Peta2 Interview!

One of Equal Vision’s most notable bands, Chiodos have gained an avid following in the few years since the release of their debut album, All’s Well That Ends Well. They’ve paid their dues on Warped Tour, rocked the main stage at Bamboozle, had a top 10 album on the Billboard charts, and most recently, embarked on a world tour. Even with a schedule so busy that it would make your head spin, the boys were more than happy to sit down with peta2 to talk about the animal issues that are near and dear to their hearts. Although it’s not always the case, more often than not, the most distinguishable component of any successful band is the lead singer. Gabe Saporta is Cobra Starship. When you picture AFI, Davey Havok comes to mind. And subsequently, Craig Owens is the face and voice of Chiodos. When he’s not fronting Chiodos, Craig can be seen playing house shows with his side project, Cinematic Sunrise; lending guest vocals to MXPX; or sharing the stage with supergroup Isles and Glaciers. We recently caught up with Craig and his bandmate Brian Southall to get their thoughts on vegetarianism, animal testing, and standing up for what’s right.

I’m in Rochester, Michigan @ 37 Studios for the first day of recording my new solo record, and things are already sounding great! Today, we are laying down scratches of the songs and doing drums. My friend B South has been kind enough to come in and play drums on this record.

There will also be quite a few more special guests coming in over the next few days to play / sing on the record ! Including - Stephen from Anberlin(singing), Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad(singing/playing guitar), Brad Bell from Chiodos(keys/guitar), Josh Epstein / Cassie Verass from The Silent Years(singing/guitar/violin/misc.), and my friend Vince Moreno from Kid Brother Collective(guitar) + A LOT more to come!

i understand that you live to believe in false information and stories…but, wait, excuse me…have we met?

it’s been brought to my attention that there’s quite a correlation between certain aspects of my life and lyrics to a bands song. i will not disclose this bands name, because that may only bring traffic in their direction, and or drama…which i do not want.

however, i would like to ask you - being everyone. how do certain individuals in which you’ve never met, claim to understand, and furthermore continue to call out those whom they only ASSUME act or live in a certain fashion? so far as to not only attempt at cheapening your words, but degrading them in such a way and with such passion to make them their own? where does all of this hypocritical anger come from? jealousy? rage? insecurity? past? present? future?

let’s all try something new. next time, before speaking illy of another, let’s do a little more hands on investigating. let’s attempt at striking up a conversation, or actually looking into the life of the other, and not at it from afar.

what do you all think? let’s talk, i’m interested.

p.s. i ‘d also like to add that i really enjoy all of the music that this band has made in the past, along with this record in particular.
