Android Paid Apps Cost More Than iOS, Study Says

Canalysis research firm revealed in a new study that found Android Apps are more expensive than the iOS Apps. The firm looked a list of both 100 top paid-for apps both Android and iOS platform. The list of these 100 Android Market apps added up all together cost $374.37, averaged out to $3.47 and App while iTunes Store total came up to $1.47 an app with a total of $147.

In most case studies, the data can be taken differently but with Canalysis fewer data was collected from a hundred Apps that was purchased to contribute to this research. The result confim that 22 of these 100 apps on Android cost an average of $0.99 on the iPhone. As noted by Fortune, monopoly app cost from EA cost $4.99 on Android and $0.99 on the iPhone.

The survey reveals that the top paid-for Android apps are priced dramatically higher than those on iOS for the iPhone. In the US, to purchase the top 100 paid-for apps in the Android Market would cost $374.37 – an average of $3.74 per app – more than 2.5 times the cost of the top 100 paid-for iPhone apps. The top 100 iPhone apps would cost $147.00, or $1.47 on average per app.

Regardless of the result, Apple developpers are making big money from the App Store, as Steve cook anounced in the Q1 2012 in which they have eraned 4 billion in total sales

Get iOS 86 Theme on your iPhone, iPod touch™ [How to]

The retro iOS '86 concept created by Russian designer Anton Repponen that was shown last week, it is now available thanks to iTheme who replicated the concept and made it possible to download. In order to have the iOS '86 theme installed, you'll will need to jailbreak you iPhone or iPod touch with Absinthe for iPhone 4S and jailbreak with Redsnow for the rest of the iDevices on iOS 5

Step 1. Open Cydia, and add http://repo.ithemes.it to your list of sources (you’ll notice that Cydia warns you that the repo has been reported for redistributing copyrighted works. Normally these types of repos are not recommended but this was the only place we could find the theme).

Step 2. Search in Cydia for ‘iOS 86′ and install it.

Step 3. After that, you’ll need to activate the theme in Winterboard and re-spring your device.

Step 4. Finally, it’s not mandatory, but we recommend you download and apply this white wallpaper and set it to your homescreen.

Sony Xperia S’s UI, Xperia U revealed in new photos and videos

Two upcoming handsets from Sony have had new photos and videos released this week. The two handsets, known as the Sony Xperia S and Xperia U, will be covered by Sony in some detail at the Mobile World Congress. Let’s have a look at each.

The Xperia S has been formally announced, and will ship in early March according to Mobile Fun and other retailers. The UI hasn’t been seen outside of a few promo shots, but a lucky blurry-cam operator has provided us with authentically blurry videos of the new UI in action. A host of new features have been added, including a 3D carousel activated upon a long press on the home key, along with heavily skinned apps including the dialer, MP3 player and camera.

The Xperia U is one that hasn’t yet been officially announced. It’s the smaller version of the Xperia S, and come with more middle of the range specifications than the flagship Xperia S. The phone has a 3.5” touch screen and will come with a removable battery, unlike the Xperia S. The resolution is expected to be 854 x 480 (WVGA) and the phone will be powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor and half a gigabyte of RAM. The OS is Android Gingerbread (2.3.7) for now, but it’s expected to ship with Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). Finally, the phone includes a 5 megapixel rear camera capable of 1080p video recording.

Both phones look quite good, and should look even better once they’re fully decked out in Ice Cream Sandwich, hopefully with these new UI features intact. Expect much more information next week, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Twitter Update brings New Features on iOS and Android

Twitter has announced the update availability of its official mobile app for iOS and Android, which brings the return of a very popular feature: the swipe shortcut in actions and some other improvements. This feature allows you to meet, tweet, bookmark or share a tweet by simply swiping a finger across the phone to display the buttons triggering different actions.

Coming of Tweetie, Loren Brichter of the application bought by Twitter, this feature eliminates the need to display each tweet to perform these functions separately.

What’s New in Version 4.1

Changes are for iPhone only:

- Press and hold actions on links in tweet details

The application has also been updated on Android, and is being distributed in the App Store worldwide.
