Updated versions of SBTool 2024 rev.

We have just completed an updated version of SBTool that fixes some bugs and also provides bilingual English/French versions of core worksheets and also increases the range of descriptive variables. This is an on-going process and further stages of completed files will be posted in some weeks.

The XLS files have been corrected.

Presentation on Integrated Design Process

On 15 April N. Larsson of iiSBE made a 75 minute virtual presentation to 60+ staff members and consultants acting as project managers, as expertise professionals and design facilitators for projects being constructed by Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI), the dedicated agency of the province of Québec.

RFP released for 2025-26 cycle of SBE events

The RFP for the next round of Regional and World Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) conferences 2025-26 has just been released by the SBE Partners and Permanent Co-hosts, consisting of CIB, the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction, UNEP, the UN Environment Programme, FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers and iiSBE, the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment.

Buildings and Climate Global Forum, 7-8 March in Paris

The Buildings and Climate Global Forum, co-organised by France and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), with the support of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), will take place on 7-8 March 2024 in Paris. The Forum aims to gather for the first time ministers and high-level representatives of key organisations, to initiate a new impetus in international collaboration for building decarbonisation and resilience after the Conference of the Parties (COP) 28.

Teaching position in Toronto

Important new climate paper and related webinar discussion

A team of climate scientists, led by James Hansen (USA) have prepared a paper which is also the subject of a seminar on YouTube. The paper is long and complicated and I can’t pretend to understand the complicated sections, but you can link to it here.

clearly presents some very interesting facts that throw a new light on global temperature increases.

Report on SBE23 Asia-Pacific Shenzhen Conference

Dr. Greg Foliente represented iiSBE and the other SBE partners at the SBE23 Asia-Pacific Shenzhen Conference in the last week of November. The event focused on the aspirations, interest and efforts of key stakeholders in Shenzhen and its broader region to address the sustainability challenge in the built environment. There were more than 2,000 participants and many would-be on-site attendees had to be turned away because the sessions (and rooms) were over-subscribed.
