Renal Hypertension Treatment

What Are The Renal Arteries ?

Renal refers to anything related to the kidneys. Renal arteries carry blood from the heart to the kidneys. They branch directly from the aorta (the main artery coming off the heart) on either side and extend to each kidney. These arteries take a very large volume of blood to the kidneys to be filtered.

The heart pumps out approximately 5 liters of blood per minute, and about 1-1.5 liters (25%) of the total volume of blood pumped by the heart passes through the kidneys every minute.

What Is Renal Artery Stenosis ?

Renal artery stenosis (narrowing) is a decrease in the diameter of the renal arteries. The resulting restriction of blood flow to the kidneys may lead to impaired kidney function (renal failure) and high blood pressure (hypertension), referred to as renovascular hypertension, or RVHT (“reno” for kidney and “vascular” for blood vessel). Renal artery stenosis is a major cause of RVHT and accounts for 1%-10% of the 50 million cases of hypertension in the United States…

Causes

When the arteries that carry blood to your kidneys become narrow, less blood flows to the kidneys. The kidneys mistakenly respond as if your blood pressure is low and give off hormones that tell the body to hold on to more salt and water. This causes your blood pressure to rise…

Symptoms and Signs

Renovascular hypertension is usually asymptomatic. A systolic-diastolic bruit in the epigastrium, usually transmitted to one or both upper quadrants and sometimes to the back, is almost pathognomonic, but it is present in only about 50% of patients with fibromuscular dysplasia and is rare in patients with renal atherosclerosis…

Treatment

High blood pressure caused by narrowing of the arteries that lead to the kidneys (renovascular hypertension) is often difficult to control.

Medications may be used to help control blood pressure. There are a variety of high blood pressure medications available. You and your doctor will decide which type is best for you….

Renal Hypertension Treatment In India

Renovascular hypertension is high blood pressure due to narrowing of the arteries that carry blood to the kidneys. It is a form of secondary hypertension.

Alternative Names : -

Renal hypertension; Hypertension – renovascular

Hypertensive kidney

The kidneys filter wastes and excrete fluid when the pressure of blood in the bloodstream forces blood through the internal structures of the kidney.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

When the kidney arteries become narrow, less blood flows to the kidneys. The kidneys mistakenly respond as if your blood pressure is low and give off hormones that tell the body to retain salt and water. This causes your blood pressure to rise.

Many different diseases can cause narrowing of the renal arteries. Hardening of the arteries from high cholesterol is one of the most common. Most patients have the typical risk factors for atherosclerosis, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

Symptoms

Usually, high blood pressure causes no symptoms. Occasionally you may have a mild headache. If your headache is severe, or if you have any of the symptoms below, see a doctor right away. These may be a sign of malignant hypertension.

Blood in urine Confusion Crushing, angina-like chest pain Ear noise or buzzing Irregular heartbeat Nosebleed Tiredness Vision changes

Treatment

Renovascular hypertension is often difficult to treat.
Medications may be used to help control blood pressure. There are a variety of high blood pressure medications available. You and your doctor will decide which type is best for you.

Everyone responds to medicine differently. Your blood pressure should be checked frequently. The amount and type of medicine you take may need to be changed from time to time.

Further treatment depends on what causes the narrowing of the kidney arteries. In some cases, surgery to reconstruct the damaged artery may be done. Persons with renal artery stenosis may have a stent placed in the artery to hold it open…….

There is a growing interest nowadays in using natural remedies for ailments and various diseases, including high blood pressure (hypertension). The reason for this growing awareness is mainly down to the negative side effects associated with the drugs and hypertension medicine prescribed and the mere fact that we are not getting any better, instead it feels that we are getting worse.

Discover How To Lower Blood Pressure Naturally Without Using Ace Inhibitors, Alpha-blockers, Diuretics or Beta-blockers (Click Here).

The best hypertension treatment is the treatment that doesn’t cause you the side effects of the meds – the fatigue, the light headedness, the frequent urination, the blurry vision and even the short or mini stroke. Whilst drugs can control your blood pressure it doesn’t actually cure it.

If you find that medication is beginning to dictate your life then it is time to research and investigate other more natural methods to treat hypertension and in some cases to prevent hypertension. The good news is that there are natural treatments that can treat hypertension even severe hypertension.

Natural Hypertension Treatment

You can start by objectively looking at your diet – we all know too much salt is not good for us and yet we eat six times the required salt intake (that’s whooping 6 teaspoonfuls of salt a day!), by not eating the right fruit and veg. we leave behind natural curing medicine that can practically save our lives. We indulge in highly saturated fats and continue to eat food with very little nutritional value either out of habit or lack of knowledge.

Exercising should be a daily task – because with just half an hour a day of fast walking for example is proven to be one of the fastest ways to lower your blood pressure.

Stress is major cause of high blood pressure – can’t stress enough how important stress management is to your blood pressure. If you learn to manage this right – together with the correct foods and regular exercise you can quickly lower your blood pressure by 20 points after just a couple of weeks.

Flavonoids have also been shown to reduce blood pressure levels. These compounds can be found in dark chocolate, citrus fruits, tea and even red wine. Individuals with hypertension should also consume foods rich in omega-3s. These fatty-acids can be found in fish, nuts, fruits, vegetables and cereals.

Listening to calming music can also help individuals with hypertension. Learning how to manage time effectively and organize clutter can also treat hypertension by controlling stress levels.

Go To Hypertension Treatment if you are concerned about your high blood pressure and want to find a natural method to reduce the serious causes from hypertension including early death.

Article by Parthasarathy Rengaswami

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension, also called high blood pressure, is caused by the pressure due to excessive pumping of the heart..It is one of the leading causes of death in the world today. In addition to being a deadly condition, hypertension can also cause damage to vital organs like the liver, brains, kidneys and the heart. Unfortunately, people suffering from hypertension may not even be aware of that condition till it becomes too serious a problem. Blood pressure measure always has two readings, one taken when the heart is beating and the other when the heart is at rest. The normal values for these two readings are 140 and 90 respectively.

Causes of Hypertension:There are two types of hypertension. One occurs due to the increase in the pressure of the heart while beating., mostly due to old age. This type of hypertension called essential hypertension or primary hypertension. This condition can be controlled with the proper precautions, and many people with essential hypertension may live for eighty years or more. The other called Malignant hypertension occurs due to the disorders of any of the vital organs, such as the brain, the liver and the kidneys. Hormonal imbalances can also cause hypertension in some cases. These are very fatal and need to remedied urgently. Malignant Hypertension is also called Secondary Hypertension

Hypertension Symptoms:Some of the common symptoms of hypertension are:• Giddiness, Dizziness and a Feeling of Instability.• Palpitations.• Insomnia (inability to sleep well).• Digestive problems and Constipation.

Treatment of Hypertension:

Hypertension, like any other physical disorder needs to be treated by a physician. Yet, hypertension, not being a disease but only a condition can be controlled through diet, exercise and adjustment of lifestyle. There are several claims about “cures” for hypertension through use of herbal medicines and other remedies. I do not like to go into the merits of these claims.

But there is a simple method which does not involve use of any drugs or remedies. This technique called Slow Breathing can bring down your blood pressure quickly and almost effortlessly. This method has medical recognition – FDA approved, easy to use and practicable by all. This method has been used and endorsed by such institutions of repute as the Harvard Medical School, The Mayo Clinic, Rush-Presbyterian Hospital and the American Heart Association.Studies published in the Journal of Human Hypertension and numerous other respected medical journals reveal that:

Breathing slowly and deeply (less than 10 breaths per minute) for 10 to 15 minutes a day while extending exhalation results in significant reductions in blood pressure. That’s because gentle, slow breathing acts like a natural safety valve to relax muscle tension, especially in the chest area, allowing constricted blood vessels to open and relieve pressure on the heart.

It literally takes a load off your chest!

Primary pulmonary hypertension, a rare and life – threatening disease that increases blood pressure in the lungs and damages heart valves, can be treated through a variety of methods, including lifestyle changes, medication, and lung and heart transplants. It often results from the use of diet drugs such as Fen – phen. Unfortunately, this illness is not yet curable and has a poor prognosis.

Primary pulmonary hypertension symptoms subsume enervate, difficulty in live, dizziness, fainting, swelling in the ankles or legs, depressed discoloration of the lips, and chest woe. Fortunately, some medications, such as anticoagulants, can benefit dominion the symptoms of the disease and better the superiority of life for those who are unfavorable eclipse PPH.

Anticoagulants elbow grease in the body by preventing the coagulation of blood. The drugs can either prohibit inexperienced clots from forming or an existing band from upping in size. Anticoagulants perk not dissolve clots nowadays in existence. By reducing blood coagulation, this type of medication lessens the strain on the heart from primary pulmonary hypertension, moulding it easier to pump blood through the pulmonary artery. Several studies peeled that understanding survival percentage is major when treatment adumbrate anticoagulants occurs.

Two informal illustration of anticoagulants used today introduce Heparin and Warfarin. Heparin is a biological substance derived from the belly of pigs. It works by electric antithrombin III which stops thrombin from clotting blood. Warfarin, the most commonly used anticoagulant in the United States, works by inhibiting the vitamin K dependant consonance of active forms of separate calcium clotting factors. Dosage of these drugs is lily-livered over they frequently interact smuggle many commonly prescribed medications. Even diets high in vitamin K will change the effects of Warfarin, making the drug less efficient. Side effects of anticoagulants such as Warfarin include hemorrhages, Warfarin necrosis, osteoporosis, and purple toe syndrome.

In addition to anti – clotting medication, other drugs can be used to ease the symptoms of PPH. Calcium channel blockers and vasodilators are sometimes used in the treatment of primary pulmonary hypertension. Calcium channel blockers work by triggering the vascular smooth muscles in the lungs to open, easing pulmonary artery pressure. Vasodilators, such as Flonan and Tracleer, work by activating a reaction in the endothelium cells, which lowers pressure and strain.

Primary pulmonary hypertension is a serious and complicated disease. Modern medication, such as anticoagulants, can help ease the symptoms of the illness. Unfortunately, with no available cure, medication can only help patients control the negative side effects.

Hypertension is derived from two root words; Hyper meaning High and Tension meaning Pressure. Hypertension simply means high blood pressure. Pressure is the force generated when the heart contracts and pump blood through the blood vessels that conduct the blood to various parts of the blood.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is called the silent killer because it does not give symptoms or warning before it strikes. Hypertension is not just one disease or diagnosis, look at hypertension as a sign of poor picture of overall health. Remember that blood pressure is one of the vital signs we measure as a gauge to your your overall health (other vital signs are pulse, temperature and respiration). A sign like elevated blood pressure is not the disease; it points to the disease of inflammation going on in the body.

There are a number of problems with blood pressure (BP) reducing medications however. They do not cure the cause of high blood pressure but merely lower it while the drugs remain in your system. This means that people usually have to take medications daily for the rest of their lives in order to keep their blood pressure at an acceptable level.

natural hypertension remedies :

- Exercising

- Proper dieting

- Stress management

The other problem with hypertension medications (other than the cost) is a range of undesirable side effects such as:a persistent dry cough, headache, pounding heartbeat, nausea, weight gain, reduced libido, depression, insomnia, shortness of breath, sinus congestion… the list could go on.

There are two major types of hypertension: Essential or primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension is the most common condition, found in 95 per cent of the cases. It has no definite cause. There are several factors that may act in combination, causing the blood pressure to increase. Secondary hypertension is found in five to ten per cent the cases. Here, the increase in blood pressure is caused by a specific defect in one of the organs in the body. Treating the affected organ can control or cure the hypertension.

Treatment varies according to the stage of the disease. Hypertension is controllable with treatment, which may require periodic adjustment. The treatment is often associated with weight loss and increased exercise, but a doctor should be consulted even in cases of pre-hypertension. Hypertension is a very serious condition and should be taken seriously by both patient and doctor.

Being in a hypertension condition is not permanent; and it could not be severe enough to cause symptoms. Symptoms only surface when signs of end-organ damage are determined or are possible; otherwise, the condition is still considered accelerated hypertension. Malignant hypertension, on the other hand, is caused by increased intracranial pressure. These could be diagnosed through retinal examination.

Causes of Hypertension

- An increased tension in the blood vessel walls.

- An increased blood volume caused by elevated levels of salt and lipids in the blood holding back water.

- Hardened and inelastic blood vessels caused by arteriosclerosis.

Hypertension Symptoms:
Some of the common symptoms of hypertension are:
• Giddiness, Dizziness and a Feeling of Instability.
• Palpitations.
• Insomnia (inability to sleep well).
• Digestive problems and Constipation.

To get rid of hypertension you should know the categories of blood pressure readings. Hypertension is a medical condition when the blood pressure is elevated or the blood travel through your arteries at a higher pressure than normal. The normal blood pressure is 120/80 mm Hg or lower, when your blood pressure is 140/90 mm Hg or higher you have a hypertension.

Because of these problems a lot of people have been looking into how to reduce blood pressure naturally without the use of medications. Thankfully there are indeed ways to reduce high blood pressure naturally through diet and exercise.

Knowing what causes high blood pressure is important, as hypertension is a factor in heart attacks and heart disease. Given that heart disease accounted for 30% of deaths Worldwide in 2008 (source the World Health Organization) it is important that we know this information if we are not to be part of that statistic.

If you or one of your loved ones is suffering from this condition keep reading this article because here I will write about how to drop your blood pressure in a few weeks and improve your life quality. The most common causes for Hypertension are an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, combine this two and your chances to suffer from this condition increase a lot.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is described as the force the heart must use to pump blood through the arteries and veins. Your systolic pressure represents the force on the arteries, while the diastolic pressure is the pressure in the vessels between beats. Normal blood pressure runs around 120/80.

In primary hypertension, symptoms of high blood pressure are rarely noticeable. When symptoms do exist, however, they are mild and nonspecific. Hence the name, ‘silent killer’. Hypertensive crisis occurs when blood pressure suddenly escalates and can progress to complications such as, stroke or heart attack, that can be fatal.

People who have high blood pressure complain of headaches, shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue. Headache is a common complaint and is not remedied after taking high blood pressure medication. Head blood flow is increased, putting a strain on blood vessels in the brain. Headache caused by hypertension does not go away with over the counter pain medications. The pain pulsates behind the eyes and manifests during the morning hours. Increased blood circulation causes the heart to pump out more amount of blood than usual, causing heart palpitations, blurred vision, white spots or blindness.

Of the people who have high blood pressure, approximately 1% have what is known as malignant hypertension. This is considered a medical emergency and needs immediate care to prevent heart attack or stroke. Hypertension may go untreated for years because the person may not even know they have high blood pressure. This can result in damage to the heart, eyes or kidneys, as well as lead to angina pain. To avoid any complications of high blood pressure is to prevent or control it with the help of your doctor and a health diet consisting of fresh vegetables, fruits, wholegrain and low-fat dairy products.

If you are a person who is exposed to much stress, this must also be controlled. Some hypertension is caused by stress, and this is never good for anyone. Too much of it will have an adverse effect on your health whether or not you have high blood pressure. It just makes sense to cut anything or anyone out of your life who causes undo stress to your health, accept for your children. That is stress you just have to live with and manage some how. They are yours for 18 years. Maybe you have a relative who has a farm…save yourself and send them there…just kidding.

If you are overweight it would be to your good benefit to lose the extra pounds and maintain a health body weight. It is also a good idea to control unhealthy habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol. This will help to lower and maintain proper blood pressure, to prevent its life-threatening complications that could have far reaching consequences.

Several factors influence hypertension, however it must be fully understood that these factors change from person to person. Some people inherit high blood pressure genetically whereas others develop it from an unhealthy diet and weight gain. These hypertension causes are important to understand how they apply to each patient concerned about their blood pressure. Here are 6 main causes of hypertension found amongst most sufferers of the disease.

· Obesity. Chronic weight gain increases the chance of developing high blood pressure by 500%. A massive 2/3 of the cases of hypertension can be attributed to obesity. It is a serious health issue that is plaguing the developed countries of the world.

· Sodium Sensitivity. Sodium can increase the amount your cells release water inside your blood. This will increase blood pressure as your blood gets “thicker” or “heavier” in a sense.

· Genetics. In 30% of cases the patient has inherited the disease through their genes. This does NOT mean that the patient is untreatable, they can still practice long term lifestyle changes to combat the disease even if there are of normal health and weight.

· Drugs. Specific medications such as different forms of hormone enhancers and some anti-inflammatory drugs can play a large contribution to high blood pressure. It is up to the patient to seek medical advice concerning their drug therapy but some studies are debatable and results limited. However what I always advise people; is to stay away from using drugs if possible. Because you don’t 100% know the side affects that the specific drug will have on your body, thus to play it safe always try to seek out a more natural alternative.

So these hypertension causes are to be taken into account when planning your blood pressure management. Each cause is preventable and if you feel like you have tried everything don’t give up. There are numerous alternatives to just medicinal drugs, the easiest alternative is to be as healthy as you can be, being the right weight and eating healthy plus exercise is the first step to healthy blood pressure levels.

Hypertension Causes, Prevention and Treatment

Derrick Chambers of Daly City couldn’t believe it. Dr. Rhodes at the Daly City South Clinic broke the bad news. He had high blood pressure.

Derrick had a good excuse. After all, as an advertising executive in LTV, he certainly had his share of stress. And, let’s not even talk about the cigarette.

According to Dr. Rhodes just being male was a factor. The fact that he was 48 certainly didn’t help.

Unfortunately, high blood pressure rarely causes any symptoms until it has caused damage to the blood vessels and possibly a heart attack. In fact, arterial hypertension can be incredibly high before there are any symptoms.

Your blood pressure goes up and down throughout the day. If you ski a tough run your pressure will go up. Even if you just see a love scene on TV you will see a rise in your blood pressure.

If you took your pressure right after that, it would be high, but not diagnostic.

Things you eat, drink and smoke can also increase your pressure. Caffeine drinks like coffee orcola drinks will do the same. Nicotine from pipe tobacco stimulates the heart to increase your pressure as well.

You may think that alcohol relaxes you, but the long term effects of all those alcohol, cocktails, and liquers drinks take their toll as well.

Spending too much time in your favorite recliner instead of getting some exercise increases your chances of blood pressure problems.

Fortunately, there are many places you can get your blood pressure checked today. Many stores and pharmacies have automatic blood pressure machines you can use. Just sit down for a couple minutes and get it checked. If you pressure is up slightly three different times, you should see a doctor. If it is over about 160 just once, you should also seek medical advice.

Rest makes your pressure go down. Because of that, the best time to take your blood pressure is during a time of no stress.

But, back to Derrick. His family history made a big difference in his arterial hypertension. He had a father who died at age 53 of a arteriosclerotic heart disease. Genetics can really increase your chances of needing treatment for arterial hypertension.

Fortunately, these days, there is a lot you can do to decrease arterial hypertension.

Changing your diet will definitely help. You will improve your blood pressure as well as your overall health by increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables. You should get regular exercise, lots of water and a good night’s sleep. If you can stop using tobacco and limit or cut out your alcohol altogether that will help a great deal.

If you don’t completely normalize your blood pressure by those means, many different medications are available today that will help. You will want to find a physician that you can work with on keeping your pressure normal.

For patients wondering how they can decrease their blood pressure levels, it is necessary for them to draw up a guideline or plan for them to follow. This plan must be specific to their blood pressure readings, and encompass their unique traits in combating hypertension. The guideline should be whittled down to two major steps;

Exercise. Aerobic Exercise is important to consider when taking into account blood pressure levels. It is necessary to improve blood health and aortic circulation. This will lead to a healthier body being easier to maintain blood pressure levels. Try going jogging or playing a light sport such as squash, tennis or any sport that requires movement. This will greatly help your hypertension.

Eating a balanced diet with a varied range of proper foods. This diet must not include salt where possible as salt can hinder hypertension prevention. Fruits and vegetables like bananas and tomatoes are rich in potassium. This allows your body to increase resistance against high blood pressure.

With these two steps (though big lifestyle changes) can be effectively put into place to combat hypertension. Each is just as important as each other. Fast food is certainly meant to be stayed away from when the patient is combating hypertension, smoking and drinking fall into this category also. When the patient comes across the opportunity o consume an item they must ask themselves, “Is this healthy?” and if it is not stay away. But with a balanced diet of course fatty foods can be consumed just a small proportion very rarely. For more information on Preventing High Blood Pressure visit the link bellow.
