Apple TV now shows ABC, Bloomberg, Crackle and KOR TV channels

After adding Yahoo Screen and PBS channels last month, Major League Soccer and Disney Junior channels in September as well as Vevo, Weather Channel, Disney, Smithsonian and a bunch of other content sources earlier this year, Apple’s again expanded on the device’s content sources.

The $99 media-streaming box is now even more useful with four additional channels from ABC, financial organization Bloomberg, Sony’s streaming movie and TV show service Crackle and Korea-based on-demand video service KOR TV, all now accessible from the Apple TV‘s Home menu.

As you could imagine, the Watch ABC channel requires a subscription with a cable service such as AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Google Fiber, Verizon FiOS and others in order to watch content through your Apple TV. Popular television shows as the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series are available for streaming, provided you’re an ABC Subscriber.

As for the Bloomberg channel, it features 24/7 streaming of the content found on Bloomberg TV and the company’s other web properties. It includes a live stream of business news and breaking news and on-demand clips and TV show episodes, with pre-roll video ads on some of the content.

All Bloomberg content via the official channel is available in nearly all markets supported by the Apple TV, with users automatically getting a live stream depending on their location.

Future features will bring a playlist feature that’s integrated with Bloomberg’s iOS apps, according to 9to5Mac.

You’ll be able to sign-into your Bloomberg account on any device (including the Apple TV), create playlists, and quickly pick up where you left off on another device by signing-in and accessing your playlist.

There isn’t a sign-in or account creation process needed to access Apple TV content, but when playlists roll out users will have the option to create an account and sign-in to access the feature.

These channels should have been pushed to your device over-the-air.

If not, you can update your Apple TV software manually by visiting Settings > General > Software Updates and hitting the Update Software option.

Temple Run 2 : Celebrations Begin

Imangi Studio’s popular endless runner, Temple Run 2, used to be my favorite time-killer for months following its January 2013 release. The free game saw a cool twenty million iOS downloads in the first four days of availability, growing to a whopping fifty million downloads in under four weeks.
I’ve since stopped playing the game and only occasionally fire it up to challenge myself with beating my best scores.

If you’ve been yearning for a substantial Temple Run 2 content update as much as I have, today is the day as a new version of the game surfaced on the App Store featuring a playable Santa character, various holiday-themed artifacts, new collectible masks, a cool new water slide feature that lets you swim through raging rapids and lots more.

Here's whats new :

- Run as Santa for a limited time through the holiday season by using gems to unlock!
- Five holiday artifacts to unlock: holly, present, stocking, wreath, candy cane
- Santa Hats – Earn a Santa hat for each character when you collect each of the holiday-themed items
- Water slide play feature – Dive through treacherous waters
- Unique obstacles – fallen trees, large rocks and more
- Hunt down masks of varying rarities

The Santa character is available for a limited time and can be unlocked with 60 gems which you can either earn through gameplay or obtain via in-app purchase.

You’ll also love a bunch of collectable holiday-themed artifacts such as presents, candy canes, wreaths, holly and stockings that can earn you amusing Santa hats for each of your characters.

Twitter updated it's iOS App : Version 6.0

Twitter has updated its official iOS client today, bringing the app to version 6.0. The update is a fairly significant one, bringing about a new look and feel for the app, as well as photo-sharing for direct messages, improved search and more.

The new look pushes the UI of the Twitter app further into iOS 7 territory. There’s more white spacing—the menu bar at the bottom is now all white— and texts and graphics seem flatter. And Twitter has added various other enhancements.

Here's whats new in Version 6.0 :

- Refreshed look and feel. Home, Activity and Discover now available by swiping in Timelines. Easier access to DMs.
Share photos in Direct Messages.
- Send and receive photos via DMs.

Facebook Messenger App Update enables One-Touch Timeline Access

Last month, Facebook released version 3.0 of its popular Messenger app. The update was significant because it featured an all-new UI design for the app, bringing its aesthetics more in line with those introduced by Apple in iOS 7.

Today, the client received another update, bringing it to version 3.1. This time Facebook added a few new convenience features that will allow you to access a person’s Timeline or call them (toll-free) by simply tapping on their picture…

Google Drive App for iOS gets an Important Update

The search monster Google today updated its free Drive for iPhone and iPad app with the much-needed ability to sort your cloud files according to several built-in criteria. The highly requested feature finally makes it easy to access your files by last edited, last modified, title and last opened by you. Additionally, you can also find and replace in documents.

I switched from the native Microsoft Office apps to Google Docs years ago and never looked back. Google’s suite of cloud productivity apps has won me over with its ability to access, edit and share my stuff on any network-enabled computer, right in a web browser, without having to install anything.

In a post over at Google+, the Internet giant called file sorting a useful feature “many of you have asked for”.

Another useful feature addition: find and replace in Documents.

In addition to file-sorting and find-and-replace, the new Google Drive 2.2 app contains a few under the hood stability improvements.

Google Drive for iOS was previously updated with multiple accounts, single sign-on, wireless printing, card-style thumbnail layout from Android, the ability to open links in Chrome, swipe through image galleries, post comments and more.

Siri continues to get Smarter with iOS 7

Gene Munster is out with a new report today looking at the state of Siri’s ability to accurately answer and respond to queries. The Piper Jaffray analyst regularly assesses the accuracy of Apple’s digital assistant.

In his latest look, Munster found that Siri has continued to improve with the release of iOS 7, particularly in its ability to properly interpret questions being asked and its overall performance when accessed in noisier situations…

The primary improvement between Siri in iOS 6 and iOS 7 came from its performance in noisier areas, where Siri was able to translate better through a noisy environment (94% vs. 83% correct in Aug iOS 6). Based on our testing, iOS 7 Siri’s net ability to answer questions (factors in questions not correctly understood) improved to 79% from 77% in August with iOS 6.

It would seem that Siri has come a long way from a year ago, when Munster graded the assistant a “D” in search accuracy. He now grades in a C+, and after doing some comparison testing, has ranked it even with Google’s ‘Now’ service.

In September of this year, Apple released iOS 7 to the public with a number of improvements for Siri including a new design, new voice options, and more, but I’d be lying if I said I’ve noticed it being more accurate than it was in iOS 6.
