13B Enters 12th Shanghai International Film Festival

Madhavan is also making a beeline for his share of international fame. His recent thriller 13B has got an official entry to the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival and he is looking forward to attend the event next month along with the debutant director Vikram K Kumar. The nine-day Shanghai fest, to be held from June 13-21, has a broad theme of thrillers and suspense films. Apart from 10 movies by master director Alfred Hitchcock, six films of French actress Isabelle Huppert would also be screened.

13B has been widely appreciated for its content which is definitely set apart from the regular Indian Cinema. It has been a commercial success in its Tamil version titled Yavarum Nalam. 13B revolves around a television set that creates havoc in the life of the protagonist by showing on screen real events that are going to happen to his family. The film also stars Neetu Chandra.

The critical acclaim and the commercial success of 13B proves that content and creativity are more important than the cost of the film. Stressing that the success of 13B belongs to everyone who had worked on the film, Madhavan said he hoped the Shanghai festival would lead to more international recognition coming its way.

Madhavan has just completed a long shooting schedule for Teen Patti in London and is taking a break with his family members in Bangkok before heading to Shanghai for the festival. In director Leena Yadav’s Teen Patti, Madhavan is cast along with superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley.

15000 Morons Ready For “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, yet another cheap (Un) Reality show is gonna debut soon on NDTV Imagine. Well, this is no big news… as it already is widely known. So, what is the big news…? According to the latest statistics available, there are more than 15,000 MORONS ready to take the plunge and test if they are (Un) Lucky enough. From businessmen to models and from NRI’s to doctors and engineers, these prospective grooms come from all walks of life. The calls, SMS’s and emails are still flowing from cities like Nagpur, Indore, Patna, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. Most entries are in the broad age group of 18 to over 35.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar

Yes, the number is official and might still grow. For anyone of you who is still wondering and is curious to know about the show… it is a show where in men wishing to get married to Rakhi have to register themselves with the show. After selecting the 15 grooms of her choice, Rakhi will stay with them under one roof (not in her bed buddy!). During this time, she will give her prospective grooms various tasks to perform. She will put them through a series of challenges that will test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility with her. The ones who fail face elimination every week. All through the series, viewers can help Rakhi decide, by voting for or against the prospective grooms and the final week will present the wedding celebrations. The final week will see Rakhi marrying the groom of her choice (supposedly). Rakhi is also expected to visit the homes of her finalists to find out about their families. Her friends will be involved in the show at a later stage. The show’s timings haven’t been announced yet but is expected to start after the Indian Premier League matches.

Obviously, the item girl is elated at the response she is receiving, but feels it will be a big challenge for her to shortlist 15 prospective grooms out of the lot. She says that she is ready and want to enjoy the marriage rituals. But if the buzz is to be believed, then Rakhi might not end up marrying at the end, though it has been claimed the she will marry the show’s winner. And we believe the buzz…!
