Is Vignelli pleased with new AA logo?

In a Q&A with Business Week, design legend Massimo Vignelli takes umbrage that his American Airlines logo (top logo above) has been tossed out after a 45-year run.

He may be well into his 80′s but he’s not pulling any punches, saying that logo revision “has no sense of permanence”.
