Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Microsoft has recently (i forgot when exactly, maybe a year ago?) stopped supporting ie6 and is trying to get the world to upgrade their browsers. They even have a site dedicated to “moving the world  off Internet Explorer 6.” It has a map showing the percentage of usage in different countries. Right now, only 1.3% of the US uses ie6. I wonder how many of those people are just developers testing the browser? hehe. Over 25% of China still uses ie6, while 7.9% of the world still uses ie6.

I’ve disliked ie6 and ie7 for some time now, but have still tried to support it making my sites work in those browsers. But now with learning jQuery, and wanting to use CSS3 a lot more, I’ve decided people will just have to upgrade or use a different browser to see everything.

Ok, enough ranting XD

It’s Veteran’s Day today here in the US and Pepero Day in Korea (though technically it was yesterday in Korea). I actually forgot when Veteran’s Day was…. but remembered Pepero Day, and made a simple minimal-style poster which turned out pretty good.

I’ve been working on a new mock sci-fi movie poster as well as helping my girlfriend convert her portfolio site to WordPress. Hopefully both of those will be finished soon. I also am planning on a couple of It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World minimal-style movie posters.

I finished up a round of ebay sales. 45 out of 47 games sold which was better than I thought. Only Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero and Transformers didn’t sell… And someone also had to cancel the win, so now I have to figure out how to do a next-highest-bidder offer for those.

The weather has got colder here and the leaves are falling off the trees pretty fast. The other day I took some pictures of the trees near the driveway taking advantage of the sunlight shining on them. They look very nice!

I made this poster to celebrate Pepero Day. Pepero Day is a commercial holiday in Korea on November 11th each year. People give Pepero (which is very similar to Japan’s Pocky) to friends and loved ones, while Lotte (who makes Pepero) makes a lot of money from it all hehe

Halloween postcard I made for 2011. I tried to make the pumpkins look similar to tiki statues, and the left side pattern to resemble barkcloth fabric from the 60′s

I was asked to make some small posters to promote water conservation during the 2011 Vancouver West Stake Girl’s Camp of the LDS church. I was given a list of water conservation messages to work from and came up with 14 posters using Illustrator.

A coworker from my Konami days asked if I could help him make a tribute site for Steve Jobs reminiscent of how people put sticky-notes on the windows of Apple stores. Using jQuery, the jTweetsAnywhere plugin and a lot of CSS3, I was able to search and grab any Twitter tweets which mentioned Steve Jobs and display them as stick-notes on the front of an Apple store window. It turned out pretty good, even though it was somewhat difficult to get it working well through blogger.com where the site is hosted.

A Tribute to Steve

Been working on my website for the past few days. I’m trying to make a portfolio using WordPress’s Custom Post Types. It’s slowly coming together, but has been pretty difficult trying to get certain things to work right. I’m still at a loss to get pagination to work right.

Anyway, I’ve been back from my Korea trip for a few weeks now. I’m looking for some work, but mainly something small to work on during the next couple of months. My girlfriend will be coming to the US for a couple of months in December and we’ve already planned some trips that probably wouldn’t be possible if I had a full-time job now. So I’m looking around for any small web project (or any sort of doable project) I can get my hands on. I did do a small project for an old co-worker; it’s a tribute to Steve Jobs website that searches through twitter for mentions of Steve Jobs. It turned out good, but was somewhat difficult getting it all together since it is hosted on blogger.com.

I’ve also been working on some new posters lately. Actually, I’ve found designing poster designs to be very fun. I really like minimal/retro/atomic style designs, and have a lot of ideas of new posters I want to make. I’m also looking for a good site to go through if anyone is interested in buying prints. You can buy them on Deviant Art now, but I’m thinking the prices might be high… I’ve thought about selling through Etsy too, but still need to find a place to get them printed first… Any suggestions? I’ve seen Zazzle, imagekind, iprintfromhome, and Poster Brain. Poster Brain is good with 36″ x 24″ poster prints for only $20.

I’ll be working on updating/fixing my website more, as well as making more designs in the coming days
