Hhmm. You tried it, but you never succeeded. I guess you have tried it for a couple of days but then lacked the motivation and discipline to continue afterward. If you are this kind of guy you will surely benefit from this post!

21 days (3 weeks) trial program is an ideal self initiated program to make or break habits. By the help of this program you can form habits like waking up early, exercising, quitting soda drinks, making new buddies, book reading, meditating etc. The list is virtually endless.

Similarly, 21 days trial program can also be effectively used for breaking habits as well, such as biting your nails, procrastination, and playing video games. 21 days trial program is an ideal and feasible solution.

Terms of the 21-Day Trial

There is only one simple term of this trial. You must perform that activity every day, without fail, for 21-days. If you do happen to skip the activity in one of the days before the trial is up, you must redo it all over. Remember, your brain needs 21 days to adopt a new habit.

Suggested List of Habits

Here is the list of habits that you can try out:

Waking up Early

Checking Email Once a Day

Going to Work on Time

Connecting with Your Parents

Flossing Your Teeth

Reading a Book

Doing Work on Time

Quitting smoking

At the end of my post, I will ask you to please share your experience, if you have already tried to make/change habit. I would also like to hear from you, if you are planning to use 21 – day trial method to make/change habit.

If we analyze our daily activities, majority of them are habits, whether it is waking up from the sleep, flossing our teeth or doing exercise. In this post I will particularly focus on how to effectively change a habit. My advice is based on guidelines provided by the latest research in the field of psychology.

1. Take One Habit at a Time. This is very important tip. Always work on one habit and don’t ever focus on changing multiple habits at a time. If you do, you are overwhelming yourself and you will be running a serious risk of failing to change any habit at all.

2. Make a Plan and Note it Down. This is often the most overlooked advice on changing a habit effectively. Always make a plan and note it down. Write a start date and an end date (21 days time period is recommended). Think, what could be possible hurdles and how you will overcome them and note it down. Also include a a reward system in your plan. Finally, review your plan and make sure that it is realistic.

3. Repeat! This is quite obvious and is the main reason of many failed attempts to change a new habit. Remember habits are our actions that are repeated over and over again until they become automatic. It mean all you have to do is to repeat an action sufficient number of times so that it is ingrained and then your new habit will be on autopilot.

So, these are the three advices for effectively changing a habit. I hope you will find it helpful when working on changing a habit.

It’s even more challenging, if it is your first time. You have no clue where your money is going and the amount of monthly transactions are enough to scare even the most courageous one.

50/30/20 type of budget is a good starting point for a beginner. Here is how you can get started to create your first budget an easy way:

Start with Your Net Income. Net income is your gross pay minus all deductions including income tax, social security and medicare taxes. Add 401k contributions, health insurance premium and union dues to your net income.

Limit Your Necessary Expenses to 50% of Your Net Income. "Necessary Expenses" include all the expenses which are basic in nature and you can’t avoid it, like utility bills, food, childcare, transportation and insurance. A rule of thumb is that if you can’t delay a payment for a few months without serious consequences then it comes under the category “Necessary Expenses”.

Allocate about 30% of Your Net Income to Discretionary Expenses. “Discretionary Expenses” are money spend on dining out, gifts, money Vacations, gifts, entertainment, and clothes. These are expenses which you can avoid for months without serious consequences.

Use 20% on Savings and Debt Repayment. Remember too much debt and too little savings is a sure recipe for disaster. It is recommended that you spend about 20% on debt repayment and savings. To achieve financial independence always contribute regularly to this category of your budget.

Everyone has unique situation, so feel free to tailor made it to suit your needs.

This time China has come forward to help Pakistan combat energy crisis. China in collaboration with Pakistan has already build two nuclear reactors of about 300 megawatts near Chashma whereas two more are to come in the near future.

Now, China's main nuclear energy corporation is in the process of finalizing talks to build a 1-gigawatt atomic power plant in Pakistan. This step by China will greatly help Pakistan in resolving energy crisis, although it definitely has the potential to intensify international unease regarding safety of our nuclear capability.
TweetDeck shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organised and up to date.
Some of the important features of TweetDeck are:

Update Twitter, Facebook, Buzz and MySpace in a click

Manage conversations with @replies and direct messages

Stay organized with Groups

Manage multiple Twitter accounts easily

Hurry up to download TweetDeck. Why a Jew can grow his beard in order to practice his faith, b ut when Muslim does the same, he is an extremist and terrorist?

Why a nun can be covered from head to toe in order to devote herself to God, but when a muslim women does the same she is oppressed?

Any girl can go to university wearing what she wills and have her rights and freedom. But when muslim girl wears a Hijab, they prevent her from entering her university?

When a Christian or a Jew kills someone, religion is not mentioned. But when Muslim is charged with a crime, it is Islam and Muhammad that goes to trial!

When someone sacrfices himself to keep others alive, he is noble and all respect him. But when a Muslim does that in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestinian and Kashmir to save his son from being killed, his brother's arm being broken, his mother being raped, his home being destroyed, and his mosque being violated -- He gets the title of a terrorist! Why? Because he is a Muslim!

When a person is acquainted with the knowledge of his soul it becomes clear to him that it is Allah Himself who is guiding him. Just think what our life would be like if Allah Himself was guiding us and just how close we would be to Allah. Truly, with this course of conduct our every movement would become based upon Allah's movement. If we contemplate on the psychological depths of this course of conduct we find that whenever we do a good deed for Allah's sake, we find great satisfaction and happiness in it. That happiness penetrates deep within and illuminates every part of the soul. With that joy the soul becomes so light that it forgets about its physical body.

If we look into the lives of saints we realise that they spent their lives in the same way as an ordinary person spends his life. The only difference is that they were acquainted with the pleasures of a good course of conduct whereas we are not. How is it not possible for every descendant of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) to achieve what was possible for the saints? Certainly it is possible for us all but we are careless and ignorant.

The saints, after acquainting themselves with this pleasure and with the blessings of real Salaat managed to gather people to perform congregational Salaat . The congregational Salaat of those few people managed to change the condition and structure of the whole world. But when Muslims stopped performing Salaat in the way it should be performed and turned this sacred alchemic worship into a ritual, as a punishment nature took all kinds of leadership and authority away from us. There was no warmth left in our hearts. We became deprived of softness, passion, humility, modesty, tolerance, knowledge, intellect, understanding and a healthy mind.

Step #5. Now is the time to download the existing template. This will make restoring the existing template easier, in case some thing went wrong during changing the template. Click "Download Template" and follow the instructions to save a copy of the template.

Step #6. Click browse and select the template from your PC which you want to upload and click “Upload”. In case a message is displayed asking you to confirm to remove any widget, select “Remove”. After uploading the template click “Save”.

Blogging at Blogger is easy and fun to do. Blogger has some great features and above all it is free. So you have nothing to lose. To start a blog at Blogger, follow following four easy steps, which can easily be completed within a couple of minutes.

Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you to get started:

Step #1: Go to Blogger and click “CREATE YOUR BLOG NOW” option near bottom right corner of the page. Step #2: You will be asked to create a user name and choose a password that you will require to access your Blogger account. Type a display name that will be used to sign your posts and provide an email address. Blogger accepts other email addresses besides Google/Gmail ones.

Don’t forget to check the box that say you accept Blogger’s Terms of Service and click “CONTINUE” to go to the next screen.

Step #3: Give a descriptive title and web address to your blog. It will be better if you use relevant keyword phrases in your blog’s title and its web address. It will help in search engine optimization and you will be able to get a relatively higher page rank in searches. Click “CONTINUE” to go to next window.
Step #4: You are required to select a template for your blog. This is the style and look of your blog. Blogger already has some preset designs that you can use. Select a template and click “CONTINUE”.
Your new blog is created and is ready for posting. Click on “Start Posting” to write your first post for the world to see. After you have finished writing your first post, click on “Publish post”. Within a few seconds Blogger will tell you that it has published your post and you have officially joined blogger’s community.
Every body knows about it. What is the point of posting a post about What is a Blog?

You are right, if you are thinking in this way. But, it is also a fact that there are people even now, who don’t know much about Blogs and Blogging. They have just heard its name and they want to start their own blog. This post is aimed at people like these and to help them start a blog of their own.

So let us come back to the topic of this post, what is a blog? I could answer it in many ways but the best way is to see what experts are saying about blogs and blogging:

“A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.” Harvard Law

“A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order”. Wikipedia

“A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world.” Blogger

In a nutshell, a blog is website, where you post your entries in reverse chronological order. Readers of the blog visit your blog posts and they comment on your posts, if they wished so.

Now you have understood what a blog is, the next step before starting a blog is to select your niche (thematic topic of your blog). I would suggest you to select a niche (the more narrow your niche, the better), for which you have a passion. This will keep your interest in the blogging and secondly you will have enough motivation to update your knowledge about your niche a write a quality post.

Once you have selected your niche, it is time to opt a blogging platform. I would recommend you to go to Blogger and start your blog. It has a better platform and besides, it is a free service.

If you have difficulty in starting a blog at blogger, see my next post about step by step tutorial on “How to Start a Blog at Blogger”.

If you have your own working definition of a blog or you want to comment on my post “What is a Blog/Weblog?”, feel free to post your comment.

The father was worried, because his son had fallen into companionship with people who might lead him astray, and he was trying to help his son see that it was time for him to take his life a little more seriously.

“Aw, dad, I know you mean well, and I know I’m not really doing you proud, but I like to party. I’ll get on the right track some day. I don’t need to worry.”
They drove a little further, when suddenly the son said, “Hey dad, that was the turnoff for the cottage. You missed the turnoff.”

“I know,” said the father. “I think I’ll just keep driving this way for a while. I can always go back later to take the right road.”

A few more minutes – and a couple turnoffs – passed. The son began to think of the swimming he would miss if they arrived too late. “Dad, the farther you go down this road, the longer it will take to get back.”

The father replied, “That’s true. The further you go down the wrong track, the harder it is to get back. So when were you thinking of turning your life around to head down the right track?”

Where do you want to go? What do you want out of life? Most importantly, what are you waiting for?
Following are some selection from the discoure of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani:

The knower ('arif) is one who at every moment comes closer to Allah than he was the moment before. At every moment his humility toward his Lord is renewed as is his submissiveness toward Him. He humbles himself to One who is present, not absent. His humility increases in proportion to his nearness to his Lord and his bewilderment increases in proportion to his witnessing (mushahada).

Where is your obedient service to the Lord of Truth, if you do not behave properly? If you do not do so, you will be evicted from the house in disgrace but if you are well behaved and compliant, you will be kept there and be treated with honor. The lover (muhibb) of Allah is a guest in His presence, and the guest does not pick and choose his food, his drink, his clothing and all his circumstances ahead of the people of the household. Instead he is always accommodating, patient and easily pleased, so he is sure to be told: "You are welcome to what you see and find here!"

Whenever one puts what one learns into practice, Allah endows him with knowledge of what he did not know. He makes the heart stand upright on its feet and sincerity (ikhlas) moves his step toward the Lord of Truth. If you are practising but you notice that your heart is not close to the Lord of Truth and you do not experience the sweetness of worship and intimate friendship (uns) you should realize that you are not practising correctly and that you are hindered by the defects in your practice. What are those defects? Pretense (riya), hypocrisy (nifaqa) and pride (ujb). O practitioner, you must have sincerity, otherwise do not bother. You must be attentively aware of the Lord of Truth in private and in public. Attentive awareness (muraqaba) in public is for hypocrites, and in private and in public alike for those who are sincere.

To command what is right and proper and forbid what is wrong and improper (al-amru bil ma'ruf wan-nahyu 'anil munkar) is dearer to me than a thousand hermits in their cells.

Take the shovel and the palm-leaf basket and sit at the entrance to the place of work, so that when you are called you will be close to the Employer. Do not sit on your mattress, under your blanket and behind locked doors, then expect to find work and employment. Keep your heart close to remembrance (dhikir) and remind it of the Day of Resurrection. Reflect on those crumbling tombs. Reflect on how the Lord of Truth will assemble all creatures and resurrect them in His presence. If you persist in this reflection, your heart will lose its hardness and be purified of its murky confusion. If the building rests on a good foundation it will be firm and stable, but if it has no foundation its collapse will come quickly. If you construct your state (hal) on the rules (ahkam) of the outer law (hukm zahir), no creature will be able to demolish it, but if you do not construct it on this basis, no state will be firmly established for you, you will not attain to any station (maqam), and the hearts of the champions of truth (siddiqun) will always despise you and prefer not to see you."

There is nothing to be said until your heart and your mind and your face turn away from creatures and toward the Creator, so that your back is toward creatures and your face toward the Lord of Truth. Your outer being and your physical form must go toward creatures, and your inner being, your kernel (lubb) and your spiritual content (ma'na) toward the Creator. Then your heart will come to be like the hearts of the angels and the Prophets (nabiyyun).

O you who lay claim to knowledge, do not take from the hand of your lower self (nafs), your natural impulses (tab') and your devil (syaitan). Do not take from the hand of your present existence (wujud). Do not take from the hand of your pretense (riya') and your hypocrisy (nifaq). Your pious abstinence (zuhud) is on the outside (zahir), while your appetite is on the inside (batin). This is a futile abstinence, for which you will be punished. You are trying to cheat the Lord of Truth, but He knows what is in your private and public lives, and what is in your heart. In His presence there is no distinction between private and public, and there is no concealment.

When the human being is sound, there is none so sound as he. When he is pure, there is none so pure as he. When he is near to his Lord, there is none so near as he .. He has nothing left apart from the Lord of Truth, so at this point he says, "He is the First and the Last, the Outer and the Inner" (Qur'an 57:3). The Lord of Truth becomes his outer and his inner, his first and his last, his form and his content. He has nothing but Him, so now he establishes his love permanently with Him in this world and the hereafter.

// Credits: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts
