For those of you who like to take care of their Guitar definitely use something useful and effective. Specially for the strings because the ability to play them stays smooth and they last much longer and obviously saves you money.

Today I have confronted a very cool tool known as “The Swipe” which comes with a very unique compact design that makes sure to enable easy access to surface of your Guitar and underneath of strings. It helps the strings to last longer, absorbent and soft. It quickly removes build up of corrosive sweat, grime and stuff like that. The company claims that this product is chemical free and won;t hard or damage finish on any instrument.

With “The Swipe” you can now save time and money on string replacement and fret wear. Regular string care enhances clarity, tone and playability.

The Swipe costs about $7.20 and can be ordered with free first class worldwide delivery

One of the most important things every one should learn while learning guitar is how to read guitar tabs. There are many guitarists who have contacted me regarding this. Sometimes it just becomes useless for beginners to learn anything when they’re not sure what to do with the tabs. I’ve posted many lessons along with guitar tabs so that it can help you understand better.

I would high recommend not to be totally dependent on tabs. Playing by ears is the best options for you. Don’t limit yourself to tabs and rock on. For those of you who still haven’t figured out how to read tabs should check out the video below brought to you by GuitarLessonInsider.

Choosing a guitar should not be a big problem for anyone. You choose a steel string acoustic, nylon string classical, semi acoustic or a solid body electric guitar. People may advice you to start off with a simple acoustic guitar but that is not important. It totally depends on the type of music you like to play. Choosing an acoustic would not be a great choice if you’re into heavy metal music now would it and obviously you will need an amp if you’re going for an electric guitar.

Each guitar has its own sound and feel. Spending a lot of money on your first guitar may not be a very good idea. It can be really nurve wrecking experience so its suggested to involve someone who already knows about guitars.

Buying a second hand guitar can be an ideal way of starting out as long as you take neccessary precautions. Here are a few tips that will help you buy a better guitar for yourself.

Set Your Budget

First of all, you will need to set your budget and buy the best quality guitar in that range. There is no greater motivation for you than hearing yourself succeed: the better your instrument, the more likely that is to happen. Any compromise here can result in disappointment. A cheap guitar may save you money but it is more likely to sound really bad and can be difficult to play as well.

FretBoard

If the fingerboard is curved or warped then it won’t be a good piece and the guitar will be difficult to play. To test it out, hold your guitar as if you were aiming a rifle and align your eye with the top surface of the fingerboard. It should appear perfectly even. If the top of the fingerboard appears to be twisted, put it down and ask for another guitar. This problem can be fixed by fitting in a new neck.

Action

The best definition of “Action” would be the difference between the top of the frets and the botton of the string. If the action is low, your don’t have to press down your finger so hard on the fingerboard which makes a guitar much easier to play but if the action is too low it may result in a buzz. It’s a good idea to play each and every single note on the guitar before you make your final decision.

Sustain

Play each note to make sure they sustain properly before you buy a guitar. The life/length of time a note lasts before it fades out is known as Sustain. You may experience some dead notes on the guitar while checking it out. Avoid guitars with these problems.

Every Body want’s to become a better guitarist or at least good enough to easily impressive the people around you. I’ve come up with a few tips that are definitely going to help you improve your Guitar skills.

Stay in Tune

Before you play anything you need to make sure that your guitar is all tuned up. If it doesn’t sound right than you’re obviously out of tune. If you’re not sure how to tune a guitar manually you can always use a Tuner otherwise try the following technique.

“By comparing fretted notes to open strings”

This is one the most common ways to tune your guitar. Just follow the instructions below to learn this tunning method.

Tuning Your 5th String
You can use your 6th string to tune your 5th string.

1. Pluck the 6th string at the 5th fret as shown in the picture below.
2. Adjust the open 5th string until it has the same pitch as your fretted 6th string.

E——————-
B——————-
G——————-
D——————-
A—-0————–
e–5—————-

Tuning Your 4th String

Now use the same technique for the rest of the string.

1. Pluck the 5th string at the 5th fret.
2. Adjust the open 4th string until it has the same pitch as your fretted 5th string.

E——————
B——————
G——————
D—-0————-
A–5—————
e——————

Tuning Your 3rd String

1. Pluck the 4th string at the 5th fret.
2. Adjust the open 3rd string until it has the same pitch as your fretted 4th string.

E——————
B——————
G—-0————-
D–5—————
A——————
e——————

Tuning Your 2nd String

1. Pluck the 3rd string at the 4th fret.
2. Adjust the open 2nd string until it has the same pitch as your fretted 3rd string.

E——————
B—-0————-
G–4—————
D——————
A——————
e——————

Tuning Your 1st String

1. Pluck the 4th string at the 5th fret.
2. Adjust the open 3rd string until it has the same pitch as your fretted 4th string.

E—-0————-
B–5—————
G——————
D——————
A——————
e——————

Metronome

Metronome is any device that is used to maintain steady beats in musical compositions. It only makes sense that you practice your music in time and stay within the tempo of the song

Record your Song

Doesn’t matter if it’s a cover or your original piece. Try to record them and listen to it. This way you will get a better idea of how your playing really sounds like. It might sound crappy in the start but that’s how you gotta roll.

You can use these software to record your guitars with backing tracks or compose the whole thing yourself.

Scales and Chords

Learn and memorize as many chords and scales as you can to build your own music.

Depending on Guitar Tabs

I really wouldn’t suggest you to be dependant on guitar tabs because this is what everybody is doing now a day. They do sure help you understand the music but it’s best if you learn by Ear

Keep yourself motivated by practicing all your favorite songs. Play different styles of music so that you don’t get bored or stuck. Not only that go easy, relax and don’t push it so hard because honestly learning guitar can really be a frustrating job in the start. Play at least one hour a day and for beginners try to start off with an acoustic guitar. That will help you build strength in your hands

The lead of a pencil is made from flake graphite a wonderful natural lubricant. Rub a pencil lead on the nut slots & saddle to reduce friction to allow the strings to move more freely over these surfaces without snagging which results in string breakage.

A reason of it breaking again and again is that you play too hard. What happens is that when you hit a string, it bends more at the saddle or bridge than anywhere else. After all, the other end is a long way from your pick. Enough bending and flexing, and the string fatigues and breaks. If you pick really hard right next to the bridge you’ll be more likely to break strings than if you play over the sound hole. It’s a simple matter of how much you bend the string at the saddle when you hit it.

One of the best tips my teacher gave me was to drop the tunning half step back so that you can bend more than you actually do on a standard tuning without breaking the string. I broke at least 3 strings to learn the guitar solo of November Rain by Guns N Roses then I found out that it really is played on drop tunning and the moment I changed my tunning I’m really glad that I never broke a string since.
