Saltdogs Release 2027 Schedule

LINCOLN, NE – The Lincoln Saltdogs announced today that their schedule for the 2027 season has been finalized and will feature all 9 league opponents coming to Haymarket Park. The Saltdogs will begin their 2027 season on the road for a three-game series on Friday, May 7^th, versus the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, before returning to Haymarket Park for nine straight home games, kicking off with a three-game series against the Sioux Falls Canaries on May 11^th.

The American Association will move to a ten team league in 2027 but will remain in a two-division format. The Saltdogs will remain in the West Division, along with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, Sioux City Explorers, Sioux Falls Canaries, and the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Kansas City Monarchs will move to the East Division in 2027, joining the Chicago Dogs, Gary Southshore Railcats, Lake Country Dockhounds and the Milwaukee Milkmen.

The American Association also unveiled that the league is moving to a 102-game regular season in 2027. The change will put a greater emphasis on inter-division games, with the Saltdogs playing 72 games versus West Division opponents, and 30 games against East Division teams. There will be 51 home games played at Haymarket Park, with an equal number of games to be played on the road.

MILWAUKEE MILKMEN ANNOUNCE 2027 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

Milkmen to play 51 home games at Franklin Field beginning May 14

FRANKLIN, Wis. – The Milwaukee Milkmen today announced the team’s 2027 regular season schedule, featuring 51 home games at Franklin Field as part of a 102-game American Association season.

The Milkmen will open the 2027 season on the road before returning to Franklin Field for their home opener on Friday, May 14 against the Lake Country DockHounds, beginning a three-game weekend series.

Milwaukee’s home schedule features 27 Friday-Sunday games, providing fans with a strong lineup of weekend baseball throughout the summer. The Milkmen will play 35 of their 51 home games by the end of July, with the regular-season home schedule concluding Sunday, September 5 against the Sioux City Explorers.

Additional highlights of the 2027 schedule include:

The Milkmen will host every American Association opponent at Franklin Field during the 2027 season.
Milwaukee’s first homestand runs May 14-23, featuring series against the Lake Country DockHounds, Gary SouthShore RailCats and Sioux Falls Canaries.
The Milkmen will host the Chicago Dogs for three games June 4-6 and again July 30-August 1.
The Kansas City Monarchs visit Franklin Field June 18-20, August 20-22 and August 24-26.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes visit Franklin Field for a three-game weekend series July 16-18.
Milwaukee will close its regular-season home schedule with a three-game Labor Day weekend series against the Sioux City Explorers September 3-5.

The 2027 schedule features a fully balanced American Association format, with the Milkmen playing each divisional opponent 18 times and each opponent from the other division six times.

Napleton named ALPB All-Star

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point Rockers catcher Luke Napleton today was named to the Atlantic League Postseason All-Star team. Napleton, a catcher, led the ALPB in home runs this year with a franchise-record 41 homers.

Napleton, 24, was High Point’s primary catcher but also saw action in the outfield and at first base. He batted .259 with 41 home runs and 113 RBI while also scoring 93 runs. His 41 homers and 113 RBI were both Rockers team records.

The LaGrange, Illinois native played three seasons at Quincy University before spending his senior season at Louisville in 2024. Undrafted out of college, Napleton joined the Rockers in spring training of 2025 and was almost immediately signed by the Minnesota Twins after hitting .571 with two homers and 10 RBI in his first six games. He would later rejoin the Rockers for the final leg of the 2025 season, finishing with a .407 batting average.

In 2026, Napleton became a staple in the Rockers line-up from the onset of the season and posted historic offensive numbers. He led the ALPB with nine multi-homer games and belted a grand slam against Hagerstown on July 16. In addition, Napleton became just the third Rocker in team history to hit for the cycle, collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the final game of the season on Sept. 13 against Gastonia.

Napleton is the ninth Rocker to earn Postseason All-Star honors and the first catcher to do so. In 2025, outfielders Ben Aklinski and Luis Gonzalez were each named to the All-Star team.

Battle of the Badges set for Friday, Oct. 2

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Truist Point will host the seventh annual Battle of the Badges charity softball game between the High Point Police Department and the High Point Fire Department on Friday, October 2. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:30.

Tickets are on sale now for $10 and are available for purchase at www.HighPointRockers.com and at the Truist Point Box Office at 303 Gatewood Ave.

Proceeds from the Battle of the Badges will benefit the “A Bed and A Book” charity and the High Point Police Department’s Angels in Blue.

The last two Battle of the Badges events have raised nearly $25,000 for the two charities. The series stands at 4-2 with the Fire Department holding the advantage.

Tritz Named Executive of the Year

Lincoln, Nebraska- The American Association of Professional Baseball has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs General Manager Shane Tritz has been named the 2026 AAPB Executive of the Year. Tritz, who just concluded his fifth season as the Lincoln Saltdogs General Manager, was selected via a vote of the Association’s executives, managers and media personnel.

“Receiving the Executive of the Year award is an incredible honor, and one I’m truly grateful to receive,” said Tritz. “I want to sincerely thank the Abel family and Charlie Meyer for providing me the opportunity to join the Lincoln Saltdogs organization and I am beyond grateful to the Abel family and the NEBCO leadership team for their continued trust and support.

Most importantly, this recognition reflects the people I have the privilege of working with every day. An award like this is never an individual accomplishment, it is only possible because of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of our entire staff. I’m incredibly proud of what we have and will continue to accomplish together and beyond grateful to be part of such a special organization and community.”

Saltdogs Chairman/Owner Jim Abel commented on Tritz’s recognition.

“Shane is truly deserving of being named the American Association’s Executive of the Year. In addition to his many responsibilities leading the Saltdogs, Shane oversaw two exceptionally successful, well-run events at Haymarket Park this year: the 2026 American Association All-Star Game and the Savannah Bananas. I greatly appreciate his leadership, work ethic, business judgment, and the positive influence he has on everyone around him. We are proud to see him receive this well-earned recognition.”

Tritz just concluded his 25th season in professional baseball. Shane began his professional baseball career as an intern with the Sioux City Explorers in 1999, before joining the Kansas City Royals AAA affiliate in Omaha, NE for the 2000 season. Shane returned to the Sioux City Explorers for the 2001 and 2002 seasons, before spending the next three seasons in South Texas as the General Manager with the Coastal Bend Aviators of the Central Baseball League. In 2006, Tritz would return to the Sioux City Explorers to serve as team’s Vice President/General Manager, a position he would hold for 13 seasons (2018). In 2013, Shane was honored as the league’s (American Association) Executive of the Year. The Saltdogs General Manager is originally from Sioux City, IA and attended the University of Iowa where he earned his degree in Sports Management in 1999. Shane and his wife Holly have two daughters, Morgan and Peyton.
