CBS approved an ensemble comedy pilot written by Louis C.K. and Spike Feresten. NBCUniversal's Universal Television division and BermanBraun are producing the untitled project about a group of young people working to achieve their creative dreams even in tough financial times. Louis C.K. helms his own show Louie on FX and he and Feresten will be executive producers along with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and BermanBraun's Gene Stein.

FOX picked up an untitled comedy pilot from Mindy Kaling (NBC's The Office) where the writer/actress would star in a role described as a young Bridget Jones-type doctor trying to navigate her personal and professional lives. Universal Television is producing; Kaling will pen the project and be an executive producer. Howard Klein will serve as a nonwriting EP.

Having moved to Florida recently, I practically can never be at the game. But, thanks to Volvo - I'll be at the February 19th home game in my very own VolvoS60!

Obviously, my first selection of where to watch the game when I can't actually be at it is from my pimped out VolvoS60, referenced HERE. Below is a reminder straight from the original post:

Game watching will be available no matter WHERE the Volvo S60 is parked. Maybe we're tailgating in the Rutgers parking lot, but are too lazy to walk into the stadium - not.a.problem - we'll have a TV hooked up from the trunk of our car. (Please note: this is an example from a vehicle that is not as awesome as a Volvo S60)

I mean, if I own a VolvoS60 with a TV in the trunk and a toiletbowl in the front seat, I'm just not sure why I would actually go anywhere else to watch the game. Would you?

Since I have yet to win (hopefully!) and pimp my car out like this, I am going to let you all know the places in and around Palm Beach Gardens (where I now live) that I like to watch Rutgers games. Clearly, they all coincide with the best places to eat wings, as well. Go figure. The best part about watching games at bars in South Florida is that most of them also have an outside section - also with TV's, so you really get to enjoy nice weather, great beers and a fabulous team play some basketball!

DUFFY's

A favorite of Thrillist, Urban Daddy and The Miami Herald, Duffy's Sports Grill is a staple here in South Florida. With great wings, over 30 TVs in each establishment and a fabulous variety of beers on tap, its no wonder this place is so successful!

Hurricane Grill and Wings

The now-franchise opened its first doors in Florida and prides itself in using REAL chicken and meats. Also, the eco-friendly utopia recycles a percentage of their used oil into bio-diesel fuel.

Miller's Ale House

There's no way I can NOT love this place when it has "ZINGERS" in their menu! Zingers, another name for wings at Miller's, come in a variety of flavors and options.

Brass Ring Pub

This hidden gem has grown in popularity solely by word of mouth. They do no marketing, advertising or any sort of public relations. They don't even have a website. But, if you were to ask the "locals" where the best place is for wings, burgers and some sports-watching - most would say the Brass Ring Pub. My hubby introduced me to this place and I have only him to thank for the extra few pounds this place has caused me to gain.

Throughout this whole Volvo Biggest Fan of the Big East Challenge process, I have been REPRESENTING my team, Rutgers, and Volvo in the biggest way possible. Dork or no dork, I ALWAYS go out to watch the games wearing my Volvo-sponsored hat, Volvo-sponsored t-shirt and toting my Volvo-sponsored beer cozy!

It's no secret that I'm OBSESSED with ID Discovery. In my bedroom, that is the only channel that the TV is automatically tuned to. (Downstairs, it's HGTV - duh.)

Being the wannabe investigator that I am, the ID channel provides me with an insatiable desire to try and figure out how the crime happened, 'work' alongside the criminal investigators to figure out criminal profiles and basically - well, it basically just gives me a rush!

ID has recently grown in popularity, no doubt due in part to their amazing social media efforts and constant new programming. On Twitter, every tweet is ended with the hashtag "#IDAddicts," so it's only natural that the network's next step would be to create a social networking website where IDAddicts can communicate and discuss the programs. [NOTE TO SELF: Next time a hashtag gains extreme popularity and trends, purchase the domain name of said hashtag and wait until someone buys it off of you.]

I LOVE how ID Discovery really and truly KNOWS their audience. It's certainly a specific niche, but one with the same mindset, making it easy to communicate with people who just "get it."

I'm not talking about AIDS. I'm talking about the kinds of viruses you get from Facebook and through your email. Sure, getting a virus on your computer is super annoying and can render your machine useless for a short period of time until you get it fixed. But, I'll argue that getting a virus on your EMAIL address is even more annoying.

Not only do you have to change the password immediately on your account from the website (in my case, Gmail) but you also have to go into every single connected Apple product you have! So, if I'm changing my password on Gmail, I have to go into my iPad, iPhone and any other i-device and change it there as well in an effort to continue to successfully receive emails. Same goes for Facebook!

Hate viruses.

Volvo's Biggest Fan of the Big East Challenge #5 invites us to talk about the best traditions at our alma mater. For SURE that song just summed them all up!

Clearly, they want me to talk about how I traditionally went and partied at the Skull House and traditionally ate a Fat Sandwich on my stumble back to the dorms. Or, perhaps they want to know about my traditional April 20th parties, complete with personal goodie bags that were handed out to everyone who showed up? No...doubt it. I'm pretty sure they want PG traditions as they relate to Rutgers in general, as well as to sports. Well, I can do that!

First of all, I wanted to commend Volvo on these awesome challenge topics. Having graduated eight years ago (ew!) it's really awesome to write about Rutgers and experience the nostalgia. So...traditions. What kinds of traditions does Rutgers University have? I can honestly tell you that you are about to LEARN something here about Rutgers and history - especially if you watch the videos.

Let's start with the OLDEST LIVING tradition - our alma mater song. And, what better way to showcase it with THEE "oldest living" tradition - get it?

Perhaps the most known is our school chant, sung with pride at every single athletic event. This tradition, as you can see, starts very early in a future Rutgers student's life...R-U, RAH RAH R-U RAH RAH WHOO RAA, WHOO RAA, RUTGERS RAH! UPSTREAM RED TEAM, RED TEAM UP-STREAM, RAH, RAH, RUTGERS RAH!!!!

Another big tradition is at Rutgers Commencement. This is where tradition mixes with superstition. Undergraduates break clay pipes over the Class of 1877 Cannon monument in front of Old Queens, symbolizing the breaking of ties with the college and leaving behind the good times of their graduate years (sigh.) Why the clay pipes? It's a symbolic gesture that dates back to when pipe-smoking was cool among undergrads and when smoking the pipe was an evening of fun times with your friends. Yes...apparently this is a "back in the day" tradition because undergrads no longer smoke pipes of any kind [insert sarcasm here.]

During commencement, graduating seniors walk in academic procession under the Class of 1902 Memorial Gateway on Hamilton Street leading into the Voorhees Mall. Tradition and superstition states that students who walk under the gate BEFORE graduating will NOT graduate in their four years.

ATHLETIC TRADITIONS

As for sports, the "Ringing of the Bell" is an important tradition and is saved only for the most victorious of events. For example, when the Rutgers women's basketball team advanced to the NCAA finals during the 2006-2007 season.

During football games, the biggest tradition is the "Cannon Firing" which happens whenever Rutgers scores. The cannon goes back to the 1870s when there was the great cannon war between Rutgers and Princeton. Apparently, students from Princeton had stolen a cannon from Rutgers and Rutgers students took it back in 1875.

Another great tradition amongst fans is called the "Scarlet Walk" which takes place before a Rutgers home game. Players walk from the bus to the stadium and is a great way for the fans and players to interact!

Not all traditions are OLD, either! Football Coach Gregg Schiano started one where before each game, a player will take an ax and drive it into a stump of wood. The act symbolizes his motto of "keep chopping."

CULTURAL TRADITIONS

The Grease Trucks which you probably already know about. The truck-based food vendors are conveniently located on the College Avenue Campus near Frat Row. They serve "Fat Sandwiches" with help fulfill another NATIONAL tradition, The Freshman 15.

The Dance Marathon is a student-run organization that consists of a year-long series of fundraisers and culminates with the annual Marathon on April 5-6 in the COllege Avenue Gym. Over 400 dancers pledge to raiser funds and remain standing for 32 hours without sleeping. The Dancers, along with over 500 volunteers and counless visitors, are entertained by live bands, comedians, prize giveaways, games, sports, a mechanical bull, and more! This tradition has been in place since 1999 and to date has raised over $1.3 million for the Embrace Kids Foundation.

RutgersFest is a day-long event which takes place outdoors on Livingston Campus. It's designed to promote college spirit through student organization participation with activities and entertainment throughout the day and free concert and fireworks at night. Musical guests have included Kanye, Everclear, Sugar Ray, Ludacris, Third Eye Blind and more. SADLY, after several violent incidents that happened during the 2011 concert (um - gunshot wounds!) which resulted in President Richard McCormick ENDING this tradition. So sad.

Throughout all of these traditions, the most important part of Rutgers are the students, alumni, family, friends, celebrities and little ones who keep them alive. Rutgers University would not be what it is today without Rutgers FANatics:

Still, perhaps the biggest fan of all, is the one who combines their school pride with a VolvoS60. I am COMMITTED to changing my VolvoS60 to look exactly like the model in my previous post (picture below) so I will always remember the four years of my life that really changed me as a person - and the car company that reminded me of that through their competition.

Golden Globe Viewing Parties have grown to become quite a trend. Complete with spreadsheets galore, friends get together to enjoy the show and try and "win" at their guesses of who will win which award. But, what's a party without some fantabulous cocktails? Nothing, really. Here's a quick roundup of some awesome cocktails that pay homage to this years nominees - perfect for your Golden Globe Viewing Party!

One of this season’s most talked about flicks was Brad Pitt’s box office homerun (pun intended) Moneyball. Nominated for Best Motion Picture in the Drama category, it’s no wonder our boy Brad is still regarded as one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Celebrate one of the year’s best movies with this baseball inspired cocktail.

Take Me Out To The Moneyball-game

1 oz. Frangelico

2 oz. Wild Turkey 101

1 oz. Amaretto

.25 oz. squeezed lemon juice

1 pinch salt

4 oz. soda water

Handful of Cracker Jack, finely crushed

Rub half a lemon around the rim of a glass and place into crushed Cracker Jack to coat the rum. Combine Wild Turkey, Frangelico, Amaretto, lemon juice and salt in a shaker. Mix and strain into a glass with rocks and top with soda

water.

As a fan favorite, Glee continuously scores nominations due to its high energy musical numbers and unique style. Nominated for Best Television Series in a Comedy or Musical, we predict the Glee Club will be taking home the gold(en globes, that is). My personal favorite movie of the year was Bridesmaids, and I’m glad the critics agree. 1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix

Supernatural Sip

1 part LUCID®

1 part White Creme de Cocao

1 part Coconut Milk

Drizzle of Black Sambucca

Combine LUCID, White Creme de Cocao and Coconut Milk in a shaker filled with ice. Shake till Frothy and strain into a short rocks glass over ice. Drizzle Black Sambucca down the side of the glass until it floats on the bottom and diffuses through the cocktail.

And last, but certainly not least, an ode to the smokin’ hot actor that’s nominated for two awards, Ryan Gosling. Need I say more? I didn’t think so.

Recently, I was having some issues with my Macbook. It was running very slowly in general, but especially when toggling between websites. Given my previous experience with Geek Squad (not always the best,) I decided to try a different alternative - one which would allow me the convenience of having my computer looked at and hopefully fixed from the comfort of my own home: iYogi.
