson was forced to remain a hermit because of the fear that some fans might get out of control if he travel in public without security - but it's something else to be so famous that his family must keep secret his burial location out of a real fear that some crazy person or group might dig up and steal his body.

Title: Michael Jackson Secret Burial
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

GAO Bombs Federal Buildings?

It was learned today that on several occasions, undercover investigators for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) were able to sneak in bomb parts to secure federal buildings and then assemble those parts in a restroom. While I am concerned that GAO undercover officials were able to sneak in bomb parts to federal buildings, I am more concerned that this government agency felt it necessary to release that information to the public - which most certainly includes terrorist that want to do us harm.

The GAO is the investigative arm of the U.S. Congress and our elected leaders there should be a shamed of themselves for allowing a federal government agency that is under their control to release information that will put the United States in further danger from terrorist organizations. I believe that some kind of political publicity stunt is involved in today's release of this damaging information and I would love to know which Members of Congress knew it was going to be released, but said and did nothing about it. Let's all remember that the GAO is under the total control of Congress and does not answer to President Obama.

I know many of you are thinking that I must have lost my mind because you believe that the public has the right to know everything that goes on inside of government. While I too believe in open government, the actions of the GAO today by not only admitting that it is easy to sneak in bomb parts and then assemble them inside of government buildings, they also released an undercover video that shows them doing just that. This smart by half move by the GAO most certainly has put American citizens in more danger from future terrorist attacks.

When one government agency, like the GAO, discovers a huge breach in U.S. national security - they should work with other government agencies through their boss the Congress to fix the problem. Instead, once again we are witnessing one government agency working against another one in order to score political points. The sad fact is, that politics in Washington D.C. has gone from a softball sport to all out warfare in recent years. In the end, the people that could be hurt the most are the employees the work in federal building and the millions of American citizen that visit them each year. The GAO and the U.S. Congress should be scorned for allowing this information to be passed along to our enemies simply because of politics.

Title: GAO Bombs Federal Buildings?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Paris Jackson Memorial Comments

At the end of the Michael Jackson memorial service in LA yesterday, one of his children (Paris Jackson) went to the microphone and utter a few short words about her father. In the minutes that followed, I can only image the tons of tears that must have flowed around the world after Paris Jackson summed up her personal feelings about her dad. In words that will go down in history, Paris Jackson said - "I just wanted to say, ever since I was born Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much." While I missed those few, but powerful words on television today - I watched Paris speak them a few minutes ago on the Internet.

What a beautiful young lady Paris Jackson is and today she proved that it is not as important how many words are used in tribute to someone like her dad Michael Jackson, but what is most important is that those words are honest and straight from the heart. It appeared to me that it was planned that Paris Jackson would speak at Michael Jackson's memorial yesterday, but I also think that her family let her wait until the last minute so she could gracefully back out if she was not up to making her comments. Some people call me a crusty old man, but when Paris Jackson spoke at the end of her dad Michael's memorial service yesterday - I found myself looking for Kleenex to dry my eyes.

Tonight while my wife and I were watching a recap of the events yesterday at Michael Jackson's memorial service on television, the first thing we both said at basically the same time was that Michael's family did one heck of a good job planning and carrying out today's memorial. The few parts of yesterday's Michael Jackson memorial from LA that I saw live were very touching and a great tribute to Michael the singer, entertainer and dancer. Then when Usher sang the Michael Jackson song "Gone Too Song", which was written in tribute to the late Ryan White and then the memorial service was concluded with those heart breaking few words from Paris Jackson - I knew that Michael Jackson was probably smiling down from on high at all the attention he was receiving even after his death.

In my mind it was fitting that Paris Jackson was a standout at her dads memorial service yesterday, because there was nothing on this Earth that Michael Jackson loved more than children and most certainly his own three children were a very important part of his life. Even if the comments by Paris Jackson at the end of her dad Michael Jackson's memorial service yesterday were scripted, I say - so what? I have no doubt that Paris loved her dad Michael Jackson and it does not matter if her words were planned or not. In closing I would just like to say that yesterday's Michael Jackson memorial service was one of the best I have ever seen in person or on live television.

Title: Paris Jackson Memorial Comments
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Michael Jackson Memorial Ratings

While it will likely be late tomorrow afternoon before TV ratings for the Michael Jackson memorial will be release, most certainly more people will have watched his memorial service from the LA Staples Center than any other television event this year. In fact, I am going to go out on a limb and predict that the ratings for today's Michael Jackson memorial service will surpass even those of the annual Superbowl game that usually draws in excess of 100 million television viewers to each years big game. This morning as Michael Jackson's memorial service was beginning, I used my remote control and found live coverage of the service available on six different national TV networks.

From news reports, dozens of countries around the world also offered live television coverage of Michael Jackson's memorial service today. From Asia to Europe to Africa - millions of people from around the world stopped what they were doing and watched a person they had learned to love over the years receive his final honor. When the TV ratings for the Michael Jackson memorial service are released in the U.S. tomorrow, there will be a better idea of what kind of TV rating his memorial service garnered from other nations worldwide.

All the major broadcast television networks (CBS, NBC & ABC) covered the Michael Jackson memorial service live from coast to coast today. Also, major cable new channels (CNN, MSNBC & Fox News) also offer live coverage of today's Michael Jackson memorial without commercial interruption. It's too bad that there is no way to really know for sure how many people watched today's memorial via the Internet, because there were likely hundreds of channels of live streaming going on at the same time as the television coverage.

It usually takes the death of a sitting President of the United States or a major catastrophe like the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 to cause all of the major television news media to stop their regular programming and focus on one single story. Now we know of one other major event that will cause all broadcast and cable television networks to stop what they were doing and all follow a single story and that event is the death of Michael Jackson. Don't be surprise if when the TV ratings for the Michael Jackson memorial service are released tomorrow - that somewhere between 100 and 125 million people watched at least part of that moving and very emotion farewell to the "King of Pop".

Title: Michael Jackson Memorial Ratings
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Michael Jackson Final Goodbye

In Los Angeles today, tens of thousands of Michael Jackson fans showed up to say their final goodbye to the "King of Pop". The lucky ones were in the Staples Center, while the rest lined the streets around the location where the only family attended Michael Jackson public memorial service was held. To say that Michael Jackson was loved by millions of fans worldwide would be an understatement. Today's Michael Jackson memorial service was shown on national TV in the United States by all three of the major broadcast television networks as well as on the big three cable news channels and that's just in the United States.

Around the world, hundreds of millions of people watched the public memorial service for Michael Jackson today as well. In memory of Michael Jackson, I will stick to the positive aspects of his personality on this day when hundreds of millions of fans are saying their final goodbye to Michael Jackson. There will be time in the future to discuss the many personal issues that tortured Michael, in private, on the inside at some future date. Many people that I expected to attend Michael Jackson public memorial service today did not show up for various reasons and to me I think it was a shame that Diana Ross and Elizabeth Taylor did not attend.

Over the days since it was first announced that Michael Jackson had died, I have been thinking back to all the songs he has preformed over his career. From the time when Michael Jackson was just a young boy until the 1980's when his career went into superstar overdrive, Michael brought happiness to men and women around the world with his amazing voice. In addition to his God given singing talent, Michael Jackson was one of the best dancers to ever walk on a stage. From his classic 'moonwalk' moves to other dance techniques that seemed impossible for a human being to accomplish - Michael had the talent to weave his way into the hearts of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Back in the early 1990's, Michael Jackson wrote a song called "Gone Too Soon" in honor of a young man named Ryan White who died from AIDS. I have learned that in the years since Michael Jackson wrote the song "Gone Too Soon", thousands of families decided to use that powerful song as a tribute to their own loved ones as well. At the end of his life, I'm sure Michael Jackson had no idea how much public affection would be directed his way when he died. In the future when historians write about this day when hundreds of millions of people worldwide said their final goodbye to Michael Jackson, future citizens of this world might be scratching their heads at the amount of public grief that was expressed for this one man. However, for those of us that grew to know Michael Jackson through his music and dance for decades - we will know exactly what all the fuss was about.

Title: Michael Jackson Final Goodbye
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Casey Anthony Murder Trial

It's difficult for me to imagine that the Casey Anthony trial this fall will be anything short of a circus atmosphere. In recent months, I have not written that much about Casey Anthony because it has appeared to me that the case against her is pretty much open and shut. All that has happened recently in the motions the have been filed, leading up to the Casey Anthony trial, has pretty much been showmanship with her lead attorney Jose Baez leading the charge. There is just something very distasteful to me in not only the behavior of Casey Anthony, but also in the way her defense team has acted since she was arrested.

In previous posts I have talked about the narcissistic and sociopath aspects of the personality of Casey Anthony. All anyone needs to really do is listen to the way Casey Anthony talked about her daughter Caylee on those jailhouse video tapes to learn that it is not only possible that she killed her daughter, but that it is also likely that she premeditated that act so that her crazy and wild lifestyle would not be interrupted by the real life obligations of raising a little girl. While I believe Casey Anthony is a very selfish person, when her murder trial gets underway this fall - I believe everyone around the world will also see that her immediate family is also certifiable.

Poor Caylee Anthony never really had a chance with a mom like Casey Anthony. When the Casey Anthony trial (circus) gets underway this fall - almost everyone with a television is going to see just how selfish and underhanded Casey Anthony really is. When Casey Anthony was first arrested, I remember thinking to myself how in the world any mother or for that matter any human being could cause harm to a two year old child? Then I thought back into my crevices of my mind and I remember reading other stories of child murder that are similar to those of alleged child killer Casey Anthony.

My only hope is that if it is proven at trial that Casey Anthony did murder her daughter Caylee, that she spends the rest of her life in prison for that crime. While the State of Florida has put the death penalty back on the table in the upcoming trial of Casey Anthony, I have serious reservation that a jury will sentence her to death. While it might seem cruel to some, my personal opinion is that is would be a worse punishment for Casey Anthony to receive life without parole than to be sentenced to death. The idea of having Casey Anthony sitting in jail until a ripe old age is more appealing to me than her suffering a human death in a State of Florida death chamber.

Title: Casey Anthony Murder Trial
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Debbie Rowe Bad Parent?

I guess a friend of Debbie Rowe might chalk up her outrageous language toward members of the paparazzi this week as just someone having a bad day, but when I saw and heard Debbie Rowe using the "F" word towards a reporter on television this morning - the first thing that popped into my mind was, "so long getting custody of your kids". When I first heard that Debbie Rowe wanted to gain custody of her children after Michael Jackson's death - at first I figured she would have a good case since she is the birth mother of two of them. However, after she got herself caught on tape cursing and acting like a fool this weekend, all bets are now off when it comes to a judge granting her full custody of her children.

I'm fond of saying that sometimes the right thing ends up working out even when some people work the system hard for a different result. It could very well be that Debbie Rowe is a bad parent and the only reason she wants to gain custody of her children back is for her own selfish financial reasons. Michael Jackson went out of his way to make sure that Debbie Rowe received no money when he wrote the last will we know of back in 2002. In that document, Jackson listed Debbie Rowe by name when he said that she should receive absolutely nothing from his estate. It's impossible to know what Michael Jackson was thinking when he said that he wanted Debbie Rowe to receive no money, but at the top of my list would have to be the two words, "Gold digger".

Now Debbie Rowe in lining back up at the Michael Jackson free money machine for another payoff. I believe that since Debbie Rowe knows she will receive no money from the Michael Jackson estate, her best chance to obtain a financial windfall is to regain custody of her two children with Michael Jackson and then work a family court judge for millions of dollars in child support. Unless some judge without a brain gets this case, I cannot image him or her giving custody of the children back to Debbie Rowe, especially after seeing her demeanor in public this past weekend.

While I do have concerns with the 80 year old mother of Michael Jackson, Katherine, having the strength and energy to raise three young children - I also have no doubt that she would be a better caregiver for Michael Jackson's kids than their biological mother Debbie Rowe. Let's face it - Micheal Jackson's kids were not raised, so far, like other kids their own age and who better to help raise them to adulthood than Michael Jackson's own mother. While Katherine Jackson is nearing the age of 80, I have no doubt that she would spend the money necessary to hire the right kind of help in raising her grandchildren and she should at least be giving an opportunity to try.

Title: Debbie Rowe Bad Parent?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

SC Serial Killer Search

In a rural area of South Carolina, residents are in fear and arming themselves with firearms after police recently announced that there was a serial killer prowling that area. Over a short period of time, five people have been killed in Cherokee County South Carolina and a spokesman for the local Sheriff's Office said over the weekend that all five of these separate killings have been linked together by the available evidence.

While police continue to search for this alleged serial killer, my guess is that the citizens of Cherokee County South Carolina will most likely find and take care of this serial killer before the police catch him. There is a reason why serial killers normally do not prey on rural areas and that is because most residents that live outside of a major city are armed and know how to use firearms for the protection of their family. In addition to rural residents being well armed for self protection - they also know immediately when a person shows up that is not a resident of that area.

A composite sketch of a suspect of interest in these five related murders in Cherokee County South Carolina has been released to the news media. More than likely, the the man portrayed in that composite sketch is long gone from Cherokee County, which is both good and bad news for police that are still searching for him. Unfortunately, serial killers don't usually just stop killing because law enforcement is closing in on them. Instead, this person has probably moved on to another area of the country to continue his killing spree.

Over the years, all areas have unfortunately found serial killers in their midst and it is not unusual for there to be dozens of people murdered before police finally catch them. One piece of advice I would like to share with all of you is this; from my experience - serial killers do not look outwardly evil. So, rather than focusing on someone who looks the part of an evil killer - instead it is the person that you would never suspect that usually turns out to be a serial killer, so to remain safe - please don't judge a book by it's cover.

Title: SC Serial Killer Search
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report

Sarah Palin Next Move?

Now that Sarah Palin has made it official that she is stepping down as the Governor of Alaska at the end of July, what's next for this GOP firebrand that earned tremendous national appeal as John McCain's VP pick during the 2008 presidential election. In my view, Sarah Palin is a much stronger presidential candidate for the GOP than John McCain was, but with Sarah Palin's strengths come a bunch of weaknesses as well. Sarah Palin's two strongest benefits as a future GOP candidate for President include her appealing appearance and vocal qualities - plus she is just as conservative as former President George W. Bush.

Sadly or fortunately depending on your political point of view, the fact that Sarah Palin is easy on the eyes and is a rock solid conservative are also her biggest draw backs as a possible GOP contender for President in 2012 as well. After the election of Barack Obama as President in 2008, it was clear that the masses that make up the U.S. electroate had changed from a center right point of view to somewhat more center left. Of course, the winds of change are always up for grabs in the United States - but most of time time those changes do not come dramatic until the end of the second term of a sitting President.

So, what's next for Sarah Palin? As I suggested in a post a couple of days ago - I believe Sarah Palin is a chess player, which means that she is thinking two or three moves ahead of everyone else that is currently following politics. If I'm right, Sarah Palin's next move will involve relocating her family to one of the lower 48 states that has a big population and a larger electoral college representation than Alaska. As I suggested the other day, I believe that if Sarah Palin does relocate her family to one of the lower 48 states - more than likely she will move to the State of Florida, which always is in play during presidential elections every four years.

Right now, it seems unlikely that Sarah Palin could unseat President Obama when he seeks another four years as the U.S. President in 2012. However, three and one half years in politics is a very long time and even though President Obama seems to be in firm control of the White House right now - all things political are subject to change in very short order. If at the end of three years, the American people are dissatisfied with the leadership of President Obama, someone like Sarah Palin could be in a great position to take advantage of that voter unrest. Most American voters look to outsiders during periods of change and with Sarah Palin being a private citizen in 2012 - you can't get much more outsider than that.

Title: Sarah Palin Next Move?
Forum | Twitter | Chat | Stats | Privacy Policy | Blogged | Catalog
RSS | Atom | Feedburner | Feedback | Subscribe | Hutch Report
