Mason Jar Centerpiece Workshop

At the workshop, you will get to meet and learn from the local maker of AJM Interiors, Nicole. Attendees will each get an unfinished wooden box and three unpainted mason jars. Nicole will walk you through painting the mason jars, staining your wooden box, customizing the message, and more. Tickets are $48.00 and are going fast. Located at 119 E. Hargett St, in the historic Raleigh Furniture Building, the beloved NC t-shirt company is to inhibit the space near Moore’s Square and aims to create an atmosphere that combines retail and community interaction.

How it all started…

House of Swank’s founder, John Pugh, bought a $50 screen-printing kit in 2011 with the idea of making music-themed t-shirts to sell along with a 5-song CD. In addition, he also started making t-shirts featuring all things NC and Raleigh, from barbecue to moonshine. Quickly, his fun loving, community inspired t-shirts had taken off and House of Swank was founded as an official business in 2012. House of Swank has created a name for itself as a company that, “helps people celebrate life, food, culture, and favorite places.”

The move to the historic Raleigh Furniture Building allows this retail shop to not only sell their amazing merchandise but also highlight the art of screen-printing and craft by which the merch is created. The three-story brick building was built in 1914 and was a furniture store for most of the 20th century. The Romanesque Revival style building is a contributing structure to the Moore Square National Register District and has also been designated as a landmark by the City of Raleigh- just another awesome tie House of Swank has to the Raleigh Community and the state of North Carolina. The new location aims to not only act as a retail fixture in downtown Raleigh, but also create a space that is, “easily accessible to host music and maker workshops for community engagement and corporate events.”
