This is my sweet 'Great Aunt Martina. I knew Aunt Martina was a well-known Oregon artist, but I didn't know how many people loved her artwork. She was always such an encouragement to me. I love looking at her work--she is an inspiration.

It was/is the single most successful, positive, hopeful day in the neighborhood. It is a proactive gesture that welcomes a creative outlook toward Lents' relationship to the city and says "yes" to a prosperous, vibrant, inventive, INCLUSIVE future. It was a great stride in repairing the damage done by the bile and poison that has run through the veins of this community for so long. Of course...that's my own, completely unnecessarily hyperbolic opinion. But you did ask how. :) Peace. <3

Riding a bike?!!

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I was intending to comment on the Holgate bikelane issue and the comments seem to be closed! In any case, I don't drive down Holgate very often, but did tonight at about 7 PM or so. During my trip from 122nd to 92nd I passed 5 bicycles. Maybe this is good, maybe it isn't- from my experiences though I find it difficult to believe the "news" that the bike lanes are going unused.

It was a great happening all around. Now what would life be like if we had that many people in the neighborhood all the time?

Well, the Ramona Street Fair was a HUGE success despite the changes to the Sunday Parkways route! We had a good number of people on bicycles show up as well as people on foot and some arriving in cars as well. Thanks to great organizing (and a great clean-up crew the day before!) the event was about as good as we could possibly have hoped for. I'd say that most of the vendors that were here for the event would probably come back for RSF3 next year.

If anyone has a good pic or two of the event would you be so kind as to email them to me? I took several off of the upper bike path, but I found myself really wishing this morning that I'd actually taken some of the action at street level. A few pictures such as one of John Eads shoving pizzas into that fiery igloo thing would have been nice!!

In any case, send me good pictures if you have any that you wouldn't mind becoming public!

Thanks,

Jeff
