AOL Mobile Search for the iPhone was designed specifically for the Apple iPhone’s mobile Safari browser. Mobile Search has a traditional Web search engine, but also has features specially tailored to search the content of various AOL properties, including Moviefone, MapQuest, AOL CityGuide and others.

By combining AJAX technology and the iPhone’s easy to use multi-touch surface, AOL has created a user interface that allows the richness of the web to be delivered on a phone, says Steve Murphy, senior vice president of AOL.

The new search portal places a priority on iPhone-optimized websites and returns web searches with these websites at the top of the list.

How to Restore iPod( Windows )

First of all you must understand that restore is completely different from reset. Restore on your iPod will completely erase all files, backups, programs, and anything else you have on it.Restore means you turn your iPod back to the factory settings.

First, you want to make sure that you have the latest version of Apple’s iPod Updater software on your computer.

Now, let’s erase your iPod. This is an important step and if not done correctly can lead to problems later. You should also perform this step if you are selling to someone, it is like erasing your hard drive on your computer to prevent identity theft, etc.

* Connect your iPod via USB
* Go to My Computer (on desktop)
* iPod should be listed as a removable drive.
* Right click on the iPod
* Select “Format”, choose FAT 32 as the format
* Format progress will be indicated. Once it’s done, reboot your computer

Now you’re ready to update your iPod.

* Locate the Updater application on your PC: Start -> Programs -> iPod
* Select the iPod Updater option with the most recent date in its file name
* Make sure the iPod is available on the computer (check My Computer to see if the removable drive is present)
* Click “Restore”. An alert pop-up box will appear asking you to confirm this step, choose yes.
* You will see the progress indicator running, let it finish.
* Close the iPod updater.
* The screen on the iPod will dictate your next step.
o If it shows a progress indicator and an Apple logo, let it run its course
o If you get the AC adapter icon on screen, disconnect the iPod from the computer and use the wall outlet adaptor that came with it. This is how you will have to complete the update.
o If you had to use “Disc Mode”, the screen should show “Ok to Disconnect”. After you disconnect you should reset the iPod.

Let’s Restore your iPod.

Since we have now completed the iPod update, go ahead and connect your iPod to your computer, if it isn’t already. If your iTunes is set to autosync, it will try to sync with it. If the previous steps were completed successfully, and the iPod is empty, the iTunes Setup Assistant should start automatically.

First you’ll be required to rename your iPod, then your iPod will synchronize with iTunes.

Once the synch with iTunes is complete you have a restored iPod. The iPod has been restored to factory settings and your iTunes library is now restored on your iPod as well.

Done !!!

Reason Why PayPal Is Going To Block Safari Users?

I think back in February, PayPal claimed Safari is not safe enough for them, especially due to inadequate phishing protection, and lack of proper support for PayPal’s “overused”(according to some voices) Extended Validation certificates. Now, the story resurfaced, with new details - PayPal is decided to block the use of any browser that’s not secure enough, and Safari is - obviously - one of the first targets, if not the first one.

Last week, PayPal’s Chief Information Security Officer, Michael Barrett, posted a white paper called “A Practical Approach to Managing Phishing,” in which the browser is seen as a key point in stopping phishing. Obviously, the first barrier is the email server - if the emails are properly filtered, they won’t make it to the mailbox, so the user can’t become a victim of phishing, but since phishing and spam are somehow related, I don’t see this happening anytime soon.

In the same document, Barrett said PayPal is working in providing features that will allow the site to warn, and even block, any user that uses an old or insecure browser. IE 7 and the upcoming Firefox 3, for example, support Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer, or shortly EV SSL, an authentification feature that turns the address bar green and identifies the company running the site, while Safari is not yet capable of this, ended up in being placed in the same category of “very old and vulnerable” browsers, together with the 10 year old IE 4!

Well, if you just visited your PayPal account in Safari, as you can see in the image at the beginning of the article, and everything was fine, so I can only hope that Apple will manage to keep up with the latest security technologies and avoid its users being blocked by PayPal. After all, it would be a pity to see this happening, while the market share of this browser is slowly, but surely, going up.
