Double Vision and Phrases & Frames

There are many cards using this technique on Pinterest and thought I’d join the party to try my hand at the technique. I like the sprinkling of silver in the Splash of Sparkles 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer paper for the double vision layout and paired it up with Bubble Bath and Balmy Blue card stock. I used the new Phrases & Frames stamp bundle in the just released May-August Catalogue for the focal sentiment.

The “top note” frame is used to create a unique embossed look by using the new Impressions plate (although it’s called a plate, it is a silicone mat (page 74 in catalogue).

I used a piece of Silver Foil with the frame and after running it through the Cut ‘N Emboss machine, I poked out the centre piece of foil (save this piece for another project) and left the frame in the die. To create the embossed look of the frame, I used the following sandwich:

Plate 1 (base)
Plate 2
Place die with the silver foil in it, face up on Plate 2
Impressions Plate – new
Plate 4 – the plate used when embossing 3D embossing folders

then run it through the embossing machine. It gives the die a unique embossed appearance.

I cut another of the frames using Basic White and stamped the sentiment on the centre piece of the die cut (keep the frame for another project). The sentiment is from the Phrases & Frames stamp set in Balmy Blue. The embellishments are from the retired Red & Green Adhesive backed pearls.

Easy Easter Card Design with Everyday Arches

Here’s an easy Easter card made with the Everyday Arches dies, Easter Basket stamp bundle and Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used one of the background images from the DSP to add the various stamped images.

I trimmed the background panel from the DSP to 3 3/4″ to 5″ and adhered it to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White panel. These layers are adhered to a 4 1/4″ x 11″ Lemon Lolly card base in a landscape orientation.

I stamped the bunnies and Easter eggs on Basic White card stock and the carrot on Timid Tiger card stock. The images are coloured with assorted Stampin’ Blends. I prepared the rainbow with Lemon Lolly, Highland Heather, Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie card stock and die cut them using the 4 largest Everyday Arches dies and laid out the images on the card front.

On the inside of the card, I stamped the cluster of flowers with Memento Black ink and coloured with Pretty in Pink, Highland Heather and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment is stamped with Highland Heather classic ink.

Cutting Instructions:

Lemon Lolly
- Card Base: 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White
- Cut 2 at 4″ x 5 1/4″, one for front mat and the other for the inside
- Scraps for bunnies and Easter eggs
Timid Tiger
- Scrap for carrot
Rainbow:
- Die cut 4 Everyday Arches using Lemon Lolly, Highland Heather, Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie
- Remove the body of the arches to use on other projects, cut down the arches and assemble. Add adhesive on back and adhered to front panel
DSP Panel
- Cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″

Easter Basket Easel Card

It was fun making today’s Easter Basket Easel Card. An adorable set not only for Easter but some spring time cards as well.

The Designer Series Paper that is part of the Easter Basket bundle is Easter Joy and comes in a heavier weight which is perfect for making the basket.

The card base is Shy Shamrock. I embossed a Basic White panel with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder. The images were stamped with Memento Black ink, coloured in with Stampin’ Blends and die cut with the co-ordinating dies. There is also a die for the basket and strips to create the weave.

The third largest Everyday Arches die was used to cut the background for the focal image using the striped pattern from the DSP.

The strips of Lemon Lolly and Pretty in Pink were woven into the basket and topped with a scalloped Lemon Lolly piece. After assembling the bunny and eggs in the basket, the Pretty in Pink bow was added to the basket. The sentiment was stamped with Summer Splash classic ink and die cut with a label die from the Unbounded Love dies. The sentiment was stamped in two stages so that it could be separated.

On the inside of the card, the sentiment piece is propped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals so that the front can be propped up to create the easel. Two pink eggs from the Easter Assortment embellishments with added around the sentiment.

Cutting Instructions

Shy Shamrock:
- Card Base – 4 1/4″ x 11, score at 2 3/4″ and 4 1/2
- Front Panel – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
- Strip: 4 1/8″ x 5/8″
Basic White:
- Panels: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ – cut two, one for the embossing and the other for inside

Brushed with Beauty Fun Fold Card

I made today’s fun fold card using the Brushed With Beauty Designer Series Paper from the Brushed with Beauty Suite of products.

The following photos shows the layout of the larger square on the inside of the card.

Cutting instructions:

Calypso Coral
- Card Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″
- Squares: 2″ x 2″ (cut 2), 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″
- Mechanism: 3″ x 2 1/2″, score at 3/4″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/4″
- Sentiment: scrap
Very Vanilla
- Panels: 2″ x 5 3/8″ (cut 2)
- Inside: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
- Squares: 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ (cut 2), 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″
DSP
- Petal Pink Pattern Panels: 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ (cut 2),
- Petal Pink Pattern for inside: 4″ x 5 14″
- Floral Pattern Squares: 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ (cut 2), 2″ x 2″

Adhere the Petal Pink DSP panels to the Very Vanilla panels. Then adhere them to the card base. Prepare the squares with the Calypso Coral card stock, Very Vanilla card stock and floral pattern DSP.

Apply adhesive to the left side of one of the 2″ squares and line up one corner to the 2 1/8″ fold and adhere. Add the second 2″ square to the bottom of the fold.

Fold and crease the Calypso Coral mechanism. Fold in the two sides of the mechanism and apply adhesive to the two sides that meet in the centre. Open up the card and adhere on the 4 1/4″ fold line of the card. Press down and ensure that it is fully adhered to the card. Take the larger square and dry fit it to the mechanism with the left point of the square just touching the right side of the card. Apply just a bit of adhesive to the tip of the square that will attach to the mechanism and press down to secure.

I used a sentiment from the Banner Sayings stamp set and stamped it on the scrap of Calypso Coral with Calypso Coral classic ink, Next, die cut it with the small label die from the Words of Beauty dies. Add some Mini Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and position it between the two squares on the front panel. Complete the card with a few of the Pearls of Beauty embellishments.

Lovely & Beautiful Flap Card

We made this Lovely & Beautiful Flap Card at a recent class using the Specialty Designer Series paper. I chose the sheet with the flowers and leaves in Petal Pink, Fresh Freesia, Calypso Coral and Old Olive with gold outlines on the Petal Pink Flowers.

For the focal image I used the Beautifully Celebrated dies. The sentiment is from the Fabulous Sayings stamp set, the January Product of the Month which was stamped with Calypso Coral classic ink. I added some Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls and made a bow using the retired Flirty Flamingo twine from the Baker’s Twine Three Color Pack.

Lovely Arrangements Arch Card

I have this beautiful card to share with you today using the Lovely Arrangements group of products currently available in the Online Exclusives section in my online store.

I started with a Petal Pink card base, cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Next I cut a panel of Basic White card stock at 4″ x 5 1/4″. I placed the die with the small petals on the top right section of the panel to run the die through the Cut & Emboss machine. I then moved the die to the bottom left hand side of the Basic White panel and ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine. It leaves a pretty pattern on the Basic White card stock with the Petal Pink colour peeking through the small petals after adhering it to the Petal Pink card base.

On one of the sheets of the Lovely Blossoms DSP package, there are several image blocks of floral patterns I cut out the section with the small white flowers on the Petal Pink background and then used the 4th largest die from the Everyday Arches dies to trim it down. I then die cut the next largest arch on a piece of Old Olive card stock and adhered them together. I applied some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of this focal image and adhered it to the card base over the Basic White die cut panel.

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap Basic White using Old Olive classic ink and then die cut it using one of the corresponding die cut. I added it towards the bottom of the focal image. I completed the card with a few of the Old Olive Mood Palette Glossy Dots.

An Endless Love Offset Gatefold

Another Valentine’s card using the Endless Love stamp set in an offset gatefold layout.

Calypso Coral is the card base colour with panels of Basic White and Made with Love Designer Series Paper. I stamped the two hearts with Calypso Coral classic ink on scraps of Basic White card stock and die cut it with the small heart from the co-ordinating Endless Love dies. I die cut one of the circles from the Spotlight on Nature dies and adhered the hearts on it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut panels of Basic White and used two patterns from the Made with Love DSP and adhered them to the two sections of the card front. Multipurpose Liquid Glue is applied to the back of the die cut circle on the right side and adhered to the narrow fold.

The sentiment is from the Celebrate Love Mix & Match Ephemera pack from last year. It has many great sentiments, hearts and floral designs which made it easy to complete the card. The sentiment is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some 2025-2027 In Colour Flat Pearls to complete the card.

On the inside of the card is a panel of Basic White and a strip of the diagonal strip DSP on the side.

Endless Love

I used the Fractured card layout for this Valentine’s card using the Endless Love stamp bundle.

I used this sheet from the co-ordinating Made with Love Designer Series Paper for the background as it has so many different coloured hearts.

I started with a card base of Real Red, what else for Valentines? I next added the DSP panel cut 4″ x 5 1/4″ to the card base, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.

Next, I cut 1/4″ stripes of Real Red card stock. Cut 3 strips about 4″ long and the 4th strip about 4 3/4″ long. For the centre of the “fractured portion” I used the second largest Stylish Shapes square die to cut a piece of 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ Basic White. The die is the second largest of the square dies.

I adhered the Basic White square die in the centre of the DSP panel and slightly above mid centre. Next, apply adhesive to one of the 4″ Real Red strips and apply it flush against the left side of the square. Then adhere the remaining three strips move left to right. Trim off the overhand from the DSP. Adhere the DSP panel to the card base.

For the focal square section, I die cut the heart shape using Strawberry Slush card stock. There is a die that cuts 5 hearts all at once. I cut those using Real Red card stock and adhered them randomly on the focal panel.

The sentiment is from the set and is stamped with Real Red ink on a scrap 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ Basic White card stock. The strip is then punched out using the Three Banner punch. It is then popped onto the bottom of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside of the card I added a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White panel and stamped the double heart image using Real Red classic ink. I die cut the XO’s using the dies from the bundle.

Terrific Toadstools Pleat Card

I used the Toadstool Gardens Designer Series Paper along with the Terrific Toadstools stamp set to make this pleat card.

I thought I’d try this layout that’s been “poppin’ up” online and thought it appropriate to use this stamp set.

I started with a Melon Mambo card base of 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″. I cut a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. I used one of the 6″ x 6″ DSP sheets and trimmed off 3/4″ at the bottom, leaving a piece 6″ x 5 1/4″. On the 6″ side of the DSP cut at 2 1/2″, and 4 1/4″ which will give you one piece at 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and two pieces at 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.

Next I adhered the Granny Apple Green panel to the card base. Add adhesive to the 2 1/2″ piece of DSP and adhere to the centre of the card base. I used Tombow glue to add a thin strip of glue to the left hand side of one of the 1 3/4″ strips of DSP and adhered it to the card base leaving a small margin. On the other piece of 1 3/4″ strip of DSP adhere a fine line of glue on the right hand side of the DSP and adhere it to the right side of the card front leaving a small margin.

On the left DSP panel, fold it back towards the left hand side of the card on an angle to create the pleat. Take the fold to approximately half way down. Repeat this on the bottom portion of the DSP.

Repeat these folds on the DSP on the right hand side. Use the bone folder to press down the pleats for a crisp fold. Add glue dots on the back of the pleats to secure it to the card.

I used Granny Apple Green card stock to die cut the second smallest from the Stitched Rectangle dies. For the sentiment piece, die cut a piece of Basic White using the smallest Stitched Rectangle die. Stamp the sentiment from Terrific Toadstools using Melon Mambo classic ink.

Stamp 2 of the leaf image from the set on Granny Apple Green cardstock using Granny Apple Green classic ink. Stamp another on So Succulent cardstock using Granny Apply Green classic ink and fussy cut these leaves.

Adhere the sentiment piece to the Granny Apple Green Stitched rectangle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the completed focal image and adhere to the centre of the card. Add the leaves to the focal image with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Make a small bow using White twine and adhere with a glue dot.

On the inside of the card, I added a panel of Basic White cut 4 1/3″ x 5 3/8″ and trimmed down the scrap of DSP to add to the bottom of the Basic White panel.
