What to Watch on IFC in July

Every Monday and Wednesday this month, beginning at midnight, IFC is blending musical performances with indie film. Tune in for films inspired by rock n' roll, including "Last Days," directed by Gus Van Sant and loosely based on the death of Kurt Cobain. You can also catch "Festival Express," a rockumentary featuring amazing performances from some of the music industry's most influential names, including Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead. Also on the ticket, the Beatles classic "A Hard Day's Night," Australian import "Starstruck" and "Wild Man Blues," a doc about Woody Allen and his love for jazz. If you've ever wanted to know how a record company starts (and ends) from the bottom up, you have to see "24 Hour Party People," a deliriously good chronicle of the rise of Manchester's Factory Records and the scene that spawned the likes of New Order and the Happy Mondays. The party...

Chris Kattan, Bollywood Hero

Here's a first look at our brand new mini-series "Bollywood Hero"! "Bollywood Hero" is a three-night Bollywood musical event starring Chris Kattan that will premiere on IFC August 6, 7 and 8 at 10pm ET/PT. Kattan plays himself, sort of, in this scripted comedy -- tired of being rejected as a leading-man in Hollywood, he burns his professional bridges in L.A. and accepts a starring role in the Bollywood film "Peculiar Dancing Boy." Fresh off the plane, he's flung into a world of sibling rivalry, cultural faux pas, funding issues and power hungry starlets. In his quest to become Bollywood's leading leading man, Kattan unexpectedly finds a great dance instructor, trawls India's countryside for his co-star, falls in love and ultimately fulfills dreams he never even imagined. Facing culture clashes, language barriers and complex dance moves, Kattan will stop at nothing to conquer his destiny. Filmed over ten weeks on...

IFC America's Hottest Rocker Mom Contest-The Results

Though the forecast called for rain on June 3rd in the skies over Manhattan, the Gods of Metal and Rock persuaded Thor to stay his hammer so the IFC could host the America's Hottest Rocker Mom contest in Madison Square Park, NYC. After receiving hundreds of worthy submissions, the five finalists chosen were Kat Everson from Beverly Hills, CA; Natalie Hawkins of Conroe, TX; Shawna Owens from Cadalle, MI; Debra Diamant of Los Angeles, CA and Valerie Nerres from Las Vegas, NV. The event was a spectacle to behold. The distinguished panel of judges included stars Sebastian Bach, Constantine Maroulis, Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of NYC and the stars of Z Rock; Paulie Z, David Z and Joey of ZO2. Under the orchestrations of host Eddie Trunk, the finalists competed in four categories to determine who would claim the title. The Heavy Metal Moms were first judged on...

What to Watch on IFC in June

June is one busy month here at IFC. For starters, beginning Sunday, June 7th, our comedy series "Z Rock" make its rockin' return, with the ZO2 boys up to more antics at daytime kiddie parties and nightly rock gigs. And look out for numerous guest appearances, including American Idol alum-turned-Tony Award nominee (for his leading role in Broadway's "Rock of Ages") Constantine Maroulis, Frank Stallone, the hottest of real housewives Bethenny Frankel, along with recurrent stints from Dave Navarro, John Popper, Dee Snider and Joan Rivers, and much more. The show airs Sundays at 11e/p. Along with the return of "Z Rock," we're got a brand new Brit comedy that'll leave you feeling mighty, erm, high. "Ideal" follows Moz, who's just your average small-time shut-in hash dealer living in a run-down flat with his girlfriend and trying to get by. On a daily basis, Moz has to deal with an...

Dash Shaw comes to IFC.com

We hope you've gotten a chance to check out our latest web series "Like So Many Things...," and we're excited to be able to introduce a new web series that will premiere here on IFC.com in November. It's called "The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D.," and it's an original animated web series based on graphic novelist and comic book artist Dash Shaw's latest book, which is also set for release mid-November. We're huge fans of Shaw's work, which has been widely praised for its eclectic style, innovative design and emotional depth, and we're happy to be able to bring his work to IFC.com. The five-part web series chronicles the adventures of Rebel X-6, a man who works for a well-funded anti-droid organization in the not-so-near future. An artist guild that opposes the use of droids in art class hires Rebel X-6 to enter Art School 46 posing as...

What to Watch on IFC in May

"The IFC Media Project" returns this month to IFC with brand new episodes revealing the truth behind the news. Hosted by Gideon Yago, the series is a look into how the news is covered by mainstream media, from inception to how and when it hits the airwaves. Check it out, Sundays at 11pm beginning May 3rd. Also in May, IFC presents a brand new Original Documentary, "New World Order." From directors Luke Meyer and Andrew Neel, who brought "Darkon" to the screen, "New World Order" is about the underground world of conspiracy theorists and the anti-globalist movement. The film focuses on Texas-based radio host Alex Jones and some of his peers, who are on a mission to expose what they believe to be a massive conspiracy that threatens the world as we know it. It also looks into the 9/11 attacks and the Bilderberg Conference, a gathering of political and...

IFC's First Original Movie! Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter

We've proud to announce we've greenlit our first ever original telefilm, "Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter," based on Hamilton's series of best-selling paranormal fantasy novels and produced by Lionsgate and After Dark Films. Adapted by Glen Morgan ("X-Files," "Final Destination"), who also serves as executive producer, the movie begins production this summer. Mixing mystery, fantasy, and horror, the film will center on the character of Anita Blake, a street-savvy, down-to-earth vampire hunter with a lousy dating life and a penchant for bringing dead people back to life. Blake also works as a police consultant investigating preternatural crimes. Tough, sexy and independent, Blake battles the supernatural as she attempts to solve a variety of paranormal mysteries, come to terms with her own abilities and navigate a complex string of romantic and political relationships which include a master vampire and an Alpha werewolf. "I'm thrilled to be bringing my characters...

What to Watch on IFC in April

April showers have nothing on IFC's April Splatters. We've rounded up a few of our favorite scream-inducing films for one serious fright night. There's "It's Alive," featuring a mutated baby lizard monster on a rampage of evil; "Monkey Shines," about a helper monkey on, er, a rampage of evil; "Pumpkinhead," directed by special effects wiz Stan Winston; and "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer," based on the true story of the mass murderer who videotaped his brutal acts. It all starts pouring down at 8PM on Thursday, April 9th. On Thursday, April 23rd, kicking off at 8PM, we've got a night of indie (or at least indie in spirit) action, starts off with the one, the only "Robocop," from schlock auteur Paul Verhoeven, about a police officer turned cyborg on a mission of revenge. Next, Bruce Willis takes on the Irish and Italian mobs during the Prohibition era in the...

What to Watch on IFC in March

If you had the chance to see Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia this past year, you're already well aware of the fact that it's one of the most beautiful places in the world. Besides the breathtaking scenery, the continent is home to many talented filmmakers and actors. So this month, IFC is paying homage to the land down under with a weekend of films born and bred there. Tune in Saturday, March 28th and Sunday, March 29th for Golden Globe nominee Rabbit Proof Fence, IFC's premiere of The Nugget featuring Eric Bana, the crime-mystery Lantana, as well as famed Australian director Peter Weir's classic Picnic at Hanging Rock. Plus, you can also catch flicks from back in the 70's including My Brilliant Career and Newsfront. And, Aussies tackle musicals pretty damn well (did someone say Moulin Rouge?), so we've thrown in the 80's classic Starstruck. Be sure to check out a...
