Last October we invited Synth Eastwood to get involved at OFFSET. They devised a project called “Lost In Translation” that aimed to test the way people retain and communicate visual information. They spent 3 days filming speakers and delegates in a specially designed isolation booth created by ABGC Architects. Alongside a wealth of Irish creatives like Scott Burnett, Rich Gilligan and Celestine Cooney they were also lucky enough to grab speakers such as Daniel Eatock, Scott Dadich and David Carson. The results are in and they came back positive.

The above video is one of eleven. Please have a look and see if you can spot a friend, a tutor or a colleague. The whole project is live now right here.

If you’ve been wondering why we’ve been so quiet of late, it’s because we have been feverishly working behind the scenes since OFFSET2010 ended. And so today we can make our first announcement in this regard.

OFFSET, Dublin’s creative festival returns to the spectacular Grand Canal Theatre next March 9/10/11 2012. With 24 leading creative lights on the main stage, a second room for debates and discussion, interviews and lots more surprises planned, we intend this edition to be our biggest and brightest yet.

This of course means there will be no OFFSET festival in 2011. We understand there will be a lot of disappointment with this news but we can assure you that our reasons are legitimate and are borne out of a genuine need to make OFFSET stronger and for your experience to be even better. There are a myriad of reasons for this decision all of which we gave serious consideration to, including the action packed Autumn arts calendar in Dublin and also availability of major international speakers around this time. Rather than compromise on the quality of the people we’re bringing over and our event, we want to build on our 2 previous editions so have decided to move OFFSET from here on out to Springtime each year.

Our full site and early bird tickets will be online in the coming months and we’re working on making them as great value as previous editions. We’re also introducing a staged payment plan which should make them easier on your pocket.

Our goal has always been to create a festival that will be a celebration of global creativity and will bring together the best in International and Irish creative talent in graphic design, illustration, street and fine art, film, fashion, photography, moving image and much, much more. Over the last 2 years OFFSET has featured the strongest line-up of international creatives ever assembled in Ireland including…

Sir Peter Blake, David Carson, Massimo Vignelli, Dave McKean, Experimental Jetset, Studio AKA, Chip Kidd, David Shrigley, George Lois, James Jean, David O’Reilly, House Industries, Pentagram, Graphic Thought Facility, Tara McPherson, Anthony Burrill, Zach Gold, and many more.

Over half of the line-up for OFFSET2012 is already confirmed and is looking amazing and is sure to be inspiring, we can’t wait to share it with you in the coming months.

- GET INVOLVED

As with previous editions, the periphery events kick off a week beforehand, Friday 2nd March, so we’re inviting anyone who wants to get involved to submit their ideas for events to info@iloveoffset.com and we’ll do our best to work with you to make it happen. We will help promote them through our network and also help you find a home for your idea/event if you don’t have one.

Join us on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates and also our Mailing List in the menu above.

Thanks for listening and we will have more info soon.

Well after a few weeks rest and while we are editing the videos from OFFSET2010 we thought we would get around to some ‘housekeeping’. We still have some videos outstanding from OFFSET2009 in the vault including the following incredible presentation from Massimo Vignelli.

WOW.

After over 10 months of planning and preparation the week that was OFFSET2010 is now behind us and we couldn’t be happier. Apart from a couple of small issues everything went just as we hoped, if not a smidgen better. Thanks SO much to everyone who helped make such a memorable event and one we hope to continue for many years to come.

We couldn’t have done it without the constant support of our patient partners, our event partners, our supporters, sponsors and, of course, the event attendees and weekend delegates who came down to make it a truly memorable event. The warmth and enthusiasm at every turn was simply unbelievable.

We were blessed also with an eclectic yet social bunch of speakers who never shied away from sharing their insights to anyone willing to listen. 2 years in and we feel we produced something very special, something with lots of room for improvement and enhancement.

We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we thought you did. Feel free to send your feedback to info@iloveoffset.com, good and bad (we can take it), and here’s hoping we see you all (and the people you hopefully recommend us to) next year.

Keep well.

WEEKEND PASSES:
Group discount of 5 for 4 is still available, meaning tickets are still cheaper than our early bird price at 144euro a go.

All people with weekend tickets will be given special wristbands which guarantee access all weekend and get you free into the OFFSET party Saturday night in the Twisted Pepper, capacity allowing.
All student tickets must be accompanied by a valid, current ID. These wristbands are non-transferable, any evidence of tampering or sharing bands could result in delegates not being admitted to the venue.

DAY TICKETS:
A very limited amount of 1 day tickets will be available at the Grand Canal Theatre each day priced 70 euro & 50 student/unwaged. To buy these just turn up to the venue at any time over the weekend, the earlier the better.
Day ticket holders do not get wristbands or free entry into the OFFSET party but are free to enjoy everything else.

The main stage opens each day to delegates 20 minutes before the first speaker (9.40am) with the second room programming kicking off at 11am each morning.

Please note that while everything has been signed off and we are confident of the weekend running smoothly and to plan, things may change so listen out to all announcements made on both stages throughout the day and you’ll be fully updated.
We would encourage all delegates to come down as early as possible to support the speakers presenting.
If you would like to plan the talks you would like to attend across the 2 rooms you can download a abridged version of the brochure HERE.
