Marketing: Why it is Important

Why is marketing important? Simple. That is how you get customers. Without customers, there is no business to do, and no reason to be in business. Marketing is the second reason business tend to fail, (the number one reason being poor accounting). If you have pink diamonds on wholesale, and no one knows it...you have pink diamonds.

So, why is this important? People aren't going to come to into your business and ask for whatever it is you sell, unless they know that you are there and what you are selling. Sure, you will get the occasional peruse, but how do you let the people you are targeting (the people your service/good is made for) know you are there and what your company has to offer? These results are obtained through marketing, i.e. exposure of your company and what it offers.

A big part of marketing is making sure you are presenting the image you want. This image represents your brand which differentiates you from your competitors. Large corporations invest huge resources in building their brand, to compete, you must do the same. When you are brand building, you have to consider what it is you offer that should make people come to you. Brand building is the first step and major key to marketing your business. Everything hinges off of your logo, including perception of your company brand.

Consider your business, do you have a custom logo? What image does it portray? Is this the image you want for your business? Your logo should represent 3 key words that you would like associated with your business. Established, Luxurious, Bargain, Innovative, etc. Consider how effective your logo is every 5 years. Your company may need something newer and more pertinent to their image as time passes.
