Android Logo Indian Version (Fictional)

This is a fictional logo created to point towards a serious matter of interest in our nation. I have been reading about robotic behavior of one of most respectful/ considered to be the best in his field of specialization person in our country. (I don't want to share the name because he is one of the best among the others but I don't understand why he is acting like this.) I know most of you are aware of whom/what I am talking about.

I have created this not to hurt anybody's sentiments but to make people realize what is happening.
Seriously I apologize to create something like this but on the other hand I want this message to reach the right person so that he can change himself and fightback against all who are saying all sorts wrong things about him.

Meta-Patterns

I know my love for learning more and more about design will never end and today I have learned some thing new and here it is, first meta pattern created by me. I hope it looks good.

I started making on the paper but completed the digital design first, the credit goes to Course on Visual Syntactics - Meta-patterns Understanding Visual Language by Ravi Poovaiah present here.

My hand drawn meta pattern using the same initial mother pattern that I have used in digital design above:

And here are my notes, how I started?

1- First I studied about meta-patterns from the article on D'source.
2- I started to draw an initial mother pattern.
3- I started to draw it on my drawing file.
4- Side by side I also started making it on photoshop.
5- For accuracy I created my custom brush with 40 degree interval to compensate nine leaves made of the pattern.

World's first QR code portraits

Introduction

QR code designs are gaining popularity these days. I have also made some portraits based on QR codes claiming them to be the first in the world because other designed QR codes have small images just pasted in them but in my designs I have used the native square boxes to create an image which is different from all designs present on the internet these days.

Description

As technology is growing day by day we are getting something new each day and as the example of new exploding technology that is QR codes which are widely used these days. A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a specific matrix bar code (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR readers, smart phones, and to a less common extent, computers with webcams. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.

Getting inspired from the QR codes I have started my “QR code project” in which I am designing QR Code pattern images of influential personalities from around the world. Now I want to share a little About the background story of this project – Few days back while using one of the social networking website I came across a stream which was about “QR Codes being used in headstones of graveyard”, I found that post interesting: How the people are adopting technology for some really different applications. That time simultaneously I was studying about history of art and design so an idea struck into my mind to blend this new technology to create some new designs and this is how QR Code project started. The first piece with which I started this project was ‘Mona Lisa’.

As I completed some designs my friends asked me about the functionality of these codes but the answer was No because that time I just tried to make them simple QR code inspired designs. These questions forced me work on the functionality of these designs so studied lot of stuff about their working from there I came to know about various details which helped in coding these fully funtional codes.

Note: These QR codes tested using various QR code readers and proved to be fully functional but they are much more sensitive than the normal ones so you need take proper care while decoding them using your readers( proper focus, lighting etc.)

Modernism of Relations

This creation is a blend of traditional charcoal pencil sketch and digital graphic design, one of my latest style of design.

The main contrast between past and present is shown by the use of traditional charcoal pencil and modern graphic design. ‘Relations’ (my artwork) is all about my experience and learning from life. It is a pure reflection of whatever I have faced in my life. The idea came when I compared the present with the past, how things used to be in past and what they are now? Everything has changed - nothing is pure – nothing is permanent!

The symbolic aspect which is easy to understand is the contrast of relations in past – which were pure and the present condition – where relations are bonded pieces of coloured fragile glass which can shatter at any moment with a light blow of wind. Purity of relations is very rare to find in this modern era.

If we discuss about the scientific aspect – then modernism is all about bifurcation of everything present in this world. Everything is considered as destructible; we have reached to the concepts of strings (string theory) from the concept of atom which was once termed as the smallest unit of any existing matter.

Volkswagen logo - geometrical study (Recreation)

Recently I went through an article on Graham Smith's journal on his website and found out the Recreated-Vintage VW Logo Specification Sheet For Download. From there i downloaded the spec sheet and tried to recreate the logo using traditional geometrical tools and here is what i have created.

The most important thing I have realized recreating this logo is that designing is much easier now with the development of tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop etc. It took 3 hours to reproduce the logo close to perfection (I am not claiming that it is 100% accurate) including 2 rough drafts with one or two mistakes. Working on small projects like this are helpful for learning and dicovering various hidden aspects of designing, you just get a chance to refine your skills, thinking process and lot more things. If you don't believe me then try it once and I am sure after that you are really going to agree with me.

My Google+ Illustration Project

Yesterday I joined Google+ and found it so intersting and useful that I spent my whole night discovering, reading and working on Google+. I was late in joining Google+ so before yesterday everytime I tried to join in I got a "limited field trial message from google but thanks to Designmodo.com (Adrian) for sending me an invite to join Google+.

Since morning I am working on illustrations for Google+ which includes features, tips and tricks, usage and a lot more funny and informative stuff.
I have completed the rough drafts of all but I could complete some final copies yet.Take a look at them! Soon i'll be completing the whole post so keep visiting!

Google+ Hangouts:

Hangouts are used for voice and video chat, it's limited to 10 participants and doesn't work on mobile devices yet. Another interesting thing is that "hangouts are created by one person, but everyone in the hangout shares the ability to invite others. Each hangout has a specific URL. That URL can be shared as a link to invite others." You can also use Hangout to watch a YouTube video with your friends.

Great feature isn't it?

Google+ Circles:

Circles allows you to customize and categorize your friends list. In the real world we don’t share everything with all our friends in the same way.Example: you don't wanna let your Boss (who is in your friend list) know that you were hanging out with friends instead of completing your assigned project!

Hence, with Circles you can simply create a circle with a particular designation and drag and drop your connections into them. It essentially works like groups, so that you can share different things with different groups. Hope you can easily understand this now!

Easy drag and drop feature allows you to drop links to your share stream so that you can easily share links without typing or copying or pasting it.

Play with text you post in your streams:

Another great feature of G+ is that you can edit the text the way you want in your posts, currently it includes bold, italic, ~~strikethough~~.

To write in bold, write the word in asterisks: *your text*. If you want to write in italic, put it in underscores: _your text_. For ~~strikethrough~~, use a hyphen: -your text-.

So now play with your text in your posts.

Controlled sharing of updates:

You can lock your updates from further sharing by the people with whom you have shared a particular update, you just have 'disable reshare'.

To do this click on small arrow on the right of a post you shared, it will open list with the options: Diable Reshare, Edit, Delete, etc. a lot of features to modify your posted streams.
