Jeremiah 33:1-33

1 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him a second time: 2 “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it the Lord is his name: 3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ 4 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege ramps and the sword 5 in the fight with the Babylonians: ‘They will be filled with the dead bodies of the people I will slay in my anger and wrath. I will hide my face from this city because of all its wickedness.

6 “‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. 7 I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before. 8 I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. 9 Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.’

10 “This is what the Lord says: ‘You say about this place, “It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.” Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more 11 the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord, saying,

“Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.” For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,’ says the Lord.

Reflection:

Things at times may not look as bright as you wish them to be.

We all have a tendency to ask ourselves, didn't God promise me a prosperous future? didn't he promise me that my burdens will be light? didn't he promise me that everywhere my feet tread he will give to me? Well, why do I find myself chained up, limited, entrapped, or not going anywhere?

The prophet Jeremiah is no novice to asking himself these questions or finding himself in predicaments which were way beyond what God had promised him or the people of Israel where they would be. Even though this message was promised weeks if not months after the great message of Jeremiah 29 (I know the plans I have for you), the prophet finds himself chained to a brick wall with his liberties taken away.

You see, there are many times in our faith journey that everything that is happening is contrary to popular demand. It seems as though the harder you try the harder it gets. But there are several benefits that are hard to identify when facing trials, and one of those benefits is the building of a Godly character. You see, this prophet was not only a prophet (one who hears and speaks for God) in public, or while his liberty is intacted. But, he continues to be a prophet while his liberties are taken away. He never stops hearing from God, nor does he shrink back every time God promises him and/or his people something which seems impossible to believe. No, he writes this message in the midst of great difficultly as he humbles himself to seek the voice of the only one who could hear him or rescue him.

For those who are trained to listen to the Word of the Lord or his voice, there is nothing greater, or more inspiring, or soothing to the soul then the voice of your maker. He has ways to transform your difficulties into hope. Here in this message God promises a full restoration to Israel (God's promised people) as they journey through life's greatest valleys as well as life's greatest mountains. He invites each one of them to "call upon him" and the God who created the mouth will speak. He promises that he "will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Nothing is more needed when you have no one to talk to, when life's door is closing in on you, and there seems to be no way. In this New Year, listen to the voice of the Lord, and humble yourself to him. You never know what you will hear!!

A Poem to God

Psalms 45:1-7

1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. 2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

3 Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. 4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds. 5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Reflection:

Have you ever had the chance to put the brakes on your daily routines, and stop to wonder about the awesomeness of our God? Have you ever considered giving to God rather then receiving from God? Is there something that you can offer God today simply because he is God?

The Bible and history teaches us that there was a peculiar family by the name of "Korah" or the "sons of Korah" (like most peculiar families around us today :) ) that were called to serve God full time in the Sanctuary. They were chosen by God to represent him, serve him and minister unto him with thanksgiving, praise and shouts of joy. Many remember the "sons of Korah" for their rebellion later in the pages of history but for one simple moment I would like to focus on the "sons of Korah" for their commitment, for their sacrifice and for the climax of their family history. For we all have family history we don't want to remember this thanksgiving holiday, but not all is doom but rather like most of us we can find some good pages in our family history that can brighten up our days and make us smile.

You see there is good in most people, I even believe that there is good in everyone. As I contemplate through the pages of my own life, I can stop to remember that while we are still alive there is hope for change, hope for healing, and even hope for deliverance. God never "gives up "on what he created, and as the "sons of Korah" experienced, there was a moment in history where psalms (prayerful songs) can only describe the beauty and goodness of God in their lives.

Psalms 45 describes the intimacy of their thoughts, the passionate love for their God, and their gratefulness for his unending covenant with his people. The director of music is overwhelmed with the balm of gratitude that allows him to see images of a coming Savior and King. He rejoices in this kingdom which is based on justice, peace and joy. He embraces by faith the moral rise of a God (Jesus) who hates wickedness and is bathed in the anointing of joy. This is my God, this is your God, can you see him today?

I invite you to take this moment right now and close your eyes to think optimistically, to think about the subtle moments in life where technology, the busyness of life, and the responsibilities of paying your bills has vanished. Give Jesus your attention for one moment and give him your praise this thanksgiving holidays. Write him a psalm, write him a poem, and give him something worth while as you honor him at your dinner tables. He is God and he is worthy of praise!

Prisoner of Joy

Philippians 1:3-11

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Reflection:

When we read the bible and meditate on it's words we should also consider the history, the geography, the demographics and the culture of the people which the Bible is addressing or revealing. The story of Paul and this wonderful letter (epistle) to the Church at Philippi begins not on a mountain top overseeing the see of Galilee, nor does it begin on the vast hills with newly born lambs running up and down a green pasture to meet their shepherd. No, it begins in a dark cave, as a man of God is imprisoned by a society who hates "Good News". You see the Romans didn't imprison Paul because of a heinous crime but rather for spreading the liberating news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Have you ever been around people or have participated in a culture of people who just hates "good news"? They have been so cultivated in bad news that just the mention of "good news" becomes a crime!

Paul found himself in a dungeon with his ankles chained awaiting his release, because after all he was innocent in the eyes of God, but guilty in the eyes of man. He didn't scream, he didn't cry, he didn't give up hope nor did he wave the white towel and surrender his faith to the overwhelming circumstances that can plague an individual facing prison time in the hands of an enemy. This Godly hero begins his letter thanking God for the people he has been able to serve. His mind was not on his circumstance, nor was it in a 5 by 10 cell with the damp smell of muddy water. No, he thanks God for every moment he had to serve the people of God. He learns the importance of prayer since he has no one to talk to, no one to sing with, no one to encourage him. You see his prayer is not the type of prayer of someone helpless nor hopeless but one who knows his God and says " I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel". He loses no confidence in the character and faithfulness of God because after all he clearly understood that his "apostolic call" would probably invite death to constantly knock on his door.

Paul was confident, he was determined, he was convinced and he was emotional about his God and the message that he had the privilege of sharing. He completes his dissertation similar to the way he began this letter - in prayer. Stating that the most important essence, and experience that anyone who suffers similar circumstances should seek and acquire is the divine love of Christ and the knowledge that produces the fruit of righteousness among the brethren.

You see I am convinced of this, that people who are afraid, imprisoned, confused, hurt, hopeless and angry just need one thing, a taste of the divine love that comes from the throne of God. If you find yourself in similar circumstances I challenge you to seek the face of Jesus and ask him for the anointing of his divine love that flows continually from his heart to yours!

A Different Rich Man

Luke 19:1-10

1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.

5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Reflection:

The Lord wants you to know, he never saved you to leave you the same way he found you!

The wonderful message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that the message found within holy scripture is not only words of faith, affirmation, promises, blessings, salvation and/or grace. But, it is a message about a father's love, a son's obedience, and the Holy Spirit and his desire to dwell in the life of all believer's.

The "good news" is not bad news. It is not only for those faint hearted or broken hearted. You don't have to always be in misery to worship or serve God. The "good news" has been written for the rich and poor, the young and old, the short and tall, and even the big or small. God says in Proverb 22:2 "The rich and the poor have a common bond, The LORD is the maker of them all". Jesus wants all those listening to know that he is moved by faith. This young rich man named Zacchaeus was found in a city called Jericho, God has an incredible way of setting the stage for a miracle. You see Jericho was a city known for it's walls and God has always had an incredible ability to walk through walls, or tare them down. This city was not only the stage of Old Testament miracle, but the location of a New Testament revelation.

You see the Word of God makes clear that Zacchaeus even though being wealthy, strong, fast and wise he still had barriers or walls to climb or to break in his life. He is like many of us who don't find himself or herself in desperate need for God to manifest himself. He is not someone who is bankrupted or in his or her last leg of the race. But, one thing is clear he still has this innate eagerness to know Christ and the beauty of his bountiful mercy. His "desire" was all he needed to move the heart of God. Amazed by his willingness to outrun, climb and position himself to meet his Savior, Jesus stop's and looks up at this man that the bible described "small in stature."

For the first time in his life, this young tax collector will not be known or remembered for his incredible ability to collect Roman taxes, but rather for the faith and his willingness to be changed by the presence of Jesus Christ. A simple but passionate invitation of Jesus was enough to change Zacchaeus life, bring him to his knees of conviction, and bring forth an action that will bring salvation to his house and to all who would read his story.

If you find yourself not in need of God because everything is swell, then I challenge you to rethink or consider the message of Zacchaeus. You don't have to be in misery to worship and serve God!

Cutting the cords of Shame & Condemnation

John 8:1-11

1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Reflection:

Are you free from your past? Are you living out the full potential of Christ in your life? Or are there still things that echo through your mind when trying to live for Jesus that causes you to stumble?

The story of the adulterous women found in the scripture above really hits closer to home then you think. You see, the adulterous woman reflects all of us. She is a child of God who finds herself indulged in practices which she was never designed for. She is a fertile vessel, designed to be in covenant with God but because of past and present practices she has broke her "covenant" with her husband (Christ). You see this woman can be you, it could be the Church, it can anyone who is currently a "covenant breaker."

Because she was caught in her sin, she was presented to Jesus. But Jesus understands her, he forgives her, he knows her history, he knows her present, he knows what has made her indulge in a practice that violates her innocence and condemns her to shame. Jesus bends down and begins to write, like the one who wrote the "Ten Commandments" with his finger, or wrote the writings on the wall in the Book of Daniel. He writes, he writes because he is an author, he is the perfecter of our faith.

The story ends with forgiveness, with reconciliation, with purpose, and with freedom. You see the only way to live out your experience with Christ, and the salvation he offers is to understand that he will never condemn those who are found in him. Shame and condemnation is the fruit of the "fallen man" in the Garden of Eden, but Christ came to restore all things unto himself.

If you find yourself being a "covenant breaker" or indulging in sins that separate you from the love and protection of God, Jesus invites you to embrace his forgiveness no matter how shameful your sins are or were. He desires to cover your shame and condemnation with grace and forgiveness so that you may live a free life in him. There is only one final command though, “Go now and sin no more.”

What is the will of God for My Life?

Ephesians 5:15-20

15 Be very careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflection:

There is nothing more frustrating in life than wondering around, spending our time and energy without direction or purpose. To often we hunger for a clear picture of what our future looks like through the eyes of God, and what does he really want from us. The last time I took my son to the doctor, I sat on the edge of my chair hoping that the physician attending to my son would give me the right prescription so that my son's health will improve. I had no doubt that the hard work of the physician and the knowledge he possessed can quickly help resolve the problem with my son's ailing body. In the same way, God has a prescription for our lives to live with maximum purpose and direction. The Word of God is our compass, and our hope should be that if we apply the remedies prescribed in his Word we will see the outcome and evidence of his promises.

The will of God for your life is provided in Scripture as the following:

1. Rejoice Always, pray continually, give thanks in all

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - "16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

2. Have eternal life

John 6:40 "For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

3. Good health, all goes well with you, and your soul

3 John 1:2 "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."

4. Blessed, favor, abundance

Deuteronomy 28:3-6 "You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. 4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. 5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. 6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out."

5. Be Sanctified

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 - "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified"

6. Keep doing good

1 Peter 2:15 "For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people."

7. To be sons of God

Ephesians 1:5 "He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved."

8. That no one should perish

Matthew 18:14 "So it is the will of my Father who is in heaven that not one of these little ones should perish."

Ten 10 Commandments in Church Finding

Church finding and christian fellowship is fundamental and paramount in the life of a believer. We at I AM Ministries believe that finding the right Church for your spiritual growth is the most important decision you will make aside from receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. There are ten very important questions that you should ask yourself before joining a Church. These ten questions and answers will determine whether you have found the right Church for you and your family. We pray that where ever the Lord leads you to congregate that you grow in the truth, love, and power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here they are........

Question 1: Is it a Gospel Centered Church?

The will of God is that you find a place where your spiritual food will produce good spiritual fruit. In all dietary disciplines a person becomes what he or she eats.

Matthew 16:13-20 “Is Jesus Christ the Son of God?”

3 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 - “Itching ears”

1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and discharge all the duties of your ministry.

2 Timothy 3:10-17 - “All Scripture is God Breathed”

10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Acts 20:25-28 - “Full counsel (will) of God”

25 “Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. 26 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. 27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. 28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

Question 2: Is it a place you can call “home”?

It is the will of God that the place you will worship, fellowship and partake of God’s Word is a place that you feel at home. A place and fellowship that you feel acknowledged, appreciated and part of a spiritual family.

Psalms 84:1-12 - “A place call home”

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! 2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.

8 Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. 9 Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. 12 Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.

Question 3: Do you believe and agree with the purpose or mission of the Church?

It is the will of God that you believe and agree with the purpose of the Church you will be attending and serving in. The purpose or mission of the church is the course of action and the steering by which the Church will strive to build the Kingdom of God personally, corporately, locally, and globally. If the course by which your Church is steering is different from the “course” or “beat of drum” which you are accustomed to, or looking to take, it is inevitable that your journey will experience many bumps and bruises along the way. The Church of your choosing should be a place where your personal “mission” should be fulfilled through the corporate “mission” or “purpose” of the Church.

Our Church’s purpose statement:

I AM Ministries is a Gospel Centered Church that makes disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, teaching everyone to live a life in reverence and worship to God, and love through service to it's community locally and abroad.

John 14:1-7 - “I AM the Way”

1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Acts 2:42-47 - “Share a common purpose and vision”

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Question 4: Is there an opportunity to grow and mature spiritually (discipleship)?

The Lord’s will is that you grow and mature in the faith and grace, to fulfill the purpose for which he has saved you in Christ Jesus. Every individual has a “calling” and/or “purpose” for which he or she will give an account for, and that will require the necessary discipline to fulfill it. Growing in discipleship is essential in attaining the necessary discipline to fulfill your call.

Matthew 28:16-20 - “A Church that disciples”

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Philippians 3:7-16 - “Press on toward the prize”

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

Question 5: Does the Church practice and believe in the active presence of the Holy Spirit?

The Lord’s will is that each person in Christ Jesus be baptized in the Holy Spirit so that he or she may produce spiritual fruit and be effective in ministry and in testimony.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 - “Spirit filled”

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Question 6: Does the Church encourage and practice Worship

It is the will of God that each believer grows in his or her intimacy with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. All acts of ministry, song, service, fellowship, giving, and/or offering is the way we practice our spiritual act of worship. The more your intimacy in God grows, the more godliness and fruitfulness is found in the life of a believer.

John 4:19-26 “Encourages Worship”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

Question 7: Does the Church have a local and global desire to evangelize and practice missions”?

It is the will of Jesus Christ that you tell and share the Good News of the Gospel with the world. For the bride of Christ is built locally but also engaged globally. Seeing and partaking of souls repenting and turning to the Lord for Salvation is the commission of every believer and Church, and for which heaven rejoices.

Acts 1: 4-9 “A Church that evangelizes & sends to missions”

4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

Question 8: Did Jesus call you there?

It is the will of God that you find a place where Christ has called you to grow and serve. A place where you are part of God’s spiritual family, and where you can use your spiritual gifts and talents to build the Kingdom of God.

John 10:22-30 “The Voice of your Pastor”

22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.

Ephesians 4:11-16 - “Joined and held together by supporting ligaments”

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Question 9: Does your Church have a Statement of Faith (What they believe)?

It is important when choosing a Church that you become familiar with their “purpose” and “what the Church believes”. This will help you identify denominational values, doctrinal differences, and ecclesiastical Church structure and governance. Please be sure to avoid any so called church that practices occultist, heresy, or apostasy practices.

Acts 20:25-35 - “Savage Wolves”

25 “Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. 26 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. 27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. 28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

32 “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Question 10: Does your Church practice and believe in Salvation through faith and grace in Jesus Christ?

It is the will of God that you come to know Christ through his saving grace on Calvary. Trying to earn your way to heaven, or build a personal relationship with God without believing in his saving grace (unmerited favor) will lead you down a religious path. It is the will of God that you be trained up and encouraged in the “divine grace” which is a free gift from God the father through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2:1-10 - “Salvation through faith and grace”

1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions it is by grace you have been saved.

6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Breaking the Spirit of Poverty 1

We would like to begin by encouraging you to sit back and take a moment, a moment to identify any area of your life where you may be struggling and/or wrestling with a lack of God's provision. It could be in the areas of your finances, relationships, un-forgiveness, emotional health, mental health, or something as simple as self control or enjoying a level of peace. If you can identify with any of these symptoms we want to welcome you to the ranks of those who may be suffering from a spirit called poverty :)

We want you to know that "poverty" takes on many forms, even some of the wealthiest people in the world suffer from a lack of spiritual and emotional stability and even at times mental health. The information that we will be providing is to diagnose and solve this reality with the truth of the Gospel. This is not a prosperity message, but rather a Gospel message that God wants to see you prosper as much as your soul prospers. So put on your hats and take this journey with us as we indulge into battle to rid ourselves of this spirit called "poverty".

The very first step in breaking the "Spirit of Poverty" is to identify that "Poverty" is not simply a lack of finances, material gain or a lack of mental stability, it is a Spirit. There is an entity, which the Bible states, desires to devour the blessings of your family, your children and your children' children. I do not want to seem overly spiritual, but if we disregard this first fact, that there is an entity who desires to steal, kill and destroy your dreams, your hopes, your faith, and even your finances we are blind of the truth that will set us free. As a Pastor I want you to know that there are external forces working against you trying to disrupt your effectiveness in the Kingdom of God and the opportunity to bless others. I say all this not to bring fear to your hearts but to strengthen you in the truth that some of what is happening to you may not be the fault of your own. In later lessons we will be discussing attitudes, behaviors, and habits that can lead to poverty, but at this moment we want to address the truth of our adversary.

I have seen throughout my many years in ministry that many of God's greatest generals within the Kingdom of God will struggle, if not face this enemy named poverty. It disguises itself as self pity, righteous sacrifice, and even takes the form of self denial. There are many times when these excuses become our reasoning to embrace or make sense of what is happening to us while serving God with all of our hearts and even with our finances. As a Church Planter, my wife and I know very well what it is to empty out our accounts and live within our means for the sake of the Gospel. We understand what is means to not enjoy a simple meal at the local fast food restaurant because we didn't have the means to even provide. I, myself, have faced this enemy and I would like to encourage you to do the same. My purpose for this post is not to impart a spirit of self pity but to recognize and cause you to wake up. There are struggles and/or patterns which you must recognize and become resiliently angry about. The Word of God states that people perish for lack of knowledge. Receive this knowledge today and break the spirit of poverty in your life. Remember, only the truth of Christ will set you free. And the truth is "Christ became poor so that you may have life and have it more abundantly!

Reflection:

While you are awaiting for your unanswered prayer, do not forget any of his benefits.
While your children are serving or not serving the Lord, do not forget any of his benefits.
While you are pressured or concerned about today, do not forget any of his benefits.
While you are building a ministry or assisting one, do not forget any of his benefits.
While you are growing rich or living by means, do not forget any of his benefits.
While people come in and out of your life, do not forget any of his benefits.
In all that you do, think, and feel never forget any of his benefits.

In a time when doing what is right, and serving the Lord has become scarcely difficult to many. We must always remember to prioritize our lives and mind according to scriptural truth. King David reminded himself that there is eternal profit, divine benefits in praising and serving the Lord God. Perhaps you don't have the latest car, or the million dollar house, perhaps your dreams seems almost impossible to accomplish, perhaps you are just waiting for some supernatural event to intervene in your life and rescue you from your turmoil. But, let me remind you according to God's truth that there is more to life than just material prosperity. There is a never ending truth that God will redeem you and crown you with love and compassion. You will rise again and your sins will be forgiven forever. Live in this truth when your soul is bankrupted, and you shall see that you are richer than you think!

God Whisper

1 Kings 19:11-13

11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Reflection:

What has God said to you? Has he spoken to you? Has it been hard to hear God? Has God's voice been muffled by the storms of life, and the uncertainty of tomorrow? There are times in life when it seems almost impossible to hear God. When the cold nights are prolonged by the brisk of a winter breeze, and your soul longs for comfort, if not a warm fire or an encouraging friend. As a seasoned christian I can tell you I have witnessed these moments many times before, and these are the very moments that exercises our faith and prompts us to draw closer to God.

There are always highs and lows in ministry, in life, and in our daily affairs. Just like the great prophet Elijah whose name means "Yaweh is my God". He had been destined to live life passionately, he had reach the height of his call, a man who trained his ear to listen to God, who was anointed to speak for God, and who can call fire from heaven or cause a drought by a simple spoken word from his lips. Elijah's convictions were real, he was passionate, he was convinced and he was on a divine mission. But, like many of us, he had his moments where running seemed like the best option, when hiding seems like the only solution, and where an overly pompous view of himself led him to know how weak he really was.

In the cave is where this story begins, and I can tell you many prophets are hiding in caves throughout the world silenced by their fragility and fearful of their speech. God had told Elijah to stand on the mountain, to remove himself from the cave and stand upon the obstacles that obscure his vision. Mountains are designed to be conquered and God did not tell him to kneel on the mountain, or lay on the mountain, but to stand on the mountain. As God prepared himself to pass Elijah by, the Word says that three events took place. First, a strong wind passed by, this wind represents the incredible hurricanes that wist away your hopes and blows away your dreams and everything you believe in (please notice the wind was so strong it shattered the rocks). Secondly, an earthquake jolted the core of the earth and rattled Elijah causing devastation and uncertainty as continued tremors will cause our soul to shake. Finally a fire was ignited, and this fire breathing prophet had known very well that Moses had seen a fire, and that God had answered his own prayers as fire had consumed the sacrifice on the alter. The interesting part of this scripture is that God said he was in none of these events. Sometimes we look for God in miracles, in signs and in wonders. But God said he can been found and heard through a whisper of his voice. You see, when our trust and faith is based on miracles we forget that God is only true to his Word. Jesus said in Luke 4:4 "Man does not live by bread and water alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God". He didn't say miracle, he didn't say fire, nor wind, nor earthquake he said Word.

If you are feeling weak, be comforted and know that you have joined a cloud of witnesses that have experienced the same winter. It dawned on me the other day, if God is silent maybe he wants to grab your attention. Maybe he wants you and I to draw closer and share our innermost thoughts, concerns, desires or prayers. Or just maybe he wants you and I to listen more intently. I encourage you to go invest time with God this week and silence your cell phones, your tvs, your radio, or even your thoughts. Take a walk, drink a coffee, drive a car, or take a retreat but invest time with God and let him whisper direction and hope for your life and new year. Incline your ears to him today and listen to what God wants to say to you, you may just hear him!

Perfect

Reflections

In a time of change, turmoil and uncertainty there is one assuring and inspiring truth that will harness your thoughts, emotions, and decisions. It will create order and give you the necessary structure to begin your year with purpose and clarity. If you desire this remedy, you will have to settle your biases with God and accept one incredibly refreshing truth - that is that his "law is perfect".

Everyone needs to learn how to govern and conduct themselves in times of insurmountable differences, the word law is defined as "a set of rules and/or guidelines which empowers an individual, people, or society to govern". Structure and stability are vital in the midst of changes, the Word of God says that his Law (Word) is perfect and it has no loopholes or downfalls, it is dependable, reliable and trustworthy just as much as the creator himself. It will revive your soul, make you wise, bring joy to your heart, give vision and clarity to your eyes and reward you. If you can believe it, you should read it!

Take time today to indulge in the goodness of his Word, and refresh your thoughts with his perfect Law. Let the God of the universe establish his ordinances in your life and watch as your world is healed and established on certainty and impenetrable hope.

"Praise" the Instrument of War

Reflection

Today, if you are facing circumstances beyond your control, God has a word for you!

If you find yourself shaken or even fainting there is a "Rhema Word" that can restore your joy, and place you once again in your rightful place with Christ. The most important ingredient in every miracle, in every breakthrough, and in every blessing is the measure of your "spiritual appetite". God knows very well how to feed his sheep, his riches are endless and his answers to your problems have already been provided. I read something the other day that I would like to share with you so that you may be blessed, and it reads like this..... "the Gospel is God's gift to you, what you do with the Gospel is your gift to God". God desires to bless you with a fresh anointing so that you may have hope, are you hungry for God?

As the great Psalmist "David" uttered his deepest groaning in a songful prayer, he understood that his God would never abandon nor forsaken him. David understood that regardless of the great circumstances that awaited him, his God was worthy to be exalted. I would like to tell you that there is a "shout" that will break open the windows of heavens for you today. This "shout" is not a scream - but a clamor. A declaration of what you know and not what you feel. David taught us that in the midst of his greatest adversities, a prayerful Song could reach the heart of God. Clam your joy and your victory with shouts of "praise"!

As you do so, you will immediately sense your heart shift, your joy return, and your hopes energized. David learned the secret of War through praise! For praise and worship is for God's Glory, but for your Victory!

Make all things new

Revelations 21:1-5

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Reflections

The book of Revelations is an unveiling truth of the absolute victory which is to beget the Church and believers throughout the world and history. For as I turn the pages to find this scripture I came to realize that it is found at the end of the Holy bible. Now, that may sound superficial to many but this marked my memory for life. As a student of God's Word I came to realize that the author of this wonderful book (God) always planned a dramatic conclusion. A conclusion called to many believers "the blessed hope".

You see, for anyone who enjoys reading or simply going to the movies, we purchase a book or a ticket for the simple reason of learning or entertaining our thirst for knowledge or pleasure. But, the greatest scenario has already been determined, decreed and written. There is an end and climax which is unparalleled, the story of life ends in "victory".

I have a particular sign on the door of my refrigerator which says "What would you do, if you know you can not fail?". Well that statement is absolutely true and guaranteed in the pages of the bible for those who believe. The Apostle John was given the opportunity to envision and see what is going to happen in the future (revelation), as he was exiled to die on the island of Patmos. He could have rendered the white banner and lifted up his hands to declare, surrender. But you see, he had already surrendered his life to Jesus and therefore was gifted with the wonderful opportunity to see life in a different perspective. He may have been exiled but he "John" will be crowned with victory. I read a wonderful statement the other day on facebook which read "your circumstances do not determine your destiny". Well John understood that he didn't have to pay a ticket or purchase a book, because the price had already been paid by the precious blood of Jesus. He just needed to understand that he (John) was in the midst of life's drama and the pages was the summary of his journey with God. For his name (purpose) had already been determined and written within the pages and truth of God's Word. What is your purpose, or where is your name in God's Word?

There is an end, and it is a marvelous one! Where perfect harmony and peace will reign, and our blessed King will rule with power and might. All life's agony will seize, and all that you have once dreamed of will come to pass. I encourage you to partake of this truth, do not surrender to life's problems or circumstances but surrender to the author of life. The story of your life has just begun, and as the author of life says “I am making everything new!”, begin your day receiving forgiveness for your sins and let God direct your steps to total victory in Christ. This revelation was not only for the "end times", but it can be experienced today in your spirit. For the Word of God is spirit, and so let this speak to your inner man or inner woman. Let God make all things new today!

Radical Christianity

Acts 2:14-18

14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.

Reflection:

There comes a time in a Christian's life that he or she must go beyond being "lukewarm". A time when you and I are "tired, of being sick and tired". God is calling for a generation of Christians that are no longer afraid of what people think, nor are they afraid of confronting a culture which is spiritually deprived. We are so hungry to see God, and his love being poured on his people and sinners alike that we will confront sin, and love the sinner through the preaching of truth. A truth that is anchored in love!

Peter had gone through his discipleship, and now it was time to stand up for what he had just witnessed for the last three years. Peter could not deny the miracles and the power of his Savior as he stood before him after the resurrection. He could no longer deny that he had witnessed the greatest sacrifice ever known to mankind. His friend, his Savior, his God had been mutilated with the pounding of insults, whips and curses let alone the crucifixion on a cross. He had come to a place in his life where he would have to make the most powerful gesture or motion which would transform the world and launch the very first Church in the bible. Peter stood on his feet, in this posture he stood up for what he had believed and witnessed. He was empowered by on high to speak like no other man had preached before, so powerful was his words that three thousand (3000) souls were saved moments after his five minute utterance.

Standing is a posture of warfare, a posture of conviction, a posture of action. God never requires of his servants to sit down, nor lay down but to stand in the midst of adversity, to stand in the midst of trial, and to stand in the midst of war. For he will go before us, and he will defeat our enemies, just stand!

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Reflection:

There is nothing like a newness of heart. A heart refreshed, inspired, and in love with God. Where your circumstances are melted away by the knowing that, God is in control and that he is fathering us into a nation of priests which are holy and acceptable. The kind of love that calls you and I "children of the most high God".

I ask that you take a moment to humble yourself, and lay your burdens at the feet of your Savior Jesus Christ. Allow all your circumstances to be brushed away, by the manifest presence of a living God and Savior who desires to fill your life with goodness and favor. There are many times that in the weathering and seasoning of our Christianity, we have allowed our eyes to focus on the daily interactions of culture and society, yet forgetting the most interactive experience and that is with our beloved Lord and Savior Jesus. Let me just take a moment to remind you why you should fall "in love with Jesus" all over again!

A simple summary of Scripture:

a. In Matthew: He is king of the Jews.

b. In Mark: He is the Great servant.

c. In Luke: He is the Son of Man, feeling what you feel.

d. In John: He is the Son of God.

e. In Acts: He is Savior of the world.

f. In Romans: He is the righteousness of God.

g. 1 Corintians: He is the nuestra rock

h. 2 Corintians: He the triumphant one, your victory.

i. In Galatians: He is your liberty; He sets you free.

j. In Ephesians: He is head of the Church.

k. In Phillipians: He is your joy.

l. In Colossians: He is your Shalom, completeness.

m. In 1 Thessalonians: He is your hope.

n. In 2 Thessalonians: He is your glory.

o. In 1 Timothy: He is your faith.

p. In 2 Timothy: He is your stability.

q. In Titus: He is the reason you serve.

r. In Philemon: he is our provider.

s. In Hebrews: He is your perfection.

t. In James: He is the all powerful

u. In 1 Peter: He is your example or model.

v. In 2 Peter: He is your Holy God who sanctifies us.

w. In 1 John: He is your life.

x. In 2 Juan: He is your pattern.

y. In 3 Juan, He is your motivation.

z. In Jude: He is the foundation of your faith.

aa. Revelations: his is the Great King to come.

Revived Heart

Romans 2: 28-29

28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

Reflection:

I ask that you begin this day by touching your mind and your heart and say "God touch my mind and my heart, transform it, revive it, and breath life into it, In Jesus Name, Amen".

The Bible teaches us that our minds are being renewed daily by the washing of God's Word. The Lord desires that everything that is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. We know that the battles of life wages against our ways of thinking. But, our focus today is on the "heart".

There is nothing more beautiful than a "revived heart", a heart that is inspired and eager to live God's abundant life on earth. A heart who has tasted of the goodness of God. A miracle heart that was once bittered but today grateful. A heart that was once callused but now sensitive. A heart that was once broken, and now healed. A heart filled with the desire of God.

The bible teaches us that a Jew (one who praises God) is not simply a Jew because of his ethnicity, nor culture, nor is he/she a Jew because of their parents or geographical residence, nor is he a Jew because of physical decree. A Jew is one who praises God because of his inward convictions. He is a Jew because God has healed a callused heart and made it sensitive to the love of God. Just imagine for a moment that the fingers that molded the world, and held man in his hands is the very same healing hands that can transform your heart. He once wrote his commandments on stone, but not takes a heart of stone and writes his Words and commands with a desire to see you and I become everything God intended us to be.

Please notice you and I can not muster up enough strength, nor can we listen to enough motiviational speeches with the hope that we will entirely change and someday achieve perfection. No, the bible teaches us that this is a work of the Holy Spirit. It is a work of God, to testify to you and to the world that he is still in the miracle working business. There is nothing more powerful to see a sinful heart transformed by the power of God. Pure upright and holy, a revived heart inclined to the things of God and his purpose. Ohhh, Jesus we ask that you do something extraordinary today, something uncommon, something strange, in a time where the "norm" has blinded us to your supernatural power. Lord create in me a "revived heart"!! In Jesus Name.

Not Just a Child

Jeremiah 1:4-10
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

6 “Ah, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “Now, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

Reflection: There is nothing more beautiful or comforting in all creation then God's Word.

Today I ask that you take a moment to reflect on God's Word and associate yourself with the heart of the Father. Let the whisper of God's silent voice compel you to embrace God's plan in your life as you live day by day in a world that refuses to know him. Let your heart come to terms with what God says about you, and not what the world nor the voices in your head convinces you to believe.

As a young boy the Prophet Jeremiah could have not fathomed that he would be a spokesman for God and his Kingdom. He viewed himself as "to young" and "incapable of speaking". But, as the Word of the Lord came to him, the Lord reveals to Jeremiah, (which means God shall arise), his spiritual destiny in his creator. It is important to understand that every individual is a three dimensional being by which you and I possess a Spirit, a Soul, and a Body. God wants you to focus on your spiritual destiny today. I call out within you, that spirit being, that spiritual man or woman who was formed fearfully in the hands of the Almighty Creator (Elohim). Jeremiah could have not imagined that he would be destined to be a prophet, for speaking was not his strength. But God has taught us that "in your weaknesses he is made strong". Jeremiah was the perfect candidate that God choose because it did not depend on Jeremiah's strength, but in God's omnipotent spirit.

Benign to Jeremiah, Jeremiah considered his youthfulness to be an obstacle but in God's eyes it was perfect. For God desires that we all would have the heart of a child, for as the Word says Matthew 18:3 "unless you become like little children you will never enter the Kingdom of God". There is power in purity, holiness and innocence. This young Prophet did not realize that everything God needed to move was centered in Jeremiah's purity and dependency on God. For a true prophet is one who speaks the truth even when it is not popular to the masses. Truth sets people free, and truth is rooted in impenetrable purity of God's Word.

Today allow yourself to think of yourself according to God's Word. Do not limit yourself, but with sincere optimism allow God to work through you and reveal his perfect plan.

The Warrior and the Servant

Joshua 1

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2“Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Reflection:

Throughout Holy Scripture, we find God unveiling another wonderful side of his character and personality as we indulge in the story lines and outcomes of our magnificent God.

Here we have a warrior with the skills of a great general at war, reflecting on things in his past which limited his foresight in things to come. As “servant warriors”, God does not call us to be feeble muppets, but rather, a skilled and purposed soldier who knows how “not” to fumble the ball. We must be focused and driven by call, rather then by ambition or fear, and learn how to carry a sword, with the heart also to serve.

All acts of ministry (service) must be centered in Christ, and built on his Word. For success comes to those who can keep their eyes on the ball, maintaining their lips by spreading the Good News, and managing God’s gifts by the architectural design of his divine blueprint (the Word).

The Humble Giant

1 Peter 5

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection:

Peter in the midst of his great call, accomplishments and failures reflected on his life and issued a mandate inspired by the Holy Spirit to Pastors, youngsters, and the body of Christ. Humility is the fundamental step in acknowledging God’s power, and respecting his sovereignty. For the prideful, the soil will demand hard labor and the strength of man will see it’s limit. But, for those who remain in humility, he will see the great work of God’s hand working all things for the good of those who believe. (Pride is man’s strength, Humility is God’s power).

Don’t allow the prides of life to rob you this week from God’s best. See God at work as you humble yourselves! Love you all.

Hello family and friends,

We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support in our "Haiti- The Day After Project" which you have generously supported. As promised, I wanted to share some of our experiences and visual images to give you a glimpse of the condition, the miracles, the love, and work of our fellow missionaries and workers. I would like to give a special thank you to Pastor Medit, Pastor Patrick, Mr. Harold Silva, Mrs.Yemibeth Zamora, my wonderful wife Ivonne Fernandez, Marilyn Ortiz, Armando Ballart, and Mr. Ralph Yaniz for your overwhelming support. Salvation Simple.

The Bible assures us that if we believe in Jesus, we will be saved. The "prayer of salvation" is the most important prayer we will ever pray. When we are ready to become a Christian, we are ready to have our first real conversation with God! When we pray the prayer of salvation, we are letting God know we believe God’s Word is true. By the faith God has given us, we choose to believe in Him. So, when we pray, asking God for the gift of salvation, we're exercising our free will to acknowledge that we believe in Him. That demonstration of faith pleases God, because we have freely chosen to know Him.

Prayer of Salvation - Five Simples Steps.

1. Confess your sins: Father God, I’m a sinner.
2. Repent of your sins: I’m a sorry for my sins.
3. Ask forgiveness for your sins: Please forgive me for my sins.
4. Invite Jesus into your life: I want Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior.
5. Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit: Fill me with your Spirit so I can live by Your power.

Now pray this prayer with us:

"Dear God, I'm a sinner. I'm sorry for my sins. Forgive me of my sins. I want Jesus Christ to be my Savior. I want to be filled with your Holy Spirit so I may live my life with Your power. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Arminianism & Calvinism

Arminianism is the doctrine that "man" has the free will to choose salvation, and can also lose salvation. It is the work of God and man co-laboring to make salvation clear and secured. For as a man has total "free will" to choose salvation, he also has total "free will" to lose his salvation. It becomes a battle of the wills, God's wills verses man's will, or both working together.

Calvinism, in the other hand, teaches "once saved, always saved". There are some limitations regarding this doctrine, on the topic of whether salvation is only granted to the "elect" or is it offered to all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. It can possibly become an issue of exclusion, rather than inclusion. Could these two doctrines possibly work together for the good of those who can, and will be saved without changing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its ordinance?

Christians & Salvation?

When studying Salvation, it is important to consider all scripture before concluding whether a "Christian" can lose or forfeit their salvation. It is scripturally clear that God has completed the sacrifice for which salvation is granted, for all of God's work is perfect and complete. But, the question still arise whether Christians can lose their salvation? It is blasphemy to abuse the sacrifice of the cross, and belittle the grace for which we all have been saved by continuing to live in self indulgence and sin. For, a "genuine" Christian, resembles the work of God's hands, his mercy, his love, his humility, his character, his likeness, his image and of course his spirit. When considering this issue, we must understand fully that a "Christian" is one who believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord (governor, ruler, king) and that he resurrected from the dead (Romans 8). This confession is not simply a dictation, or a verbal declaration, for even demons will confess this, but an internal working of faith which has been proportioned by God, working through the circumcised heart of a believer. If in true, "Jesus Faith", has settled within the heart of a believer, God and angels rejoice and the Holy Spirit immerses the believer in his truth. This eternal work shall not be damned by doctrine, but fulfilled by truth. For a Christian, who has been filled with the Holy Spirit, will bear the fruits of the Spirit. This is denoted in the word "fellow" or "fellowship". Throughout scripture we can see that God calls us "fellow workers", or that we may have "fellowship" with him or other believers. This word is rich in depicting the importance of remaining in Christ, for God sees our divine relationship, through the scope of us remaining in fellowship with him. For a "true" Christian is one who has forfeited his worldly relationship, for a divine one. This, in turn, will assure and secure his eternal reward. You can not have true fellowship with God, and still come out looking and acting like the world. But, of course, this is finally revealed through time, and God will certainly judge the thoughts of the heart.

Reconciliation

Consider the agonizing force of a loving relationship ending in divorce. The separation of a lost child, in a highly populated area, where it's parents just realized that their child is no where to be found. How about, the complete lost of a loved one, when you are granted one last opportunity to see their face before lowering them to their rest. This is a minimal analogy of what it could have possibly felt like, when Adam committed sin, and all humanity was separated from God. For the Bible teaches us, that we all have fallen short of the Glory of God, and that because of our depravity we are separated from him. But, how beautiful is it to know, that God is not only holy, but forgiving. Reconciliation is the complete act of bonding that which was severed. God is a loving father who is waiting for his prodigal sons to return, he awaits the day, for which man will once again acknowledge the sacrifice for which he died. For Christ alone, "elected" to die, so that we may be eternally reconciled to the father and our rightful relationship with him can be completely restored. For in biblical reconciliation there is complete healing, complete hope, and complete love for which God is pleased and heaven rejoices because the father's children have returned. Thank you for the blood of Jesus.
