Hello, I found this article while searching for help with JavaScript. I've recently changed browsers from Opera to Mozilla Firefox 3.1. Now I seem to have a issue with loading JavaScript. Every time I go on a website that requires Javascript, my computer does not load and I get a "runtime error javascript.JSException: Unknown name". I cannot seem to find out how to fix the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi Clayton! Yeah - that was motivation :)

By the way, this could also be achieved with SpiderMonkey's js command line tool.

I love textmate and I love making it easy to stay in textmate when I would normally have to go out to the shell or browser. Now if I used V8 this would be even better. :)

The perfect quote for this post comes from SHODAN itself: "Look at you, hacker. A pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"

Well, a branch starts as a clone of the "main" branch, but is developed separately. It can be merged back into the "main" branch when the development has finished. A submodule is a separate repository which is added as kind of "plugin" to the main repository. A submodule itself can have different branches, too.

Let's see if I got that right... Basically a submodule branch is a clone of the "main" branch that merges back only the edited files needed to implement the current submodule. That would mean that during parallel development there are several different branches running besides the main branch and the main branch is simply the merged summary of all previous submodule branches? Or is it just like a "Folder with seperate Versioning" with all relevant files of a Submodule that will snap in after pointing relevant files of the main branch towards it, once it is deployable?

ActiveRecord will take care of sanitation as long as you use queries with parameterized conditions or the hash form.
Do do this, your first example could be written like this:
User.find(:first, :conditions => ["login = ? AND password = ?", params[:user_name], params[:password])

or with a hash like this:
User.find(:first, :conditions => {:login => params[:user_name], :password => params[:password]})

Isn't it enough to use either an array like ['author = ?', params[:author]] or a hash like { :author => params[:author] } as condition to get a sanitized sql statement? I'm pretty sure you don't have to explicitly sanitize it.

Hi,
Many articles on your blog have a hyperlink "leave a response" that doesn't do a lot. So that is not working.

I wanted to comment on the background plugin but that article has the not working "leave a response" link.

The plugin looked simple enough for me to use but now that I'm using it I'm sure it doesn't divorce work from the request/response cycle in my Rails application.

Stuff is still synchronized somehow, I can't figure out why, I think there something particural to async processing that I'm missing.
