In April 2011 an experimental party concept became reality. It was a party where artists where asked to play only tracks released on netlabels. Furthermore the party took place in two cities simultaneously, Weimar and Leipzig in Germany. Those cities were connected via a live audio and video stream so it was possible to let the DJs and live acts play in both cities at the same time. A third location was actually the Internet itself. It was of course also possible to listen to the stream from any computer worldwide.
Now this set here was the opening set for the “Connected by netaudio” party but it’s no live recording. The recording is available but hardly releasable due to its bad audio quality. Finally a re-mixed version of the set was created with a slightly modified playlist. It presents some favorable dub techno, minimal and tech house tracks from the recent years. Music that was selected and played for filling the empty dancefloor at the beginning of that special night. And … well … it worked!

This mix presents a little bit of this and a little bit of that. It was made in the mood of the old Subsource mixes. Back then the aim was to play quite a variety of all the available netmusic rather then to focus on a specific music genre. So this is no clubmix and no droning piece of ambient art nor a nerdy IDM selection. It’s a bit of everything. A music collection that became pretty playful and couch compatible and melts seamlessly different kinds of music together.
Basic advice: Simply set up your preferred zone for listening to music where it’s ok to just enjoy and relax.

This set is basically part two of the Convenient Evolution dub mix released almost a year ago. It presents strictly dub techno and dub influenced deep house music. Starting with some classic dub sounds the set melts into pretty club flavored parts and it gets more and more groovy but without loosing its dubby space and depth.
Please note that quite a few tracks of this music collection were released on netlabels that do not exist anymore, unfortunately. So this mix keeps some little history alive and the persistent attitude of the music will protect you from rapidly changing times, at least for two hours.

Eventually everyone comes to dub techno at some point. Everything will end up in dub. Dub techno is space and depth which are fundamental parts of our world. I wanted to create a real dub techno mix without the current dub house or club tendencies, more with the traditional Basic Channel / Chain Reaction sound as well as including some real dub roots, meaning the Reggae influences.
Please enjoy a set which starts quite deep and slow, passes by some electronic Reggae sounds and ends up with post Chain Reaction tracks. The speed of the set is constantly increasing while space and depth remain.

An atmospheric, relaxing and melancholic ambient set with some epic parts. It starts somewhere far away and comes down to ground level very quickly. The middle part is dominated by deepness and repetitive soundscapes turning around themselves. It moves on, fading to more lighter music, still some soundscapes but with a perspective, a “happy end” which is descpribed with warm and welcoming music.

This mix presents mainly some friendly house and dub techno tracks including some current classics of the netaudio worlds for rather having a smooth evening than for exploring big innovations although there are maybe some unusual sounds or tracks included. It would be somewhat boring otherwise.

This mix is a “re-mix” of a DJ-set played live last Friday at the wonderful Weinerei in Nürnberg. Normally the live recorded version would have been published instead of a “synthetic” mix but the non creative commons tracks had to be removed from the set to make it publishable (legally) for free.

The name of this set was caused by a real crocheted fried egg. It was forgotten by a guest that evening at the club and that guest moved heaven and hell to get this particular egg back. So this egg was the most important thing of that evening (beside of the music of course ;).

A warm, atmospheric and relaxing ambient set with smooth fades and wavelike movements from quietly to loudly parts. Acoustic parts are as well as drones a part of it. In other words, everything what makes ambient music so pleasant.
The light bulb shown on the picture was the only light source beside of the computer screen while mixing this set so this dj set is dedicated to it.

A smooth music collaction made for the smart mixlabel op3n.net. The opener by Jetone maybe sounds a bit displaced but this tune is more than a classig one.  Right after the first 5 minutes of this set it becomes pretty cosy playing a bunch of modern and exceptional ambient tunes.
