Looks like we have already got an untethered iOS 12 jailbreak! Yes, hardly two days after Apple released iOS 12 to the public, a security firm uploaded a video showcasing a working jailbreak on the new software.

We have had jailbreak software for previous versions of iOS 11, but it’s nice to see that development is still going on. iOS 12 brings several new features and improvements, and a jailbreak should bring more cool customizations to the operating system. The security firm, called Ali security, posted a proof-of-concept video that showcases the iOS 12 jailbreak on an iPhone X.

The phone is running the latest iOS 12 software, and not the GM or a beta, which means that jailbreak works great on the new software. However, we are not sure if Cydia works, as the video doesn’t show the user launching the tool. It does appear to be an untethered jailbreak though, which means that the jailbreak tool doesn’t have to be run every time the phone is rebooted. You can watch the video below:

In the video, you can see the user run the jailbreak tool on the phone. It performs a few steps, and then says that the device is jailbroken. After a reboot, a pop-up appears showing that the device is pwned, or jailbroken. This pretty much shows that this jailbreak is untethered. Previous jailbreaks have usually been a semi-tethered one, wherein the jailbreak tool had to be run again after a reboot.

This demo appears to be just a proof-of-concept, and we don’t think that the company would release the tool to the public. The firm is probably just going to sell the exploits for profits. Although, we do believe that an iOS 12 jailbreak could be released some time later this year.

What do you think about this video? Will we be seeing a public jailbreak tool released any time soon? Would you jailbreak iOS 12?

(Source)

As promised, Apple has now started to roll out the latest iOS 12 software update to compatible iOS devices. The software was in beta for quite some time, and was finally given a public release date during the iPhone Xs launch event. It is now available as an OTA update to all those who were running the last version of iOS 11.

Apple had released 12 developer betas for iOS 12, and one Golden Master edition, before releasing the final public update yesterday. If you’re a developer, and are running on the Golden Master version, then you don’t really have to update, as the public update is the same. Also, going forward, if you are on the GM version, you will continue to get newer beta updates.

iOS 12 Compatibility List

Not all iPhone versions can run the latest iOS 12 software. The new iPhone Xs/Xs Max, and the iPhone Xr, will come pre-installed with iOS 12. Here is a list of all the devices that are now getting the new software update.

iPod touch 6th gen

If you have got any of the above devices, then you can install the new software update and enjoy all the new features and improvements.

iOS 12: What’s New

Apple has included plenty of new features on the latest iOS update, but most of them will only be affecting the newer iPhone and iPad devices. Yes, the older phones will also see some improvements in performance, but the improvements will be bigger on the newer devices. There are a few new apps such as Measure, Shortcuts, and the update brings support for ARKit2. There’s a new feature called Screen Time, which allows users to track the amount of time spent on a device. Parents can also track what their kids are doing on a device.

The iBooks app has been replaced with Apple Books, the Messages app gets personalized Memoji, and four new Animoji. A new ‘For You’ section is available in the Photos app. The notifications have been improved, and you now get group notifications from the same app. There’s a new Do Not Disturb During Bedtime feature, and Safari gets Intelligent Tracking Prevention. The Safari feature lets you disable the like and share options in websites.

Apple has also improved Maps, and it now comes with first-party date. The CarPlay feature has also been improved, and can run third-party navigation apps. iPad users can now get access to the Voice Memos and Stock apps, which weren’t available on the tablet. The tablet also gets the iPhone X navigation gestures. There are plenty more smaller changes and improvements in the latest iOS 12 update. We recommend you install the update, unless you’re jailbroken, then you can skip it.

Yes, you read that right. After being around for a year, Apple has shelved the iPhone X. It is no longer available for purchase, and has been replaced by the new iPhone Xs.

The iPhone X was a milestone device, as it introduced the world to the notch, and FaceID. We had heard rumors that Apple will discontinue the device once the new one is out, and that has turned out to be the case. If you head to the Apple website, you will see the new iPhone Xs/Xs Max, iPhone Xr, the iPhone 8/8 Plus, and the iPhone 7/7 Plus. That’s the current iPhone line-up from Apple.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 Prices Slashed

As is the case every year, the older gen iPhone prices have been slashed by Apple. If you are looking at buying the iPhone 7/7 Plus or the iPhone 8/8Plus, then you will be happy to know that these phones have gotten cheaper.

Starting today, the iPhone 7 will cost you $449 unlocked, and the iPhone 7 Plus will be $569. This is for the base variant, which comes with 32GB of internal storage. The iPhone 8 is now priced at $599, whereas the iPhone 8 Plus will cost you $699. Again, this is for the base variant with 64GB of storage.

So, there you go, if you were planning on buy the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, or even the iPhone 7 series, then you can get them for cheaper now. It is also possible that some offline stores will sell the iPhone X for discounted prices. This is still a great phone, and if you get it for a much cheaper price, it will be worth it.

The new 2018 iPhones have finally been announced, and all the rumors and leaks have turned out to be true. We’ve got three new devices, and they are called, the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone Xr. Apple first introduced the new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max, which are the successors to the iPhone X.

As you can see from the image above, the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max now come with better displays with higher refresh rates, better color production, and more. The iPhone Xs gets a 5.8-inch OLED panel, while the iPhone Xs Max comes with a larger 6.5-inch OLED display. The iPhone Xs Max is similar in size to the iPhone 8 Plus, but with a larger display.

iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max: Specifications

Apart from the new display size and panels on the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max, the new devices come equipped with the A12 Bionic chipset. Apple has made a lot of developments with this chipset, and it is manufactured using the 7nm process. It is more efficient, and up to 15 percent more faster. The A12 Bionic has a 6-core CPU, a 4-Core GPU, and a new Neural engine with 8-cores. The GPU is up to 50 percent faster than the GPU on the A11 Bionic.

The camera has been improved as well. You still get the dual-camera setup on the back, but with larger sensors, and a new Smart HDR feature that should make photography much easier. You get a 12MP main sensor, and another 12MP telephoto lens, with new lenses, that are supposedly better than before. The portrait mode feature now gets a depth control mode, which allows you to adjust the photos. For videos, you get stereo sound recording, which is great.

Apple also introduced up to 512GB of internal storage, and also announced a Dual-SIM feature. However, there’s only one physical SIM, while the other is an eSIM. For the Chinese users, Apple has made an iPhone Xs Max with a SIM slot that can take two SIMs, on either sides. And of course, there’s a new Gold color option.

iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max: Pricing

The all new iPhone Xs will be priced similar to the iPhone X, and will cost you $999 for the base variant. The iPhone Xs Max will start at $1099. The new iPhones have a maximum storage option of 512GB.

You can start pre-ordering the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max on September 14, this Friday. The devices will start shipping on September 24th to the first list of regions, and on September 28th to the several other regions.

iPhone Xr: Specifications

Next up, the iPhone Xr, which as suspected, features a 6.1-inch LCD display. Apple is calling this the Liquid Retina display, and it has bezels slightly thicker than the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. There is no 3D Touch feature here, but it does get a new haptic touch based system.

The iPhone Xr is powered by the same A12 Bionic chip present on the other two iPhones. It has a single rear camera though, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, but it has a portrait mode as well. The sensor is the same found on the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. The camera has OIS, and an f1/.8 aperture, with the true tone flash.

iPhone Xr: Pricing

You get plenty of new colors with the iPhone Xr, and the base variant will start at $749, which is cheaper than the iPhone 8 Plus. You can start pre-ordering the new iPhone Xr on October 19th and it will ship on October 26th.

Apple also announced that the iOS 12 software update will be available for download on September 17th.

Apple will be launching the new 2018 iPhone tomorrow, yes, we are only a day from the biggest Apple event of this year. A recent leak revealed that one of the new iPhones would be called the iPhone XS. This would be the successor the iPhone X from last year. However, there are going to be two more iPhones, one with a 6.1-inch display, and another with a larger 6.5-inch OLED screen.

2018 iPhone Names

The 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will supposedly be called iPhone XS Max, according to Mark Gurman. He has been right about things before, so it is possible that he knows about this too. According to his sources, the 6.5-inch would be called iPhone XS Max, and the base model 6.1-inch LCD iPhone would be known as iPhone Xr.

We are not sure what the ‘r’ here stands for, but the iPhone XS Max name is pretty self explanatory. What we don’t get, is why Apple wouldn’t go with iPhone XS Plus. It has been using the Plus name ever since the iPhone 6 Plus, so why go with Max now? This is not the first time that these names have appeared on the interwebs. Other reports have also mentioned that Apple would go with these names for its new 2018 iPhone lineup.

2018 iPhone Pricing

Another leak had mentioned that the cheaper iPhone model, with the 6.1-inch LCD display, could be called iPhone Xc. This variant, will have an aluminium frame and newer color options, similar to the iPhone 5c. You can expect colors such as Blue, Red, etc. It will include FaceID, and is expected to be priced around $699.

In fact, pricing for the new 2018 iPhone models were recently revealed at an internal presentation by China Mobile. Going by the slide in the presentation, the iPhone Xs would be priced around $900, whereas the larger iPhone XS Max/Plus would cost around $1015.

The Apple event for 2018 is just a day away, and we have had plenty of leaks in the last week. One such leak, consisted of renders of the upcoming iPad Pro 2018, the 12.9-inch model. We are not sure if Apple would release the new and updated iPad Pro and MacBook during this event, or if the company would schedule another event.

As you can see from the rendered image above, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 seems to have slimmer bezels, and lacks the Home button. The rumors had indicated such a design change, but we had never seen any renders before. It does look quite good, and will definitely improve the footprint of the device. Of course, these are just renders, and we can’t be a 100 percent sure.

12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018

Alright, so one of the major changes with the 2018 iPad Pro, is the new design with slim bezels. There is also no home button, which means that the only way to unlock the iPad Pro, would be via Face unlock. Apple will most likely include the FaceID tech from the iPhone X, on the new iPad Pro.

It looks like there is no headphone jack either, and you get a charging port and speakers at the bottom of the device. The tablet does have the Power button and the volume buttons, but the smart connector has been relocated to the bottom of the device. This is probably because the iPad Pro can’t be used in landscape position when using FaceID to unlock. Strangely, the renders also show another button/connector on the right side of the tablet. Perhaps this is where the Smart Keyboard cover would get linked.

You can also see antenna bands at the top and bottom of the tablet, a single rear camera with flash, and dual microphones at the top. There are speaker grills at each corner of the tablet. Overall, the new design looks sleeker and better than the current model. Here’s a video showcasing all the renders.

iPad Pro 2018: Specifications, and Features

It is expected that Apple would introduce two variants of the iPad Pro, just like last year. One with a 12.9-inch display, and the other with a 10.5-inch screen. Both of the devices would come with a True Tone LCD panel, with high refresh rates. The tablets should be powered by the upcoming A12X chipsets, which would be much faster and efficient than the current A11X. We can expect around 4GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and support for Apple Pencil. There have also been rumors suggesting that Apple could use a USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning connector, and introduced 18W fast charging.

That’s all we know for now, but we will know more soon. Once again, it is not guaranteed that Apple would launch the iPad Pro 2018 at the special event tomorrow.

The new update, version 7.8, for the AirPort Express, brings support for AirPlay 2 and the Home app. There have been subtle clues about an incoming update in recent iOS betas, but there was no confirmation give by Apple, until the update arrived.

AirPort Express Update: What’s New?

With AirPlay 2 support on the AirPort Express, users can stream music from an iOS device to AirPlay 2 supported speakers. You can stream to your Apple HomePod, speakers connected to the Apple TV, Sonos, and many more. The update also includes support for the Home app. So, you can also use Siri and ask the assistant to play music in a certain room. This will work if you have assigned a certain speaker to a certain room, via the Home app.

AirPlay 2 brings a lot of improvement to the Express, thanks to low latency streaming, and the ability to play music in multiple rooms.

Download AirPort Express Update

To download the latest update for the AirPort Express, you will have to use the AirPort Utility app on your iOS or maxOS device. Your device must be connected to the Wi-Fi, and you will find it on your iOS or Mac. In the AirPort Utility app, locate the base station and click on the Update button.

Once you have installed the update, you will have to open the Home app and start adding a new accessory, such as your wireless HomePod speaker. You can also assign rooms via the app, and you don’t have to use a code to add the accessory. Follow the instructions on screen, and you should be good to go! The AirPort Express with AirPlay 2 and Home app will work on the latest stable iOS 11.4.1 version, and even on iOS 12.

Looks like Apple might be calling the base 6.1-inch iPhone as the iPhone XC. If you didn’t already know, Apple is said to announce three new iPhones during the Special Event scheduled for September 12th. While we have already seen the leaked image for the iPhone XS, which would be the successor to the iPhone X, we now have some images for the base variant iPhone.

The iPhone XC, as it’s supposedly called, will be the base variant in the new 2018 iPhone line-up. It would replace the iPhone 8, and will cost just as same. This variant will not have a dual-camera setup like the iPhone XS, and will probably lack some other features as well. This variant will come with an LCD screen, unlike the OLED panels on the other two models.

As per the leaked image, which comes out of China, the iPhone XC would come in several new color options such as; Red, Blue, Gray, White, and Orange. Internally, the phone will be equipped with a new A12 chip, and 3GB of RAM. Storage options for this mode would start at 64GB, and go up to 256GB. Reminds us of the iPhone 5C, to be honest.

Now, we urge you to take this with a grain of salt, obviously. Leaks like these can sometimes be completely wrong. We will have to wait to find out if this is indeed the cheaper iPhone, with a 6.1-inch LCD screen, that everyone has been talking about. Stay tuned for more!

Apart from the new iPhone XS and iPhone 9, we would also be seeing a new Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch at the September 12th event. Apple will unveil an upgraded variant of its smartwatch, which we now have a picture of. Thanks to a leak, we know what the new Apple Watch Series 4 would look like.

As you can see in the image above, which was leaked earlier this week, the Apple Watch Series 4 will get a bigger display. The report states that the display would be 15 percent larger than the current models, but there would be no change in the size of the watch case. You will still get two variants of Apple Watch, one with a 38mm case, and another with a 42mm case. The bezels of the watch have been reduced to achieve this.

Thanks to the larger screen, you can also accommodate more complications than before. The image also shows a new watch face with around 8 complications. Apple could, thus, release new watch faces for the larger display. You will also notice a new microphone hole present between the Digital Crown and the Side button.

Other rumors about the Apple Watch Series 4 suggest that it would get a newer chip, faster LTE, and non-movable buttons. Again, only about 10 more days to go till the special event.

As we wait for Apple to announce the new iPhones on September 12th, let us indulge you in some fresh new leaks. The image you see below is of the upcoming iPhone X successor, and they are apparently the real deal, and Apple is calling it the iPhone XS. We already know, that Apple will be announcing three iPhone variants during the event. Two of them would come with OLED displays, and one with an LCD screen.

The above image shows the OLED display iPhones, and according to the leak, Apple will be calling them the ‘iPhone XS’. Yes, both the phones will go by the same name, but offer two different display sizes. One is said to feature a 5.8-inch display, similar to the one found on the current iPhone X, while the other would come with a larger 6.5-inch screen.

If you didn’t already notice, the above image depicts the new iPhone XS in a gold colorway. This means that the new iPhone would be available in Space Grey, Silver, and Gold. That’s one more new color to choose from. The leak comes from a reputed Apple news website, and it is pretty sure about its findings.

Therefore, we can now confirm that the new iPhone X successor would be simply called as the iPhone XS. And that’s okay, as we were wondering what Apple would call the new iPhone. And since Apple is known to release an S product a year after a major new launch, we kind of expected it. Anyway, we will know for sure in about 10 days time.

Stay tuned for more!

The date is set! Apple will be introducing new iPhone and other products on September 12th. The company sent out invites to the media, with the words ‘Gather Round’. The event will be taking place at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, Cupertino, California.

Rumors and reports about the new iPhone have been plenty. It is believed that Apple will be launching three variants, once again, of the iPhone. However, this time, there would be only iPhone 9, and the other two would be successors of the iPhone X.

New iPhone

We expect Apple to release three iPhone models, one with an LCD display, while the other two would come with OLED panels. The iPhone X successor is said to come in two display sizes. One would have a 5.8-inch display, similar to the current iPhone X, and the other would come with a larger 6.5-inch screen. The third iPhone, would be the successor of the iPhone 8, but only one variant would be available.

You can expect Apple to release a single iPhone 9 model, with a 6.1-inch LCD display. This would be the base variant in the new iPhone line-up, and is expected to cost similar to the iPhone 8. In terms of hardware, all three models would have a notch at the front, and improved internals. The iPhone X variants are said to come with an improved dual-camera setup, but the iPhone 9 would come with a single camera. We can expect improved FaceID tech, and newer processors.

New Apple Watch

Apart from new iPhones, Apple is also expected to announce a refreshed Apple Watch. The Watch Series 4 will have a bigger display and slimmer bezels, following the design language of the iPhone X. It is also said to feature a newer chipset, non-movable buttons, and longer lasting battery.

iOS 12

Apple has been beta testing iOS 12 for a while now, and it will release the public version on September 12th. The new iOS 12 update brings plenty of new features, and improvements. It will also release macOS Mojave 10.14 during or after the event. Expect release dates for watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 to be announced as well.

That’s all we expect from this years September iPhone event. Most likely, you will not see any major new features with the iPhone X models, as this is just an ‘S’ update. Are you excited about the event? What do you think of the invite? Is there any hidden meaning there?

Apple are allegedly still intending to release its new MacBook by the end of the month with the plan for shipments to start soon after the media release. This is according to information from Mac Otakara.

According to Mac Otakara, they have contacts with a ‘reliable Chinese Supplier’ with alleged information that Apple will launch new 13 and 15 inch models, continuing on the current size spectrum that they have within their Pro lineup. There is also a small amount of information regarding a new MacBook Air featuring USB C however this is sketchy as it would bring the new MacBook and the MacBook Air very close specification wise.

The new MacBook Pro would apparently replace the existing lineup, like in previous releases with the MacBook Air apparently having both USB – C ports and Thunderbolt 3, with very little mention of classic, traditional outputs such as HDMI or USB-A.

The new MacBook Pro however could have both USB C and USB A, however Apple are more likely to push towards their USB C output on their devices, such as was featured in the new MacBook. This would of course most likely remove the MagSafe connection which is unique to the MacBook’s and a key feature for some users.

As with any iteration of MacBook’s, it would most likely have a thinner body along with their new keyboard mechanism with the possibility of an OLED display touch panel at the top of the body to replace the normal function keys. This OLED panel would have, most likely, API’s allowing developers to program their apps to utilise it, such as Spotify Play/Pause functions.

A sketchy rumour also suggests that their may be Touch ID integrated into the MacBook Pro to speed up both unlocking and security of individual files however this could have a number of usability problems.

Mac Otakara, has an interesting track record and the rumours shouldn’t be taken as 100% reliable however the October release date is something that is agreed with across a number of sources.

With no media invites sent out and not long before the end of October, do you think that Apple are going to release their new machines in time for Christmas. If so, what would you like to see most on these new models? Drop a comment below letting us know.

Update: According to Re/Code, the event will take place on the 27th.

Playtopia is a Cydia tweak available for anyone jaibroken running iOS 9 or below. Playtopia brings the miniplayer that is famous within iTunes, onto iOS, meaning you always have access to your media controls without needing to bring up control centre.

Playtopia has a great UI which fits in great with the rest of iOS and you will struggle to believe after a bit of use that it wasn’t built in the first place. Not only does it show which app, or source, that your music is coming from but it will also show the album art as well which is great for those that appreciate it.

If you tap on the album art it changes the slider between the music sequence scrubber to the volume slider, allowing you to make subtle changes without needing to do much. Playtopia even has it’s own ‘Dark Mode’ with a button to the left of the slider allowing you to switch in between light and dark mode, great for fitting in with the time of day or the rest of your devices theme.

If you’re really pressed for space on an old iPhone 5 perhaps, or even the iPhone 4S, you’ll appreciate the super compact ‘miniature’ mode which is just a little larger than the standard app size on your home screen. This mode is a circular icon with the centre being a play/pause button and the scrubber circling the outside.

For those of you who have never really got on with any other mini music players or just like having the most screen estate possible on a smaller device, then you will really appreciate the sleek interface of this mode.

It has a simple configuration however warning, it requires something called ‘AppList’ which it will help you install where necessary. This simply allows you to configure what apps you don’t want the miniplayer to work in, such as games for example.

If you think Playtopia is the tweak for you then you can download it off of the BigBoss repo today for $2.99. Are you going to be downloading it or is it not quite you’re thing. Leave a comment letting us know you’re experience on it or why you didn’t decide to install it.

With an iOS 10 jailbreak possibly not being released for a while, if you’re still on a jailbroken iOS 9 but missing the iOS 10 features, fear no more! With this handy article you’ll have iOS 10 features on your device in no time.

Raise To Wake

This is only supported on the 6S, 6S Plus and the iPhone SE due to the newer ‘motion co-processor’. Personally, if they wanted to include this on older devices they could have.

With FaceOff, you can do just this, and more! It can detect whether it’s in or out of your pocket as well modify when it will detect your proximity, such as when you’re plugged in charging.

With a whole list of tweaks including various ways to disable it, delays and different standards of sensitivity as to when the screen should light up, you won’t struggle configuring this to your exact preference!

When iOS 10 is jailbroken, I will certainly be trying to get this on my device as Raise to Wake would be great to have on my iPhone 6, and very useful!

Home

Apple introduced their very own Home app which included the ability to set scenes and use your Apple TV 4 to control your home when you’re away. This app you don’t even need to be jailbroken for as it is available on the iOS App Store today. This third party Home app is essentially the same as Apple’s new app, allowing for changing your light’s brightness and colour as well as controlling other HomeKit utilities. This includes but isn’t limited to ceiling fans, your doors or even the thermostat! Download it on the App Store.

Notification Centre Widgets

Slowly but surely, Apple are finally beginning to welcome widgets into their operating system, something which can’t come quick enough. With iOS 10 there are now some pretty useful widgets such as Music, Calendar, Mail and others with developers allowed to create their own as well. Although they aren’t fully there yet, it’s definitely going in the right direction.

To get some widgets on your iOS 9 device however, you need to make a small purchase on the BigBoss repo and download DopeLock. You get a few customisation options well as the ability to customise your notification centre. This tweak isn’t quite a perfect replacement however it’s as good as you’ll get I think.

Facial Recognition

The ‘people’ tab within the Photos app is actually pretty nifty and for the most part, works well. I’ve had a few people feel quite insulted at the suggestions that they might be someone else who, looks nothing like however overall it works fairly well.

If you find the need for being able to filter out photos based on who’s in them, then Google Photos is the app for you. Although it does require having your photos stored in Google Drive, it’s a great replacement and for the most part, works really well.

Even better, is that it works with animals as well, something which Apple quite hasn’t got nailed.

Parked Car Locator

This is really useful for those of you who end up wondering through a car park trying to find your car, however the slight flaw I found with Apple’s built in system is that it only works in an Apple Car Play Car. Maybe that’s just me, but it doesn’t seem to work otherwise. Shame.

Track Back is a great little replacement and does exactly what it says. It stores your cars location and then you can even get maps directions back to it if you can’t find it, something which will definitely be useful if you have a habit for parking your car down a small side street.

Combined with an Apple Watch App, you won’t need to look like a complete idiot wondering around trying to find your car.

Delete Stock Apps

This was an addition which all users of iOS 10 welcomed with open arms. With the default apps taking up almost 2 pages now, it was definitely a good option. For those of you who don’t want to be stuck using spoof or moving apps in and out of folders to try and cause a glitch, worry no more.

On cydia.jerryen.com, is a tweak called AppHide which allows you to toggle on apps that you don’t want to see. Perfect!

There are more alternatives for different features, so if you’d like to see more drop a comment below letting us know. Will these tweaks allow you to keep your sanity on iOS 9 or do you feel you have to upgrade?

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus has had stock issues ever since launching in the UK. With Apple stores in the USA now having plenty of stock, for some reason over here we’re still lacking.

Unfortunately over here, they are still in extremely short supply. With next to no stock available in any stores and even iPhone Upgrade Program users struggling to get their hands on it, this wasn’t Apple’s smoothest launch.

I carried out a little experiment of my own, to see how soon I could get my hands on Apple’s new ‘premium’ standard device, the Jet Black model. Even though I would never buy one due to it being a complete finger print magnet, it’s interesting to see just how short a supply they have. This has been rumoured to be because there is an extremely high quality control process with over 50% not reaching the desired standard and being re-milled.

With only the 128GB or 256GB options available to me, there was essentially no stock saying that I wouldn’t receive it for around a month, with most people’s orders being pushed back further. For people who have brought their devices from a mobile carrier, a lot of carrier’s are operating reimbursement voucher schemes, either giving money off the device purchase itself or giving around £50-£100 vouchers off of items such as accessories from their own stores by way of apology.

The bad news only continues for Store Stock as I was unable to pick up one within a 30 mile radius of me, with stores beyond this still not having any stock.

It was rumoured that Apple didn’t actually have as much stock as they normally do for iPhone launches due to late production but also for advertising purposes as headlines reading “Apple can’t supply enough iPhone’s” are better than “Apple have an excess of iPhones”.

What do you think? Is this launch a bit of a shambles or is it some clever advertising going on. Did you have much luck getting your iPhone near launch date? Leave a comment below letting us know.

The iOS 10 jailbreak could already exist having been made by the Pangu development jailbreak team. If this was the case, why haven’t they already released it to everyone you may wonder.

With every iteration of iOS, finding usable exploits gets harder as Apple patches more and increases their security measurements. There will only ever be a certain amount of usable exploits and eventually, Apple will most likely patch them all.

Tech analysts have claimed that actually, Pangu may already have the solution to an iOS 10 jailbreak in hand but aren’t releasing it just yet. This could be to ensure maximum compatibility with devices as well as to prevent any embarrassing hiccups with installation as have happened in the past. It is also a possibility that they have the basics it just needs tidying up.

Why no news then?

It’s actually quite simple. Apple is famous for releasing small iterations such as iOS 10.0.1 with iOS 10.0.2 following it fairly quickly. These minor updates always have the possibility to close off the exploit that Pangu were expecting to use.

When iOS 9.3 was released, people moaned as a jailbreak had just been released however it wasn’t supported in 9.3. Pangu could be waiting for iOS 10.1 to be released first before they expose their exploits. Remember, each jailbreak uses a number of different exploits and it doesn’t really make sense to release it just yet, as much as we’d all love it.

This rumour has been speculated by YouTube bloggers and other analysts as releasing a jailbreak after a semi-major iteration software update means that people will get to use the new Apple features as well as enjoy a jailbreak at the same time.

Remember, even though Luda Tudesco demoed it, he didn’t release the tools he used and there are a number of reasons that the jailbreak displayed there is not quite what it looked like.

For now, just hang on in there and wait for Pangu to launch their tool, and don’t download anything else saying it will jailbreak your device, as it won’t. Check back on ijailbreak.com regularly as this will be one of the first places to announce the launch of the tool.

What would you do with a jailbreak on iOS 10 or are you quite happy with Apple’s built in software. Leave a comment down below letting us know.

Apple Music and Beats 1 go hand in hand however unfortunately, Apple don’t provide a built in option to play these as an alarm sound. Today, you can change that.

Personally, I get extremely bored of the same old alarm sounds or the same song and more often than not, I get so used to it that I will simply fall straight back to sleep, so much for an alarm!

With this, you can have Beats 1, Apple Music playlists or a certain playlist play as your alarm, which is another example of what Apple needs to integrate into their software but jailbreakers have to do it for them.

Unfortunately, you do need to be jailbroken to do this – Sorry iOS 10 users!

First off, if you don’t have it installed already, you need to go and install a tweak called Activator. Most of you will probably already have it as a majority of tweaks do rely on it to perform functions however if you’re new to the scene, you may need to download it. It’s free and it’s available on the default repo’s so there is no need to go adding any more repos to Cydia!

Once installed, you want to tap on the ‘More’ button in the top right.

Head on down to the scheduled section and then select the necessary day’s and times. For most people that will be the Monday – Friday 6:30 AM wakeup I would imagine!

Once selected, confirm it by tapping ‘Save’ and then under the ‘Custom Actions’ section, you want to tap ‘Ask Siri A Question”. This will allow you to type out a question which will automatically be ‘asked’, without you having to say anything, as you’ll be asleep!

Simply type in what you want to ask, for most I’d advise the below, however if you have a certain playlist, just use that. As long as Siri supports the phrase when you say it normally, it will work with whatever you type in.

Question: Siri Play Beats 1

Once that’s done, you’re all set! You can now have Beats 1 play when you wake up, which is much better than the default alarm sounds!

Are you going to be tuning into Beats 1 a lot more frequently or do you prefer blaring noises to get you out of bed in the morning. Leave a comment below letting us know.

The Samsung Note 7 has now officially been discontinued after less than 2 months on the market, Samsung have decided to call it a day on their attempt of a flagship model. Launched in August 2016, it has done nothing but hit major headlines, for all the wrong reasons.

Originally, with the explosion issues this was due to early models having a faulty / poorly made battery in them, following Samsung’s recall and replacement program. This has evidently not worked as after the last week, there have been several experiences of the phones bursting into flames or starting to smoke.

This smoking and bursting into flames is not just for the devices that were plugged in charging however, a number of reports have stated that the phones started to heat up to ridiculous temperatures even when left on the night stand overnight with a large number of people refusing to charge the devices unless they were awake and could watch them charging, to prevent being caught unawares.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Samsung has officially axed the Note 7 project, meaning that there will be no more sales or production of the devices. A spokesperson on behalf of Samsung officially told TechCrunch: “We can confirm the report that Samsung has permanently discontinued the production of Galaxy Note 7.”

The Note 7 battery issues were far from minor however, with some experiments reckoning that simply minor pressure on the battery region of the device would cause it to combust. It would strike most people as obvious that these issues be discovered within pre-production models however whether they were we won’t know, Samsung has definitely lost some significant market share with this shamble of a launch. Their stock price has been fluctuation recently due to the reports of explosions hitting major newspaper headlines as well as other media sources.

Apple has, of course, benefited massively from Samsung’s mistake with their shares up 2% for the first time since December, whereas Samsung has had over $1.8 billion wiped off of its market value. Of course, this is pocket change for these multi-billion dollar companies however it is the principle that counts.

Did you have much luck with a Note 7 or did you decide you didn’t fancy burning down your house? Leave a comment down below letting us know you’re opinion on the matter or your experience with the device.

The Apple TV was released by Apple a good few years ago, and although there were minor upgrades to bring us to the TV3, nothing as substantial as the new Apple TV4, which I’m hoping to get my hands on soon.

The ATV3’s are extremely cheap now, I managed to pick mine up for just £30 on eBay, everything included. It’s used to essentially turn my pc monitor into a TV when I’m finished working for the day and it’s time to kick back and relax, and for that it works, kind of.

Before I go on, I am fully aware of the App Store on the ATV4, however this is for people thinking about buying the ATV3.

Let’s start with the Apple classics; Music, Video and Home Sharing.

Music, great if since day 1 you have purchased your music off of the iTunes Store and no where else, you’ll have a great experience and I can’t fault it. Not so great if, like I and many others, you are subscribed to Apple Music, you’re out of luck. It is not supported on this model which is a massive let down, there is of course a work around with simply streaming from iOS or macOS, however it means it’s no longer just a standalone TV anymore.

Video, same situation really, you need to have purchased it off of the iTunes Store for it to be any use at all, otherwise you’ll just need to rely on AirPlay.

Home Sharing, now I’m sure that Apple have done some sneaky coding here because even with Home Sharing off of my main media PC which has all of my Apple Music subscription music downloaded onto it, it still can’t access it off of Home Sharing, whether this is intentional I don’t know however it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple did this deliberately to make you upgrade.

The only other apps I use are Netflix and YouTube. Netflix is great and does the job really, it streams films, perfect. YouTube likewise really, you can search and do anything basic that you’d need to do really and I can’t really fault it on that part one bit.

In my opinion, the AppleTV is not actually a TV, it works better for presentations than media. Why? I have a very good internet connection, yet streaming over AirPlay causes lag, jutter, stuttering and causes audio and video to be out of sync creating that extremely annoying experience of the actor mouthing what they are saying before you actually hear the words.

At work however, the manager will plug in the Apple TV to give a presentation from his iPad and for this it is perfect, and this is really what it is for, the media side is just an extra.

For me, I think to fully get the ‘TV’ experience I need to consider investing in the ATV4 however right now, it isn’t quite worth the price point for me.

What do you think about it? Have you had positive experiences with the Apple TV’s or do you prefer a proper, set top box? Leave a comment down below.

WiFi on iOS has always been a problem, with signal dropping and no real fix to this, it’s never been perfect. On the BigBoss repo is a solution for this.

Compatible from iOS 7 upwards to 9.3.3 (the latest supported jailbreak version), The Strongest Link essentially automatically switches to the strongest WiFi network in your location. Typically, iOS stays loyal to the network you’re on and tries to cling on until it literally cannot sustain signal anymore, and even then might try and stay through the use of Wi-Fi Assist (using up your 3G).

This tweak will not only automatically switch to the strongest network around you (providing you have previously been connected to it) but it will also enhance by default your device’s WiFi scan range. Wait a minute, how does software influence hardware.

Well, it doesn’t, however by default, iOS doesn’t always show you every single network around you, it will show you the one’s it believes it can maintain a strong connection to and then when it refreshes, it will show you more and more. Have you ever wondered why sometimes the network you’re looking for doesn’t show up immediately, well that is why.

Anyway, this tweak shows you all the networks available as well as a much more detailed description of the network including its BSSID and what type of encryption security technology it uses as well as some more information, that for the security conscious of you may be necessary.

As well as this, have you ever been in that situation where you’re logged into a WiFi network and someone wants the code but you can’t remember it? Luckily, as long as you have logged in successfully before, ‘The Strongest Link’ will show you the password in plain, unencrypted format for you to either input onto another device or give to a friend in desperate need of access to the WiFi.

Is ‘The Strongest Link’ something you think you’ll be using or would you rather just keep it old school with iOS’s default method? Try it out on the BigBoss repo and drop a comment below about your experience with it.

Today Apple dropped the latest betas to developers for iOS 10.1, watchOS 3.1 and MacOS 10.12.1

With no major new features in the change log for the second beta’s, these are relatively small updates however.

The biggest update for iOS 10.1 is the Portrait mode for the new iPhone 7 Plus allowing for a DSLR like quality for depth of field.

Of course, there will be other improvements under the hood with a couple of minor improvements already popping up in the Messages app relating to stickers. Nothing major, but the software engineers are definitely still hard at work!

iOS 10 was a huge update this year which allowed a much needed open-door to developers to integrate their apps deeper into iOS. Now apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype, thanks to CallKit you can receive calls using the standard iOS call visuals as well as quick replies in messages. Not only this but opening up Siri allows for you to send WhatsApp’s etc using Siri, simply say “Siri, send a WhatsApp to Tim saying Lunch at 2?”. Normally this works without a hitch but I still find myself going into the app to check that it has sent properly as I still have my doubts.

For watchOS this increment is fairly insignificant and mostly contains software performances to make it run a little bit smoother, something which the original generation Apple Watch definitely needs! If you find a new feature in this increment drop a comment below.

Don’t forget after all that watchOS 3 brought us some fairly significant improvements including SOS, Scribble Replies as well as locally stored apps and, of course, some new watch faces!

macOS also hasn’t seen anything major in this beta with performance improvements a guaranteed and no reported major changes or visual changes. However there has been support added for the new Portrait mode within the Photos application. This was also released for the participants of the Public Beta which suggests that a Public Beta will soon be available for watchOS and iOS.

macOS Sierra provided not only a new name to fall in line with the rest of the OS’s but also some well-needed additions such as Siri (although I still don’t use it that much myself) along with security improvements as well.

Announced today on EE’s official Twitter page, the brand new Pixel and Pixel XL phones by Google are only going to be available from EE starting out. Of course, it will be available on places such as eBay however this is definitely a major way for Google and EE to boost their sales. As EE is made up of T Mobile the connection is clear.

The brand new Pixel phones come packed with some great new technology which, Google aim will help beat the competition, mainly Samsung and Apple as they’re now running their own software, on their own hardware. Sound familiar *cough Apple*.

Sporting the new USB Type-C connector, an amazing new 12 MP camera, 4GB of RAM along with a astonishingly beautiful looking unibody with a great looking display, this device definitely has the potential to be a massive hit!

Combating the feared move over from platforms, Google have created a tool that lets people “transfer contacts, photos, videos, music, texts and even your iMessages.” The idea is you literally plug in the phones together and it will do all this, if it does that will definitely be cool and perhaps we’ll see a change in platforms from!

Google are also introducing their new fingerprint sensor, dubbed the ‘Pixel Imprint’ along with a metric tonne of other great new features.

Combined with this is the additional software extras that Google are including, attempting to truly revolutionize the Android phone platform. They’re allowing an unlimited, full resolution backup plan for all Pixel users so your photos are safely stored in the Cloud. As many, for as long as, you like. iCloud, take note!

Also, unlike normal with Android where you have to wait for your network operator to release the software update, Google are making a ground breaking step within the Android platform to allow the updates to come straight from them via OTA packages, which means Pixel users will now always have the latest and greatest in software.

This is just a tiny taster of what’s now available including 24 hour live video tech support, astonishingly large batteries, fast charging, Virtual Reality compatibility and more, could this be the next flagship?

According to Japanese blog MacOtakara, Apple are planning to ship three brand new iPad Pro models in the Spring of 2017 with a 7.9, 9.7 and 12.9 inch model to complete their lineup.

The blog post claimed that ‘reliable sources’ had told them that the 12.9 inch flagship model would feature Apple’s new True Tone display technology, just like the relatively new 9.7 inch model. This includes using very advanced ambient light sensors which automatically adapt the colour and the intensity of the display brightness depending on the surrounding environment.

The re-vamped 12.9 inch model is also claimed to feature the new 9.7 inches 12 megapixel rear iSight camera and the rear True Tone flash, designed to make the lighting much more natural when taking photos in low-light environments.

The new, rumoured 7.9 inch model, which is likely to be the successor of the iPad mini generation, will most liekely include the smart connector featured on the other two Pro devices allowing for keyboard and other accessories to connect to. The reason for this is so Apple could standardise their entire iPad lineup. Is this the start of the end of any non-Pro devices?

Controversially however, these new Pro models will retain their 3.5mm headphone jacks which has just been released from Apple’s flagship device, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. It is also likely that the new iPad’s will gain quad microphones to allow for stereo recording, to improve the current dual system.

According to KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo however, Apple could just be planning on naming the 2 larger devices as their Pro models with the smaller one to retain some advanced features but be removed from a Pro lineup, however this wouldn’t make much sense if they’re trying to standardise the lineup.

MacOtakara doesn’t have a perfect history with Apple rumours however it has been right on previous occasions, and this is a very believable rumour due to the way that Apple didn’t update their iPad lineup this year (so far) and this does follow in the direction that they are heading in anyway.

What do you think? Do you think the new iPad Pro lineup is going to be a hit or is it an unnecessary revamp. What features would you like to see on the next generation of iPads?
