Finally, after a long wait of two years, Maxis announced they will be launching the Apple iPhone 3G here in Malaysia. Are we backwater or what? Better late than never, though!

Last week, when we had the good news that the iPhone will finally be here, all I was interested to know was what the plans and rates by Maxis will be like. I know quite a number of Maxis users who think that Maxis rates aren’t the best in Malaysia. I, a Celcom subscriber, on the other hand, think that Celcom is a worse blood sucker!
<p<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 144px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6ZhAAN5xNBU/Sb3A0Fgk7RI/AAAAAAAADbY/n6twyDyO8HY/s320/6+month+contract.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313615136431598866" />

Well, Maxis has prepared three different plans for iPhone 3G; with 6-month, 12-month and 24-month contracts. On the surface, the rates may seem really affordable but my discontentment is with the fact that we are not allowed to use the minimum commitment fee on whatever Maxis service we like and then pay for any extras exceeding the minimum monthly fee.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 158px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6ZhAAN5xNBU/Sb3A0OC0CdI/AAAAAAAADbg/8BLvMG2Uf7E/s320/12+month+contract.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313615138722679250" />

If Maxis would allow this flexibility, I wouldn’t mind signing a new contract with Maxis to take advantage of their iPhone 3G plan and legally too, upgrading from my *ahem* iPhone 2G. I wouldn’t even mind that they do not allow porting of our old numbers to Maxis, which means that all iPhone 3G users will have a 012 prefix.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 159px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6ZhAAN5xNBU/Sb3A0AFsdqI/AAAAAAAADbo/RJrGXGNdF4w/s320/24+month+contract.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313615134976669346" />

Those who are interested to subscribe to Maxis iPhone 3G plan will have until 17th March, 2009 (11.59pm) to book an invitation to the official Apple iPhone Malaysia launch event at the KL Convention Centre on 20th March, 2009.

It has been a long time since I blogged her. Many things have happened over the days, including the sale of unlocked iPhones in Hong Kong, a very promising move for the rest of the market, but I shall not backtrack.

The latest development with the iPhone is the release of the much improved Google Earth for iPhone, which one could download from the iPhone Apps Store for free.

I have not downloaded it because even with Google Earth on my desktop, I have trouble viewing the zooming images, which makes my head spin and I would feel nauseous, then! I do, however, have the original copy of Google Maps on my iPhone which is sufficient for me for the time being.
