คำในภาษาอังกฤษ ที่อ่านแบบย่อๆ
มีคำต่อไปนี้

whatcha doin’ = what are you doing? คุณกำลังทำอะไร
whatcha say = what do you say? แล้วคุณคิดยังไง

ก่อนอื่นเลย ต้องบอกว่า

1. Bad เป็น คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjective) ทำหน้าที่ อธิบาย หรือ ขยาย คำนาม
2. Badly เป็น คำวิเศษณ์ (Adverb) ทำหน้าที่ ขยาย Verb Adjective และ Adverb

ดังนั้น คำว่า Bad ที่แปลว่า แย่ ไม่ดี จะอธิบายถึงประธาน I feel bad จึงแปลว่า ฉันรู้สึกแย่ ฉันรู้สึกไม่ดี

คำว่า Badly ที่แปลว่า แย่ ไม่ดี จะอธิบายถึงกิริยา Feel หมายถึง ความรู้สึกที่เป็นประสาท สัมผัส มันไม่ค่อยดี มันแย่ จึงแปลว่า ฉันรับรู้ประสาทสัมผัส ไม่ค่อยดี

ดังนั้น คิดๆ กันแล้วส่วนใหญ่ ก็จะใช้ I feel bad ซะมากกว่า

แต่ละตำราก็จะเรียกไม่ค่อยเหมือนกัน เอาง่ายๆ ละกันว่ามี 4 แบบ ไปจำว่า First condition, Second condition หรือ Third condition ก็ไม่ได้ช่วยให้เราเรียนรู้อะไร

แบบที่ 1   If + Present Simple, Present Simple
วิธีใช้ ใช้กับเหคุการณ์ที่เป็นความจริง
เช่น
               If you heat water, it boils. (ถ้าคุณต้มน้ำ น้ำก็เดือด)
               If you get here before seven, we can catch the early train. (ถ้าคุณมาถึงที่นี่ก่อน 7 โมง เราก็สามารถขึ้นรถไฟไปได้เร็ว)
               I can’t drink alcohol if I have to drive. (ฉันไม่สามารถดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ถ้าฉันต้องขับรถ)

แบบที่ 2   If + Present Simple, Will + V1
วิธีใช้  ใช้กับเหคุการณ์ที่เป็นเหตุเป็นผลซึ่งกันและกัน
เช่น
               If I have enough money, I will go to Japan. (ถ้าฉันมีเงิน ฉันจะไปญี่ปุ่น)
               If he is late, we will have to the meeting without him. (ถ้าเขามาสาย เราจะต้องเริ่มการประชุมโดยไม่มีเขา)
               I won’t go outside if the weather is cold. (ฉันจะไม่ออกไปข้างนอกถ้าอากาศมันเย็น)
               If I have time, I will help you. (ถ้าฉันมีเวลา ฉันจะช่วยคุณ)
               If you eat too much, you will get fat (ถ้าคุณกินมากเกินไป คุณก็จะอ้วน)

แบบที่ 3  If + Past Simple, would + V1 (would แปลว่า น่าจะ) (Past Simple à V2)
วิธีใช้  ใช้กับเหคุการณ์ที่ตรงข้ามความจริงในปัจจุบัน หรือ อนาคต
เช่น
               If I knew her name, I would tell you. (ถ้าฉันรู้ชื่อเธอ ฉันก็น่าจะบอกคุณ) [จริงๆ แล้วไม่รู้จักชื่อเธอ]
               She would be safer if she had a car. (เธอน่าจะปลอดภัยกว่านี้ ถ้าเธอมีรถ) [จริงๆ แล้วเธอไม่มีรถ]
               It would be nice if you helped me do the housework. [มันน่าจะดีถ้าคุณได้ช่วยฉันทำงานบ้านบ้าง] [จริงๆ แล้วเธอไม่ช่วยเลย]
               If I were you, I would call her. (ถ้าฉันเป็นคุณ ฉันน่าจะโทรหาเธอ) [จริงๆ แล้ว ฉันไม่ได้เป็นคุณ]
               If I were you, I would not say that. (ถ้าฉันเป็นคุณ ฉันก็ไม่น่าจะพูดเช่นนั้น) [จริงๆ แล้ว ฉันไม่ได้เป็นคุณ]

แบบที่ 4   If + Past perfect, would have + V3  (Past perfect -> Had + V3)
วิธีใช้  ใช้กับเหคุการณ์ที่ตรงข้ามความจริงในอดีต
เช่น         If you had worked harder, you would have passed your exam.  (ถ้าคุณขยันให้มากกว่านี้ คุณก็น่าจะสอบผ่าน) [จริงๆ แล้วสอบตกไปแล้ว]
               If you had asked me, I would have told you. (ถ้าคุณถามฉัน ฉันก็น่าจะบอกคุณไปแล้ว) [จริงๆ แล้วคุณไม่ได้ถาม]
               I would have been in big trouble if you had not helped me. (ฉันน่าจะมีปัญหาไปแล้ว ถ้าคุณไม่ได้ช่วยฉันไว้) [จริงๆ แล้วคุณช่วยฉันไว้]
               If I had met you before, we would have been together. (ถ้าฉันพบคุณก่อนหน้านี้ เราก็น่าจะได้อยู่ด้วยกันไปแล้ว) [จริงๆ แล้วฉันพบคุณช้าไป]

การใช้ If only…! จะเหมือนกับการใช้ I wish เป็นการแสดงความปรารถนากับสิ่งที่ตรงข้ามกับความจริง

หลักการใช้ If only

1. ใช้แสดงความปรารถนาในอดีต (Earlier time) [Had + V3]

e.g.

          If only I had known you were coming!  ขอเพียงแค่ฉันรู้ว่าคุณกำลังมา (ตอนนั้นฉันไม่รู้ว่า คุณกำลังมา)

          If only she hadn’t told the police!  ขอเพียงแค่เธอไม่ได้ไปบอกตำรวจ (ตอนนั้นเธอบอกตำรวจไปแล้ว)

2. ใช้แสดงความปรารถนาในปัจจุบัน (Same time) [V2, was/were + Ving]

e.g.

          If only she knew!  ขอเพียงแค่เธอรู้ (ปัจจุบัน เธอไม่รู้)

If only you knew how much I love you!  ขอเพียงแค่เธอรู้ว่าฉันรักเธอมากเท่าไหร่ (ปัจจุบัน เธอไม่รู้)

If only you were here!  ขอเพียงแค่เธออยู่ที่นี่ (ปัจจุบัน เธอไม่ได้อยู่ที่นี่)

If only I was better-looking!  ขอเพียงแค่ฉันดูดีขึ้น (ปัจจุบัน ฉันดูไม่ดีเท่าไหร่)     

3. ใช้แสดงความปรารถนาในอนาคต (Later time) [Would + V1]

e.g.

          If only someone would smile! ขอเพียงแค่ใครบางคนยิ้ม (ตอนนี้ไม่มีใครสักคนยิ้มเลย)

               ลองมาดู รูปนี้ดูกันครับ

          If only I had her figure! ขอเพียงแค่ฉันมีรูปร่างเหมือนเธอ (Figure แปลว่า รูปร่าง)

          If only I had her diamond! ขอเพียงแค่ฉันมีแหวนของเธอ

          If only I had his money!  ขอเพียงแค่ฉันได้เงินเขา

          If only I had his wife!  ขอเพียงแค่ฉันได้ภรรยาเหมือนเขา

1. Help + V1

She helps explain everything.

2. Help someone (to) do something (ช่วยใครให้ทำอะไร)

She helped me choose some new clothes

I helped her (to) carry her luggage.

3. Can’t help + Ving (ทนไม่ได้ / อดไม่ได้)

I can’t help laughing.

I can’t help falling for you. [falling for you = fall in love = ตกหลุมรักคุณ]

การใช้ help เป็นเเรื่องง่าย ที่ควรต้องรู้นะครับ ลองทบทวนบ่อยๆ ครับ

รูปแบบ  Had better + V1 ย่อเป็น (‘d better + V1)

ใช้เมื่อต้องการให้คำแนะนำเกี่ยวกับเรื่องปัจจุบัน หรือ อนาคต (ถึงแม้ว่า Had จะมีรูปเป็น อดีต ของ Have ก็ตาม) เช่น

• You had better go. (คุณควรไปได้แล้ว)
• You’d better hurry. (คุณควรจะรีบหน่อย)
• You’d better tell him everything. (คุณควรบอกเขาทั้งหมด)
• I’d better get back to work. (คุณควรกลับไปทำงานได้แล้ว)

รูปปฎิเสธ คือ Had better not + V1

• You’d better not say anything. (คุณไม่ควรจะพูดอะไรเลย)
• I’d better not come. (ฉันไม่ควรมาเลย)
• We’d better not miss the beginning of the movie. (เราไม่ควรพลาดช่วงแรกของหนัง)

ใช้เมื่อต้องการแนะนำ ว่าถ้าไม่ทำตาม บางสิ่งบางอย่างไม่ดีจะเกิดขึ้น เช่น

• You’d better do what I say or else you will get into trouble. (ถ้าไม่ทำตามที่ฉันบอก คุณจะมีปัญหา)
• I’d better get back to work or my boss will be angry with me. (ฉันควรจะกลับไปทำงาน มิฉะนั้น หัวหน้าจะโกรธฉัน)

ใช้เมื่อต้องการ พูดเชิงคำสั่ง

• You’d better help me. If you don’t, there will be trouble. (คุณควรจะช่วยฉันนะ ถ้าไม่ คุณจะมีปัญหา)

Had better จะบ่งบอกความรีบร้อนมากกว่า Should หรือ Ought

• You’d better do it. จะรีบร้อนมากกว่า You should do it.
