For those who don’t know, Perfect Money is an electronic payment system for non-cash payments in the Internet , created in 2007. Legally system belongs to Perfect Money Finance Corp., Registered in Panama, headquarters and operational services – in Zurich.

Based in Costa Rica, “Liberty Reserve was a centralized digital currency that allowed users to register and transfer money with only a name, email address and birth date. No efforts were made by the site to verify identities of its users, making it an attractive payment processor to scam” (source Wikipedia). Liberty Reserve was described as being the internet’s “oldest, safest and most popular payment processor… serving millions all around a world“.

To transfer money using LR, a user needed only to provide a name, address and date of birth. One undercover agent was able to register an account under the name “Joe Bogus” and describe the purpose of the account as “for cocaine” without being questioned. Because Liberty Reserve was incorporated outside the United States, were forced to use a provision in the Patriot Act to target the organization. The officials also said that it was the first time when the provision has been used to prosecute a virtual currency provider.

David Cohen (Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence for the U.S Treasury Department) said that: “We took this action because Liberty Reserve, a web-based money transfer system or virtual currency, is being exploited by criminals worldwide to store, transfer and launder the proceeds of a wide variety of illegal activity“. According to prosecutors, the case “may be the largest international money laundering case ever brought by the United States.”

Beside all the scam and scammers, Liberty Reserve was also used by trusted companies and trusted users with the only purpose of exchanging services.
This is also our case, we had provided Liberty Reserve as a payment method to our users and now we have to search for other alternatives. Some of the options are PerfectMoney, WebMoney, BitCoin etc.

Digital currency Perfect Money posted a note to its site saying it would no longer accept new registrations from individuals or companies based in the United States. “We bring to your attention that due to changes in our policy we forbid new registrations from individuals or companies based in the United States of America. This includes US citizens residing overseas“.”If you fall under the above mentioned category or a US resident, please do not register an account with us. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

Another digital currency and probably the closest competitor to Liberty Reserve in terms of users and daily transfer volumes, WebMoney, started blocking new account signups from users in the United States at least two months ago. Among all digital currencies, the most widely known is called BitCoin which has quickly gained users’ attention.

The time has come to (Push the Button, literally!) show you, Mac enthusiasts, a few tips and tricks that can save you time and make ibVNP experience more pleasant. We are currently offering PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN support for the MAC architecture.

OpenVPN/TunnelBlick: A new version of TunnelBlick is out there, with loads of new features. You will be able to update you client by downloading and installing the following version (click here). You can install it over your previous version. Feature it will include:

• Connect at startup for the desired server
• Sound notifications (connect/disconnect) with a nice set of sound samples.
• Save the login information for all available servers.
• Connect/Disconnect when exit/launching TunnelBlick

PPTP/L2TP:

1. Open the Automator utility and create a new “Service” workflow.
2. Set the workflow to receive “no input” in “any application” in the top-most menus.
3. Add the “Run AppleScript” action to the workflow, and replace its script contents with the following:

tell current location of network preferences

set VPN to “SERVICE NAME”

set VPNactive to connected of current configuration of service VPN

if VPNactive then

disconnect service VPN

else

connect service VPN

4. Be sure to replace SERVICE NAME with the name of your VPN connection, which can be looked up in the Network System preferences (if the name is truncated, click the Advanced… button and view the full name at the top of the Advanced Settings panel).

5. Save the workflow with a name like “Connect to VPN“

When this is finished, go to the Keyboard system preferences and select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, where you can locate the “Connect to VPN” service in the Services section, and assign a custom keyboard shortcut to it. You should now be able to toggle your VPN connection on and off from within any application by using this shortcut.

You should also know that the new IPs supports all connections types: OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP.

Our All In One client is already up to date with the new changes. For manual VPN setup please follow the tutorial according to your OS and check the new servers from Client Area.

In order to connect to this new server via PPTP or L2TP you will need to use the IP address instead of the server name. The IP address has been included in My servers section in client area and to setup your connection, please follow the tutorial accordingly to your operating system. Our AIO users can already connect to the new server via SSTP, L2TP or PPTP.

Important! All AIO (All In One VPN client) users will need to download the software and install it. For this we recommend uninstalling the previous version using the uninstaller for our software.

After a lot of hard work, this new version of our Windows client, comes with several improvements:

1. Auto Renew TAP: “Repair OpenVPN” button in Settings Tab. Will delete all active TAP drivers and will add a new tap driver when the OpenVPN connection has been initiated.

The amazing ClearOS development team managed to build a ibVPN app from scratch, based on the OpenVPN protocol.

The best feature that you will definitely enjoy is setting your favorite device to use the ibVPN service inside your Home LAN. On the ibVPN ClearOS app menu you can assign the hostname/IP address for the specified device so that you won’t have to setup the VPN for your device. It’s basically like setting up the VPN in your router, only easier, faster and far more convenient. Thus you will be able to choose a device on your LAN to route through the selected ibVPN server.

In order to install the app you can use the following command: # yum install –enablerepo=clearos-contribs app-ibvpn. Make sure that you set the Network connection to Gateway and disable the proxy settings.
