My rule is pretty simple - if you like it and it resonates or speaks to you in some way, then the music has done it's job. Snobbery exists for the same people who like to swim in minutia. It's a dumb waste of time, and misses the point completely. Music is *for everyone*, regardless of what someone else would think.
Totally different styles and different eras, I prefer to think of them only as good performers, as far as creativeness is concerned MJ had it over Elvis in my opinion, to bad they were so screwed up as human beings, not withstanding MJ charity work, the other stuff however rubbed off the shine for me, and spoiled my thoughts about them both...
Greatest entertainer who ever lived, not for me he wasn't (MJ I mean) perhaps the greatest entertainer of the 80's would be more appropriate. We believed no one would top Elvis, but someone did, and there is no reason to think someone will not top MJ some day. Both of those entertainers where just another cog in the evolution of popular music and the business, they are to be admired for taking what came before them and expanding it, and growing it, only a select few can claim that, so I remember the music, until the next growth spurt from a talented person grabs society's imagination...
Avoid hard picks. And if you can find some, use thin nylon picks. You can found real thin nylon picks, and that help quiet a lot. But you'll probably understand that your guitar will not sound as loud as if you were using a thick hard pick. If you can't find thin hylon picks, a plastic yogourt pot cover cut in triangle will do the same job.

Btw, if you want my opinion, and you have the patience needed, the best way to record accoustic guitar is getting 2 tracks from the same riff, but not exactly identical on both tracks. Then get pots so you get a stereo sound with these 2 tracks, like 20 on left for one and 20 on right for the other for exemple. That gives a lot of "prestance" to accoustic guitar track(s).
I remember when Elvis died the last single he'd released prior to his demise 'Way Down' jumping up the UK charts to No 1 for a time, it was not making that great an impact before he expired.

Arguably death is always the final 'career move'. Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon etc.

Elvis has sold more product since his passing than he did alive, I guess that will just increase and increase.

For what it's worth when anyone uses the phrase 'The King' I automatically link it to Elvis, simply because the term has been in use forever.

Then there was a piece of graffiti that went viral back in the day 'Clapton Is God' man that was sprayed a lot.
I thought Elvis was King of Rock-and-Roll and MJ was King of Pop. So, it isn't exactly fair to compare the two. Even with both having international followings, they catered to different tastes.

I'm with Becwil in that I'm not a big fan of either, with FrozenEntropy that neither was really a king for me, and with Melly that Elvis owed a lot more to others while MJ really developed his own style. Even MJ owed a lot to Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, and more, though. It takes a lot of people to build an Elvis or MJ or Madonna or U2 -- and I'm not sure we'll see anything like any of them within 10-20 years. Are the Disney-produced powerhouses like Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus or the Idol-produced stars like Carrie Underwood or Jennifer Hudson close at all? They seem pretty big to me (whether I like them or not ) but as big as Elvis or MJ?

I digress a bit, but I wonder....
Posted it on my facebook page, too. I'm not a big country fan, but the song is good, fun, and gets the point. Look forward tohearing their other two United blasts.
I'm with Bass2x on this one. Just like string noise a pick can add to the event. But yes, parametric EQ should do it as pharmakeus stated above. Parametric EQ is a great tool.
