Both tracks above are really great--I've always been in love with Final Fantasy's solo records as well as his work with the Arcade Fire, and his signature looped strings resonate pretty well in this rather uncanny remix.

I had just recently caught on to Birdy Nam Nam, and when I listened to Manual For Successful Rioting I was immediately reminded of Tepr's Cote Quest, which is (in my opinion) a record everyone should own. Very few times can dance records have absolutely no filler--I think it's safe to say that BNN has broken the mold and produced one of the best efforts so far this year.

Based out of the United Kingdom, Cicada deliver a certain brand of heartthrob dance-pop that is heavy on kick drum, ensnared by repetition, and catchy to the supreme (reminds me of the 90s music they used to play at the local Skate Corral). Not only does it go well with roller blades and neon lights, but it is also an excellent choice for outdoor dance parties in the good old country barn. Don't mind the freezing weather.

Perfect for late-night car rides with friends who like to sing through their nose while drinking Big Gulps and realizing that it's 3:00 AM and that your parents wanted you home an hour ago but it doesn't matter because this song makes everything much much MUCH better. The Bo Flex remix is, besides the original, the best track, especially when you put on sunglasses and run in slow motion against the wind.

I haven't given A-Trak's Nike+: Original Run record any serious thought, but I've heard considerably good things. I remember catching him play in Chicago a few years back, right after he quit hiding behind Kanye's shadow. Nowadays, he has deals left and right, a talented girlfriend, and now this (which takes the cake): a Serato vinyl disk commemorated just in time for his Nike gig, thanks to the boys at Whitelabel.net. It's a work of art. And I'm buying one. But hold on--only 1,000 are being pressed. So get if I were you, I'd get one soon, too.

Whitelabel.net is also great for getting exclusive tracks, in case you wanted an alternative to iTunes.

Well, it was cold enough for classes to cancel this morning. And, naturally of course, icicles and desolate winter scenes compel me to talk about music. So, before I indulge in a breakfast fit for a king (ie., frozen waffles, Cap'n Crunch) let me pass some stuff on.

Telefon Tel Aviv, as if you didn't know already, is a neat little electronic-ambient duo out of Chicago. Every album so far has been a serious piece of work; Fahrenheit Fair Enough's clean-cut synth whispers went well with autumn drives in vacant cornfields, while Map of What Is Effortless (featuring Damon Aaron) has a deeper, more genre-flexing flavor, combining elements of soul with looped beats and heavy bass. And soon enough, the group will release Immolate Yourself, which, if anything, sounds like early M83. Which, pardon my French, is a really fucking splendid thing.

I highly recommend all of TTA's stuff, but I'm positive their latest album will generate some serious buzz. It's simple: kids everywhere will close the curtains, put on "Your Mouth," and stare at the ceiling.

After a jar of peanut butter, odd bouts of Yann Martel's Life of Pi, repetition of Metronomy's "Heartbreaker," and intensifying, mind-bending introspection, I've decided to return.

Fuck, I know. This guy again? Yeah, it's me. Here I am. I've come to spread the resplendent joys of music once more. If you have anything to mention to me, say it now. I won't take any bullshit a week from now. I'm here to talk about how underground music makes me ecstatic, irrational, and hopelessly nostalgic. And I also give you MP3s. Tell your friends before I become a washed-up electronica star in Denmark. And then I will transmit good vibes in your direction (if you want them now, it costs five dollars per transmission. I suggest buying the vibes in bulk, they come in handy when you awkwardly shake hands with your girlfriend, get egg shell in your omelette, or flunk that film quiz on soviet montage).

Anyway, I guess the best way to begin is to give you a few songs (and then you should email The Hype Machine and tell them to re-add me to their list). The first track comes off of Fever Ray's upcoming self-titled debut...and well, if you think it sounds like Swedish eccentrics The Knife, then you're halfway correct. This is Karen Dreijer's (lead singer of The Knife) solo project, and I'll be honest--it sounds very similar. Perhaps a bit more bounce and beat than Silent Shout, but many trademark sounds remain in the ground; I doubt many fans will be disappointed. Perfect for negative twenty degree weather.
