Apple released watchOS 9 for every Apple Watch user with a Series 4 or newer last month. It was a major update with new features like a revamped Workout app, new sleep features, improved notifications, and more. Although no major problems or bugs have been found recently, Apple has now released watchOS 9.0.2 to solve a number of issues like the microphone and Spotify streaming.

After watchOS 9.0.1 for the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple has made watchOS 9.0.2 available for all models running watchOS 9. Recently, some issues with the microphone surfaced in the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra, and the good news is that this issue is fixed. Apple has also solved a streaming problem with Spotify.

To perform the update on your Apple Watch Ultra, do the following on the paired iPhone:

Go to My Watch > General.
Tap Software Update and wait for the update to download.
Hang the Apple Watch on the charger and wait patiently for the update to install.
While the Apple Watch is updating, keep the paired iPhone nearby so it doesn’t interrupt the update process. Updating the Apple Watch can take a long time, so be patient. In any case, make sure that the connection to the charger is not broken.

Keep in mind that to complete the installation, you need to put the Apple Watch on the charger.

You can also update directly via the Apple Watch Ultra itself:

Open the Settings app on the Apple Watch.
Go to General > Software Update.
Wait for the Apple Watch to search for the update.
Tap Download.

After downloading, place the Apple Watch on the charger. The installation will start automatically.

At the event yesterday, Apple announced the new AirPods Pro 2022 with an improved and solid charging case. This update brings several new features, especially on the audio front, thanks to a new H2 processor that further improves the listening experience. However, there is a novelty for the controls that will please many users.

Apple updated the AirPods Pro 2022 for the first time since its release a few years ago. The second generation model of Apple’s in-ear headphones introduces several innovations, starting with the new H2 chip that promises improvements in both connections to devices and bandwidth transfer. The Apple Watch Ultra has a new design compared to the previous models. The new model is made out of titanium, similar to the Apple Watch Edition from previous years. But it’s not just the material that differs from the regular Apple Watch. The Digital Crown and the side button are combined in a separate block on the side, which should provide extra protection. In addition, the slots of the Digital Crown are a lot larger, making it easier to operate.

What also this watch striking is the flat screen design that lies more on top of the housing, instead of the housing running smoothly into the screen as with the other models, and 36 hours of battery life, up to 60 hours battery. And speaking of the housing, it is rounded just like the other models, so the Apple Watch Ultra has no flat sides.

Apple has officially unveiled the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus respectively featuring 6.1″ and 6.7″ displays with no notch. In terms of design, the two models are the same as the iPhone 13 series and are virtually identical, except in size.

It comes in 5 different colors: midnight, purple, galaxy, and red. The big change in iPhone 14 Plus is its new 6.7-inch screen, the same as the Pro Max, while the previous 5.4-inch “mini” model is no longer available. Both models have the same Retina XDR OLED display with True Tone, Haptic Touch, and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits.

Display

In addition to the screen size, the iPhone 14 Plus will also offer the same longer-lasting battery as the Pro Max. Apple said the iPhone 14 line offers “the best battery life ever in an iPhone”. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are also equipped with the Ceramic Shield front shell and are protected from water and dust.

Specs

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature the A15 chip, a six-core processor already used in the iPhone 13 Pro. The chip used has a five-core GPU, a six-core GPU with two cores for high performance and four cores for energy efficiency, the 16-core Neural Engine, and the Image Signal Processor.

Camera

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also feature a new dual camera system. In addition to the ultrawide camera, the 12-megapixel front camera features a new larger sensor with f/1.5 aperture and 1.9-micron pixels) to capture light and produce better images with more detail and less noise, especially in low-light environments. Apple claims these enhancements improve low-light photography by 49% over the previous generation. Night mode is now twice as fast. In the front, there is a new 12MP front camera (f / 1.9 aperture) with autofocus. The True Tone flash has also been improved and now ensures 10% more brightness.

Apple says it has applied Deep Fusion image processing to the early stages of image shooting, improving low-light performance and color rendition, and calls this the “Photonic Engine” technology. Video recording also receives a new stabilization mode, called Action Mode, which uses the entire sensor for gimbal-like stability.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus can connect to satellite networks with the Emergency SOS function for emergencies where normal cell towers are not reachable. When you send messages using the new function, they are displayed in gray within the Messages app.

Apple says it can take less than 15 seconds to send a message with a clear view of the sky. You can also use the Find My app to share your location without sending a message. The service is free for two years with the purchase of the iPhone 14 models.

Price and availability 

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available to pre-order starting Friday, September 9. Shipments will arrive starting on September 16 for the iPhone 14 and October 7 for the iPhone 14 Plus, when the new models will be available for purchase in all Apple Stores and authorized stores.

 The upcoming Apple Watch Pro version should bring new changes to attract new users. When it comes to this new version would have a titanium chassis to be more robust. We expect this Pro version of the Apple Watch to cost more than the standard version, says Gurman. The first rumors suggest a price range between $850 and $1000 for this new version.

iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 release brings bug fixes and performance improvements that cause the Apple Music icon to be added to the dock automatically after the app re-installation. With this new update, the Music app icon appears on the last page of the home screen, just like any other app installed or reinstalled from the App Store.

As Apple described that iOS 15.6 improvements includes the following bug fixes, and security updates:

• The TV app adds the option to restart a live sports competition already in progress and pause, rewind or fast forward (only in countries where live sporting events are available on Apple TV +).
• Fix an issue where Settings could continue to indicate that the device was out of space even though it was available.
• Fix an issue where Braille devices could be slow or unresponsive when browsing text in Mail.
• Fix an issue in Safari where a panel could go back to a previous page.
• This update also fixes several security bugs, so it is important to update as soon as possible.

To update, you can head into Settings> General> Software Update on the iPhone or iPad.

iFixit repair disassembled the new MacBook Air M2 to reveal what’s inside. one of the main changes in this new MacBook Air is the speakers.

In a four minutes videos, the results simply show some minimal design with an accelerometer and a simple cooling mechanism. It doesn’t mean this machine is easier to repair. Most of the logic board and battery connectors are hidden and protected, but disconnecting them isn’t very difficult.

The Macbook Air logic board is compact and protected by a metal shield which is also not surprising that the Cupertino company soldered the components to the logic board.

As confirmed by Apple, iFixit findings reveal that the MacBook Air M2 comes with a single 256GB NAND chip for the SSD in its entry-level configuration. Similar to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, this results in slower SSD performance than models with two NAND chips combined.

While the read speeds of the MacBook M1’s SSD reach nearly 3GB/s, the 256GB SSD in the new MacBook M2 hardly reaches up to 1.5GB/s. Basically, half the speed of the previous generation MacBooks and the more expensive M2 models with large internal memory.

The MacBook Air M2 includes a new Thunderbolt 3 driver manufactured by Apple instead of Intel, a USI chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (and no ultra-wideband), and an accelerometer, a sensor used to detect motion. It is uncertain why Apple has inserted one of these sensors inside a Mac, but it could be related to an unreleased feature or to a system that detects during service if the user accidentally dropped the Mac.

iFixit also notes that the MacBook Air M2 does not have a heat sink, so it relies solely on thermal paste and graphite tape to decrease the heat from internal components. Pending further testing, the MacBook Air M2 is likely to heat up much more than fan-equipped MacBook Pro M2s, at least when performing super-demanding tasks.

Apple glued the 52.6 Wh battery to the case with stickers, and the Force Touch trackpad is easily removable.

Is the MacBook Air M2 repairable? While you can replace some components, doing so is not exactly safe and requires the right tools. Obviously, Apple can not replace stuff like the CPU or SSD, So we’re talking about the battery, trackpad, speakers, and keyboard.

The new MacBook Air 2022 with an M2 chip starts at $1,199 for the 256GB version and $1,499 for the 512GB version. On Amazon, the new MacBook Air 2022 is already available at the same list prices but with the advantage of being able to pay the amount in installments directly with Amazon and without interest.

The first public beta of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 is available to download. Before proceeding with the guide, remember that the public beta is still a test update and that there may be bugs, various problems, and incompatibilities with some third-party apps. From our tests, there are no particular issues on the iPhone and iPad, but we recommend that you perform a backup of your device before proceeding with the beta installation.

Apple also released a revised version of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 beta 3 for developers (version 20A5312). Here’s how to install it:

First, back up your data, then follow the steps below:

• Connect your iOS device to a Mac or PC using a Lightning or USB-C cable
• Open Finder on Mac or iTunes on PC
• Click on the device icon in the menu
• Under Back up and restore manually, click Back up now.
• Check the Backup Encryption checkbox if you want to back up your login credentials and any Health and HomeKit data.
• Once the backup is finished, you will need to locate it and create a copy following the official Apple guide depending on the operating system you are using.
• If you have enabled iCloud backup, just go to Settings> iCloud and tap on iCloud Backup and then Back Up Now.

Remember that backups saved on iOS 16 will not be able to be restored on iOS 15 or earlier.

How to install the iOS 16 beta

Once you’ve backed up, it’s time to install the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 public betas:

• From your iPhone or iPad, go to beta.apple.com
• Click on Sign In at the top right and log in with your Apple ID. If you are not yet registered in the program, click on Sign Up and register by simply entering your Apple ID and accepting the terms and conditions).
• From the top menu, select Enroll your Devices, then select iOS (or iPadOS if you’re on iPad)
• Scroll down, click on Download Profile and accept the installation of the profile by clicking on Allow
• Now go to Settings and at the top, you will find a new tab dedicated to the newly installed profile (“Profile downloaded”). Click on it to open it
• Click on Install at the top right and confirm
• After entering the security code and completing the installation, the device must be restarted.

Once the reboot is complete, you can install the iOS 16 public beta just like any system update by going to Settings> General> Software Update.

Remember that if you already have the iOS 15 / iPadOS 15 public beta profile installed, you need to remove it before installing the iOS 16 / iPadOS 16 profile.

New watch faces on watchOS 9

Apple added four new watch faces in the new watchOS 9 to choose from, each with a style and a precise and well-structured purpose:

• Astronomy
• Lunar Calendar
• Recreation
• Metropolitan

The Gregorian calendar with the lunar dial adopted by many cultures, such as Chinese, Jewish, and Islamic. The exclusive Recreation dial is an original and dynamic work of art created in collaboration with the artist Joi Fulton. In the more classic Metropolitan dial, the style changes every time the Digital Crown is rotated. And the original, totally redesigned Astronomy dial features a new and more accurate map of the stars and updated cloud data.

 Podcast app

The Podcast app allows the user to choose and discover new podcasts, not just in the library or whatever the user is already subscribed to.

Workout App

As for physical activity, in addition to the Activity app on iOS 16, Apple added new ways of tracking sports activities on watchOS 9, starting from running, thanks to new metrics that make training much richer and more aware to help athletes improve their performance and assess the risk of injury.

For triathletes, the Training app is now compatible with a new type of multisport workout, which automatically switches between swimming, cycling, and running sequences, relying on motion sensors to recognize the various patterns.

Thanks to built-in sensors, Apple Watch can now automatically detect tablet workouts in the pool and identify the type of stroke and distance traveled in the final summary. It is also possible to monitor the efficiency of each swim thanks to the SWOLF score, which adds up the time and number of strokes required to complete a lap, and the relative average for each series can be checked in the training summary.

There are also new ways to view data within the Training app. There is also the possibility to create training plans with lots of repetitions, alerts, and breaks customized according to your needs.

Sleep Stages Tracking

With Sleep Stages, Apple’s sleep tracking improves even more and provides users with more information about rest, and the various stages of rest (deep, REM, light sleep, etc.). Thanks to this information, watchOS 9 allows users to learn more about their style of rest and possibly run for cover when there are problems to report to their doctor.
