Nanami Cowdroy was born in Sydney, Australia with close bonds to hemixed Japanese-European heritage. Growing up with such contrasting cultures and surroundings, has greatly influenced her style of art and creative expression.

By intertwining complex characters and highly detailed objects her pieces reflect a juxtaposition between foreign and familiar entities and environments. Her imagination is illustrated through works which are elaborate and exotic. She is drawn to subjects, which may on the surface seem delicate or fragile, but are given strength and depth through her pen and ink techniques, intricate hand illustrative style and mixed media compositions.

Her signature detailed style reflects a refined monochrome pallette with her name 'Nanami' (meaning 'Seven Seas' in Japanese ) stamped in red. Fluid line-work, watery creatures and Goldfish are some of her favourite subjects, and distinctive forms which are featured in her artworks.

Art & Musing by Jessica Doyle

noreply@blogger.com (imyourbillboard) — Mon, 01 Mar 2010 20:14:00 +0000

This is a blog by Jessica Doyle about Art. Here is her idea.... Sometimes art needs to take you away to another land where flowers spin, the terrain is checkered moss green and ocher; where the grass grows as bamboo and is pointy at it’s tip. Drawing, painting and writing feel good to me. I don’t seem to remember a time when I wasn’t creating something, anything for that matter. I am a collector of paper, pens, paint and all things container, tiny, metal, old or wooden. I love mini. Being able to hold something in the palm of one’s hand is just well precious. My artwork is whimsically detailed and painstakingly created. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life inspires me. After three near death experiences I am grateful to be amongst the breathing! I have been working in the arts since the age of 17. I’ve doubled in age since and still love it. I am formally trained as an illustrator, surface and graphic designer after graduating from both the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design and later, Langara College in Vancouver, BC.

Happy Valentine's from Swoozie's

noreply@blogger.com (imyourbillboard) — Sun, 14 Feb 2010 19:52:00 +0000

Swoozie's is a unique store that was established on the basis of "celebration". The founders of Swoozie's were raised in the business around an extraordinary foundation for old-world customer care. In fact, while many stores are defined by their product lines alone, we're very pleased to say that Swoozie's is defined by its unending commitment to customer satisfaction as well as to all the services we offer. Our associates continuously demonstrate this commitment. They are all experts in the art of gift giving and enjoy helping our customers find the appropriate present for the appropriate occasion.

Swoozie's associates are experts on social paper as well. Swoozie's has the largest selection of designer invitations in the country, covering all occasions. To compliment this selection, we offer lithography and thermography printing. We bring all of these qualities together to help our customers design their invitations from beginning to end. We frequently design custom invitations for brides. In fact, bridal invitations are our specialty, and our staff of bridal experts are available for consultation on a full-time basis. Swoozie's enjoys the highest reputation for design excellence and customer satisfaction. We guarantee happiness on each and every visit!

Corporate celebrations are a specialty of Swoozie's as well. Our significant corporate clientele consults us for both gifts and social paper throughout the year, and during the season, we are a major supplier of corporate holiday cards with which we offer customized printing.

We at Swoozie's are dedicated to a customer-focused environment. From the products on the shelves, to the music in the air, to the bow on the present and most importantly to our staff in the black aprons, no detail is overlooked. This focus was recently recognized by Kurt Salmon & Associates when Swoozie's was named as one of "the most innovative" stores in the US. This recognition was based on our highly distinctive product mix, our superior customer service and the entire Swoozie's shopping experience...an experience that continues to gain momentum.
