Back in April, the service I was using to host three of my other websites expired. While the hosting package was still active, I never fully utilized what I was paying for, updating the sites was a chore to say the least, and getting decent indexing on search engines wasn't happening. Rather than renew my service and continue wasting $130/year on hosting, I decided it was time for a change.

<div class="feedflare">

It's hard to believe that this will be the 10th post I've written about customizing toy guns to look like they're from the Victorian era. For those that have followed this thread, you'll notice that my last post on the subject was way back in 2009.

So why am I starting a 3 year old idea back up? It's simple really. A little over a month ago, I was cleaning out the storage space in my studio,

<div class="feedflare">

As promised in the write-up for the Steampunk Mask No. 2, here's the story behind my third attempt at creating a Steampunk leather mask.

Once I realized how good of a job my old Imperial De Luxe sewing machine did stitching the reused 3-4 oz. leather from a horribly designed old jacket I got from the thrift store, I decided to push the boundaries of what it could do a little more. Since most of the sculptural work I had on hand was from classes I took as far back as 2004 and I had sold all of the Steampunk work I had completed over the past few years, I didn't feel that what I had showed what I was currently capable of.

<div class="feedflare">

My friend, Sandy Shaner, just finished her new cookbook for college students and singles called, "So Now You're On Your Own" and asked me to help her out with the cover and layout. I can speak from experience that the cookbook is handy and well written.

"So Now You're On Your Own" is currently available on Amazon as a paperback or Kindle edition.

My friend over at Lucky Promotions just got started booking shows for a number of the steampunk bands and musicians that are out now. Because of this, he asked me to create a new logo for him to help promote the site.

And just for grins, here's a video of my favorite Professor Elemental song.

Last summer, I drove 6 hours overnight to Chicago to submit my portfolio for the next season of Bravo's Work of Art show. After waiting in line for a couple of hours and meeting with a few of the judges (that seemed to like my work), I was told I'd get a call to let me know if they needed me to come back the next day. So I waited... and waited... and got nothing. No callback or anything. On the weekends I work at a nite club here in town and generally have to put up with hearing bad top 40s music most of the time. A few months back, one of the DJs got into the whole dubstep craze and started to mix it into his set. Shortly after this, he started promoting shows at the club that were basically nothing but dubstep all night long. Needless to say I'm not a fan. A few months ago I purchased a lot of tools from a friend of my Dad. Included in the lot was an old rusted beyond repair 4" Canadian jointer with a 1/4HP 1950s GE Utility Motor and a 1930s Craftsman Companion Wood Lathe with a 1930s 1/6HP Emerson capacitor start motor. Since the jointer was destined for the scrap yard, I figured I'd swap the more powerful 1/4HP motor over the the lathe to

<div class="feedflare">

I was recently commissioned to create a few tattoo designs for a client on Guru. I must say that the one I enjoyed creating the most was the design shown above featuring the Greek god Poseidon riding through the sea on his seashell chariot with trusty trident in hand.

Box 1.0, I began to get pretty inundated with orders for stompboxes on eBay and Etsy.

Back in the early days of the blues, musicians would often sit on their porch and vent their problems in the form of song. Strumming their handmade cigar box guitar and tapping their foot on the boards of their porch to add rhythm, they would sing about trifling women, drinking, fighting, and the quest to keep their head above water. Since those early days, the music changed.
