Whiskey is the Devil for me. In my younger days I was a mean whiskey man. Now I still enjoy it on occasion but if I over-enjoy it, mean Mr. Johnny comes around again. So this song makes the analogy to an unrequited lover. Maybe it's a modern day DH Lawrence.

What I do know is that the intro features some drunk Chimps and the last set of choruses feature me singing full tilt whiskeyed. Kind of wanted to do a bit of method singing if you will ; }

I sent a basic track to Mary a few weeks ago.
She kindly accept to compose lyrics and adapt vocals.
I reworked some instruments and mixed. Here is the result.

A few words about Andromeda...
The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy approximately 2,500,000 light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.

It is the nearest spiral galaxy to our own, the Milky Way.

The Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way are approaching one another at a speed of 100 to 140 kilometres per second.

The collision is predicted to occur in about 2.5 billion years.
In that case the two galaxies will likely merge to form a giant elliptical galaxy.

A change in direction from our RnB releases yet to me this is still very urban and gritty. Angela and I decided before our first collab that we would try to release songs with a deeper if not socially conscious meaning.

This song is about being stuck in a place where you can't escape. As slavery, indentured servitude or even prostitution. There are asian influences in the music in order to set the scene of Chinatown, Yourcity, USA!

Again we try to express what we see as injustice in this world!

Shortly before my Mom passed away I asked Sylvia (lilmom) if she'd consider crafting her version of this classic. She gladly accepted, which I am forever grateful, and her interpretation was magic to me and Mom. I especially love her intro and outro - fantasmo!!

It was one of my Mom's all time favorite songs that she'd asked me to sing for years and she listened to this everyday until she couldn't press the buttons anymore. Hope you guys like if you listen.

Jeff's vid. An interesting challenge to score an iphone vid walking around town. Some other things I might have added like splashing water and cars driving past. Choice of music was something I already had which made me think of city streets at night and wandering around much like what Jeff portrays in the video. The main subject to me is the persons view who is walking which is (hopefully) related by the flute. Anyway, thanks Jeff. Music is done on a korg synth.

I have been reunited with my lovely digital piano!! It's been in storage for the past two years and I started writing this the second I got to play it again. I had some trouble with lining in to my computer for some reason, and still haven't gotten the fuzzy sound to go away on the piano track. I checked settings on the mixbox, the recording level, the track level, and the gate but it still sounds sort of distant. I don't remember it being that way before, but maybe I'm just doing something differently this time.
