One could say that nothing is more awesome than seeing old school pictures that bring back memories of the past.

Now mix that with a retro View-Master style viewer and what do you get- Pure goodness!

It gets even better…now add a food franchise that has been serving it’s comforting root beer floats since 1921 and you really have a case of the coolest way to represent a fun and retro company with the coolest retro product out there.

A couple months ago we had the pleasure of creating a custom reel for A&W. It includes old pictures of the restaurants, old fashioned “drive throughs”, classic cars, and of course the root beer floats!

The reel is so fun and brings back some really enjoyable memories. Be sure to click on the reel to open it larger so you can see the fun up-close!

Gotta love those cartridges and the serious enthusiasm this kid has for SEGA.

With that came a lot of praises from our customers as well as insights as to how the gift was received. This was awesome! It was great seeing how excited people got when opening the box to find a custom View-Master.

The best reaction was highlighted by photographer and blogger Beckie of Becka Jayne Photography. We get the before, during, and after effects of her sister opening her gift with family photos on the reel. Very cool and fun to see! See for yourself- My favorite Christmas gift this year was actually one that I gave away.

A great way to cherish those engagement pictures is to make a custom reel and viewer!

You can use your engagement photo reel as a keepsake, gift to parents or loved ones, or even as wedding favors to have sitting around at your wedding for guests to look at (or even take home).

Mix coolness with a little retro and add a nostalgic viewer and you have a party that I would definitely want to attend!

But, you can definitely get a little more creative!

On a weekly basis we get custom proposal reels made. It usually contains pictures of the couple with the last frame stating, “will you marry me?”

Some have really cute poems being recited throughout the frames with the last frame saying, “I would love to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Some even give a little taste as to what is to come with a photo of the ring, adding to the anticipation of what the reel is all about.

Or sometimes there is just a surprise at the end that says, “Now look up!” and the guy is sitting there with the ring and a big smile on his face.

Well David G. did just this as he made a proposal reel for his girlfriend Liore.

The Stereogranimator

The introduction to the stereogranimator website reads, “Do you remember the magic of looking into a ViewMaster as a child & being suddenly somewhere else? You can think of NYPL’s stereograph archive as a gold mine of some 40,000 ViewMaster slides, nearly all more than 100 years old.”

Joshua Heineman has literally gone through the archives at the New York Public Library finding old stereograph images.

Now he shares some of the collection with you. The images are in anaglyph as well as an animated gif. And you can even pay around with the images yourself and create your own masterpieces!

We highly suggest reading the “About” section as it gives you a really good sense of how this website was created and the thoughts behind it (espcially explaining the animated gif’s!).

Now go have fun and start reliving history through 3D eyes!
