Azad Hind Bank Paper Money

There is no proof that the Azad Hind Government ever produced any banknotes. There is a rumor that the Germans printed banknotes for Bose about the same time they printed the stamps, but allegedly they were lost when the ship they were sent in was torpedoed on its way to Japan.

There are no known official Azad Hind Bank banknotes, but at the end of the war, in order to raise funds for Indian National Army veterans and other causes, a number of private commemorative banknotes were prepared bearing the image of Subhas Bose or other Indian patriots. One actually depicted Bose with Adolf Hitler. These banknotes were sold with the profits going to various charities.

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee released commemorative coins of 150 and 5 Rupees on the Late Shri Motilal Nehru on the special function of his 150th Birth Anniversary in New Delhi.

Commemorative Stamp on Shri Motilal Nehru was also released by the Communications & IT Minister Shri Kapil Sibal during the Function. President Shri Pranab Mukherjee received the first set of coins and postal stamps released at the function.
