<description>Should you as a patient be offered the option to see what’s on the screen? Do patients think that this information is any different from a paper with a list of medical findings which are often gibberish to anyone outside the field of medicine? Recently, researchers at the University of Louisville began addressing these issues through a survey of 250 patients and family members. The survey sought to assess their perceptions of physicians using PDA’s / smartphones in their presence.

<description>Here at iMedicalApps, we are strong believers that mobile technology can make a significant, measurable, positive impact on medical education. From the enhanced visuals for anatomy, to medical journals, to the proliferation of interactive textbooks such as those offered by Inkling and more recently, the iBook. One of the first medical iBooks was prominently featured on iMedicalApps and highly successful in demonstrating the power of Apple&amp;#8217;s iBooks Author as a platform. iMedicalApps is pleased to announce that another free medical [...]

<description>In 2010, the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) issued its first national broadband plan, which included a proposal for a “medical body area network” (MBAN). Specific frequencies would be assigned for medical wireless monitoring. In May, 2012, FCC issued proposed rules for these MBAN systems, providing a platform for wirelessly networking patient sensors. After initially raising concerns about radio interference, the Aerospace and Flight Test Radio Coordinating Counsel (AFTRCC) appears now to be collaborating with health institutions to allow spectrum allocation for MBANs, an important and positive development.
