This a best tablet for 3D gaming and high definition movies. The Tegra Note features an all-plastic build, but its back panel has a rubberised finish that makes for decent grisp. Powered by Nvidia's chip, this tab shows no sign of lag while playing heavy 3D games like Real Racing 3 and Frontline Commando.

Its front facing stereo speakers, however are placed on the side of its touchscreen and holding the tablet horizontally blocks these and muffles its sound.

This tab comes with micro-HDMI port, which works well for when you want to watch a movie on a large display. The Tegra Note's display looks bright, but its colours are rather subdued.

Its marker-type stylus is responsive and even pressure sensitive. Unlike the well-supported S pen in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, this tab comes with just two apps for drawing and writing.

A tablet best for those who need budget 8-incher. This Intel Atom-powered slate sports a sturdy build and a rubberised back for much-needed grisp.

Its HD display is bright and is capable of natural colours, but readibility, takes a dip in sunlight. Also-despite its high rescredentials-its images dont look sharp. This however, is more of norm in tabs priced under Rs.20k.

Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Dual to be lauched soon in India

Sony may soon launch Xperia M2 and M2 Dual smartphones in India. The company already revealed these phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) last month.

Saholic, an Indian e-retailer has listed these phones as coming soon. This very Xperia M2 shall be coming in two versions- one powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 quad-core processor and Adreno 305 GPU, while other powered by the Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 mobile chipset with Adreno 305 GPU graphics.

The only difference between these two processors is that the new Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 will offer support 4G LTE network support. However, it is not known still as to which version shall be launched in India.

The smartphone sports a 4.8-inch LCD display with 960x540 pixel resolution and 10 point multitouch support. Both the variants support Android 4.2 Jelly Bean MR2 and pack 1 GB of RAM. It is decked with a 2300 mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia M2 features an 8 MP camera at rear with Exmor RS for mobile image sensor. The camera is equipped with Autoscene Recognition and HDR imaging modes, also supports third party app integration for using other apps such as Vine.

The new Sony Xperia M2 will be available in purple, white and black colour variants.

India's costliest tablet from Samsung

Samsung introduced Galaxy Note Pro tablet, priced at an MRP Rs.65,575/-, which becomes the most expensive Android tablet in India. However, the 128 GB variant of Apple iPad Air stays the costliest tablet in the market with an MRP of Rs. 65,900/-.

The South Korean manufacturer's first professional-style tablet, the Galaxy Note Pro was revealed at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this January. A free cover worth Rs. 3,799/- is offered by the company with the device.

The new Galaxy Note Pro sports a 12.2-inch Super LCD screen with 2560x1600 pixel resolution and comes with the S Pen stylus. The company has used its new Magazine UX software on top of Android 4.4 operating in this tablet; the new custom skin displays live information from apps in a tile layout similar to that of Windows 8.

This new tablet is powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core processor and is decked with 3 GB of RAM. The device comes with 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 64 GB via microSD card. It supports 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 3.0 and infrared as connectivity options.

The Galaxy Note Pro features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and also hosts a 2MP camera in front. The device is decked by a 9,500mAh battery and is available in black and white colours with faux leather finish.

LG set to introduce L90 smartphone this week

A new smartphone LG L90 is suppossed to be introduced this week. This will be the largest device in the L series III lineup. It was announced ahead of the MWC 2014 last which held last month.

The smartphone is a lower end device which is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8226 processor also known as Snapdragon 400. It features a 4.7-inch IPS screen that offers qHD, 960 x 540 pixel resolution. The device has 1GB of RAM and 8GB as internal storage memory which is expandable via microSD card.

It supports Android 4.4 OS and hosts a 1.3 mega-pixel front camera with 8-mega-pixel on the rear. The smartphone will be available in selected markets across the globe this week in black and white colours.

Start-up company Vizify acquired by Yahoo

Vizify-a social media data visualiser start-up has been acquired by Yahoo. Vizify lets people create interative visualizations based on data involving what they share online.

As reported by Cnet,Vizify will be shutting down as, its team shall join Yahoo. The start-up has already started showing its sky-blue logo turned to Yahoo's purple.

It becomes Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer's 37th acquisition. The buyout amount is however undisclosed.

No more Log-ins from Google, Facebook ID's in Yahoo

According to the report by the Reuters, Yahoo to soon discard the options for users to sign in with Google or Facebook ID's. This gradual roll out will affect services like Flickr and Fantasy Sports.

Although Yahoo did not comment on this, but clicking on the "sign in with Google" option this morning produced a message stating "The Google ID you entered is not associated with a Yahoo account. To continue, you now need to create a Yahoo account." Yahoo offered users the chance to grab their 'dream' Yahoo ID they have always wanted. Like if your desired username is not available, you can pay $1.99 to monitor up to 5 usernames for a period of 3 years.

Yahoo recently tried to boost interest in its services from rebuilding Yahoo Mail and Flickr to presenting a well-received weather app. But regardless of this Yahoo misses the 'cool' factor, a Gmail account encompasses, which becomes a struggle point for it.

Google has all its services - YouTube, Gmail, Google+, Google Drive, etc. linked into one Google Account that can be used across the web. But an ID from another service cannot be used to sign-in to Google, which locks one into the Google's ecosystem. Yahoo is also now on the same track, that may be the reason behind its move to discard Google and Facebook log-ins.

Hewlett Packard (HP) delivers mega ‘voice tablets’ in India

HP today declared a new line of “voice tablets” with 6-inch and 7-inch display screens in India. The firm plans to introduce these devices in coming February.

These devices will be marking HP's return to the smartphone market after it slashed out the customer device world in 2011. The Company then bounced back into the tablet market, but chief executive Meg Whitman had stated earlier in october 2012 that the company was taking its time on phone segment.

The new devices Slate6 VoiceTab and Slate7 Voice Tab are capable of displaying high-definition videos, take High Definition pictures with front- and rear-facing cameras and have front-facing speakers.

The major accent of this annoucement is the interest that manufacturers have shown in making phone-tablet hybrids to appeal the consumers.

Ron Coughlin the senior vice president of Consumer Personal Systems Group for HP said that, “Consumers are looking to consolidate their phones and tablets, which is propelling the voice tablet market."

These phone-tablet hybrids, often referred as "Phablets", are rapidly gaining ground as people use their phones more for watching video and surfing the Web than making calls.

Samsung Galaxy S5 with iris-scanning and new Galaxy Gear smartwatch to come in April

Samsung's executive Vice President Lee Young-hee has declared that Samsung may introduce Galaxy S5 smartphone in April this year. He informed about the consideration of iris-scanning technology in the Galaxy S5 as an added security feature by company, with an aim to compete with Apple's iPhone.

In addition to this the VP stated about the Samsung's plans regarding the introduction of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch with advanced features and improved design along the S5 to boost sales.

Lee at CES 2014 said that,“We’ve been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time. When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved."

"Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology. We are studying the possibility", he added.

Selling one of every three smartphones globally, the technology giant Samsung is looking after market share against Apple's high end devices as well as Asia's budget devices. Following the rapid rise in wearable technology devices, Samsung is planning to introduce at least one more wearable device this year.

Lenovo introduces IdeaPad A10 notebook

Lenovo introduced its first Android based Notebook in India at an MRP of Rs. 19990/-.

It is a dual-mode Android based notebook, sporting a 10.1-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) 10-point multi-touch display. This amazing device hosts both laptop as well as stand mode and can be flipped to about 300 degrees. Employed with a 1.6GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, this notebook supports Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. It weighs about 1 Kg and assures battery life upto 10 hours with mixed usage.

Facebook deals with India based Little Eye Labs!

Global social networking giant, none other than Facebook, today took over a Bangalore (India) based Little Eye Labs company. This is the first take over by Facebook in India. This firm basically deals with building performance analysis and monitoring tools for mobile app developers.

The deal size has not been disclosed, however according to some reports it is pretended to be at the range of between USD 10-15 million.

The firm stated on its website that, "Today, we are very excited to announce that Facebook is acquiring our company. With this acquisition, Little Eye Labs will join forces with Facebook to take its mobile development to the next level. And this is Facebook's first acquisition of an Indian company and Little Eye is happy to become part of such an incredible team."

On the other hand, Facebook Engineering Manager Subbu Subramanian commented on this by saying, "I'm excited to announce that we're acquiring Little Eye Labs, a company that produces world-class technology to help developers build more efficient products with Android. This is an opportunity to welcome some of the industry's most talented engineers to our team in Menlo Park, California."

He also added that, "At Facebook, the focus continues to be on producing useful and engaging mobile apps, he added." Little Eye Labs technology will help us continue to improve Facebook's Android codebase to make more efficient, higher-performing apps."

Little Eye Labs was found about a year ago by four Bangalore-based technology professionals - Satyam Kandula, Kumar Rangarajan, Giridhar Murthy and Lakshman Kakkirala. The company is backed by GSF and VenturEast Tenet Fund.

According to the sources, the entire Little Eye Labs team shall be moving to Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, so as to grip Facebook's infrastructure and help improve performance of their apps.

Recently, Facebook attempted to buy instant messaging firm Snapchat, which reportedly turned down its USD 3 billion offer.

Samsung, at CES 2014 (Global Consumer Electronics and Consumer Technology Tradeshow) announced the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO line of tablets, thereby enhancing its tablet portfolio. The company has revealed four new tablets consisting the Galaxy TabPRO 12.2-inch, Galaxy TabPRO 10.1-inch, Galaxy TabPRO 8.4-inch and the Galaxy NotePRO (12.2-inch).

Samsung stated that these tablets will be available in Wi-Fi only, Wi-Fi and 3G, or Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity options. Also, in addition to this, the company unveiled that the 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO will come binned with an S Pen, while the 12.2-inch Galaxy TabPRO, Galaxy TabPRO 10.1-inch and 8.4-inch will come without the S Pen option.

The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO (12.2-inch) supports Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box. It accentuates a 12.2-inch WQXGA (2560x1600px) 'Super Clear' LCD screen display. The gadget employs Exynos 5 Octa processor for the Wi-Fi and 3G model, while the LTE variant employs a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset.

Decked with 3GB of RAM, this device includes 32GB and 64GB inbuilt storage variants, with a support of an additional 64GB expandable storage via microSD card. Apple set to introduce a 5.7-inch phablet this May: Reports

According to the claims by a Yahoo news (Japanese version) article, Apple is going to launch large-screen smartphones this year. The article stated about the launching of new series large sized iPhones with screen sizes around 5.7 inch or more. Thereby, bringing Apple in the league of large screen phablets segment.

Also, these largescreen iPhones will be a unlike series altogether, as 'iPhone 6' is rebuked for the september release.There is an expectation that these phablets will be powered by the current A7 chipset, employed in the iPhone 5S, spurning the rumoured A8 chipset.

Also, there were rumours that Apple will be introducing large screen smartphones along with a 12.9-inch tablet. That Apple was appraising the prospect of stranding the 11-inch MacBook Air with a larger iPad. However, Apple didn't comment on these rumours. If these rumours come up as true, it will be fascinating to see how the Apple handles the large screen smartphones/phablets , which is overshadowed by the Android-based devices.

HTC One's successor HTC M8 expected to come soon!

It is already in the air that HTC is working on for its new flagship smartphone, HTC M8, codenamed as M8 as HTC One being codenamed M7. There is a rumour about its launch at this year's MCW (Mobile World Congress) 2014.

According to the predictions, HTC M8 will sport a 5-inch screen display (1080px). It will support Android 4.4 Kitkat along with a brand new Sense 6.0 lacing. The device will be powered with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM-8974 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It will host a 2.1 UltraPixel camera on the rear.

HTC One had managed to get ample consumer response, as it had a great design, hefty buildup and fresh sense. However, HTC siezed the production of this smartphone, which resulted in its fall.

We expect something more from this new flagship phone. However, it is known that in terms of the looks, the new HTC M8 is very similar to HTC One. There is also a goss that this device would also be exhibited in a gold color version, but its not sure that this alone would do the trick. As there are no major thumps seen in terms of the specifications too.
