Solution for installing DOCman v1.40RC3 on Joomla 1.5

If you have trouble installing the document management and download component DOCman on Joomla 1.5, this solution might help. It seems that DOCman does not work with PHP 4. It always gives you an installation error saying: Unwriteable <joomla root>/

So here is what you can do about it. If you run your installation on a shared server try to enable PHP 5 with the help of your .htaccess file. Some hostersallow this by adding the following line:

AddHandler php5-cgi .php

After adding this line to your .htaccess file you can have a look at your Joomla backend "Help - System" and see if the PHPversion changed. If everything went well, you can install now DOCman 1.40 without any problems.

PS: If you need to remove the double entriesin the DOCman backend that were created by the erroreous installations, you need to go to the Modules Manager - Administrator. You will find them there.

When I started using computers, it has been the time of MS DOS 5.0. It was the time when programs were started by using the command line and not by clicking icons. And there was this tool called Norton Commander, which gave you a graphical user interface (GUI). It made your life much easier by being able to manage your files in completely new way.

Screenshot: Norton Commander

When Windows was becoming the new standard operating system, a new tool was taking over the place of Norton Commander. This tool was called Windows Commander. After some trouble with Microsoft they had to rename it to "Total Commander". And that's still its name. But from the old times of a simple file management tool, Total Commander has become the all-in-one-super-tool in todays Windows world.

Screenshot: Total Commander

Just some of the features

Two file windows side by side

Built-in FTP client with FXP (server to server) and HTTP proxy support

Multi-rename tool

Tabbed interface, regular expressions, history+favorites buttons

Multiple language support

Enhanced Search Function - Search for files and within files

Compare files (now with editor) / synchronize directories

ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE archive handling + plugins

Thumbnails view, custom columns, enhanced search

I really want to emphasize that it is the best tool available in my opinion and probably the one that you really should consider buying. It's definitely worth it!

Download: http://www.ghisler.com/

The 7 Laws of Attraction

After watching the movie "What the bleep do we know" I started looking for more information about the Law Of Attraction also refered to as LOA. This "universal law" has become a kind of catch-all phrase to describe how we interact with everything in the world we live in. To better understand the law of attraction it's important to break down the information into it's basic components:

The Law of Manifestation

Thoughts do become reality, which means that whatever you spend your time on and put your energy in finally becomes a part of your experience and reality . It works for your perceptions and your situation. It will not only be a part in your mind, it will progress to be a part of your physical environment too. So you should be mindful of your thoughts and direct them to what your intention is.

The Law of Unwavering Desire

If you wish to have something as part of your experience and you believe that it is indeed possible and you believe that with all your heart and being a way will be made. That energy that you are producing will propel you in that direction.

The Law of Delicate Harmony

This is where most of us get hung up. We ask the question: "I'm asking, so where is my stuff?" You must maintain a deep and abiding sense of gratitude and contentment for the present. The universe doesn't have a time line, it takes as long as it takes. When you get frustrated by a lack of results, you are sending those negative impulses and guess what you get? That's right: "Garbage in Garbage out"! Also be mindful that you are not so totally fixated upon what you want, that you neglect other aspects of your life that may cause you friction. Asking the universe is a peaceful and positive process. You are projecting yourself by visualizing the future while enjoying the present moment.

The Law of Magnetism

This is the aspect of the Law that we regard as Karma or you reap what you sow. In school we are taught that magnetism is the attraction of opposite poles , this isn't so with the universe , energy is pervasive it doesn't matter if it is positive or negative. The energy you radiate or bring with you, is what you will attract from the universe.

The Law of Synchronization

The universe has a lot to offer. You can have, do or be anything you want. You also can have any experience in life that you wish. All you have to do is plug in. Align yourself with a giving attitude and bring value beyond what you receive in any situation.

The Law of Universal Influence

We are all connected to each other by the energy we exude. That energy will effect and influence the people around you. You must be mindful of every thought and action - no matter how small it seems. You always need to bring the positive on the table.

The Law of Conscience Action

You can sit in your room an wish your way to millions, but unless you are taking action in alignment with your goals, you are not likely going to see results. Get out there, educate yourself in whatever you decide to turn your attention to. Carry yourself with integrity and treat those around you as you would wish to be treated and practice right action. You will see the benefits.
Based on a summary found at: http://secret-law-of-attraction.us
