Yeah bro, dat’s my favorite phrase in Lil’ Nik Felanie’s lyric in his song called ‘Suka Ngan Kamek(Yajak Kerja Nya)’. I know this rapper since 8 months ago. Inviting him with the other crew of Underground Rapstar Sarawak for HELLO! KCH Art Event 08′ was a blast. Thank god they rapped the best performances on that day. Orite, forget about that. Let’s talk about Lil’ Nik Felanie.

Lil’ Nik is a creative rapper who mix Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Sarawak and English Language in his song. Most of his song, which is mixtape(which mean using other musician’s beat but with their own lyric) had been favorite by a lot of music listener in Sarawak. This Foo Chow rapper, had attracted the myspace users to hit his myspace account up to 16 397 hits, with only 385 friend list. Yeah, some of you might say, it’s nothing. But, let me compare him with some of the ’superstar wannabe’ in our local scene. Some of them, had setup their myspace account for more than 3 years, but the total hit is only up to 3000-5000 hits. But Nik Felanie just played around with myspace account only for a year and the total song being played daily in his myspace account is up to 50-90 times.

Consider Nik Felanie who rap in Bahasa Sarawak, how many people in this world who understand Sarawakian language? That is why, I would call Nik as The Sarawak Myspace Rapper. I bet, his fan base will grow bigger in this few years and I hope more and more Sarawak people will listen to Sarawak Rap. Keep it up Lil’ Nik, We’ll support you from behind. Like what he said in one of his song; “I’m still rapping in other language not care about the critics, but I’m still doing my thing”

Recording under Underground Rapstar Sarawak independent label, Lil’ Nik is looking forward with his music carrier. Listen to his song, support the minority guys. I suggest you to listen to his song called ‘Madah Ajak’, ‘Aku Miak Foo Chow’ and ‘Suka Ngan Kmk(Yajak Kerja Nya). Enjoy! Wa pu che tau in Foo Chow!

It was Sunday evening. Got a call from Zulkamal asking me out for a photo shoot with “Photohunter”. Nang best kayo2 pasar ngn cdak tok mbak Camera,layan abis. The crew who was with me that day are Salam Shah, Apit, Wandi(Sifu), Zulkamal(of course), Azah, Shichi, Dieno, Husny,Syazwan, Chu and the geng. Joining photohunter that evening was really great. Wandi shares a lot of technical advice with me that evening. There’s a lot of great tips that he told me (rahsia,hehe).For me, camera is a very unique piece of machine, it can be a medium for people to ice-breaking and makes a lot of friends with the same interest.

Wandi choose Medan Pelita as our location for the photo shoot. I never realise it was a great place until I reach there and after my lenses captured a few great images too. So, here are some images that I’ve captured that evening.enjoy.

Customer is always a king(Guess so, haha), so I go and check their Myspace account. A band called Shamanic Rites. Tok mesti band gaok tok, pikir ku. So, just wait till the mp3 auto play. Listen to the sound of the heavy guitar riffs and the bullet sound of the double bass drum paddle…the melodic darkness voice. Damn it! Just give me a chance to listen to that darkness song called ‘Infiltrate Mutilate Cartage Instigate’ till it finish, Uiii….lagu rugged oi! Hey, it’s marketing man. Mun engkah full, sapa mok beli cd nak? So, this band is so damn good. Go check out your self. It’s only RM20 dude.

Who’s the guy behind Shamanic Rites? For vocal and bass, it goes to Amen’ AMo Lucifer, Abzhan on the possesion of guitar and Ahrieymanz on drum. Cool one. Go-go check them out. So, here’s a review for HELLO! KCH Acoustic Night. The list of bands performing for that night was Rubber Duckies, Underground Rapstar Sarawak, Morgan Then, Love Comes, Polar, Ijal, Sharon Lugun and Single Track Mind. That night was a blast! Ileq-Ileq had to add in more chairs and tables and you can see more than 20 people still standing to watch the performers entertain the crowds. Too bad, but never mind, as long as you guys enjoy yourself on that night.

Ahh…I don’t have the time to order a drink on that night. Since Im the MC and also the one who need to entertain the attendees and performers, it have been a day pack of chit-chating. Haha. So, the event started with the performances by Underground Rapstar Sarawak. UR’s performed few songs that I never heard of and they invited Ila to perform with them. Ila’s voice seems to be so nice when it comes to acoustic. Never heard she rapped before. You rap Ila? Kudos to UR’s. You guys had improved a lot this couple of years.

“Who’s that girl?” “Sapa pompuan ya?” “Kimsalam ngannya kee.”

Haha, you know who’s the attraction for that night. Every time she perform, people (mostly guys, ngehee) will “Woh…pretty one.” Yeah, she’s pretty. But you will never believe what you hear when she starts to sing and strum the guitar. Oh Sharon, hehe. Nice one. She’s busy on that week since she had to perform on the next day after HELLO! KCH Acoustic Night.

Here you go. A hot cup of Lipton. Guess who? It’s Rubber Duckies. They had been performed at few places in Melaka, KL and Kuching. This independent rock n roll band is also the performer for Cats.fm and had been reviewed in Cats Exposed. I assumed Rubber Duckies can go far in the industries if they keep on expanding their names. I love A hot cup of Lipton. Keep it up Rubber Duckies!

It’s amazing to know that the attendees had waited from 8 p.m just to watch the show. I would like to thank you guys for having that patient towards your support for the local bands. Yalah, mun sikda ktk orang, local bands pun sikpat hidup cus they need your support to survive in the local music industries. Sikkanlah, dengar lagu clubbing dapat, dengar lagu local bands sikpat. Nak?

So the show continues with the performances from Love Comes! Amazing. Ya aku dapat madah dgn ktk orang. This band is a talk about band in Kuching. Although I never see they perform, I can tell that Love Comes is good. You can tell that too by listening to their song called Postman. What so special on that night was, Danny the drummer of Love Comes had bring a long the effects which create the sound of a drum. So cool. I’ll include the video of Love Comes performances in this article. You can tell how good is this band by watching this video.

Special performances for that night was from Single Track Mind. With the cover from Peterpan which is sang in English, I can tell that those people who never see STM perform for sure will putting their thumbs up. Nice one from Alex STM. Thanks for joining ilovekuching in the list of performer for HELLO! KCH Acoustic Night. The coolest band for that night; POLAR. Yeah, it’s Polar in the house! With effects by Ahim and great voice from their vocalist, Polar should be among the best in Kuching local music scene. Aku suka effect ktk orang! Haha. Then right after Polar’s performances, Rainforest performer…

What? Rainforest performer? Yeah, it’s Morgan Then. With 88 keyboard, he wowed the audience. Nang gila lah nya tok main keyboard! He is amazing. You can check him out at his youtube account. Watch him in action. Haha. On that night, Ezra is invited to performed with him. Ezra, you have a nice voice, two thumbs up! And finally, the performances from Ijal had also wowed the crowd with his ‘flute’(lupak gik ku apa nama benda ya, keke). Nang dilayan nya abis. He’s good. Damn good.

So, the show end at 1 a.m. But thank god, everyone maseh di sia mok nangga show ya abis cus it’s too cool right to have the good performers gathers in one place. So, I would like to thank Nazieb, Abg Ehsan and Kak Faridah for preparing the venue. And big thanks to Bang Ehsan cus he’s the one who’s very buzy with the sound on that night. Without Bang Ehsan, event malam ya sure kamboh and kecoh. And finally, I would like to thank the readers and the people who attend the event. You guys rock!
