Lou Dobbs has one night stand with Bill O’Reilly

Lou Dobbs, the guy who became “controversial” on CNN by saying things most Americans agree with, is heading for Fox News.

Dobbs announced Wednesday that he is leaving CNN, which set off rumors that he’ll be joining Fox News or Fox Business. While that hasn’t happened yet, he will join O’Reilly on Monday night for an extended interview.

If you can’t see it live, set your Tivo to record Monday night’s O’Reilly show.

This should be good.

The Chrysler Peapod has come to the end of the road

Chrysler, part of the Obama Motors cabal, says its electric cars are dead. Not the batteries, the whole damn program. A huge pile of your tax dollars were at its bedside when it died.

Fox News reports Detroit’s latest tale of woe:

Chrysler has disbanded a team of engineers dedicated to rushing a range of electric vehicles to showrooms and dropped ambitious sales targets for battery-powered cars set as it was sliding toward bankruptcy and seeking government aid.

The move by Fiat SpA marks a major reversal for Chrysler, which had used its electric car program as part of the case for a $12.5 billion federal aid package.

As late as August, Chrysler took $70 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a test fleet of 220 hybrid pickup trucks and minivans, vehicles now scrapped in the sweeping turnaround plan for Chrysler announced this week by Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.

So Chrysler used the electric car scam to get a $12.5 billion bailout and then took another $70 million in grants and now they’re closing down the program less than 90 days later?

Bait and switch from a car dealer. Who ever would have expected that?

Good for thee, but not for me: Congressional Democrats don’t want to be covered by ObamaCare

Czar Nicholas. Or maybe a Congressional Democrat. We're not sure which.

Life is good for Democrats in Congress. Kind of like life was good for the Russian Czars (not to be confused with the Obama Czars). They pass laws and regulations willy-nilly with nary a thought that those laws and regulations should apply to them.

CNSnews.com reports that, “Critics of the health care bill said they offered the 11 amendments – including some that would require the president, vice president, and Supreme Court justices to give up their Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) to enroll in the ‘public option’ or Medicaid – to showcase the problems with the massive legislation.”

“If Congress forces our constituents into a public option plan over time,” noted Rep. Howard McKeon, a California Republican, “then members of Congress should be expected to do the same.”

“It became apparent then that Democrats are afraid of being put on a government-run health care program,” McKeon added, “but that fear does not extend to the welfare of their own constituents.”

“This is one of those classic hypocritical moments for the Democrats,” said Matt Lavoie, a spokesman for Representative Wally Herger, a California Republican. “They simply don’t want to put up with the public option that they are preparing to inflict on the American public.”

Could this be true? Of course not. Don’t be silly. Nothing could be further from the truth according to Vincent Morris, communications director for the Democrat-controlled House Rules Committee.

“The reason we didn’t support those amendments is because the public option was created precisely to give the American people a choice between private and public [insurance], Morris noted. “Given that all Americans have a choice about whether to join the public option, we thought it didn’t make any sense to force members of Congress to join.”

Bottom line: We’re amazed to see the words “sense” and “Congress” in the same sentence.

President boosts number of jobs created or saved to 1,000,000. Seriously, that’s what he said.

Oddly enough, the number of jobs the Obama administration claims to have saved or created keeps rising. Right along with unemployment.

Obviously, the two stats are mutually exclusive. And based on investigations by newspapers around the country, the President’s stat is as phony as Joe Biden’s hairline.

Let’s start in Massachusetts with this information from the Boston Globe:

While Massachusetts recipients of federal stimulus money collectively report 12,374 jobs saved or created, a Globe review shows that number is wildly exaggerated. Organizations that received stimulus money miscounted jobs, filed erroneous figures, or claimed jobs for work that has not yet started.

The Globe details some of the “errors.”

One of the largest reported jobs figures comes from Bridgewater State College, which is listed as using $77,181 in stimulus money for 160 full-time work-study jobs for students. But Bridgewater State spokesman Bryan Baldwin said the college made a mistake and the actual number of new jobs was “almost nothing.’’ Bridgewater has submitted a correction, but it is not yet reflected in the report.

In other cases, federal money that recipients already receive annually – subsidies for affordable housing, for example – was reclassified this year as stimulus spending, and the existing jobs already supported by those programs were credited to stimulus spending. Some of these recipients said they did not even know the money they were getting was classified as stimulus funds until September, when federal officials told them they had to file reports.

“There were no jobs created. It was just shuffling around of the funds,’’ said Susan Kelly, director of property management for Boston Land Co., which reported retaining 26 jobs with $2.7 million in rental subsidies for its affordable housing developments in Waltham. “It’s hard to figure out if you did the paperwork right. We never asked for this.’’

The federal stimulus report for Massachusetts has so many errors, missing data, or estimates instead of actual job counts that it may be impossible to accurately tally how many people have been employed by the massive infusion of federal money. Massachusetts is expected to receive an estimated $1 billion more in stimulus contracts, grants, and loans.

Next, the Denver Post took a closer look at the 8,094 jobs the administration claims to have created or saved in Colorado:

• Englewood-based TeleTech Government Solutions listed the equivalent of 635 full-time jobs credited to Colorado created by recovery funds used to set up call centers on the conversion to digital television. Only the equivalent of 34 of them were filled in Colorado. The rest are scattered across the country.

• The city of Westminster reported that its $150,438 contract for road work on Lowell Boulevard would create 117 jobs. That would equate to $1,286 per job. The city said the estimate is based on anyone who will work on the project, even if it was for only one day. No federal officials told the city to convert to the number of full-time-equivalent slots, an official said.

• Two child-development centers — one in Colorado Springs and the other in Saguache County — reported they had created or saved more than 292 jobs combined. However, the money — totaling about $650,000, or $2,226 a job — was used to give employees cost- of-living raises. Only three new jobs were created.

• Some subsidized-housing projects listed their entire staffs as jobs retained as a result of stimulus spending even if the money was the same rental assistance for their tenants they had received in previous years. Combined, they could total as many as 200 jobs.

And in Washington, the Tacoma News-Tribune reports even more bogus job figures:

New numbers released by the federal government Friday estimate that the federal stimulus package has helped create or save 34,500 total jobs in Washington, making it the state with the third-largest reported number of stimulus jobs behind California and New York.

But there’s a caveat on those job creation numbers: 24,000 of them probably weren’t in danger in the first place.

State officials used a chunk of stimulus money to cover paychecks for 24,000 teachers who were already contracted to finish out the school year. That money came from a pot of stimulus funds given to the state to help offset budget cuts.

The story is the same in state after state – Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, and on and on.

This. Administration. Just. Make. Shit. Up.

Remember back during the campaign when Obama didn’t quite get the concept of the national anthem (bottom photo)? Based on recent Veterans Day ceremonies (top photo), he still doesn’t.

Maybe things would have been different if they’d been playing the Kenyan national anthem.

At Current TV, a smile is just a frown turned upside down

Current TV, Al Gore’s nearly viewerless cable news channel, is slashing its its staff by 80 people.

But do not make the mistake of thinking the layoffs had anything to do with cutting costs. Hell, no. The company said it’s all part of a reshifting of priorities.

The priorities that reshifted were, of course, the company’s and not the employees’.

Here’s how Current attempted to spin the bad news:

This re-organization was not the result of a need to cut costs. Current Media will have its most profitable year. This financial stability will allow the company to re-allocate resources in order to put further emphasis on areas of the business believed to best position Current Media for continued long-term growth.

Not the most believable spin in the history of American business. As Gawker.com noted, “…when a company cuts 80 employees from a total staff of 380, it’s pretty absurd to claim this 21 percent payroll decrease isn’t about reducing costs, especially after the network cut 60 jobs a year ago.”

In other news, the Obama administration announced that although 80 jobs had been slashed at Current TV, 300 had been saved or created.

All hail the Goracle. All hail the stimulus.

The closer Democrats look at November 3rd’s election results, the less they like ‘em

Nancy Pelosi gives the Democrat's version of V for victory sign

Nancy Pelosi says the Democrats won last week’s elections. Who knows – she may even believe it. But no one else is buying her version of the story.

For example, RedState.com dug a little deeper into the results and Nancy’s not going to like what they found. Not at all.

Down ballot, in races for lower offices, including state legislatures and mayors, it gets worse. Republicans rolled to easy double digit victories in the Virginia Attorney General and Lt. Governor races. In the Lt. Governor’s race, Bill Bolling, who won by just 1 percent in 2005, won by 12 points. Republicans gained 6 seats (pending one recount) in the State Assembly, giving them a 61-37-2 majority. Republicans gained a seat in the New Jersey House. Republicans took control of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and won six of seven statewide races in the Keystone State. Republicans gained in the heavily populated New York City suburbs, taking control of both Westchester County and Nassau County for the first time in a decade. They even gained a couple seats on the New York City Council (in addition to the re-election of their sort-of Republican Mayor Bloomberg). In Michigan, in a special election for a state senate seat that had gone Democratic by 61-39 when it was last up in 2006, the Republican flipped the landslide around and won 61-36. Republicans also flipped a New Hampshire state house seat in a special election.

Add this to the flood of elected Texas Democrat officials switching party affiliation and and you get the makings of what some might call a negative trend.

Of course, that’s not what Nancy Pelosi calls it. She calls it a victory.

If this is victory, let’s pray that Obama doesn’t consult with Pelosi on Afghanistan strategy.

Congresswoman wants to crack down dangerous religious extremists

You can sleep soundly tonight, America, secure in the knowledge that Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey is out to get the evil Catholics

Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, a Democrat from California, says the government needs to wake up and take a close look at the dangerous religious extremists who live among us.

Congratulations, Congresswomen Woolsey. It’s about time someone challenges those murderous Muslims.

What’s that? Woolsey wasn’t talking about murderous Muslims? She was talking about Catholics?

Yes, sir and yes, maam. Woolsey wants the IRS to investigate the possibility that the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops did something – anything, really – during the ObamaCare debate that might threaten its tax-exempt status. In a direct violation of the separation of church and state, Woolsey is almost praying that the IRS can dig up some dirt.

Job well done, Congresswoman Woolsey. We, too, have had our eye on those Catholics for a long time and we say it’s about time someone else catches on to them.

Those Saturday night bingo games are obviously terrorist fundraisers. And who really knows what the St. Vincent DePaul Society is doing with those old shirts we gave them.

Shape up, Catholics. Uncle Sam knows what you’re up to.

C’mon, now, surely this ensemble will convince even the most ardent Michelle Obama worshippers that Michelle Obama is not America’s First Lady of Fashion.

She showed dressed like your grandmother at Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day.

OK, maybe your grandmother never wore disco boots and maybe she wasn’t built like an NFL linebacker, but if she had and if she was, she would have looked something like this.

And one more thing: enough with the ammobelt, Michelle. Nobody’s looked good wearing one since Pancho Villa.
