Pearls Turned Into a Work of Art

Isn’t it amazing when designers take something so classic and turn it into a work of art? The latest arrivals at Ice do just that. Taking beautiful yet simple white button pearls and pair them with organic designs made from yellow gold plated sterling silver.

The organic design of this yellow gold pearl collection is so unique to each individual piece. The hammered jewelry trend I told you about a couple of months back is featured beautifully in this new pearl collection.

These new pearl pieces bring a fun, fresh twist to your beloved pearls. Half of this new collection features pieces with an intertwined design strewn with pearls (pictured below). Nature lovers will love the organic design of the brushed gold finish on these intricate pieces. Top 5 Bridesmaid Gift ideas

Now that Spring has officially sprung that means wedding season is kicking off. This is the busiest time for brides to take care of all the last minute details for their wedding and thankfully they have their trusty bridesmaids by her side to help. As a gesture of your appreciation you should always give a gift to say thank you to your favorite gals.

Jewelry is the perfect gift idea since it saves them the trouble of finding jewelry to wear on your wedding day. Here are some of my favorite ideas.

1. Statement Earrings: The most popular bridesmaid dresses are usually strapless leaving exposed shoulders to either do a fabulous pair of statement earrings or a great necklace. Not both together, that would be overkill. If you decide to go the earrings route, chandelier earrings and drop earrings are my pick for a fabulous gift idea.

2. Color-coordinated gemstones to match the color of their dress is always a fantastic idea. Popular bridesmaid dress colors for 2013 are purple (pair with an Amethyst stone), pink (Pink Sapphire) and blue (Blue Topaz, Sapphire or Aquamarine). With the huge variety of colorful gemstone jewelry, you can always find something to match whichever color your bridesmaids will be draped in.

3. Initial Pendants are a nice personal gift. We have some beautiful diamond encrusted initial pendants in cursive writing which makes them much more elegant.

4. Bangles will put a smile on any bridesmaid’s face. It’s a safe & easy gift that almost all women love. Many bangle designs can be very glamorous, perfect for evening wear on your wedding day.

5. Cocktail Rings are always a huge hit at a glamorous event such as a wedding. On the night of your wedded bliss let your favorite ladies shine with a statement sparkler on her finger too. You can’t be the only one sporting a big rock on your hand. There are lots of different styles and gemstones to choose from to fit perfectly which each bridesmaid’s individual style.

Mindy Kaling in Vita Fede Jewelry

The hilarious Mindy Kaling from sitcoms The Mindy Project & The Office is one of our faves. We love her youthful fashion & humour so we were delighted to see her sporting one of our designer jewelry collections. Vita Fede is a fabulous jewelry designer from LA that makes all their fierce jewelry in Italy. How awesome is that?

The other night in LA, Mindy Kaling looked adorbs walked the red carpet in a cute sequined outfit accessorized in a stack of Vita Fede bangles and rings. Put a Pinky Ring on It

Rings have always been one of our favorite jewelry categories. From engagement rings to cocktail rings to dainty right hand rings, we love them all! But I do want to remind you about the sometimes forgotten pinky finger. Rings are most commonly adorned on the “ring finger”, your middle finger or your thumb. I think it’s time you give some love to your little pinky.

We’ve seen our favorite fashionable stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez in huge cocktail rings on their pinkies. Depending on your personal style or your outfit you can pretty much pull off any kind of ring on your pinky. We love chunky rings especially with large gemstones like this Purple Amethyst ring for a night out (pictured below). Delicate simple bands are great for everyday. I stacked a couple of bands for an extra boost of color you can see in the pic above.

Whenever I find a fabulous ring that isn’t available in my size I don’t let that small detail effect me. I just get a smaller size for my pinky or larger for my thumb. Trend Alert: Backwards Necklace

It’s always exciting to see fashionistas remixing the same old stuff into something fabulous that gets everyone talking. You may have noticed at the Academy Awards this past weekend a trend of wearing your necklaces a little differently. Newly awarded Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence wore a long 74 carat diamond bead necklace…backwards. She draped the delicate long necklace down her back to give her look some extra elegance.

Fellow Oscar winner Anne Hathaway tackled this same look. However she got the best of both worlds by draping herself in a diamond necklace that wowed from the front and back. The front was a tight choker style diamond necklace and the back had a dangling train of floral designed diamonds. Her dress choice definitely didn’t let this beautiful necklace stand out enough both in the front and back but we love the idea of it. She described the necklace as ‘business in the front, party in the back’. Love that!

A few things to keep in mind if you want to try out this look.

Wear a backless dress so more focus is on the necklace & nothing is interfering
If there is a pendant on the necklace, make sure it’s on the back so it weights down the necklace properly to keep it in place.
Put your hair up if you have long hair for this look to really shine.

Metallics Rocked the 2013 Oscars

Award season is officially over with the end of the Academy Awards. It’s always the most glamorous night of the season & we loved every bit of it. There were lots of different looks to choose from for best dressed but I have to say my favorite theme of the night were all the fabulous metallic dresses. From silver/gunmetal to rose gold to yellow gold, they all look incredible and definitely stood out the most to me.

Halle Berry, Stacy Keibler & Naomi Watts were the winners in the silver and gunmetal tones. Each dress was sleek and sexy yet sophisticated. I absolutely adored all three! They all paired these gowns with silver jewelry or black accented jewelry. Stacy Keibler wore a beautiful black diamond bracelet that went perfectly with her gown. Even First Lady Michele Obama glitzed in metallic silver by Naeem Khan. She paired her look with chandelier earrings.

Jessica Chastain is always so elegant. Her Armani gown looked exquisite on her. It had a sheer rose gold tone that looked wonderful paired with her red hair. I personally think she should have opted for some rose gold jewelry to pair with this stunning gown. She did have on a pair of beautiful diamond earrings.

Catherine Zeta-Jones looked beautiful as always in a beaded golden yellow Zuhair Murad gown. She paired this detailed gown with extravagant gemstone yellow gold earrings. Salma Hayek also accented her black down with yellow gold detail and Renee Zellweger wore a sequin golden gown as well.

Best Dressed at 2013 Grammy’s

Music’s biggest night is always filled with incredible performances and fabulous fashion. This year’s red carpet looks may have seemed slightly tamed since the Grammy Awards sent out a warning to the females to keep things PG-13. Some of our favorite looks of the night were Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Carrie Underwood & Katy Perry.

Rihanna looked stunning in a vintage red Alaia gown. She accessorized with a diamond bangle as well as four rings. She sported one on her ring finger that has sparked lots of engagement rumors. I think she’s just a fan of rings. I loved her snake ring which will be a very big trend this year. Guiliana Rancic & Alicia Keys were also seen in snake jewelry.

Carrie Underwood was probably the most glamorous of the evening. She was dressed more for the Oscars than the Grammy’s but she looked lovely in Roberto Cavalli. Without a doubt she had the most exquisite jewelry of the night, sporting 381 carats around her neck. This $31 million diamond necklace was definitely an eye-catcher.

Katy Perry added a nice splash of color on the red carpet with her mint green Gucci gown. Her dress dazzled with gemstones, beads and pearls which she also accessorized with a green cocktail ring.

Honorable mentions go to Kelly Rowland who probably disobeyed CBS’s wardrobe warning the most. It was definitely risqué but she looked fantastic. She accessorized with the Pantone color of the year - emerald earrings and a matching emerald ring.
